The league relies entirely on volunteers - the coaches volunteer their time to teach skills and run practices and games, while other volunteers take on roles like tournament coordinators, team managers, referees, and first aid attendants. Without these volunteers, the league would not be possible. The league aims to improve players' basketball abilities while ensuring they have fun and play fair.

Assessment and Planning in Educational technology.pptxKavitha Krishnan
In an education system, it is understood that assessment is only for the students, but on the other hand, the Assessment of teachers is also an important aspect of the education system that ensures teachers are providing high-quality instruction to students. The assessment process can be used to provide feedback and support for professional development, to inform decisions about teacher retention or promotion, or to evaluate teacher effectiveness for accountability purposes.

3. Sands Secondary School
10840 82 Ave, Delta, BC
V4C 2B3
Sector : Public
Sands Secondary is a public school that I attended in North Delta.
Public schools provide services that are available “for both
genders, all age groups, all ethnic groups, and special interest
groups” (Lunn, 2021, p. 3). Public schools educate students for
free and provide different opportunities for all kinds of people
which makes them a “public good” and easily accessible (Lunn,
2021, p. 3).
4. • Sands Secondary is an example of recreation for a variety of reasons. Firstly, they offer many clubs and
services outside of class such as the chess, boardgame, video game, and book clubs and student council,
choir and many other things. Not only do these clubs and groups provide opportunities for children but they
also “play a significant role in the creation of cohesive and quality communities” (Lunn, 2021, p. 5).
Allowing students to be involved with diverse groups of people can create bonds outside of school which
help strengthen the community. In relation, this improves individuals “physical and social well-being” as
they are interacting and spending time with peers of the same interests as them.
• On top of this, Sands Secondary is also an example of physical education. PE is a required course from
grades 8-10, then it becomes an optional course in grades 11 and 12 like most high schools. Physical
education promotes the physical well-being of students as well as promoting healthy lifestyles while
students strive for academic success.
• Sands Secondary has many sports teams including soccer, volleyball, basketball, badminton, and baseball.
Volleyball was a sport that I coached personally while I was in grade 12 which gave me the opportunity to
guide athletes who were younger and promote physical literacy. It also allowed me to feel what it’s like to
work with athletes and develop/improve their athletic performance. Each sports team at Sands Secondary
has coaches which help their athletes improve in their specific sport but also try to provide advice and
guidance outside of their sports as well.
SPSC 2210 Connection
5. Sungod Recreation Center
7815 112 St, Delta, BC V4C 4V9
Sector : Public
This is an example of the public sector since the municipal government
delivers and develops the services provided at Sungod. Even though
Sungod is a “recreation centre” it still has services such as “fitness,
sport, age-related programs, events, arts, leadership, etc.” all of which
are considered a “public good” (Lunn, 2021, p. 3).
SPSC 2210 Connection :
This is an example of recreation because “the municipal level of
government is the level in which the recreation needs of the general
public are directly addressed through the offering of recreation
services” (Lunn, 2021, p. 4). Sungod has a large area inside where they
have multiple pools which provide swimming lessons to the general
public. These pools are also used for play and relaxation for many
younger and older individuals. Sungod also provides “opportunities for
recreation to disadvantaged clients”, for example they have a ramp
with railings which allows people with wheelchairs and difficulty
walking to get into the pool smoothly without any troubles.
Furthermore, Sungod promotes and “reinforces values and ideals of
establishing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle” (Lunn, 2021, p. 3)
6. North Delta Recreation Center
11415 84 Ave, Delta, BC V4C 2L9
Sector : Public
This is an example of the public sector since the municipal government also
delivers and develops the services provided at North Delta Recreation
Center. However, this is a bit different than Sungod because it is newer and
provides some additional services. North Delta Recreation Center also
provides “opportunities that are deemed valuable by society” (Lunn, 2021,
p. 3).
SPSC 2210 Connection :
This is another recreation example because the recreation services provided
at North Delta Recreation Center correspond with “individual and collective
interests and serve the needs of the total community” (Lunn, 2021, p. 5).
North Delta Recreation Center has a large gymnasium which is compatible
with many different sports which allows for community development. They
have open gyms where multiple sports are running at once which allows
many different groups of people to be involved with their services at once.
North Delta Recreation Center also holds many events such as training for
Elections Canada which I was a part of, friends and family night, and many
more. Another reason as to why North Delta Recreation Center is an
example of recreation since the municipal government “encourages the
development of recreation programs and facilities” which North Delta
Recreation Center provides (Lunn, 2021, p. 5).
8. North Delta Sunfish Swim Club
7815 112 St, Delta, BC V4C 4V9
Sector : Commercial
This is an example of the commercial sector since the Swim Club provides “high level
training, [and] specialized service” for stronger swimmers looking to improve and
compete in swimming events (Lunn, 2021, p. 6).
SPSC 2210 Connection : Recreation and Coaching
The North Delta Swim Club is an example of recreation since it provides specialized
training with swimmers who want to improve their strokes and compete in swimming
events. This allows swimmers to interact with coaches and peers which enhances
their physical and social well-being. On top of specialized instructions for swimmers
they also provide water polo, and synchronized swimming which provides more
recreational services to swimmers that are looking for activity outside of competing
in swim meets.
The Sunfish Swim Club is also a coaching example because it provides high quality
professional coaching and technique instruction to all ages of swim club participants.
All their coaches are a part of the BC Swim Coaches Association and have taught
over 5,000 North Delta Children to swim. They have a strong group of coaches who
are dedicated to guide swimmers to be the best that they can be. To improve their
physical fitness, technique and performance.
