Zohar Levi Portfolio provides summaries of several art projects completed from January 2015 to present:
1) For the "Place in Question" project, Levi created 3D models and a final cube depicting a location, capturing different views and materials used. Business cards were designed to promote the exhibited work.
2) At Kilve beach, Levi took photos and drawings which informed a papier-mâché sculpture of pebbles on a mannequin, painted to resemble water.
3) For the "Tea for Two" project, Levi created a tea cup-shaped skirt exploring ceramic designs from different cultures. Mood boards and designs were developed.
4) Current work involves tes

thGAP - Transgenic Human Germline Alternatives Project, presents an evening of input lectures, discussions and a performative workshop on artistic interventions for future scenarios of human genetic and inheritable modifications.
To begin our lecturers, Marc Dusseiller aka "dusjagr" and Rodrigo Martin Iglesias, will give an overview of their transdisciplinary practices, including the history of hackteria, a global network for sharing knowledge to involve artists in hands-on and Do-It-With-Others (DIWO) working with the lifesciences, and reflections on future scenarios from the 8-bit computer games of the 80ies to current real-world endeavous of genetically modifiying the human species.
We will then follow up with discussions and hands-on experiments on working with embryos, ovums, gametes, genetic materials from code to slime, in a creative and playful workshop setup, where all paticipant can collaborate on artistic interventions into the germline of a post-human future.

2. A Place in Question brief : To explore,
analyse and respond to a specific
location using observation and recording.
Create a large-scale 2D and 3D final
outcome.
3. 3D Work
Reflecting on my artist research and studies of the Place in Question project, I started to
think of ways to create 3 prototype models and a final cube that would depict my location. I
captured 5 different viewpoints of the cube, looking at the different lighting. I also produced
a final study of the finished cube presenting samples of the materials I used to make it in my
book.
4. To end the Place in Question project, we exhibited
our work. We were required to design and
make business cards that enabled visitors to
contact us if they were interested in our work. I
researched different types of business cards that
gave me ideas for my own. I wanted to create a
unique look and I combined two different
materials, acetate and card, with design images of
my final cube and prints. Presenting
5. Kilve
-Fashion in 3D form
For my recent art project we
visited Kilve in Somerset
where we took photos and
drew elements of interest at
the beach. We also made a
visit to woodlands where we
created an artwork with the
natural materials found
around us, in style of artist
such as Andy Goldsworthy.
I have illustrated 5 drawings
with 5 surface design
experiments.
6. I started to develop my
chosen design by producing
a toile. I shaped the pebbles
onto the mannequin using
paper.
Once I worked out the basic shape of the
garment I started to create my final
piece. I decided that papier mache would
be the lightest material to work with on
the mannequin.
7. Final Outcome
Images of the front and back view of the sculpture. I
painted the pebbles and poured ink down the skirt, to
create the effect of water streaming between the pebbles as
I saw at Kilve beach.
A close up image of the
first surface design I
experimented with- A
fossil print of a fern.
8. Tea for Two
The first image shows my final exam piece for
my AS level. For this project, entitled, ‘Tea for
Two’, I explored different cultures and their
ceramic pottery and decorative designs. For my
final piece, I created a skirt in the shape of a
tea cup.
I illustrated what my final outfit
design would look like.
9. Mood boards
For the Tea for Two project I
created a mood board which
helped me put all of my research
and ideas together, to understand
how I could move further.
I created a mood board for a
project on Tessellation, which
also helped me understand what
areas are most successful and I
could work further with.
10. Artist research
and studies
I took some
inspiration from
Kaleidoscopes,
and the artists
Klimt and Louis
Vuitton 2013
collection and
Issey Miyake.
I also undertook a
study of
tessellated shapes
I’ve captured 4
images of some of
my artist research
for my current
fashion project,
Tessellation .
11. Experimentatio
n
After looking at
Issey Miyake’s
work, I began to
explore different
types of folding
techniques. I then
looked at how I
could fold those
shapes with different
types of fabrics.
12. I experimented with
different ways I could
colour my chosen
fabric, such as, tie
dying and brusho.
I then drew 5
illustrations of possible
design ideas,
combining all of my
experiments.
Use of Colour
13. Observati
onal
Drawings
For 6 weeks I took part in an extra-curricular life
drawing session once a week for two hours. I
gained many skills and an understanding of
how to draw figures in the correct dimensions. We
looked at Georges-Pierre Seurat life drawings in
black chalk and I tried this technique, as shown
the picture above.
14. We also experimented with
combining several materials: wax,
tea, coffee and crayons. The aim
was to draw another item (fabric)
that was draped around the model.
This was interesting to draw and
to experiment with.
I have also
produced
observational
drawings of
objects, and
then explored
these further,
creating a
cubist effect.
15. Observational
drawings –The
National Portrait
Gallery
When visiting the National Portrait
Gallery, I produced 3 studies of
Jelena Buljic, Alistair Adams and
John Keane. I decided to use the
latter's style of painting in my own
work.
Brief: To make a careful study of an existing painted
work, and then develop ideas for own diptych (2 part
image), or triptych (3 part image) self-portrait in the
style of the artist.
16. These images show the final
outcome and stages.I went
through painting myself.
Painted in the style of John
Keane whose painting of ‘Mo
Mowlam’ caught my eye in the
National Portrait gallery.
