2. • The title of my film is called “You and I.” the reason why my film is called that is because
it can be interpreted in many ways. There are 2 protagonist's in the film so it could be
about their relationship. How ever, it could be referred to the main protagonist and main
antagonists as they are fighting for something that they want.
• The genre of my film is a hybrid of Adventure, Drama and Thriller.
• My film is about 2 girls who have to run away from there home after a terrible event
causes certain people to chase after them. The film will explore themes of self-
examination, letting go, corruption and power.
• For an idea, I want to tell the story in 2 perspectives with the first half being in the
protagonists' perspective and the 2nd half being in the antagonists' perspective. For this
film, I wanted to give off a 2 sides to one story effect.
• The tagline for my film is going to be “No turning back.” the reason why the tagine is “no
turning back” is because it has 2 meanings. One meaning for this tagline is that you can't
turn back after what the protagonist did, and the second meaning is that you can turn
back on what haunts you.
3. Audience profile
• The demographic for my film is mainly for the younger audience
between 15-18-year-old.
• The psychographic for my film will be for strugglers. Because I think
that the audience can be able to relate to the protagonist possible
and antagonists as well. The film will also explore teenage struggles
on both sides of the story, and this could make the audience feel
sympathetic toward both of them.
4. Inspirations
• My main inspiration for my films story mainly comes from a video
game called “The last of us Part 2.” the last of us part 2s about a girl
who is seeking after her farther figure is murdered right in front of
her. During the game, players thought they have reached the climax
when confronts the main antagonist, but the games goes back to the
start and this time, you play as the main antagonist to see her side if
the story. This story structure inspired me to do the same thing, but
with the protagonist running away from what they did and the
antagonist seeking revenge on what they did.
5. The lord of the rings is a fantasy, adventure film and this film
poster inspires me to create one of my posters to have to have a
long shot of the setting the character are in. I want my first
poser to look similar to all 3 I want to create to show the
audience where the film will mainly take place. According to the
reception theory, I think this poster is negotiated reading
because I think the producers in tended for this poster to show
that in this world these character love in is extremely big and as
they travel through this massive world, the journey forth is
unknown and I think the the audience will understand this
message through this poster. However, many audience goers
may not click on with the message and they just might thing that
this poster might be a screen capture on scene in the film.
6. Another poster I will take inspiration from is the Beowulf
poster. I can one of my poster to have a dominant image
of the main antagonist look over to the left just like in this
poster. It gives of a sense of ambiguity as it will make the
audience what to know what he is looking at. According to
the reception theory, this poster is preferred reading
because this poster help shows that this man on the
poster is looking as something important and is not
directly looking at the camera and the audience. The
target audience for this poster is mainly for people 15+
because of the dark lighting and tone of the poster gives a
scene of danger that could be to scary for a younger
demographic.
7. This is one if my posters that I did. I decided to have the model for the dominant image to look down at something. I wanted the
model to look down at the floor to show the audience that she is more concerned about what she is looking at and this will make
then think “what is she looking at and why?” my previous poster will help when creating my new posters because in my new
poster, I'm going to have the model be staring at something else and not the camera to make the audience think “what has got
these characters attention” and this will help pull in an audience to see my film. however, I have received some feedback from my
classmates and every single one of them said they did either agree or understand the messages it was so according to reception
theory, my poster is oppositional reading. One thing I will reflect on is that I need to make sure that I try and make my message's
in my film poster clearer.
8. In the film industry, there are a lot of competitors. They compete to try and attract the biggest audience possible to get
better box office results but for my film, I going to drive away from the competition because I want my film to be more for
the people who are going to take the film seriously because my film is going to have many meaning and message's that I
want to be taken seriously.
I think main main competitors are going to be Disney. The reason why I think Disney is going to be Disney is because they
are currently dominating the film industry as they own various studio that are currently trending such as Pixar, marvel, and
star wars. These studio usually release their film regularly so the audience will be attracted to their film instead of mine. I
think the best way to try and find out when. I should release my film is when Disney is not showing one of their films in
cinema's so that the audience will be more inclined to see my film.
Disney's film poster usually have an identical layout. These identical layouts are used to show the audience who the main
character are in the film and to help show who may be staring in it. This helps pull in an audience because these layout are
used constantly when each Disney film is teased for distributed and the audience are used to to this repetition in layouts.
