I decided to analyse this video ‘Bad Liar’ by
Selena Gomez (released in 2016) because I
thought it was a very unique, unusual and
interesting video.
It was a narrative as well as performance based
video as you see that Selena sings certain parts
whilst in the narrative as if she's telling a story,
which was effective as in kept the audience
watching because you was intrigued too see the
ending in which there was a unexpected twist.
In addition I also thought the music video was
effective because it is meant to appear as if it is
based in the 70s, and with the use of colour
grading, to make it look more warm and sepia
toned teamed with the outfits, props and
hairstyles, I think it was successful in what it was
trying to portray.
Lastly, the music video didn't get boring because
it used a variety of different shot and camera
angles therefore making it easier and more
appealing for the audience to watch.

3. STYLE - Taylor Swift
The next video I decided to analyse was ‘Style’ by
Taylor Swift (released in 2015) because I thought it
was a appealing video to watch, and it used new and
interesting ways such as projections to make it
appealing to watch.
This music video was mainly a narrative, however
there was a small amount of performance where
Taylor would sing, which was effective as it kept the
audience aware of where they were in the narrative
of the two lovers thinking of each other.
In addition I also thought the music video was
effective because it used a variety of colours
changing from light to dark, to purples and blues,
each conveying the different emotions in the video.
More over throughout the video effective reflections
in broken glass were used along with projections and
merged images which made the video unique and
different to other music videos, therefore making it
more easy and appealing to watch.
Furthermore the use of the different shots camera
angles also added to successfulness of the video as
the audience never felt bored as it wasn't repetitive.
