The magazine advert summarizes an album by pop artist Rihanna. It uses a close-up image of Rihanna, with bold text highlighting the new album title "LOUD" and release date. The simple layout with bright colors and well-aligned text and images creates an organized feel that would attract audiences. The digipak for the album continues the theme with the same bright color scheme and repetitive imagery of Rihanna to remain recognizable.
2. Magazine advert ā Rihanna
From the first look of this magazine advert it signifies a pop
genre with the bright and bold colours and also the extreme
close up of the artist so then the audience feel more closer
to her. From first glances of the magazine advert, it would
attract the eye of the audience as it is bright and bold. It is a
good layout with everything aligned perfectly which makes
it seem neat, tidy and organised.
Describing the poster/
magazine advert it
definitely portrays a pop
artist, as Rihanna is a well
known artist around the
world. During 2010, the
use of media signified
Rihannaās known look of
bright red hair and bright
red lips. This was portrayed
as a motif for Rihanna as
she was known for this.
The text is rather plain as
the photo itself is the main
function to attract her
audience/ fans. All text is
in capitals to attract with
key events to create a build
up of the song and also, to
create buzz.
Key features which are
shown which would attract
the audience would be
Rihanna herself. She is
positioned in a seductive
way to attract possibly both
male and female
audiences/ fans. The bold
text would attract the
audience as they would
notice āTHE NEW ALBUM,ā
āLOUDā and āCOMING
NOVEMBER 16, 2010.ā
Through her motif of her
bright and bold hair and
lips, her album, LOUD, may
portray her music which is
up beat or her hair which is
loud, bright and bold.
When you see a picture of
Rihanna you will always
expect her to attract her
audience, as she is
attractive and always looks
good with whatever she
does.
The images which have been used is a close up of Rihanna as she
is the key part of the magazine advert/ poster. It is an image of
her as she is extremely important throughout the album as it is
her album and her songs. The main image is bright with the
golden lighting to emphasise her features on her face and also to
create quite a seductive look with her facial expression.
Red lipstick makes her look extremely sophisticated and also
connotes a bold and confident female. Rihanna is portrayed
through the media to portray these ideologies, so it is as if she is
conforming to the media, which may create buzz around the
artist.
The information is effective as it
gives the readers/ viewers an
idea as to why they are looking
at this magazine advert/ poster.
It gives them the artists name to
attract the audience, it also
incorporates āTHE NEW ALBUMā
which would also create buss
around the artist as they will
realise there is a new album. On
the magazine advert/ poster it
also incorporates the album title
in big bold writing to give the
viewers information about the
new album. It also creates extra
buzz with āFEATURING THE #1
HIT ONLY GIRL (IN THE WORLD)ā
this would publicly attract the
viewers to purchase the album
as it is a well known song. They
also incorporate the date for the
release of the album to create
more people to talk about it.
I personally believe it is a
good magazine advert with
the use of bright colours
and a good image to
portray the artist as
glowing. The use of text is
minimal but is just enough
to get the right amount of
information based on the
artist or the new album.
Also the main colour
scheme of the magazine
advert is red, which
compliments and works
well with the advert title of
āLOUDā.
They also incorporate
twitter at the bottom
which may be there to
promote the website. This
also connotes Rihanna as a
well known artists, and
suggests they have added it
there for a reason.
3. From first looks at this digipak it keeps in context if the red colour scheme. By doing
this it is effective with the album title āLOUDā. They have used the same image which
suggests the helpfulness towards the audience which looked from the magazine
advert. By using the same image it is more recognizable, suggesting Rihanna as a motif.
The motif throughout is the red colour scheme through both the digipak and magazine
advert.
From the front cover of the digipak it
suggests a repetitive vibe with the
similar magazine advert and digipak.
This is good as it will be recognisable.
The front covers image of Rihanna is
also very voluminous and bright to
portray her key features and to attract
her viewers/ audience. The text is
simple with a plain font which is
effective with the bright image of the
artist. The text also clearly states what
the viewer is willing to purchase with
both the artists name, Rihanna and also
the album name, which is LOUD.
The CD is elegant, delicate and
pretty with the use of a pale
rose. The CD image itself my
portray or connote Rihanna the
artist herself as she looks elegant
on the cover of the CD case/
digipak image.
