2. Whilst generating group ideas, we created a questionnaire in which
we asked 10 people to complete to improve our understanding
of our target audience. This allowed s to see if our the target
audience were interested in our storyline as well as allowed us
to make changes to our plans before we began filming.
Our questionnaire revealed that the majority of respondents had
viewed the films Donnie Darko and Seven which also have the
same genre as our trailer. Furthermore, it revealed that the
majority of respondents believed the duration of the trailer
should be 1:30 minutes in which we carried out to assure they
were kept interested.
3. Overall, the feedback we received during our focus group was positive
as after speaking with the focus group, each individual agreed that
the genre of our trailer was a psychological thriller. This was
reinforced with the comment from an individual relating to the
‘constant presence following him but he cant doe anything about it.’
Furthermore, the audience believed that the key scenes during the
trailer included the bathroom, psychologist and car scene which
reflects the main characters battle with mental health as well as his
pursuit for revenge.
We believe that feedback was mainly positive as respondents stating
that our narrative was clear throughout the trailer as well as
respondents stating that they would view the full film in the cinema.
Furthermore, the improvements that were stated were that our non-
diegetic could’ve been made slightly quieter therefore the dialogue
would be clearer.
4. As well as a discussion during the focus group, each member of the
group completed a questionnaire relating to the film trailer.50% of
respondents stated that the trailer was a psychological thriller which
is a positive feedback as we therefore portrayed the genre
successfully to the target audience. In addition, 100% of the 6
respondents stated that they would view the film in the cinema as
well as an individual stating that the narrative was ‘interesting,;
therefore it is evident that our trailer informed and entertained our
target audience during our feedback group.
Furthermore, it was evident that respondents understood the storyline
as an individual stated, ‘ a by is tormented by his peers who is then
assisted by an entity t help take the revenge on those that did wrong
to him.’ This response reveals the two main characters behaviour
throughout. In addition, another stated ‘a person is driven to an
extreme: to try and escape the situation through any means
possible.’ This reflects the storyline and Morgan who is the main
characters struggle with mental health.
5. Audience feedback allowed the group to understand
if our products gained our target audiences
interest as well as encourager them to view the
potential full film. The feedback we received helped
us to improve our trailer and to assure our trailer
entertained our target audience.
