1. Analitical Essay
Writing an analytical essay can be a challenging task that demands a combination of critical
thinking, research skills, and the ability to articulate complex ideas effectively. The difficulty lies
not only in the mastery of the subject matter but also in the process of carefully analyzing and
interpreting information.
Crafting an analytical essay requires a deep understanding of the topic, as well as the ability to
dissect and evaluate various perspectives. It involves delving into the intricacies of the subject,
identifying key components, and constructing a cohesive argument supported by evidence and
logical reasoning. The challenge is to present a well-structured and coherent analysis that not only
showcases your understanding but also engages the reader.
Moreover, conducting thorough research to gather relevant information and supporting evidence
is a crucial step. This involves navigating through various sources, critically evaluating their
credibility, and synthesizing the information into a cohesive narrative. The analytical process
demands precision and attention to detail to avoid overlooking important nuances or
misinterpreting data.
Another layer of complexity arises in the organization of ideas. Crafting a compelling
introduction that sets the stage for the analysis, developing a clear thesis statement, and
maintaining a logical flow throughout the body of the essay can be daunting. Each paragraph
should contribute to the overall argument, and transitions should guide the reader seamlessly
through your analysis.
Furthermore, choosing the right language and tone is vital. An analytical essay should strike a
balance between formality and engagement, presenting complex ideas in a clear and accessible
manner. Achieving this balance requires a keen awareness of the audience and an understanding
of how to communicate effectively with them.
In conclusion, writing an analytical essay is a challenging endeavor that demands a combination
of intellectual rigor, research skills, and effective communication. The process involves
navigating through the complexities of the topic, conducting thorough research, and presenting a
well-organized analysis. Success in crafting an analytical essay hinges on the ability to synthesize
information, construct a compelling argument, and engage the reader throughout.
For those who find this task overwhelming or time-consuming, it's worth noting that various

2. Babylonian Captivity Research Paper
5.) Babylonian captivity: This event in history is also known as the Babylonian
exile in which Jews were captives under the Babylonian Empire and were eventually
forcibly exiled. It occurred during the 5th century BCE. There is a similar concept
that it represented in the text Crisis and Renaissance where Jewswere blamed for the
Black Death through the Jews had planned to wipe out the all the Christians with
poison (3.3). Although these works are far apart in history, they represent a crucial
concept in Western Civilization. It is the concept of scapegoating a specific
religious group for the actions they may have done. In the case of the Babylonian
Captivity, the Jews who were native of the land were forcibly exiled because their

Initially, during early Medieval Europe, identity was initially locally oriented. The
early middle ages was a period marked by incredible turmoil and disarray. With the
collapse of the Roman empire, individuals were no longer under the security of a
stable and powerful empire. As a result, people began to develop means of
protection. This is what initially inspires the concept of a local oriented view of
identity in medieval Europe. Initially, individuals sought out for a means of
protection and stability in the wake of the collapse of the Roman empire. This is
where Charlemagne plays a crucial role in early Medieval Europe as he was seen
as a stabilizing force. For instance, in the text The Life of Charlemagne, the author
describes that Charlemagne gave his attention not only in his own country and in
his own kingdom, but he used to send money across the sea (143.1). Furthermore,
in the text From Centralization to Fragmentation, one can observe how
Charlemagne served as a stabilizing force for early Medieval Europe. The author
writes Charlemagne commanded that every man in his whole kingdom should now
promise to him as emperor of fidelity (2.1). Ultimately, both texts help exemplify
why a local identity became prevalent in the early Middle Ages because as it was a
period marked by incredible

Department of Biology, Lebanese American University, Byblos, Lebanon
Abstract The 16s rRNA gene sequencing is a widely common amplicon sequencing
method used to identify and compare bacteria in a given sample. This method is well
established and allows to study phylogeny and taxonomy of complex microbiomes. In
this study, an unknown sample of extracted microbial DNA was analyzed by
performing the polymerase chain reaction followed by agarose gel electrophoresis.
The results were accurate since three distinct bands (1500 basepairs) corresponded to
our sample (duplicates) and the positive control. This indicates clearly the
amplification of the 16s rRNA gene whose further sequencing technique constitutes a
pivotal tool in the accurate identification of bacterial isolates as well as the discovery
of novel bacteria in clinical microbiology laboratories.

Ever since the evolution of mankind the constant civilizational development is

Thus is the pursuits of finding a best solution against the traditional trend of work to

for close interaction with colleagues and supervisors and ensures you remain in touch
with company developments while still permitting you the comfort and convenience
of working from home. To conclude, there are several benefits to working from
home. Many employers have already realized this and started encouraging their
workers to work from home. In the future, we will certainly have more organizations
taking this route. There are both positives and negatives of working this way.
Although it provides freedom and reduced stress levels, it often reduces productivity.

