OECD cuts global outlook again and warns worse may be ahead as the global economy is suffering more
than expected from trade tensions and political uncertainty which are clouding prospects particularly in
Europe, according to a gloomy report from the OECD
The US economy cooled in the first two months of 2019, with growth characterized as “slight-to-
moderate” across most of the country in a Federal Reserve survey
U.S. job growth likely slowed to a five-month low in February as the weather-related boost in the prior
two months faded, workers became more scarce and tighter financial conditions began to weigh on the
labor market.
BOE's sees no rush to hike rates until the uncertainty of Brexit lifts
Oil fell as a weakening outlook for the global economy and rising crude stockpiles in the U.S. signaled that
markets will remain comfortably supplied.
The European Central Bank announced on Thursday that it will keep rates at record lows into next year,
and restart a cheap loan program for banks, as a weakening economy derails its plan to withdraw
stimulus.
Turkey’s central bank left its benchmark interest rate unchanged on Wednesday as expected and said it will tighten monetary policy further if
needed, soothing investor worries that it could loosen policy after inflation fell from a 15-year peak.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Thursday reaffirmed its continued support to the Kingdom as it
works to encourage the international community to boost financial aid packages, in order to enable
Jordan to face its “external” challenges. IMF spokesperson Gerry Rice said during a press conference in
Washington that IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde’s attendance of the “Grow Jordan” conference
in London conveyed a positive message.
Saudi Arabia has deposited $334 million in Jordan's central bank and is working with Kuwait and the
United Arab Emirates for more financial support, finance minister Mohammed al-Jadaan was quoted by
broadcaster Al Arabiya as saying. Saudi Arabia alongside Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates put
together a $2.5 billion package in June to help shore up Jordan's struggling economy.
Qatar is expected to announce this week a jumbo international bond issue worth around $10 billion. A
debt sale that big would be the largest placement by an emerging-market sovereign this year, outdoing
Saudi Arabia's $7.5 billion debt issuance in January..
Fitch Ratings has affirmed Bahrain's Long-Term Foreign-Currency Issuer Default Rating (IDR) at 'BB-'
with a Stable Outlook. Bahrain's ratings are supported by strong financial backing from richer neighbor's
in the GCC, a large and developed financial sector and high GDP per capita and human development
indicators relative even to the 'BBB' median. Weak public finances, high fiscal dependence on oil
revenue and political constraints on enacting reforms all weigh on the ratings.
Saudi Arabia is considering plans to increase an Islamic tax paid by local banks to as much as 20 %, or
double the current rate, according to people with knowledge of the matter, as the world’s biggest oil
exporter seeks to bolster alternative sources of revenue.
