However, OERs also lack guarantees of peer review, may become outdated, and occasionally have technical access issues with dead links.

2. What are Open Source Education
Resources?
 Open educational resources (OERs) are pictures, videos, writings,
courses, and other resources that allow others to use (and in some
cases modify) these works without the additional expense of paying
a publisher for the content.
 Some of these works are in the “Public Domain” or are no longer
under the obligation of copyright.
 Others of these works fall under a Creative Commons license that
allows certain kinds of use of these materials.

3. Advantages
 These resources are free.
 They allow the larger learning community to join in a cooperative
effort to expand information.
 These resources allow individuals who would otherwise be unable to
afford the learning experience to have access to academic
resources.

4. Disadvantages
 There is no guarantee that the materials have passed a peer review.
 The materials may be out of date.
 At times there are dead links or other technical difficulties for
accessing the resources.
