2. This is an image of the rap artist Eminem. Here he is
shown with a miserable face and is making direct
eye contact with the audience, this is effective
because it creates a serious atmosphere, indicating
that the subjects spoken about in his article will be
serious or sensitive. The use of him having his arms
crossed and standing in a powerful manner portrays
him as an aggressive character, this pose relates to
his music style because a lot of it is violent. He is
dressed in casual clothing apart from his jewellery
which looks very expensive and flashy, the stylist has
dressed him in this way because they want to show
the audiences the artists riches and how famous he
is. The use of his tattoos being on show, portrays a
sense of edginess and makes him look cool. Eminem
is known for being one of the first white rap artists
so this is why the editor has made him more pale to
create a greater emphasis on this. The use of him
being so white creates a juxtaposition between him
and the red font, it also makes his tattoos look more
bold.

3. Here is an image of the Black Eyed Peas. They are dressed in smart however, funky clothing, I think
that they are dressed in this way to show that they are a mature band however are still appealing
towards a young audience. Fergie (the women) is dressed very provocatively and we can clearly see
her stomach and chest, she is being objectified so that she brings sex appeal to the band. They are all
stood in a robotic pose to add to their style of music which is techno music. Three of the artists are
faded and are slightly behind the artist in the middle (Will-I-am). I believe that the article has done
this to make a bigger emphasis on him because maybe the article is mainly about him.

4. This is an image from the Rolling Stone
magazine and it is of Rihanna. In this image she
is shown wearing very little clothing and is
being objectified in order to bring sex appeal to
the magazine, by doing this the magazine is
trying to appeal towards older males . However
the items of clothing that she is wearing are
very simple and casual but her hair on the other
hand is made up very dramatically, maybe they
have dressed her in this way to create an
emphasis on her wild hair. Rihanna’s red hair
has become an icon and she known for having
this colour, this is why they have made her hair
stand out, so that we can establish who she is.
She is standing in a pose where her bottom is
directly facing the audience and she is making
eye contact with the readers, this makes her
look very seductive and the pose allows her to
enhance her curvy figure. Rihanna has been
placed in a very ordinary setting to match her
ordinary outfit maybe the editors have done this
so that the audience can see Rihanna in a
different light where she isn’t all glamorous and
heavily made up. A lot of RnB artists like
Rihanna dress in a provocative way and are very
curvy this is probably why the magazine has
clearly highlighted upon these stereotypes so
that the audience can define her genre of music.

5. This is a front cover from a classical
music magazine called, Music. On the
front is shown a women in very
sophisticated clothing holding a
violin. Her dress is very formal and
simple and there is no inappropriate
flesh showing, the magazine has done
this to portray the seriousness of the
music which will be discussed. The
use of her holding the violin directly
to the audiences view gives them an
indication of the types of instruments
that will be involved, the magazine
clearly wants us to see the violin. Her
facial expression is very bland and her
pose isn’t too shocking, again this is
adding to the serious atmosphere
that the magazine is trying to create.
