Self Assessment – writing targets Target Mark Comment Write with appropriate structure and organization. 1 2 3 4 5 I feel that I have created a good speech and I have followed the way you asked us to write the speeches. Use quality openings 1 2 3 4 5 I don’t think that my opening was the best in the world but was not the worst opening either ,I think it was more or less average. Use paragraphs effectively 1 2 3 4 5 I think I have used paragraphs well but not amazingly although I placed them in the right places on the queue cards. Write with detail 1 2 3 4 5 I think I wrote with detail that was appropriate and necessary but if I had a couple more days there could have been much more. Set out arguments and draw them to a conclusion effectively 1 2 3 4 5 I think that I did set out my arguments well and I did bring them to conclusion effectively . I feel that my conclusion grabbed attention really well.

4. Self Assessment – Questionnaire In what way(s) do you think you could have improved the delivery of your speech? I think I could have been much more expressive and I could have memorized my speech much better as I made a couple of mistakes during my speech. After watching everyone’s speech, what were some things that stood out in your mind? One thing that certainly stood out in my mind that this year there was going to be competition and that my little mistakes could decide who is going through. . How did you prepare for the speech? I prepared by practice, practice, practice and more practice but I also prepared with advice from my parents and my teacher.

First of all I think that my conclusion was ‘fantastic’ because it really got peoples a peoples attention and second of all I think that my content was great. 5. How do you feel about giving speeches? I think that giving speeches is fun but it can get a bit nerve racking in front of a large audience but it doesn’t stop me.
