14. Livestock
 Total livestock population including 25.7 million cattles, 0.83
million buffaloes, 14.8 million goats, 1.9 million sheeps, 118.7 million
chickens, 34.1 million ducks.
 The density of livestock population per acre of cultivable land is
7.37
 The shortage accounts :
85.9% for milk
70.7% for eggs
88.1% for meat
 We will require an increase in production at the rate 6-9% per year
up to 2021 to meet the increasing demand of our population.

15. Poultry
Poultry farming in Bangladesh is the process of keeping
different types of birds for meat, egg, feather or for sale. In
Bangladesh, poultry birds are widely used for meat and egg.
There is an estimation of about 1,50,000 poultry firms are visual
in Bangladesh.
The firms annually produce 570 million tones of meat and 7.34
millions of eggs.

17. Forestry
Total percentage of forest is 17.49%
 Largest areas of forest more than 4600 square kilometres is
covered by Chittagong Hill Traks
 The Sundarbans, a tidal mangrove forest covering nearly 6000
square kilometres.

19. Fisheries
 More than 80% of the animal protein in Bangladeshi diet comes
from fish.
 Shrimp and dried fish are emblematic of Bangladeshi cuisine.
 The sector provides living and livelihood for more than 11%
people of the country.
 There are two categories of major fisheries resourses, these
are:
1. Inland capture (82%)
2. Marine capture (18%)
 Annual growth rate of fish production is around 6%
 Total production of fish in Bangladesh is about 34 lakhs MT per
year.