5. Comparing Wilfred Owen And Jarrell
War Poetry: Analysis
Both Owen and Jarrell share the pains of war. Using literary devices such as
diction, imagery, and inner thoughts. Besides just the basics of literary devices the
poets also use their close affiliation of war to help express the true disasters that not
many people knew of. They possessed unusual sensibility. When digging a little
deeper you are fully able to compare Owen s Dulce et Decorum Est and Jarrell s
Death of the Ball Turret Gunner.
At first glance Wilfred Owen s Dulce et Decorum Est is blatantly organized. In fact, it
is comprised of multiple stanzas. But that is Owen s purposeful structure. When
delving further into the poem you truly start to see Owen s intentions. While some
poets romanticized war, Wilfred

exactly what had happened, he made the best colony, and no one will ever forget

9. Meritocracies In The High Middle Ages
While the early Middle Ages were a time of isolation, the High Middle Ages saw
the return of trade. As population increased, more people were able to move into
urban centers; the port cities in Italy flourished in particular. The First Crusade was
ordered by Pope Urban II in 1095 and the initial purpose was to rescue the Holy Land
from Muslim control but instead the Crusades stimulated new trade between western
Europeand the East ( The Western Heritage , lxxiii). This influx of trade resulted in
the birth of a new social class, the bourgeois. The bourgeois were merchants whose
new wealth was seen as a threat, by the nobles, to political and social order. The
creation of the bourgeois saw the beginning of meritocracy in western European
society because finally people could improve their status through hard... Show more

The bourgeois also were responsible for the fragmentation of the traditional feudal
society. The laws imposed by lords often restricted trade so wherever merchants
settled, they lobbied for the freedom necessary to pursue successful commerce (
The Western Heritage, lxx). To protect merchants and later artisans from the
damaging policies of the lords, guilds were formed. The guild worked to further
commerce and improve the lives of members. For example, as a member of a guild,
a merchant or craftsman were guaranteed that should [they] fall into poverty or
misery, all the members of the guild [would] assist him out of the treasury of the
guild or out of their own pockets (The Merchant Guild of Lynn Regis). These
associational organizations were yet another seed of modern society that was planted
by the bourgeois. As a result of the disagreements concerning trade between the
townspeople and the lords, towns began to ally themselves with kings which
contributed to the rise of national

11. A Analysis On The State Of Forest Ecosystem Services Essay
1. From the economic analysis provided by PC b, Envision Alachua definitely
appears to be an appetizing approach to utilizing Alachua County s property. PC b
states that conservation easements are likely to provide tens of millions of dollars
of value to the public in the form of forest ecosystem services (pp 18).One of the
goals of the Envision plan is to provide Alachua with recreation, aesthetics, and
cultural use through 23, 216 acres of conversation easement while also addressing
the rivalry of those goals with resources management and private use. While
conservation will diminish resource utilization for private use, PC b goes on to
state that between $18.2 and 72.8 million is valued for the services of timber,
carbon sequestration, and water quality, thus increasing natural resource common
pool goods. Regardless, even If these areas are protected from pure private use, the
county is still saving money long term as they will not have to invest in water
quality initiatives or carbon reduction. Additionally, the potential for public benefit
is even acknowledged in the dissenting SP B article, in the form of jobs for
surrounding areas which can also be seen as a Common Pool good. All in all, at the
surface, Envision Alachua seems like a promising plan that balances public and
private wants to effectively manage and conserve land through economic development
, natural resource preservation, and secondary uses such as residential areas.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN THE OUTDOORS
I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand (Confucius Chinese
philosopher 551 BC 479 BC). This quote, although it is old, still resonates in the way
we learn today. To further understand, we have to understand what affective learning
is. Affective domain of learning is area of learning concerned with feelings or
emotions associated with learning. It is the acquisition of behaviours involved in
expressing feelings in attitudes, motivation, values, appreciation and enthusiasm.
(Krathwohl, Bloom, Masia, 1973). Affective learning involves:
Receiving: The learner willing to receive information e.g. willingness to learn a new
skill like rock climbing
Responding: The learner s active attention to the instructions e.g. when shown how to
properly use a karabiner and belay devices.
Valuing: The learner respecting the instructor or teacher s directions and committing
to learning the new skill
Organization: The learner s ability to prioritise feelings and emotions concerning the
new skills
Characterisation: The learner s internalisation of the skills learnt and behaviours
relating to philosophy and characterising of values.
Affective domain of learning usually involves the learner accepting instructions then
attempting the task that has been set before them. If in a group with other learners,
there is usually support as well as questions due to the fact that there is only much the
teacher can teach about a task

