Global News:
Sterling fell more than half a percent to below $1.26 on Friday after Prime Minister Theresa
May returned from a visit to Brussels, where she attempted to win assurances from the
European Union over her Brexit withdrawal agreement.
European shares fell on Thursday, snapping two days of gains, as worries about euro-zone
growth and the UK's prolonged divorce from the European Union weighed, offsetting concil-
iatory signs in the U.S.-China trade war and Rome's budget compromise.
Oil traded below $52 a barrel in New York, just striking distance from where it trended a
week ago after OPEC and its allies announced output cuts, as traders weighed incremental
U.S. shale growth against softer demand for 2019.
U.S. consumer spending gathered momentum in November as households bought furniture,
electronics and a range of other goods, which could further allay fears of a significant slow-
down in the American economy even as the outlook overseas continued to darken.

Jordan and the United States on Tuesday signed a grant agreement of 745 million U.S. dol-
lars as part of the U.S. economic assistance to Jordan, the state-run Petra news agency re-
ported. The grant will help offset budget deficit and will also be used to support several
development projects in various sectors in Jordan, according to the Ministry of Planning and
International Cooperation. Also the grant is expected to be transferred to Jordan before the
end of this year.
Retail sales across four Gulf countries are projected to increase by more than $24 billion
over the next five years, with the UAE expected to lead this trend with an estimated
growth rate of 16 per cent, according to new research from Euromonitor International.
Egypt’s blue-chip index EGX30 was the top performer among its peers in the region this
week, as the stock recovered from last week’s sharp drop, EGX30 has added 4.92 percent
since the start of the week as heavy weighted stocks boosted the index.
The total value of assets of private investment funds in Saudi Arabia increased by 8.66
percent in the third quarter of this year in comparison to the earlier quarter, data from
Saudi Capital Market Authority (CMA) has shown.
Oman will be cutting oil output by 2 percent from January for an initial period of six
months, according to a letter sent to customers of Omani oil by the country's oil and gas
ministry, which was seen by Reuters