The CD is nice and keeps the
theme of the whole digipak
linking with roses, suggesting
elegance and delicacy. Most CDs
which I have seen, are usually
mainly plain or a motif of the
artist/ band. For Rihanna it
signifies a motif of roses.
The back of the digipak shows Rihanna sat down and keeps in consideration of to red/
neutral pink theme. This gives quite a calm but seductive feel throughout the digipak.
The artist is portrayed in a provocative way in how she is positioned for the photo.
The track list is on the back and also the artists record labels to promote them. The
colour scheme is rosy and pink, with aspects of white through the text using the same
style.
The text has stuck the same throughout both the
magazine advert and the digipak. The text is bold and
stands out, it seems simple with the thin text but it is
still recognisable and noticeable.
On the back of the digipak the text does change. It
sticks to the same font but it is a different colour to
maybe stick with the theme of the rose colour
scheme. It makes the layout seem effective and
elegant. The size isnāt huge, but it is a perfect size
which fits perfectly with the size of the imaging and
the size of the digipak.
4. My opinion of the magazine advert suggests
the genre of the band. It is suggested with the
unique and simple layout. It is laid out fine and
has all information which is needed. Everything
is aligned correctly which portrays the
organization of the magazine advert.
The magazine advert/ poster is simple with the
bold title of the band and also a simple picture
of the outdoors. It states the album name
āGiven to the wildā which suggests the imagery
which is used, as it connotes a desert. Included
is the date of release and a quote, which may
show a recommendation. By adding a quote it
advertises the band more, and if it is true and
the audience agrees with the quote, the band
would get recommended more and become
more well known.
Everything is aligned well, keeping in line with
the imagery of the center of the image. There is
a contrast of colour from blue to bright vivid
orange which may attract the audience.
The key features which would attract the
audience is firstly, the bold and bright title of
the bands name. It is effective as the pale blue
background allows the title to stand out much
more. The other attraction would be the
unique imagery, as you wouldnāt see it on a
regular basis on magazine adverts/ posters.
The bright colour scheme would also attract
the audience as it does stand out compared to
others.
Another way the audience may be attracted
would be the main object in the picture. It
comes across an upside down bee hive. It
portrays the bands name as it contains āBEESā in
it at the end. This also links with the album
name, āGIVEN TO THE WILDā which may signify
the band going somewhere else, which may
make the audience by and wait for the album
to find out some answers.
The information which is incorporated is the
band name, so then the audience/ viewers
will acknowledge who it is. The bands album
name is also on there so then the audience
knows what album to buy, and the release
date is also incorporated on it to create a buzz
on the band. A quote has been used to
suggest a recommendation of the band as
they signify that they are āThe best guitar
band in Britainā¦ā
The text is simple with big, bold font with a
simple white colour. This is effective behind the
bright colour scheme which is being
incorporated to attract the audience/ viewers.
5. The colour scheme sticks the same with the same
desert vibe of blues and oranges, which are bright
and bold. The inside of the digipak is a typical
wood image all over the inside.
The text is still white which allows it to stand out
and allows the audience/ viewers to recognize the
band.
The repetition continues as there is no massive difference
between the magazine advert/ poster and the digipak. The
same theme is shown throughout both, besides the inside of
the digipak being wood and more darker than the brighter
colours on the outside. Both are effective and portray an
organised layout.
The image is the same and still connotes the same as before.
The front cover is brighter with the same imagery
and colour scheme of the magazine advert. It has
the same picture with the connotation of the
beehive. It also has the gradient effect of the sky
towards the vivid and bright orange. It also has
the title of the brand which is also still the bold
font with a bright white colour.
The CD disc is simple, it has the band name on and
the title. It is plain as there is a lack of colour and
it is completely monochrome as the font colour is
black. To improve the CD, they couldāve
incorporated some bright colours from the front.
But then, the plain CD is incorporated on the
inside of the digipak which is dark, sticking to
consistency of the monochrome colour scheme.
I usually expect the CDs to be brighter, especially if
the colour scheme has been seen throughout as
bright and bold with blues and oranges. As both
the magazine advert and the digipakās front has
been bright to attract the audience.
The back of the digipak is also bright with the
track list on the back and also the barcode. The
track list is in the bottom corner to show the
whole image of the desert. Also the song track
list gives the audience/ viewers an insight into if
they recognise any of the songs in which are
theirs.
