2. The mise en scene is very simple as there is not a lot happening in the frame. It is just a
white background with Jessie J as the main image and with bold make up and black
nails. The dark colours show she is unhappy that is shown in her facial expressions. The
white background stands out and doesn’t show her goodness. The gold writing
connotes royalty, but the black and gold combined together presents a gangster
genre. Camera is presented to be a close up of Jessie J face, it shows she is unhappy
and the theme of the song is going to be serious and not fun. The title “Who you are”
is not an upbeat title. On her face whole face there is high key lighting this is opposed
on her hair which shows the binary opposition, this shows that there is two sides of
her.
The primary colours are used is black and gold, this has been done to grab the
readers eyes as well of this it makes it more appealing and interesting. However, this
advert defies conventions and the depressing connotation of black and the bright gold
writing and accessories.
The character on this music advert in the magazine is a women, Jessie J, the image of
her is a close up and she is looking directly into the camera, also you can establish who
the artist is from your first glance. She is wearing a lot of make up and the image is
very dramatic due to the dark lips, and tells us she is from the pop genre. Also the
white background is binary opposition compared to her black lips and hair.
Furthermore, by including the website it means that fans can access more information
about Jessie J and the album.
The target audience is most likely to be for teenagers for both genders however
probably more females. This has more traditional colours to show that it is not
targeted towards any particular genders. For example if a magazine advert was
targeted to more females there would be more orientated colours such as pink. The
use of black, white and gold contrast against one and other and are very neutral.
3. Colours used on this magazine advert works well together to make it appeal to
Olly Murs target audience. The main colours are pastel blue and red. The red that
is used for Olly Murs name fits in with the red of his braces, he has a casual but
yet sophisticated look e.g. the unbuttoned white shirt alongside braces and smart
trousers This helps to pull the advert together and make the audience realise the
small things. This presents that he isn’t afraid to try out new things with the
advert. Also the soft colours draws people toward the advert as it is welcoming
and different.
The font that is used on the advert is the same font that’s used on the album
cover itself this connects them together ad will help the audience know that this
is Olly new album, the boldness of his name helps it stand out as the font is quite
simple as then it makes it easier to read it appeals to the audience because they
don’t have to struggle to figure out who it is. Olly Murs’ clothing within the
magazine advert is stereotypical as they are the sort of clothes that he wears. Olly
Murs’ clothing is casual but smart at the same time, it suggest that the music
video is meaningful, serious but fun song.
The main image is a medium long shot of the artist in which his facial expression
is serious yet still attractive. He looks very relaxed through his body language, e.g.
his hand in his pocket. This is relaxed and easy going feeling his is presenting
links with the title of the album “Right place right time” as if to say that he is in
fact living in the moment. At the bottom of the page, there is a website which
presents people can access more information or purchase his album. In addition,
the background allows the protagonist to have a shadow behind him and give
him a 3D affect which makes it more appealing for the audience. The text is bold
and informal which links back to the artist attitudes and that Olly Murs’ is relaxed.
Furthermore, this has a laid back connotation with male pop artist.
4. The main imagery they have used for the advert is the one that they have used
for there album cover, this makes it easier for the audience to see the advert as
they know what cover they are looking for because it is the same as there album.
The image they used has a good colour scheme to stick to, for the rest of the
advert they used the sort of colours that are in the picture but the realise date is a
different colour to stand out. The release date uses a slightly smaller font, but to
make it just as clear as anything else that is coloured in red. The release date has
a smaller font but by putting it in red it stands out and grabs the audience.
Furthermore they make the writing clear and adds visual bonus to the advert as a
whole.
The bands website is included to get the target audience more included, by
looking at the website for tours, new songs and information. This advert includes
the bands record label, this is helpful more helpful for the record label than the
band.
At the top of the page, it is clear and bold as you can see the name as it is in
white and stands out and we know that it is the bands name. The fonts they have
used have been the same throughout the whole poster. It works well because
there isn’t a mash of different fonts which could look un-professional. The title of
the album has used the exact same font as the title and is also the same size.
They are both very important and by using the same font it doesn’t make the
page over crowded.
It states the songs which are included in the album, its because it helps advertise
since these songs have got a big single, meaning the audience that is liked these
will probably be interested in the of the album.
