This document analyzes the album covers of three indie artists: Lana Del Rey, Passion Pit, and Rubik. It summarizes the color schemes, fonts, and images used on each cover and how they relate to the genre and target audiences. Lana Del Rey's cover uses blue, white, and black to reflect the songs' themes, while Passion Pit features pink skies and hands reaching for happiness. Rubik's cover has a relaxing background image but suggests some dark elements in the album through its bold, black font. All three covers are consistent with indie album styles of keeping designs basic and not prominently featuring the artist's face. This album has a consistent colour scheme which is blue, white and black. Lana choose these colours because the colours
reflect the songs in her album; loyalty, trust , love , pure and understanding. This album cover has a large, bold font which
simplistic but also stands out. The same simplistic font is also used in the back cover , the same colour scheme is used
consistently throughout this album cover. This relates to my genre and audience because it’s common for a Indie genre to
have one main image of their assists face as they want the audience to focus more on their talent. The use of mid – shot is
very effective , this typically suits a Indie genre because there’s not much text and images on the album cover, they tend it
keep it very basic with about 2-3 colours maximum. My audience is very similar to Lana male and female age 15-29. Most of
the people in my target audience are students or working in the humanities/arts field (art/design. It is likely that my audience
do not earn at all (students) OR earn a wage of around 21,000- 25,000 a year.

This album cover has two colour scheme which is pink and light cream. The background image looks like the
sky but in pink which suggest that the album is about Love Kindness or Compassion those are some of the
connotes of pink which it presentenced in this album cover. The main image of this album cover are hands
reaching out to the sky, as though they are reaching out for happiness. The font of the title of the album is
hand written which gives a the impression that his work is original and he’s personal writing it for his
audience. This relates to my genre because most Indie albums tend to not have image of the artists if it’s
not their first album. The back cover is very basic and use the same images of hands which also link to the
front cover. The tend to have very few images and text on their album covers. My target audience social
class would be working/middle and in education.

There is three colour scheme used in this album cover, which matches the image in background. The
background images gives the album a very relaxing look. The font used is black and it’s bond. The title is
highlighted in black, bold fonts which is usually a negative connotation so could suggest that there’s
some dark elements to this album. The image is covered with a cloud on their faces this could be
because the lyrics of the album are surprisingly dark which their trying to portray. Most indie genre tend
not to have their faces on the album cover. This relates to my audience because the age group of my
audience are males and females age 15-29. My target audience are predominantly White British. Also
following ethnic groups... Black/White British Indian Mixed.