9. Cave Athletics
8889 120 St, Delta, BC V4C 6R6
Sector : Commercial
This is an example of the commercial sector because it requires a fee or a membership to take part in
their facility which includes recreation activities such as the weight room, boxing, and personal
training which are “provided for a cost [and] profit oriented” (Lunn, 2021, p. 6).
SPSC 2210 Connection :
As stated previously Cave Athletics is an indoor commercial recreation service. Many of the people
who work out at Cave Athletics have left positive reviews on their websites which almost all say that
their staff are very friendly and always there to help with personal training or regular workout tips for
anyone. They have great equipment which is sanitized thoroughly every 30 minutes which is great
especially during the pandemic and in 2020 they have been recognized as the best gym in Delta. This
displays their dedication to their customers and creating an environment which enhances individuals
physical and social well-being.
Cave Athletics is also a coaching example since they provide boxing lessons as well as personal
training. They provide one on one or group boxing training by their certified boxing trainer who
provides expert advice on technique and skill for people of all skill levels. On the other hand, Cave
Athletics “strive towards a holistic approach in fitness” (Cave Athletics, 2021). They go on to state that
there are several factors that go into determining the fitness of people today. They include mental
health, physical aptitude, a healthy diet, accessibility to a fitness coach/facility, etc. as some of these
factors. This goes to show that Cave Athletics is trying to coach people outside of physical literacy
itself and teach participants about the mental aspects of fitness and guide people in the right direction
of an overall healthy lifestyle which includes the mind and the body.
10. Delta Golf Centre
11840 Ladner Trunk Rd, Delta, BC V4K 3N3
Sector : Commercial
The Delta Golf Centre is an example of the commercial sector since its services are offered to the public
and are profit oriented (Lunn, 2021, p. 6). It is a place where avid golfers come to play but also families
and friends who are looking to come for more recreational use. The services are also often used by young
adults who are out and having a good time with a group of friends.
SPSC 2210 Connection :
This is a recreation example because “recreation is a fundamental human need” for participants of all
ages who can use the services they provide. The Delta Golf Centre offers 36 stalls, and 260 yards of long
full ranges in a great open layout. The Golf Centre offers great services for “both genders, all age groups,
all ethnic groups, and special interest groups” (Lunn, 2021, p. 5).
This is a physical education example since the Golf Centre provides services which increase a person’s
“physical and social well-being” (Lunn, 2021, p. 5). It allows people of all ages to play golf as a
recreational and social event or for more regular golfers to come and practice.
The Delta Golf Centre is also a coaching example as they offer golf lessons. Sukhbir Jawandha also
known as “The Golf Singh” on the Delta Golf Centre’s website provides expert advice to golfers of all
skill levels from beginners all the way up to pros. He is a certified instructor from one of Canada’s top
instructors' program and produces results for his clients but also makes the experience engaging and fun.
12. Burns bog Conservation Society
4-7953 120 St, Delta, BC V4C 6P6
“Protecting the “Lungs Of The Lower Mainland” Since 1988” (Burns
Bog Conservation Society, n.d.).
Sector : Non-Profit
The Burns Bog Conservation Society falls in the sector of non-profit as it relies on
its members to survive (Lunn, 2021). The Burns Bog Conservation Society relies on
its team of volunteers and core staff to help save Burns Bog from a multitude of
developmental proposals by companies.
SPSC 2210 Connection :
This is an example of recreation as the Burns Bog Conservation Society’s goals
correspond with “individual and collective interests” of the people who want to help
keep it from being modernized (Lunn, 2021, p. 5). They have a core group of staff
who hold educational and stewardship events in the Delta Nature Reserve where the
public can join in and aid the hardworking staff. The public comes together with the
same ideals and values of keeping Burns Bog alive.
13. Deltaassist
9097 120 St, Delta, BC V4C 6R7
Sector : Non-Profit
This is an example of the non-profit sector since the Deltassist Family and
Community Services Society is a non-profit organization that provides many
services such as counselling and community-building in many forms to the
people of Delta.
SPSC 2210 Connection :
Deltaassist offers services such as counselling and community-building in
forms of workshops, events, senior support, outreach programs, and information
services. Through the years Deltaassist has “established an organizational
culture” (Lunn, 2021, p. 10). They assist people of all ages to help ensure that
their goal of community well-being is reached. Deltaassist’s mission statement
is “To respond to the community needs of Delta in a manner which enhances
the social, psychological and physical well-being of individuals, families and
the community through the provision of professional and volunteer services in
Delta and the surrounding communities” (Deltaassist, n.d.).
14. Delta Farmland & Wildlife Trust
4882 Delta St #205, Delta, BC V4K 2T8
Sector : Non-Profit
Delta Farmland & Wildlife Trust is a non-profit organization that believes in
the preservation of over 3,500 acres of farmland and wildlife through their
stewardship programs which get the public involved as well. Local farmers
came together with the similar interest of conserving agriculture in Delta,
British Columbia.
SPSC 2210 Connection :
The Delta Farmland & Wildlife Trust (DF&WT) provides stewardship
programs which bring farmers and conservationists together to protect
wildlife. The focus clientele of the DF&WT is like-minded individuals, in
this case farmers and conservationists who want to preserve the land that is
so dear to them. Today, DF&WT is organized by a volunteer Board Of
Directors who hold stewardship programs which provide funds to farmers
and educate the public about the role of farmers and conduct research to
assess the quality of wildlife. The DF&WT has “established an
organizational culture” as well and looks forward to conserving farmland
and wildlife for many years to come (Lunn, 2021, p. 10).