Cersei Baratheon, the Queen of Kings Landing in A Game of Thrones , is also
rather similar to that of her historical counterpart, Margaret of Anjou. The two
queens hold a similar level of ambition that could likely rival that of Macbeth, doing
whatever they possibly could to keep the throne from falling into anyone s hands
other than her owns. They both also give birth to rude spoiled children that would
meet their demise in their youth.Even in terms of physical appearances they are both
similar, as both are beautiful women with straight or curly blonde hair. If there is a
difference between them, it would be the way they control the throne. Throughout the

not related to the Lancastrian family by blood. Cersei is no different, but she
actually does attain the Iron Throne of Westeros after her child s demise. On the
subject of that child, Edward of Westminster and Joffrey Baratheon also have
comparisons, but not as many similarities as the two

Refereeing to Medieval times, I relate to standing up to my values and being the

certain personal code of chivalry. They always obeyed this rules because it was
what their life counted on. When you re young, your parents set up morals and
values they want you to follow. They are supposed to set up a good example for
you. That s a parent s responsibility for their child. At a young age, you don t get to
decide if you want to follow those values and believe in them. During the Medieval

Robert Frost s Acquainted with the Night is about a man who frequently journeys
out at night and roams about the city alone. He is familiar with the atmosphere
around him and it s apparent he has wandered far beyond the city. Throughout the
poem the speaker does not communicate with anyone and a sense of silence and
suspense pervade his walks. It is understood that the speaker is very lonely on his
walks and often finds himself hoping someone would call out to him. As the speaker
strolls through the dark city streets midst the night, it s evident that he is deeply
troubled and dismal as the poem develops a gloomy, dejected tone. The poem begins
by stating I have been one acquainted with the night which implies that the speaker is

As Roger Gilbert stated Such grammar dispels the kind of precise sequential focus
that the earlier poems display, instead creating a repetitive space in which
constancy rather than change is emphasized (49 74) the repetition of the phrase i
have adds a routined feel to the poem and reveals that his walks never impact his
outlook and leave him with a constant state of mind. The speakers determination to
continuously proceed on his walks is demonstrated when he states I have walked
out in the rain and back again in the rain. / i have outwalked the furthest city light.
The furthest city light is a representation of the final signs of life the speaker passes
before he can reach absolute darkness physically as well as mentally. By entering
blackness, the speaker demonstrates a desire for loneliness and isolation from any
form of life. Similarly, Roger Gilbert s stated: the speaker makes a point of
outwalk[ing] the furthest city light (49 74),leaving behind the human markers and
habitations that create a sense of community, and faring into a lonelier kind of
landscape. The last words of the first and third lines rhyme night and light to link
them together and emphasize the contrast of the bright city lights compared to his
own darkness. The night is oftenly associated with its own horrors and mystery, and
speaker relates to the night because it corresponds with his own sorrowful

19. Reflection Paper On Leadership
What is leadership?
Leadership is not something you re born with, it is something that develops over
time. Some of the world s greatest leaders were also people who no one had faith
in the beginning. To me, leadership has nothing to do with where you came from or
your past, it is about where you are going and how you are going to get there. I used
to think leadership was something you were assigned. It did not always need a title,
but I thought others were the ones who decided if I was a leader or not. I ve come
to realize that I am the one who chooses whether or not I m a leader. Every day
people are faced with new challenges and obstacles. How we face these obstacles
says a lot about our leadership abilities. Throughout the LEAD 212 course, I have
grown both as a person and as a leader. I have been able to better understand myself,
as well as understand the people around me. An example of this would be the CLE
project that our learning community participated in during the semester. The entire
experience developed my growth in learning about the social problem of food
insecurity. Before the CLE, I knew that food insecurity was a problem, but I did
not realize what the root of the problem was. I also did not understand all of the
factors that could come into play and how food insecurity was alive in our
communities today. I now have a better understanding of where the problem lies and
why it continues to be such an issue in towns and cities all over the country. It s a
worldwide issue, not just in a few localized areas.
Through this project, I also became more informed about Socially Responsible
Leadership/ Social Change Leadership. Leadership is not just for ourselves; our
leadership can impact change on behalf of others. Social responsibility involves a
sense of responsibility to others, and it means that we care about and are committed
to other people s lives. By practicing socially responsible leadership, I was able to
truly think about how to come up with a solution for different types of problems that
people face every day. Another topic that was covered in this course that highly
affected me throughout the semester was the idea of Inclusive Leadership. I ve
practiced the idea that hen meeting someone

