Pioneers like Mint in the financial sector, Amazon in retail or Netflix in media proved that turning Big Data into actions and insights at the customer touch points delivers measurable outcomes – increased transformation rate, larger share of wallet, better customer acquisition, just in time fraud detection, etc. They showcased that it is possible today to put in place a platform for the management of customer data that is able to integrate and deliver information in real time, regardless of the interaction channel being used… and as a result establish the foundation to disrupt a whole industry with data driven processes.
Now, this Customer Data Platform is reaching the mainstream through affordable technologies such as Hadoop and Spark, if empowered with embedded data and application integration, data governance, master data management, analytics and real time data processing. This platform, sometimes referred as Customer Data Platform (CDP) or as a Data Management Platform (DMP), allows organizations to reconstruct the entire customer journey by centralizing and cross referencing interactional or internal data such as purchase history, preferences, satisfaction, and loyalty with social or external data that can uncover customer intention as well as broader habits and tastes.
In this presentation, attendees will get knowledge of the key components of the platform, how to implement it, and how to run it in the context of the enterprise marketing activities.

Seeing Redshift: How Amazon Changed Data Warehousing ForeverInside Analysis
The Briefing Room with Claudia Imhoff and Birst
Live Webcast April 9, 2013
What a difference a day can make! When Amazon announced their new RedShift offering – a data warehouse in the cloud – the entire industry of information management changed. The most notable disruption? Price. At a whopping $1,000 per year for a terabyte, RedShift achieved a price-point improvement that amounts to at least two orders of magnitude, if not three when compared to its top-tier competitors. But pricing is just one change; there's also the entire process by which data warehousing is done.
Register for this episode of The Briefing Room to hear veteran Analyst Dr. Claudia Imhoff explain why a new cloud-based reality for data warehousing significantly changes the game for business intelligence and analytics. She'll be briefed by Brad Peters of Birst who will tout his company's BI solution, which has been specifically architected for cloud-based hosting. Peters will discuss several key intricacies of doing BI in the cloud, including the unique provisioning, loading and modeling requirements. Founded in 2004, Birst has nearly a decade of doing cloud-based BI and Analytics.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

The introduction of DLAU and the CCB & CCX licensing model caused quite a stir in the HCL community. As a Notes and Domino customer, you may have faced challenges with unexpected user counts and license costs. You probably have questions on how this new licensing approach works and how to benefit from it. Most importantly, you likely have budget constraints and want to save money where possible. Don’t worry, we can help with all of this!
We’ll show you how to fix common misconfigurations that cause higher-than-expected user counts, and how to identify accounts which you can deactivate to save money. Example of data, that can be used by a pharmaceutical company to understand
their basic potential starting on the Zip code level.
These datapoints are used to identify potential across Zip codes, cities, counties,
Sales territories, metropolitan areas, etc.
Sample of data that can be integrated into RealZips:
Federal database of Medicare reimbursed visits to emergency care departments.
This data provides a extremely powerful targeting capabilities, when combined with ERP sales data and CRM data.

Push the trigger out to your ERP system.
Your use cases are endless, as you enable GeoData across your systems.
The next level is connecting to the Internet of Things (IoT) and Big Data sources.
The massive amounts of data becomes manageable and actionable,
since the RealZips app aggregates the data on a Zip code level
If you have access to IoT databases:
Aggregate key datapoints from the devices.
- Internet-connected device has a geolocation datapoint, can be converted to a Zip code.
- The data is then aggregated on a Zip code level.
Use RealZips to collect your or your partners data from health monitors.
Since RealZips aggregates data on a Zip code level, patient privacy is not an issue.
Match health care data demographics data and weather data, to discover patterns.
Example of IoT data that drive marketing activities:
Jawbone recently published a US map of when people go to bed.
This data is not collected by a survey.
- Instead, it’s a live feed coming from the Jawbone wearable armbands.
Imagine what’s possible, when combining this data with all your sales data, CRM data, and demographics in the RealZips app.
With all GeoData aggregated into RealZips, combined with your own and external live feeds:
You are creating 40,000 micromarkets, where every Zip code represent growth opportunity

Create indexes and ratings to drive laser-focues marketing campaings, bases on:
- Demographics
- Weather
- Own sales data
- CRM data (your own sales and marketing team. Channel Partner activity)
- IoT data
- Social Media mentions
All key metrics that empower sales teams can be served up in real-time in the Salesforce1 mobile app.
