The student provided a self-assessment of a speech they gave. They rated themselves on various criteria such as structure, openings, use of paragraphs, detail, and argument development. For most areas, they rated themselves a 3-5 out of 5 and provided comments explaining their ratings. They identified some areas for improvement such as adding more detail and strengthening their conclusion. In a follow up questionnaire, the student reflected on ways to improve their delivery, what they noticed about other speeches, and how they prepared for their own speech.

I think I did it in the perfect structure. Use quality openings 1 2 3 4 5 I think I used a pretty good opening because I used a very good rhetorical question and a good intro. Use paragraphs effectively 1 2 3 4 5 I used a lot of paragraphs and they effected my speech very well. It also helped my speech in lots of other ways. Write with detail 1 2 3 4 5 I think I didn’t write with as much detail that I thought I could but I didn’t too little either. Also I think it could be improved. Set out arguments and draw them to a conclusion effectively 1 2 3 4 5 I think I wrote it quite well and I made sure I mentioned what I was trying to tell everybody. It was a pretty set out argument only it needed more information and the conclusion should have been better.