9. Surveys
• In previous assignments, I ask what my classmates favorite movie
genres were and what makes then attracted to a certain poster or
billboard. Most of my classmates said they like horror movies.
Personally, my film is not a horror movie, but I feel like if I add horror
elements to my film and film poster, I could help attract a bigger
audience and demographic.
10. Ideas
• Poster 1
• For my first poster, I'm going to have a long shot of the 2 main protagonist walking through the woods. I want to use a long shot for this poster
because I wanted the audience to feel a scene of adventure as they walk through the woods. However, I also want to show a sense of isolation as they
long shot will show that they are in a massive world and it will feel like that they are all alone in this big world with nobody to help them. The long
shot can also be interpreted as a POV shot as it can also show that someone is watching the 2 protagonists and it will make the audience think who is
this person that is watching them. Another idea for my first poster could be that I could have the same background photo, duplicate it and turn it
upside down and then change the colour scheme of my duplicated photo darker. Instead of having photographs of the actors, I will have black
silhouettes to help show ambiguity. I want to have a female silhouette on the top and I want a male silhouette on the bottom. Most poster have
billing blocks to show who was involved in the film. but for my first poster, I am not going to have billing blocks because I want my first poster to be a
teaser poster.
• Poster 2
• For my second poster, I'm going to have a medium shot of the main antagonist looking directly to the left with an angry expression on his face. I
wanted the antagonist to have an angry expression on his face to emphasis his menace and hatred of these protagonists he is trying to kill. Another
idea for my second poster could be just a POV shot of a forest path. The reason why I think this idea is effective because it shows ambiguity of whoi
that person might be.
• Poster 3
• For my third poster, I'm going to have an extreme close-up shot of both the protagonist and antagonist with the left side being half of the
protagonist's face and the right-side face half of the antagonist's face. For the protagonist I'm going have a worried expre3ttion on her face with a
single tear rolling down her face and I'm going to have the antagonist have an angry expression with a blood splatter on his face. Another idea for my
third poster is to have both protagonist on it with one on the left side and one the right side with a black and white colour scheme to ethises how
bleak the world is around them.
12. My chosen photos
The reason why I had chosen this photo for
my fist poster is because I want to have a
low angle long shot of the forest where the
characters are walking through.
The reason why I decided
to use this photo for my
third photo is because I'm
going to use have one
model on the left side and
the other model on the
right side.
The reason why I
choose this photo
for my second photo
is because it looks
the most like a POV
shot and that’s what
I want the audience
to think that in my
second poster.
The reason why I have chosen
this photo for my third poster
is because I wanted to show
the audience that these
character walking through
nothing but trees to give off a
sense of hopelessness.
13. Font ideas
I've picked some fonts out to help try to figure out which font style will best suit the poster. When I start to create my
posters. I will experiment with these font styles to help me figure which one stands out and to help suit the style and
tone of the posters.
15. Legal and Ethical issues
• When finding my secondary content. I need to be carful when using
them. I need to make sure that I either ask for permeation when
using someone else's work or give them credit because if I don’t, I
could have a chance of getting a copy-right strike and possibly legal
trouble.
16. This is my flat plans for my 3 poster. These flat plans will help when
creating my final draft because it will help stay organized and help
me figure out what put each convection in my posters.
18. I began to create my first poster by importing one of
my photos and then copy and pasted it and then
rotated it upside down. The next thing I did was that I
started to manipulate the colour of the upside-down
by using the blending mode and I experimented with
various different colours to help find my preferred
colour scheme. The next thing I'm going to do next
time is that I'm going to start implementing my
shadow figures onto my poster.
19. The next thing I did is that I stared to manipulate my
shadow figures by using the magnetic lasso tool to get rid
of the white outlines. The next thing I'm going to do next
time is that I’m going to start placing my shadow figures
onto my poster.
20. The next thing I did was is that I started to
place my shadow figures onto my poster with
the female shower on the top and the male
shadow on the bottom.
I also started to mess around with the brush
tool to help cover up the line between the
top photo and bottom photo. I tried to mix
the green and the red to gather to help
bend it into the poster.
The next thing I'm going to do next time is that I'm going to start to
import my chosen font and I'm going to start putting in my title card
and the actor's names.
21. I imported my chosen font and I started to to type
in the name of my film. after I typed in my title
card, I started to play around with it by moving it
around to try and fins out where it will stand out.