On the inside of the digipak, there is a long list of
the band. Which is possibly a description of the
band members or the band. This allows the
audience/ viewers to have more information
about the band, to get a brief insight about them
and if they should purchase the album.
6. Adele is an extremely well known artist around
world, and her magazine advert is easily
recognised and distinguished compared to others.
The magazine advert/ posters are usually black
and white, and they usually have a certain colour,
in this instance it is green. The layout is good and
aligned showing the organization of the magazine
advert. The magazine advert has good imagery of
a picture of Adele and also the front cover of her
album is at the bottom. There is a balanced
amount of text shown and also a good usage of
imagery.
Overall, the magazine advert is good and
organised, showing its effectiveness and how it
would attract the audience. The use of colours are
balanced and attractive as they work well
together.
The key features which would possibly attract the
audience is the larger picture of Adele, and the
smaller one in the corner. She is indeed attractive
and does look good in the picture in which is
used. Other features which would attract the
audience would be the bold writing of āADELE 21,ā
as people/ audience/ the viewers would realise
that it is Adele and her album is out.
Also at the bottom left, there is an image of the
front cover of her album, and also text which says
that the album is āAVALIABLE EVERYWHERE NOW.ā
This would attract fans of Adele if it is their
favourite artist. Another feature would be the text
underneath her name as it shows she has won
Grammyās.
Images which are used are images of Adele. Both portray
her as attractive, which would attract the audience. There
are two images, one for the magazine advert and also one
for the image of her album. It gives the audience/ viewers
an idea of her themes throughout and also an idea that
she has an album which has came out.
The text which is used is simple and sophisticated as
there is sophistication throughout the regular use of the
white and green colours. The colours create a contrast as
green is much more brighter than white. The colours work
well especially with the monochrome background of
Adele and the white font. The colours used are effective
as they all co-ordinate and match perfectly.
The colour scheme consists of green, white, black and
grey as there is a theme of dark and dull colours
besides the green. The
green outline of the album
in the corner may suggest
the audience to look there
so then they acknowledge
that the new album looks
like that.
7. Adele does not have any digipaks, but does have a CD album
where I can take some inspiration from.
The CD album continues the theme of the white, grey, black
and green. This suggests continuity and also organization. By
doing this it is more effective may be considered as a motif to
the viewers/ readers.
Personally, the CD album is good as it portrays Adele well
with the sophisticated outcome. It is all organised with extra
bits, like the booklet containing the song lyrics and a bright
CD to continue the theme colours.
The front of the album shows a
nice picture of Adele herself. The
picture was incorporated on the
magazine advert/ poster, this
allows the audience/ viewers/ fans
to recognise the album much more,
as it is more continuous and
repetitive throughout.
Adele is portrayed as pretty, with
minimal makeup and youthful skin.
The monochrome colour scheme is
effective as it is plain but then adds
some colour with the ā21ā next to
Adeleās name.
On the back of the CD album, it
consists of the track list and also a
picture of the artist, Adele. This
image shows Adele looking
innocent and seductive as she is
looking directly at the camera,
unlike the other images of herself
she isnāt looking at the camera. Her
eyes are either closed or she is
looking down at the floor. The use
of her having her eyes open is
effective as there is a difference
between the imagery. The record
labels logo is also on the back
under the track list, which may
promote them.
Both the back and front of the CD album is effective as they both
work well together. The difference is that the back has no colour.
The only colour is black and white which may come across as
boring. The audience/ viewers may have expected some green as it
is continuous through the front cover, the lyric booklet and also
the magazine advert. Overall, both are effective and stick with the
sophisticated vibe.
The CD itself attracts the audience definitely, as it continues with
the theme of green. This green is brighter than the others, as it
comes across more fluorescent and the ā21ā green seems more
mint than fluorescent.
The numbers which are next to Adeleās name suggest her age,
which is why her albums have been numbers instead of names.
The 21 is extremely large to show the album name and so then it
stands out more against the fluorescent green. The record label
are again on the CD with extra text underneath surrounding the
edge of the CD.
The text is the same as the magazine advert/ poster, sophisticated
but simple. The simplicity refers to the thin text but it is in caps
lock. This is effective is even though it is thin, it is still visible and
may still attract the audience. The back of the album is also the
same suggesting the continuity throughout.