national economy, a historical perspective must be considered. In the past 20 years,
household debt has fluctuated immensely and has demonstrated a significant impact
on the Canadian economy.
Beginning in the twentieth century, household debt levels were increasing as the
standard of living was rising. As technology and innovation was becoming a large
part of industrial growth and new commodities were becoming available to
consumers, households began demanding a wider array of goods and services. These
commodities included vehicles, appliances and other modern devices were heavily
demanded by North American and European consumers. These commodities were
purchased on credit and were considered easy credit . This allowed the mindsets of
consumers to shift from saving to spending.
An especially important period of time for household debt was from 1980 to 2007. At
this time, households were incurring a copious amount of mortgage and consumer
debt. As stated above, this shift from saving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Highly indebted Canadians were not able to spend in the way that they used to and
instead were spending their savings and disposable income trying to pay off their
household debt. This lead to high unemployment due to the lack of demand for
commodities and subsequently a depressed economy.
Economists have determined that severe economic downturns such as the 2008
financial crisis are almost always preceded by a sharp increase in household debt. As
well, economists found that when housing prices fall, lower income homeowners are
affected the most and reduce their consumption relatively more than wealthier
homeowners. Declines in real estate investments also preceded the recession and
were followed by reductions in household spending and then nonresidential business
investments as the recession
21. Simplicity By William Zinsser
William Zinsser is an American writer who wrote an informational guide to
writing. He made a decision to revise a specific chapter called Simplicity. In the
year 1980, the first version of Simplicity was created, then came 1998 followed up
by 2006. In the first version, 1980, Zinsser created a long and wordy paper. He
used specific examples but included details that were unnecessary. This is ironic
because the paper is about how writers can write unnecessary words and phrases
creating complicated sentences. He was not inclusive of gender, naming men as
writers and only using wives as examples of distraction. This draft had a complete
count of 20 paragraphs. The 1998 version had few changes when compared to the
1980 s version. There... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Paragraph 2 2006) He changed viscous language to clotted language. This makes
sense, he used a more commonly used word to this time period making it readable
to a younger generation of readers and writers. (Paragraph 2 2006) He took out on
Christmas Eve or any other eve , this made sense because it was an extra unneeded
detail. The sentence made complete sense just as what father or mother can put
together a child s toy from the instructions on the box? . In paragraph 4 he changed
what was originally the president of a major university in versions from 1980 and
98 to the president of my university in the 2006 version, making a personal
connection with the reader. (Paragraph 8 2006) He completely redid the paragraph.
In the 1980 and 1994 version, the 8th paragraph was completely unneeded and
included a story that seemed unrelated to the topic of writing. It started as I love to be
alone . The 2006 version of this paragraph wasn t completely off topic from the
original. I still believe this paragraph isn t needed, even with the shortening. With
the 2006 version he has taken out the he s and switched to they . This allows
women to feel included, making it more likely for a female to enjoy the writing. It
felt noninclusive in the first two versions. In the newest version (paragraph 10) he
included devices relevant to that time period. Instead of saying he, he said a man or
woman could be distracted by many forces
22. Meursault Thesis Statement
Meursault should be allowed to live because he acted out of self defense. Although
he was not in immediate danger when he shot it was clear that there was not any
chance that the Arab man brought out the knife just to have a friendly chat with
Meursault. If he had waited to make sure that the man was going to hurt him it would
risk the man either throwing the knife and mortally wounding Meursault or possibly
just being able to get close enough to stab Meursault. The moment that the two of
them met alone, both wielding dangerous weapons was the moment that they both
realized that there was no possible way that they were both walking away from that
beach alive. Although with that being said there were other ways to possibly disable

Meursault s lack of motivation and care about everything was shown to even give in
to him just being killed. Although he has a change of heart later on during and
before the trial Meursault was shown to not really care about the whole ordeal and
has already accepted the fact that he will be punished for the murder of the Arab. A
quote that shows just how much he really cares about his own life was shown when
he was first brought to the police. I said that I thought my case was pretty simple
(Camus.63). This quote demonstrates his acceptance of the fact that he did commit a
crime and that he should be punished. It also shows how fast he is to give up in a
desperate situation. He later when the verdict is announced didn t seem that shocked
by being put to the death penalty. This fact shows that he is either in agreement with
the verdict or he has already come to terms with what he
23. Are You A Mentor Chapter 1 Summary
Chapter 5: Are You a Mentor? , provides advice on how to and how not to find a
mentor. Having mentorship is important to career succession, but what is the best
way to find and maintain a mentor. Since, unfortunately, women seem to have more
difficulty than men in finding a mentor, Sandberg suggests that rather than asking
someone to be your mentor, women should Excel and you will get a mentor. She
emphasizes to do good work, ask profound questions and always be respectful of you

Many ambitious and successful women in the workplace begin declining offers or
stop pursuing better positions due to fear that they may not be able to handle the
responsibility once they have a child, long before they are even close to having a
child. Sandberg suggests that women not take their foot of the gas pedal or put on
the brakes until they need to. In chapter 8: Make a Partner a Real Partner, Sandberg
stresses the importance of having a partner who is willing to split the roles at home
so that the time and workload is 50/50. She believes that just as women must be more
empowered at work, men must be more empowered at home. Admitting that this
easier said than done, it ends up being better for everyone. In chapter 9, The Myth of
Doing it All, Sandberg explains that it is impossible for anyone to do it all. Many
working mothers feel guilty when they compare themselves to stay at home mothers,
assuming that they spend more time with their children than working mothers can.
Studies show no difference in child outcome from working mothers and stay at home

