Global News:
Risks to the global financial system have grown over the past six months and could
increase with a messy British exit from the European Union or an escalation of U.S.-
China trade tensions, the International Monetary Fund said on Wednesday. The IMF,
whose spring meetings with the World Bank begin in Washington this week, noted that
the global economic expansion is slowing, and an abrupt downturn could have a far-

Federal Reserve officials at their most recent meeting left room for the possibility of

The Kingdom's public debt rose to JD28.6144 billion by the end of February, constituting 94.4 per cent of the estimated Gross
Domestic Product (GDP), compared with JD28.3083 billion during the same period of last year, while the general budget deficit
after grants dropped to JD122.5 million, compared with JD312.4 million for the same period last year. In its monthly bulletin, the
ministry reported that the deficit prior to the grants reached JD160.5 million, compared with JD377.5 million for the same period
of 2018.
The Finance Ministry had forecast that in the 2019 General Budget Law that the deficit would reach 645.6 million after grants.
Jordan and Germany on Wednesday signed a partnership building declaration to bolster cooperation aimed at allowing Jordan to
benefit from German programs, expertise, technologies and technical assistance in renewable energy and energy rationing.
Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Dubai rose 41 percent in 2018 compared to one year earlier, The second-largest of the seven-
member United Arab Emirates federation received 38.5 billion dirhams ($10.5 billion) in FDI capital flows in 2018. The United
States, India, Spain, China and the United Kingdom accounted for 70 percent of that figure.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has maintained its forecast for the Saudi Arabian economic growth at 1.8% for fiscal year
2019. Saudi Arabia is expected to record a gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 2.1% in 2020, the IMF said in its latest World
Economic Outlook (WEO) report.
Saudi Arabia’s non-oil private sector continued to grow in March, while employment contracted for the first time in five years, a
monthly survey of companies showed on Sunday. The seasonally adjusted Emirates NBD Saudi Arabia Purchasing Managers’
Index rose to 56.8 in March from 56.6 in February. Private sector growth has picked up pace this year. It rose to a 13-month high
in January and continued to gain momentum — though only marginally — through February and March. The improvement in
March was led by a continued rise in new business, the highest since April 2015, the PMI showed. The new orders sub-index rose
to 65.5 in March, an almost four-year high, while the output sub-index rose to a seven-month high of 59.6, up marginally from
59.2 in January.
