member 
• Can answer questions, provide suggestions, 
and help through any challenges that you may 
have

• Let your students take the lead on planning and managing 
• Act as a resource 
• Engagement 
• Other students are more likely to be involved if their peers are 
running the event rather than a teacher 
• Learning about philanthropy is invaluable! 
• Classroom Skills 
• One of the most beneficial parts of a Mini-THON is how students 
can use their classroom skills outside of the classroom 
• Have them use knowledge in math, public speaking, marketing, 
writing, and management for their Mini-THON
Involve 
• Students 
• Create enough roles and positions for all students to be involved 
• Leadership Committee 
• Captains and Committee members 
• Dancers 
• Performers 
• Faculty 
• Tell other faculty members how much it means to the kids for 
teachers to be involved 
• Explain how much you have gained from the Mini-THON program 
• Community 
• Partner with local businesses for community fundraisers 
• Ask for support from parents as chaperones and donors
Transition 
• Documents 
• Keep a paper trail of important documents 
• Record major decisions made each year 
• Have the students keep track of their responsibilities 
• This will help their successors understand their role 
• Returning Students 
• Have students identify what they are interested in doing the 
next year 
• Allow students to take on more responsibility as they 
develop more interest and experience
Be Safe 
• Approval 
• You should be the one to approve and oversee 
fundraisers and activities 
• Though the students should execute these you or 
another teacher should act as adult supervision 
• Mini-THON Event 
• Require parental permission slips for students to 
participate 
• Ask for any medical issues that you need to be aware of 
• Stay hydrated!
Canning Rules 
• Four Diamonds does not endorse canning by 
our Mini-THON schools 
• We do allow for canning on school grounds 
• Athletic events, school dances, back to school 
nights 
• We ask that you tell your Four Diamonds staff 
representative when you are planning to can

returned to FD office 
Subject Line of all emails: Name of School 
Advisor is the main contact or the advisor should be 
copied on all student emails to the Four Diamonds office.

  • 3. Communicate • Four Diamonds Staff • Each school is assigned with one direct staff member • Can answer questions, provide suggestions, and help through any challenges that you may have • Leadership Team • Hold weekly meetings • E-mails

Empower • Ownership • Let your students take the lead on planning and managing • Act as a resource • Engagement • Other students are more likely to be involved if their peers are running the event rather than a teacher • Learning about philanthropy is invaluable! • Classroom Skills • One of the most beneficial parts of a Mini-THON is how students can use their classroom skills outside of the classroom • Have them use knowledge in math, public speaking, marketing, writing, and management for their Mini-THON
  • 5. Involve • Students • Create enough roles and positions for all students to be involved • Leadership Committee • Captains and Committee members • Dancers • Performers • Faculty • Tell other faculty members how much it means to the kids for teachers to be involved • Explain how much you have gained from the Mini-THON program • Community • Partner with local businesses for community fundraisers • Ask for support from parents as chaperones and donors
  • 6. Transition • Documents • Keep a paper trail of important documents • Record major decisions made each year • Have the students keep track of their responsibilities • This will help their successors understand their role • Returning Students • Have students identify what they are interested in doing the next year • Allow students to take on more responsibility as they develop more interest and experience
  • 7. Be Safe • Approval • You should be the one to approve and oversee fundraisers and activities • Though the students should execute these you or another teacher should act as adult supervision • Mini-THON Event • Require parental permission slips for students to participate • Ask for any medical issues that you need to be aware of • Stay hydrated!
  • 8. Canning Rules • Four Diamonds does not endorse canning by our Mini-THON schools • We do allow for canning on school grounds • Athletic events, school dances, back to school nights • We ask that you tell your Four Diamonds staff representative when you are planning to can
  • 9. Help Us Help You! 2014-2015 Partnership Agreement completed and returned to FD office Subject Line of all emails: Name of School Advisor is the main contact or the advisor should be copied on all student emails to the Four Diamonds office.

  1. Be Safe is another very important best practice. As the advisor, you will be responsible for approving and overseeing all Mini-THON activities. We want your students and event participants to have a safe and enjoyable experience at your Mini-THON and at all the pre Mini-THON activities. Please note that Four Diamonds does not endorse canning by any Mini-THON school. The only approved areas for canning would be on your school property and at school athletic events and performances. If your Mini-THON event requires students to stay on their feet for extended periods of time, be sure that you have parental permission slips signed and note any student with a physical reason they should not be on their feet without periodic breaks. Include medical permission slips in your participant registration packets that include information on dietary restrictions and food allergies. Please keep your students well hydrated prior to and during your Mini-THON event. Schedule regular water breaks for the participants to ensure they stay hydrated. And comply with the rules of your school concerning security for your event. Maintaining order with the students will require adult chaperones. So plan accordingly by recruiting faculty and parent volunteers for your Mini-THON. If your school is hosting an overnight event, be mindful of the curfews for students and young drivers. You should establish a sign in and sign out procedure for all students and deviations from your plan should require parent or guardian permission. Signed parental/guardian permission slips are a must for your participant registration packets. And review the rules of the event with the students in the first few minutes of your Mini-THON. That way they can’t say “they didn’t know”.
  2. The Four Diamonds Staff is eager to help you and your school implement a successful Mini-THON event. Before you get started please complete the Four Diamonds Mini-THON Partnership agreement and return to the FD office. Your partnership agreement outlines the services and materials you will receive from our office. Access to our marketing materials and online fundraising tool will be provided once agreements have been received. When emailing or calling the Four Diamonds staff please identify your school name. And if students will be contacting the Four Diamonds staff please remind them to copy you on all their communications so you are aware