Comparing William Faulkner s Light in August and Henry James Portrait of a Lady
Light in August and Portrait of a Lady are two novels which embodies within them,
life affirming morals. Authors like William Faulkner and Henry James possess the
art of making the reader learn by experiencing for themselves. William Faulkner uses
the technique of introspection as well as by showing how characters and their
actions can affect one another. Henry James also shows that a character s actions and
decisions can greatly affect one s future and happiness. Both authors focus on the
power of words that function only to categorize individuals into certain races or
social classes.

26. Planning Is The Process Of Determining Appropriate
Goals...
1.One thing I ve learned from this chapter is that planning is the process of
determining appropriate goals and courses of action. Once a plan has been created
the next step is to design a strategy. A strategy is a series or managerial decisions that
help managers obtain organizational goals. For most organizations, there are three
steps to planning. The first step is the creation of a mission statement. A mission
statement is essential for a company to clearly communicate what it does and how
it does it with outside investors and people in general. A mission statement is a
broad statement of what a company s purpose is as well as what the company does
(i.e. selling goods or services) and who they do it with (i.e. people of certain
demographic or geographic location). The next phase in the planning process is
formulating a strategy. Formulating a strategy is done by examining a company s
present situation and creating strategies to overcome any challenges facing the
company. This method gives people from different departments direction which is
advantageous when attempting to achieve the company s desired future state. The
final step in the planning process is implementing the strategy. The strategy is
implemented by managers who allocate resources and responsibilities to people and
groups within an organization in the most efficient and effective manner possible im
order to achieve the company s goals. After a strategy has been implemented
managers look at the results. If
27. Brutus Vs Antony Essay
It s not always about being right or wrong, it s about who can win over the audience.
This is relevant, because Brutus and Mark Antony both give speeches to the Roman
people to try and persuade them to side with them. Antony used rhetoric more
strategically and successfully, therefore, the people sided with him. Brutus and
Antony have similarities between their speeches. They both have differences
throughout their speeches. In the end, one of the speeches worked better on the
people and they either sided with Brutus or Antony. There is similarities between both
of their speeches. They both started their speeches off with three memorable words.

Antony gave his speech right after Brutus, which was perfect timing, because the
people didn t have to time to fully think about what Brutus said. Brutus told the
crowd that he killed Caesar because he was too ambitious, but gave no good
evidence of how he was ambitious. Antony proved to the crowd that Caesar wasn t
ambitious by giving three examples. The examples he gave were, He brought many
captives home to Rome whose ransoms brought wealth to the city (III, ii, 87 88),
When the poor cried, Caesar cried too (III, ii, 90), and He refused the crown three
times (III, ii, 95 96). After them examples, the people believed suffered a terrible
wrong. Antony then showed the crowd Caesar s cloak and pointed out where
Brutus stabbed and said, For Brutus, as you know, was Caesar s angel. The gods
know how dearly Caesar loved him (III, ii, 176 177). Lastly, Antony read Caesar s
will to the people and told them that Caesar left every individual seventy five
drachmas and left them all of his walk ways. After the showing of the cloak and the
reading of the will, the people want revenge on the Brutus and the

Just how random are random events? I was in the third grade when I watched my
grandma place diyas, small cup shaped oil lamps, around the house on Diwali, the
Hindu festival of lights. Because I was too young to light the matches myself, I
would watch my grandma ignite the fire on the matches to light the candles. As an
eight year old fascinated with the idea of pretty lights, I would watch as the flames
danced in random directions, intrigued by the flickering images they were capable
of producing. Surely, I thought, there must be some way to predict their motion?
This curiosity only gained momentum as I grew older. I would turn on the sink tap
and observe the flow of water. I would observe that not only did the shape of the
water continually change with varying streaks and peaks in the outflow, but there
would be subtle changes in the sound that would take place without intervention. It
was amusing and interesting. During summer vacation, while playing soccer in the
garage, I would see rays of light shyly sneaking in through the cracks of the garage

destinations. What is the force behind all of this randomness? In science class, I get

