The active ingredient contained in Alfusin
tablets is Alfuzosin Hydrochloride. Each film-
coated extended-release tablet contains 10
mg of Alfuzosin Hydrochloride.

Alfusin (Alfuzosin Hydrochloride Tablets) an
alpha-1-adrenergic receptor antagonist, is
used for the treatment of signs and
symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Alfusin tablets are not indicated for the
treatment of hypertension.
Alfusin tablets are not indicated for use in
pediatric population

➢The recommended dosage is
one 10 mg Alfusin tablet once
daily to be taken immediately
after the same meal each day.
The tablets must never be
chewed or crushed.

Alfusin (Alfuzosin Hydrochloride
Tablets) have to be stored at controlled
room temperature i.e. from 20°C to 25°C
(68°F to 77°F) .
Store in a cool dry place. Protect from
light.
Keep this as well as all other medicines
away from children and pets.

Care must be taken in patients with
symptomatic hypotension or who have had a
hypotensive response to other medications or
are simultaneously treated with
antihypertensive medication or nitrates.
Use Alfusin (Alfuzosin Hydrochloride Tablets)
with caution in patients with severe renal
impairment.
This medication should not be used in
combination with other alpha-blockers.
Prostate carcinoma should be ruled out prior
to treatment.

10. Alfuzin Warnings

Intraoperative Floppy Iris Syndrome (IFIS)
during cataract surgery may require
modifications to the surgical technique.
Discontinue Alfusin (Alfuzosin
Hydrochloride Tablets) in case symptoms
of angina pectoris appear or worsen.
Use this medicine with caution in patients
with a history of QT prolongation or who
are taking medications which prolong the
QT interval.

Contraindications
Alfusin is contraindicated in patients with a
hypersensitivity to Alfuzosin Hydrochloride
or any other component of this medication.
This medicine is also contraindicated in
patients with moderate or severe hepatic
impairment.
Co-administration with potent CYP3A4
inhibitors (e.g. ketoconazole, itraconazole,
ritonavir) is contraindicated.

➢Most common Alfuzosin Hydrochloride
(Alfusin Tablets) side effects in clinical studies
with an incidence rate of 2% or more are
dizziness, upper respiratory infection, headache,
fatigue.
➢Side effects reported during post-marketing
experience include: angina pectoris in patients
with pre-existing coronary artery disease,
hepatocellularand cholestatic liver injury,
priapism, angioedema.
➢Other side effects have also been reported

13. Alfuzosin Hydrochloride Overdose

In case an overdose of Alfuzosin
Hydrochloride (Alfusin Tablets) leads to
hypotension, support of the
cardiovascular system is of first
importance.
Restoration of blood pressure and
normalization of heart rate may be
accomplished by keeping the patient in
the supine position. If case this measure
is not adequate, then the administration
of intravenous fluids must be considered.

In case necessary, vasopressors
must then be used and the renal
function should be monitored and
supported as required.
Alfuzosin Hydrochloride (Alfusin
tablets) is 82% to 90% protein-
bound; therefore, dialysis may not be
of benefit.

15. Alfuzosin During Pregnancy

Alfuzosin Hydrochloride (Alfusin Tablets)
has been classified by the US FDA as
Pregnancy Category B.
Alfuzosin Hydrochloride is not indicated for
use in women, and there are no studies of
Alfuzosin Hydrochloride in pregnant
women.
Animal studies have not revealed any
evidence of teratogenicity or
embryotoxicity.