I decided to put it in the middle so that the
audience see it first when they first look at my
poster. The nest thing that I'm going to do is that
I'm going to add the finishing touches by adding
the actor's names.
22. I added the actor's names to my poster. However, I did run into an issue, I originally wanted to have my actor's names on the
top of my poster, but they were very hard to see due the lighting. I resolved this issue by moving the names to the bottom of
the poster instead of the top.
23. This is my final draft for my first poster. I relieved feedback from
one of my classmates and they said that they like my poster and
that they understand the message that it is trying to give off.
However, they said that my poster could be better if I had my
tagline on it.
24. I have reflected on my feedback and I decided to go back and add my tagine to my final draft.
25. After making some adjustments to my final drafts, I think that
my first poster went well. According to reception theory, I think
that my first poster is preferred reading because fir this poster,
there is a bit of binary opposition with the top poster with the
female silhouette resembles good with the bright colours and
the bottom of the poster with the male silhouette resembles
bad with the dark colours and my feedback form my classmates
agree with the messages I was trying to pull off.
26. The first thing that I did for my
second poster is that I embedded my
chosen photograph and then the
next thing that I'm going to do next
time is that I'm going to start to add
my billing blocks to my poster.
27. Today, I imported my billing block font
onto photoshop, and I began to write
down my billing blocks. I ran into some
issues when creating my billing blocks as
the colour scheme was very hard to see. I
resolved this issue my experimenting with
some colour schemes to make my billing
blocks as visible as possible. The next
thing im going to do is that im going to
add my title card and the actors name to
my poster.
28. Today, I added my title card to my poster and
after reflecting on my feedback of my first
poster I created, I also decided to implement
my tagline to my poster as well. Next time,
I'm going to add my release date to my
poster and then evaluate my final draft and
get some peoples opinion on it as well.
29. Today, I added the finishing touches to my second poster my adding
a release date to my film.
The reason why I decided to not add the main antagonist to this
poster is because I was the antagonist to be left to the human mind.
The poster is a POV shot of what the antagonist sees as he is looking
to 2 main protagonist. I received feedback from one of my
classmates and they said that all they really saw in this poster is just
a long shot of a forest path. Because of this feedback, according to
reception theory, I think my second poster was oppositional reading
because I wanted to long shot of the forest path to also be a POV
shot of what the main antagonist sees, however, all the audience will
see is just a long shot of of a forest path. With this feedback, next
time when I create a poster, I will try and create one that will make
the audience agree with what the poster is trying to say and what
messages it is trying to give off.
30. The first thing I did when creating my third and final
poster is that I embedded my chosen photo and
placed it into photoshop. The next thing I did was is
that I selected image adjustment and selected the
black and white filter. The next thing that I'm going to
do is that I'm going to that I'm going to start to
implement my dominant image and start to crop out
what I need.
31. The nest thing I did was is that I implemented my
dominant image and then rotated it to the right
was up.
After that, I then used the magnetic lasso tool to
crop out the background and separate the 2
models.
After that, I hid my background layer and created a green
background to help show any leftover background colour I need
to crop out. The next thing that I'm going to do next time is that
I'm going to so but each model on each side of my poster and
then hopefully get started on my billing blocks.
32. The next thing I did was is that I began to to place my two
dominant images on each side of the poster and the next
thing that I am going to do is that I am going to start to
write my billing blocks for my poster.
The next thing I did was is that I starred to write my billing
blacks onto my poster. The next thing that I'm going to do is
I'm going to continue creating my billing blocks.
33. Today, I carried on creating my billing blocks for my poster, however, I
ran into an issue where each font size was the same and for billing
blocks, I need to the jobs roles to be smaller than the creditors name. I
resolved this issue by making the jobs roles a separate layer to the
creditors name. the next thing that I'm going to do is I'm going to add
my title card and the actor's name.
34. The next thing I did was is that I moved my billing blocks around to help me figure out where to best position it. The next
thing I did was is that I wrote my title of the film and them wrote down the actors names.
35. This is my final draft for my third and final poster for my film. I received some feedback for my poster by some of my
classmates and the repletion was mixed. The reason why it was mixed is because I wanted to show what I grim and
bland worlds their characters are living in with and black and white colour scheme. Some people said that they did agree
with the message that I was trying to say, and some people did not so according to the reception theory, my third poster
is negotiated reading. I will learn form this feedback for next as I will know what to do if I want to get my message out to
everyone.
