China Threatens Sweeping Blacklist of Firms After Huawei Ban, China said it will
establish a list of so-called “unreliable" entities it says damage the interests of
domestic companies, a sweeping order that could potentially affect thousands of
foreign firms as tensions escalate after the U.S. blacklisted Huawei Technologies Co.
A crucial measure of U.S. inflation watched by the Federal Reserve picked up in April
for the first time this year while Americans’ spending and incomes topped forecasts,
offering some evidence that economic growth is both holding up and helping boost
prices.
US bonds are in high demand amid the intensifying trade war between the US and the
rest of the world. The benchmark 10-year treasury yield has dropped below 2.17%, the

The Trump administration escalated its battle with European allies over the fate of the

EU fires first shot in possible new clash over Italy debt as The European Commission wrote on Wednesday to the

Jordan intends to switch a deposit placed by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates at its central bank to a soft
loan to settle its debt as the government reaches agreement with the World Bank on a USD 1.4 billion facility. Jordan
will begin talks with its two Arab allies to turn the USD 666 million deposit at its central bank into a soft loan, the
state-run Petra news agency reported, citing unnamed government sources. Petra earlier reported that Jordan and
the World Bank had agreed on a USD 1.4 billion facility for 2019. Terms of the loan and interest will be determined
later. Jordan, whose public debt of USD 39.9 billion nearly equals economic output, has been hurt by the rise in global
commodity prices. The U.S. last year committed to give Jordan more than USD 6 billion in aid over the next five years,
up from USD 1 billion annually. Saudi Arabia and two allied Gulf nations agreed to deposit USD 1 billion in Jordan’s
central bank and provide hundreds of millions of dollars in loan guarantees under an aid package.
The United Arab Emirates has revised downwards its expectations for economic growth in 2019, with real gross
domestic product (GDP) now expected to grow 2% this year, the central bank said on Tuesday. In its last quarterly
report in March, the central bank said it expected GDP to grow 3.5%.Economic growth coming from the oil sector is
expected to be 2.7%, against 2.8% last year, because of lower oil production, the bank said in a statement.
Bahrain does not expect to meet some of the key goals it set out last year as part of a fiscal adjustment programme
linked to a $10 billion bailout received from its Gulf allies, a final draft of its state budget for the next two years
shows. Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates last year pledged $10 billion in financial aid for the small
Gulf oil producer as it headed for a credit crunch after piling up debt to offset the impact on revenues of lower oil
prices. The aid, however, was linked to a series of reforms aimed at eliminating Bahrain's budget deficit by 2022.
Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Thani will attend a summit in Saudi Arabia on Thursday, in the
highest-level visit since the oil-exporting kingdom and its allies imposed an embargo on their neighbor two years
ago.
The U.S. sent additional troops directed to the Middle East to Saudi Arabia and Qatar as America’s standoff with Iran
shows few signs of abating.
