1. Traction.
The opening scene shows continuity flow in the editing, the actual
shotitself is a mid-shotthat seems to focus on the lower half of
multiple females that shows clearmale perspectives and
objectifies women, allowing Laura mulveys gendertheoryto be
applied to the production. The diegetic background noise ofchatter
shows that the piece is based on realism/fiction.
Body language is a cleartool in this production,in the beginning
we notice the women shows clearsigns ofbeing happy, the
smiling face and laughter allows us to understand howthe woman
feels towards the man.The use of a facial close ups showthe
emotions clearer. Whilst the diegetic sound ofconversation also
suggests these two are both happyand getting along.
The bodylanguage ofthe male character creates tension as he
cracks a joke followed by an unwanted response which then
creates an awkwardness and intern making the audience cringe.
Once again the close up shot allows us to gather this through the
ability to let us see his facial expressions and understand the
sudden change in mood.Match on action is prevalentin the whole
of the production and is the main tool used to allow the audience to
understand the emotions of the characters that seem to be
constantly developing.
2. Traction.
We notice through the use of mise en scene in the shotthat the woman is now
distressed/annoyed and we can tell this by her bodylanguage e.g.the hand
behind herhead shows clearagitation meanwhile the widened eyes suggestto
us that she is shocked bywhatwas said from the male character. The frequent
use of the close up shotonce again allows us to understand the emotions of the
characters (emotions being a cleartheme in the piece that constantly develops).
in the final shot, we notice the woman opening the doorand leaving without
showing anysigns of affection towards the man and therefore suggests there’s a
conflict between , herquick, rash movements also suggests herannoyance.A
fast panning shotfollows herand could shows that the woman is in a clearrush
to leave which again shows the switch from them two being affectionate to her
wanting nothing to do with him. The diegetic sound ofcity activity also creates
this sense of‘rush’.