30. Life Is Not Worth Living In Plato s Apology
In Plato s Apology, Socrates famously states in his defense at his trial that the
unexamined life is not worth living . I believe this statement to be true for the
following reason: examining one s life allows one to set goals, ponder on what is
important, define one s values, and to contemplate what one stands for or against;
further, in the event that a person does not examine their life, then they are living
without purpose simply operating like an ant following clockwork and failing to
understand individual values and beliefs. A potential counterargument is that
because a person s motives, beliefs and values are constantly changing due to drives
and desires and, assuming people simply follow these desires, one cannot examine
their own life because of change in the individual state of being. Once a person
changes in the aforementioned aspects, they are essentially a separate person from
the past, meaning the examination itself is useless in determining whether a life is
worth living. Further, this means that the only thing which does matter in
determining the value of a life is one s success in achieving his own desires.
However, I would counter this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

becomes an entirely different person making it impossible and ultimately fruitless to
examine one s life. In order to have a life truly worth living, what actually matters is
simply the betterment of an individual through successfully attaining desires. In
essence, it is better to simply tackle the goal head on than to waste time focusing on

The new WLAN network will be protected by multiple firewalls, IPS, IDS, and a
file integrity system. The Firewall systems will be used to prevent scanning
activity as well as blocking malicious IPs from entering the network. This is critical
because being able to block this type of traffic can save a network and the people
who watch it a lot of time on incident investigations. When hackers are scanning a
network they are looking for reply backs from any port(s) that will respond. This
can help them finger print a system and by knowing what is on a network they can
use this information for crafting attacks. Once this is identified by a security team
they can block the intruding IP at the firewall. This will prevent all traffic coming
and going to the suspicious IP in question. The IPS and IDS systems will be
another addition that will be used to protect the Riordan Manufacturing networks as
well. There is a difference between these two systems and it is important to know
what each one does. The IPS stand for Intrusion Prevention System. This system is

A fantasy is an imaginary world where all things imaginable can be brought to life.
J.R.R Tolkien portrayed fantasy through his use of skilled craftsmanship and a vivid
imagination, which was presented in each piece of literature he wrote. In Tolkien s
two stories The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings we see the theme of fantasy brought
to life through three essential elements, heroism, magic and retribution. Heroism is
shown through the character s courage and bravery in situations where conflict
arises and this enables them to be seen in a new light. Magic is a form of
extraordinary power seemingly through a supernatural force; it is used in a

As a child this character encountered Smaug for the first time while fleeing the
ruination of their city; now even though Bard was overcome with the fear that
every mortal has when they are near one of these tremendous beasts, he was

able to accomplish this impossible task because a small thrush perched on his
shoulder and told him of the one weak spot of the dragon, the hollow of its left
breast. Bard then inflicted death upon the terrible Smaug with his last arrow and was
nearly killed himself by the tremendous weight of the beast in the process, but he
jumped out of the way and into the water just in the nick of time. With a shriek that
deafened man, felled trees and split stone, Smaug shot spouting into the air, turned

A character that displays the traits of heroism is one who overcomes the odds

bat like source of evil stood on the bridge to freedom and did battle with the poor
mage. Gandalf, stricken with fear caused the bridge to collapse and with it fell the

roles as a daily bases and improve these roles to become powerful needed skills. By
enhancing those skills, they turn those skills to professional roles that change the

because of their skills and talents. Others disagree and say that pianists became
professional because of their passion for piano. A professional pianist, like Hieu Tri,

impact but because people at that time didn t quite understand the dynamite that this
trade usually ended in death. Because shipping dynamite at that time wasn t safe,
many catastrophes happened. For example, a shipment route to California blew up in
Panama, killing 60 and causing a half million dollars in damage. Nobel s own
dynamite factory in Hamburg, Germany, blew up leaving nothing but a shattered
foundation and killing his brother. Later in WW1 the dynamite became one of the
popular weapons in used. Because of this dynamite, thousands lost their lives,
thousands lost their homes and millions lost their loved ones. It turned Earth into a

In addition the Department of Justice Canada states that abuse may affect virtually

not wanting to enter into another relationship. These mental issues are an important
part of spousal abuse that I feel should have been portrayed more in this movie, in

of abuse. When looking at how this movie portrays Martin, I believe that it covers
some very common areas that can lead to spousal abuse. First

Trajan the Roman Emperor was born as Marcus Ulpius Trajanus. He was of
Spanish descent born on September 18, 52 AD to an Umbrian family. He was
basically brought up in an environment which always involved government and
military affairs, which was the result of his father being a very prominent man. His
father was the first to reach the office of senator, and also commanded the Tenth
Legion of Fretensis during the Jewish War of 67 68 AD. He became consul around
the year 70 AD, and in the year 75 AD, became governor of Syria, and the provinces
of Baetica and Asia. While his father acted as governor of Syria, Trajanserved as
military tribune. A bronze sculpture at Harvard University showcases his physique
in ceremonial armor standing as if addressing his troops. Most artifacts found
showcase his military achievements, and this was no exception. He was dignified
and humble toward the Roman people, and they gave their thanks through artifacts
which still exist today. He was an emperor who enjoyed the brutal aspect of war,
which was because he was good at it. This can be seen through all of his military
achievements as a general. He was naturally very popular with the troops,
especially because he was so willing to share the hardships alongside his soldiers
rather than receiving any type of special treatment. His path toward emperor was a
long and hard one. He had a long and fulfilling career in government before hand.
First, he gained the office of praetorship in 85 AD.

