The document discusses and compares the CD covers of Lady Gaga's "ARTPOP" album and Kesha's "ANIMAL" album. For Lady Gaga's album, the cover features her name and the album title in bright pink and white typography against a blue background. She is depicted as a statue or mannequin in a single color. The colors and art pieces in the background relate to the "art pop" genre. Kesha's album depicts her in black and white with a white rim, making the gold color central and suggestive of wealth. The handwritten font suggests she is fun and does not care about formal presentation.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
2. ART POP – Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga is also another artist under this genre of music and she conforms to the
typical conventions of electro-pop products in the majority of her CD covers. For
example ‘ART POP’ which was released on November 6th in 2013. ‘ART POP’ is
Gags’s third studio album and includes some of her most famous singles such as
‘Applause’ and ‘Do What U Want’ with featured vocalists also making an
appearance on the album such as R.Kelly, T:I and Twista.
The album cover itself has used a wide range of bright, bold colours especially for
the titling of the album seen at the bottom of the CD cover in white, large writing,
which looks bold against the blue object. As well as the bright pink typography for
the artists name, which is very effective in regards of standing out very clear to
the audience due to the background of the album cover.
The typography of Gaga’s name is the first initial thing you see whilst looking the
cover, compared to the actual main artist herself as in the cover she is all one
colour and styled to look like a statue or mannequin. Her facial expressions and
body language look very stiff and emotionless, comparing her to a mannequin or
a statue.
Additionally, the colours also link to the name of the album as the images in the
background of the album show various art pieces, which can demonstrate the
album covers look as abstract and creative, and the bold colour scheme used link
in to the era of ‘art pop’.
3. ANIMAL – Kesha
The artist is introduced with a close up image of her
on the front cover of the album, which is a typical
convention of an electro- pop artist. Additionally, she
is filtered in black and white, with a white rim around
her which makes her stand out. Due to this colouring,
it makes the gold a very central colour for the album
artwork which can suggest wealth and fame, also
another typical convention of a pop artist. I will be
considering to do the same on my album cover, as
this will make it fit in with the genre of the song.
The font used on the front and back cover looks
almost handwritten which suggests that the artist is
fun and does not really care about what it looks like.
