The commercial of my choice was the Old Spice ad that is advertising their new line of body
wash that is advertised having odor block power. The commercial is made by old spice and has a
lot of ethos, pathos, and logos throughout the commercial, and is very effective at all three. I think
that the commercial works and gets straight to the point in a very short time. Its main goal is to
sell and make money off their product that is said to keep you smelling god and stopping odor from
coming off you. They use a very famous actor, Terry Crews, to tell you that the product works and

Jane Austen s book, Northanger Abbey tells the tale of a young heroine, Catherine Morland coming
into her adulthood in the city of Bath and later at Northanger Abbey. She learns of social standards,
friendship, love, and dishonesty all of which are written in the books she loves so dearly. The last
paragraph of the work finishes the satire with extreme cliched points that represent the gothic novel
to a tee. Throughout the novel, Jane Austenuses satire to make fun of the classical gothic novel
with the cliched points such as love at first sight, a man coming to save the day, and of course a
mysterious abbey that holds all the spooks and scares an 18 year old girl could wish for. But
alas, the Northanger Abbey is nothing of the sort, rather it is a modernized structure with only
pieces of the mysterious that it had been before. Catherine, starved of mystery, even tries to
create a horror story of General Tinely murdering his wife, or later keeping her captive in the
dungeon, all of which are disproven by our hero, Henry Tinely. The humor in the novel is shown
through the actions and dialogue of our beloved characters. Catherine is rather ignorant when it
comes to social cues such as Isabella s constant flirting and desire of attention, not just from the
opposite sex but rather Catherine as well. Our heroine was blinded by happiness and sisterhood
to see what the reader saw all along, Isabella was lying, gold digger with a pretty smile and
goddess complex. A part of the humor in Catherine s ignorance lies in the double meaning
comments Isabella makes that go over her poor head and when she finally realizes Isabella s true
motives towards the end of the novel: Money.
There is a reference to the deadly sins throughout the novel. While there are certain sins such as
greed and pride that can summarize the majority of novel, there is at least one character that
reprensts each sin. Mrs. Allen has an obsession where clothing allowing her to represent gluttony.
When directed towards his children, General Tinely shows anger. Henry, our beloved hero is not
one to be humble and tends to know a little bit about everything while taking pride in believing he

The Jewish Self Identity Throughout history, there has not been a more persecuted ethnoreligious
group than the Jews; examples of their persecution can be traced back to Biblical times. Because of
their mistreatment by other ethnic and religious groups, the Jewish people have formed a self
identity that is unlike any other cultural group in this world. There are three components that make
up the Jewish self identity: antisemitism and its effects, the image of the self hating Jew, often a
result of antisemitism, and the events and repercussions of the Holocaust. Some scholars would
argue that antisemitism is a result of the New Testament s portrayal of the Jewish people as the

those times, they meant something else. (Wiesel 2006, p.XII). Night is a novel and an
autobiography written by Elie Wiesel in 2006. In this book, Wiesel shares his four years of
Horrifying experience at the concentration camps. The main purpose of writing this book is to
show the audience how exactly the day to day life of the Jews were at the concentration camps.
Two of the main points of this book are Relation and Faith. Wiesel has a good bond with his
father that he doesn t lose no matter what circumstances they both went under. Through out the
entire book, Wiesel shows his faith in god to the audience. There were times where he doubts in
god and almost loses faith in him and humanity but then he continues to have faith in him. The
author Elie Wiesel is a Noble prize winner and a teacher born on September 19, 1928 in Sighet,

While still sitting in the warm, soft sand, I reflected back on the ample amount of research I had
completed only a few weeks earlier, on popular activities to do in Hawaii. One activity in particular,
brought up in the search, had caught my attention. It was the art of sandcastle building. When
building a sandcastle, I learned that the sky is the limit because there are a variety of different
techniques and strategies that can be used. During the last couple of days before leaving, I spent
all my time on the computer researching all of the necessary steps, small details, and beneficial
tips needed to build a successful sandcastle. I had watched video after video and read article after
article on how to build the ultimate sandcastle and began to develop a plan that I could put into

The Importance of Being Earnest is a satirical play by Oscar Wilde that highlights the hypocrisy
of the 19th century. During the Victorian Era beautiful advances were made in art and science
were contrasted by the extremely divided class structure with obscene wealth reigning on one end
while harsh poverty and squalor continued below. The ideal nature of the upper class was glorified,
but Wilde utilizes literature to show the gluteny and repressed nature of these individuals to a
degree nearing hyperbole in order to make the audience reflect on their own flaws. The title and

However, her attitudes and hypocrisy displayed within the story show that is not the case. Lady
Bracknell, like many members of Victorian society, was worried about luxuries such as food and
objects( shown by the sustenance such as cucumber sandwiches she grew to expect) as opposed
to the actual company. This focus on money as opposed to morals extends to the marriages she
allows and does not allow. She is excited about the prospect of Algernon marrying Cecily only
after she finds out about her wealth, and still refuses to allow Jack to marry Gwendolen until she