Within the text, Ross outlines arguments for his definitions of the right and the
good, as well as what things are right and what things are good. This paper will
focus on chapter five of The Right and the Good, entitled What Things Are Good? I
will give an account of what is written in chapter five, including arguments,
objections, and replies. The purpose of this paper is not to agree with or oppose the
points that Ross makes, but rather to explain his points and the objections and
responses that are proposed. The chapter addresses the question, what kinds of things

Ross addresses the argument that virtue always promotes the general pleasure, and
that therefore pleasure is not an intrinsic good, by pointing the reader back toward
his Two Universe Argument. Additionally, he addresses the tendency of other
moralists to insist that pleasure involves the desire to either bring pleasure or
cause pain, regarding the two as opposing forces and implying that pleasure is
always good and pain is always bad (5.3). Ross objects to the idea that our thoughts
regarding kindness as good implies that pleasure prima facie ( where other
considerations do not enter into the case ) good just as pain is prima facie bad
(5.3). Ross also addresses the objection that merit, as it tends to insist that virtue be
rewarded by happiness, requires that happiness and unhappiness are not in
themselves things indifferent, but are good and bad respectively (5.3). After
outlining Kant s points on the matter, Ross replies that by pointing out the
occasions when we think a lustful or cruel action is bad; and we think it a good
thing that people should be pained rather than pleased by contemplating vice or
misery (5.6). He asks the reader to think carefully about what it is that we mean
when we make claims regarding whether or not pleasure and pain are good or bad.
For this exercise in thinking, Ross states that what is good or bad is always
40. Stonehaven Case Analysis Essay
Stonehaven, Inc.
Case Analysis
March 19, 2013
Part A
For this part of the analysis, consider each department in the Gdansk factory in
isolation. Assume that the rest of the production system has no impact on the
department you are considering. Assume that material handling times are negligible
and ignore variability in processing times.
1. For the typical 100 pair batch, what is the daily capacity and manufacturing lead
time within each of the following departments?
a. Cutting
8 hrs/day x 60 min/hr = 480 min/day
Machine 1 = (0.05 x 4)(100) + (5.25 x 4) = 41 min/batch
Machine 2 = (0.05 x 4)(100) + (5.00 x 4) = 40 min/batch
Machine 3 = (0.04 x 4)(100) + (4.00 x 4) = 32 min/batch

Therefore, the time given is the time it takes to stamp 1 of the 4 components on one
machine. Another assumption I have made is the workers performing the stitching
are all equally paced. It takes each worker the exact same amount of time to perform
their duties and pass the product along to the next group.
Part B
Now consider the factory as a system, and take into account interactions between the
departments.
3. Assuming production is done in 100 pair batches, what is the factory s daily
capacity?
Cutting 41 min/batch
Stitching 133 min/batch
Lasting 33.2 min/batch
Capacity of the Factory = 480 min/day Г· 133 min/batch = 3.6 batches/day
4. What is the total MLT for a 100 pair batch?
41. MLT
Cutting= 41 min/batch
Kitting= 10 min/batch
Stitching= 133 min/batch
Steaming= 6 hrs x 60 min = 360 min/batch
Lasting= 33.2 min/batch
TOTAL MLT= 577.2 min/batch
Part C
5. How would you go about deciding the appropriate batch size for the Stonehaven
factory? What factors would you consider? How do they interrelate? (You may wish
to do some calculations, but concentrate on thinking conceptually.)
6. Focus only on your highest priorities for improving the production process at
Stonehaven s Gdansk factory (be specific). Explain why they are important. What
actions do you recommend? How would you implement your recommendations?
What do you predict will be the consequences?

42. Evidence-Based Program (EBP)
As a beginning point in the selection of an evidence based program (EBP), it is
crucial to distinguish the extent of the EBP. This process has four (4) elements: 1)
intended population; 2) intervention target; 3) baseline severity level; and 4)
intervention delivery characteristics (Durlak DuPre, 2008). 1)Intended population:
For whom is the intervention intended? Intended population alludes to what
individuals will be provided intervention. EBPs commonly determine certain
population attributes for whom they are expected and/or with whom they have been
tested. These attributes incorporate traits, for example, developmental level (age
range or grade range), sex, race/ethnicity, and dialect. Along these lines, it is critical to

