Queen Elizabeth has sent a delicately coded message to Britain's fractious political class over
Brexit, urging lawmakers to seek common ground and keep their eyes on the big picture to
resolve the crisis. With the clock ticking down to March 29, the date set in law for Britain to
leave the European Union, the United Kingdom is in the deepest political crisis in half a
century as it grapples with how, or even whether, to exit the European project it joined in
1973.
Some EU countries are pushing for the European Union's no-deal legislation to be more
generous to the UK .The European Commission has proposed "bare bones" arrangements on
aviation and road haulage if there is no deal. The legislation would allow British truckers to
carry goods into the EU and British airlines to fly in and out of the EU, from 29 March to 31
December
China will take steps to spur growth amid a trade war with the United States, but there is
limited room for aggressive stimulus in an economy already laden with massive debts and a
property market prone to credit-driven spikes, policy insiders said.
Global stocks rose on Friday, as strong earnings helped to underpin investor sentiment in the face of growing signs that the global
economy is slowing and a still unresolved trade dispute between the United States and China.

Jordan has suffered from a public relations problem because of regional crises but remains a
"beacon of light" in the region, the Kingdom's prime minister Omar Al-Razzaz said on
Thursday. While the country has seen more than its fair share of turmoil over the past 10
years, it is very much open for business, with a lot to offer potential investors, he said during
a panel discussion at the World Economic Forum in Davos. “People see the mess our region
is in, and they have tended to shy away,” Al-Razzaz said. “But because we are not interested
in polarization, we have become a stable model in a turbulent region."
Jordan is keen to attract more investment to help pull itself out of an economic crisis. The
country last year attempted to enact unpopular austerity measures to lower record public
debt needed to get the economy back on track. Jordan has also suffered from hosting 1.4
million Syrian refugees since the war began in 2011.
Last year, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi and Kuwait pledged a $2.5 billion grant to Jordan after
protests over economic hardship.
Saudi Basic Industries Corp (SABIC) posted a 12.4 percent profit drop in the fourth quarter
from a year earlier, citing lower average selling prices and a decrease in the share of
results of associates.
Saudi Arabia is looking into possibly issuing euro-denominated bonds, the Saudi finance
minister said in an interview with CNBC. "The plan is to look into, potentially, another
currency, euro is a possibility," Mohammed al-Jadaan said the government would also
consider raising debt in other currencies such as the yuan.
UAE banks' reserves and allocations were stable during October and November 2018 in yet
a new testament to the resilience of the banking sector. According to the Central Bank of
the United Arab Emirates' statistics, total assets held by UAE banks jumped to AEE2.854
trillion by the end of November, a growth of AED166 billion over the same month in
2017.Reserve requirements across all UAE-based banks stood at AED121.8 billion during
the two monitored months while combined private and public allocations reached
AED123.2 billion during the same period.
Oil prices gained on Friday amid concerns over crude supply from Venezuela, but gains
were limited by rising U.S. supplies. Shares on Wall Street gained as Trump confirmed he
and lawmakers agreed to advance a three-week stop-gap spending plan to reopen the
government.
