Trips and Events
Sunderland University trip
In this trip, all the media students went on a trip to the media department at Sunderland
University. We looked at many of the different sectors that they teach at the university. For
example, we looked at filmproduction and how each job role is structured and how each
role is vital to the postproduction. We also looked at the colleges own radio station called
Spark FM. We were shown where they broadcast Spark FM and how they edit and control
their songs and interview’s. Overall, I learned a lot of how each sector is structured behind
the scenes and it has inspired me to explore more into how content is produced in the
creative industry.
Tyneside cinema trip
In this event that I was taking part in. my whole class went to an event at Tyneside cinema
to create a filmtrailer for a genre we were assigned to as we were split into groups. My
group had to create a trailer for a Si-Fi film. during this event, we all had to do different job
roles when filming out trailer. The job roles consisted of camera, sound, director and main
and supporting actors. My job roles were the main actor. Because of this, it was my job to
make sure that the character I was playing was believable and that the dialogue correlated
to the themes and genre of the filmtrailer. At the event, we were introduced to 3 of the
staff who worked at Tyneside cinema. When we introduced ourselves to them, they talked
about themselves and how the loved their passion of filming. I learned a lot from the staff
on how to use their equipment they use, and they inspired me to look a filmmaker in many
other ways.
Work experience at Sunderland University
For my work placement at my first year at college, I had to do a work experience and mine
was at Sunderland University. My work experience was similar to my trip to the university
but this time, I got the chance to take part and help out in what they needed to do on a daily
basis. One main and thing that I did at my work experience is that I got to take part in a live
broadcast in Spark Fm. This participation gave me an ever bigger understanding on that a
radio broadcaster has to do to keep their audience interested.
Becoming a young entrepreneur event

In my second year at college, we took part in a virtual event where we learned about what
people do to promote their business and product to help make a profit and become
successful.
Inspirations
2. Unit 2: Learning aim D
Guillermo del Toro
Guillermo del Toro is an oscar winning filmmaker who is one of the main inspirations on why
I like filmmaking. He is famous for films such as Pans Labyrinth, Pacific Rim and The Shape
of Water. The reason why he inspires me is because of his unique filming style. Del Toro
used creatures and monsters that represent different themes and messages when creating
his stories. This inspired me to envision my own stories using different thing that personify
and represent different themes.
David Fincher
David Fincher is an American filmmaker who is known for works such as Fight Club, Seven
and The Social Network. The reason why he inspires me is because of how he mixes
powerful and gripping storytelling and has bleak and dark colour pallets in his films.