A rigorous evaluation typically involves either an experimental design (like that
used in randomized controlled trials) or a quasi experimental design. In an
experimental design, people are randomly assigned to either a treatment group,
which participants in the program, or the control group, which does not. After the
program is completed, the outcomes of these two (2) groups are compared. This
type of research design helps ensure that any observed differences in outcomes
between the two (2) groups are the result of the program and not other factors.
Given that randomization is not always possible, a quasi experimental design is
sometimes used. In evaluations using this design, the program participants are
compared to a group of people similar in many ways to the program participants.
However, because a quasi experimental design does not randomly assign
participants to program and non program groups, it is not as strong a design as the
experimental approach. Because there may be unobserved differences between the
two (2) groups of people who are being compared, this design does not allow
program evaluators to conclude with the same certainty that the program itself was
responsible for the impacts observed. Therefore, it would be conducive to try and
conduct an experimental design if at all possible (Cooney, Huser, Small, O Connor,
43. Henry Ford Biography Essay
Before 1907 when Henry Ford installed the first assembly line, the early 20th century
provided automobiles for mostly the rich as a showing of keeping up with the
Jonseses. The car models were mostly complicated machines which mostly required a
chauffeur knowledgeable on how to operate the complex automobile. The invention
helped reduce a four men work to a one men power. It first took around more than 12
hours to build one car to 2 hours and about 30 minutes. Henry Fordsaid that by the
aid of scientific study one man is now able to do somewhat more than four did only
a comparatively few years ago. That line established the efficiency of the method and
we now use it everywhere. The assembling of the motor, formerly done by one man,

Around 1901 it showed that he had been a supervisor and stockholder for the
automobile companies. In 1902 Henry Ford started the Ford Motor Company with an
$28,000 investment. He also smart planned his success. He didn t really trust the
banks that kept his investors at an odd. His early plans were to offer the bankers
who wanted to invest in his company that would offer dealer franchises. This
required the franchise dealers to pay for the automobiles when they were received
instead of when they were sold. This helped him have additional capital to expand
his manufacturing enterprise, invest in research and provide for his dream. Henry
Ford stated that I would build a car for the great multitude. It will be large enough
for the family, but small enough for the individual to run and care for. It will be
constructed of the best materials, by the best men to be hired, after the simplest
designs that modern engineering can devise. But it will be low in price that no
man making a good salary will be unable to own one and enjoy with his family the
blessing of hours of pleasure in God s great open spaces. This soon clearly started
his dreams he announced in 1907 that soon came true. Henry Ford built nine models
before the Model T came forward, a significant
44. Atomoxetine Research Paper
Atomoxetine Stimulant medication for ADHD has evidence for safety and efficacy,
however this does not rule out 30% of the population that does not respond to
stimulants. Non stimulants are very useful in these situations. Atomoxetine (ATM) is
a norepinephrine transport inhibitor and was the first non stimulant to be approved
for use in ADHD. The daily recommended dose for children is 1.4mg/kg. The exact
mechanism of action is unknown for ATM, however research suggests it is a
selective inhibitor of presynaptic NOR transporters, therefore inhibiting reuptake of
norepinephrine. Primarily, the CYP2D6 isoenzyme pathway hepatically metabolizes
ATM and undergoes oxidation, forming the active metabolite 4 hydroxatomoxetine.
The second metabolite
45. Barker V. Hennessy Industries Case Summary
Case Study: Barker v. Hennessy Industries Inc.
In the wrongful death case of Barker v. Hennessy, Richard Barker s widow and
children filed a claim against Hennessy Industries Inc. for losses sustained by virtue
of the death of Richard Barker. Barker claimed that Hennessy Industries Inc. was
liable for her husband s death, under the theories of strict liability, negligence, false
representation, and concealment, since they manufactured the equipment that was
used to grind, sand, and cut asbestos brake linings and shoes that Barker had used in
his profession as a mechanic ( Fern Barker v. Hennessy Industries Inc | FindLaw,
n.d.). The court ruled in favor of Hennessy, finding that they were not liable because
the machines that Hennessy made did not actually contain the asbestos that caused
the death of Barker.
Personal Observations
My personal observation is that Hennessy s machines were designed to cut, grind,
and sand asbestos containing materials. Asbestos exposure is not a risk, until the
asbestos containing material is disturbed or damaged ( Learn About Asbestos |
Asbestos | US EPA, 2015). The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Do you agree or disagree? For the reasons stated in the first part of this paper, I do
agree that Hennessy had a duty to warn and that the failure to do so makes them
liable. Additionally, since in the case of Bettencourt v. Hennessy Industries Inc., 206
Cal.App.4th 140 (2012) was initially decided in favor of Bettencourt ( Uncertainty
in CA: Non Asbestos Products Used With Asbestos Products | Asbestos
/ Mesothelioma Personal Injury Trial Attorney, 2012), I do not believe that this was a
simple case to decide and that the ruling of the court could have easily gone the other
way.

this gone to
