Global News:
France and Iran have agreed to look at conditions for resuming talks to try to save Tehran's nuclear
deal with world powers, President Emmanuel Macron says. During a phone call with President
Hassan Rouhani, Mr Macron expressed his "strong concern" about the consequences of abandoning
the 2015 accord.
President Donald Trump renewed his attack on the Federal Reserve, saying the central bank
“doesn’t have a clue,” and may be sizing up his two latest picks for Fed governor as successors to
Chairman Jerome Powell. The fresh criticism is consistent with ideas that the president is laying the
groundwork to replace Powell when the chairman’s term is up in 2022, assuming Trump is re-
elected, or will attempt to do so earlier if the Fed doesn’t bend quickly enough to his will.
Trade tensions and uncertainty surrounding Brexit are raising economic risks for the euro area,
prompting France to urge Germany to loosen its purse strings to support growth. "It would be
irresponsible not to examine the need for new investments in the euro zone," French Finance
Minister Bruno Le Maire said on Saturday at an annual economic conference in Aix-en-Provence, in
southern France.
Oil prices rose on Friday after the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and
allied producers such as Russia, known as OPEC+, supported prices by extending their deal on
supply cuts last week.
Gold prices eased on Monday, following a sharp fall in the previous session, as a strong U.S. jobs
report tempered expectations of an aggressive interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve later this
month.

Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Tareq Hammouri and Palestinian Minister of National Economy Khalid Oseili on Sunday led the
Jordanian-Palestinian ministerial meeting, held at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply. The meeting addressed a number of issues to
boost economic and trade relations between the two countries, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. Hammouri and Oseili agreed
on the minutes of the Jordanian-Palestinian ministerial meeting, signed during a meeting between the countries’ prime ministers. In the
appendix, the two sides agreed on the importance of facilitating the transport of goods across the border by activating the door-to-door
transport system instead of the back-to-back system designated by the transport protocol signed by the two countries in 2000.
They also approved Jordan’s suggestion to expand the range and quantity of products included in the Paris Economic Protocol, which
regulates Palestinian trade relations.
The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) granted Jordan a $50-million concessional loan to support the establishment of new public schools
in different parts of the Kingdom under an agreement signed on Thursday. Signed by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation
and Minister of State for Economic Affairs Mohamad Al-Ississ and SFD Vice President and Managing Director Khalid Bin Sulaiman Al
Khudairi, the loan agreement is part of Saudi Arabia’s commitments to the Kingdom last year during the Mecca summit. Under the Mecca
summit pledges, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the UAE agreed to provide a $2.5-billion economic aid package to Jordan over five years. The
package seeks to support the budget, fund development projects, provide credit guarantees to enable Jordan to secure international
financing and place deposits in the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ).
The UAE Cabinet recently introduced economic substance regulations effective April 30, 2019, which bring additional annual compliance
requirements for UAE entities carrying out 'relevant activities' in the country. This follows international movement by the OECD and EU on
the need for demonstrating substance by entities in low or no tax jurisdictions, and the UAE regulations are broadly similar to the
regulations issued by nine other countries.
Around AED31 billion was generated through 10,000 plus real estate transactions across Abu Dhabi Emirate in first half of 2019, according
to the first biannual report of the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities, DPM.
Saudi Arabia's economic growth more than halved on a quarterly basis to 1.66% in the first quarter of this year, in line with expectations of
only a modest pick up as oil production cuts weigh on the world's top crude exporter. The Saudi oil sector grew 1% in the first quarter,
government data showed on Sunday. This was almost twice the rate reached in the same period a year ago but a massive slowdown from
the previous quarter, when the oil sector grew by almost 6% year-on-year.
