Abstract
The Advanced Diesel Electric Power
Train(ADEPT) combines low-cost technologies
with a high degree of synergy to reduce current
class-leading C-segment CO2 emissions by a
further 15-20%.
it also aims to apply low voltage concept of
“Intelligent Electrification” in a diesel engine.
Introduction
The ADEPT concept features intelligent
electrification to deliver a very low CO2 mild-
hybrid diesel C-segment vehicle.

 48 v mild-hybridization applied to 1.5L diesel
comprising of
 12.5 kW 48V belt starter generator
 48V low cost advanced lead-acid battery
 48V electric auxillaries
 48V electric turbine

• Regenerative braking
• Torque assist
• Efficient electrical generation

48V electric coolant pump.
48V electric oil pump
• Efficiency improvements from optimized flow
and pressure control
• Use of regenerative braking energy for further
fuel savings.

• Located downstream of standard turbocharger.
• Capture exhaust waste heat for reapplication as
torque on crankshaft.
• After treatment thermal management.

• Uses the same switch reluctance technology for
speed start-stop systems and electric
supercharging.
• It helps in returning the recovered heat from
power train to crankshaft.

Prediction
• Intelligent electrification will offer extremely
cost effective reduction of CO2emissions and
improved fuel economy.
• Less than 70 gm/km CO2 emission will be
reduced .
Result
• The final testing results of its ADEPT 48 V diesel
hybrid power train concept, confirming a 10-12%
reduction in fuel consumption – equivalent to
CO2 emissions below 80 gm/km.

  • 2. Abstract The Advanced Diesel Electric Power Train(ADEPT) combines low-cost technologies with a high degree of synergy to reduce current class-leading C-segment CO2 emissions by a further 15-20%. it also aims to apply low voltage concept of “Intelligent Electrification” in a diesel engine.
  • 3. Introduction The ADEPT concept features intelligent electrification to deliver a very low CO2 mild- hybrid diesel C-segment vehicle.
  • 4. Features  48 v mild-hybridization applied to 1.5L diesel comprising of  12.5 kW 48V belt starter generator  48V low cost advanced lead-acid battery  48V electric auxillaries  48V electric turbine
  • 6. 48V Belt Starter Generator • Improved start - stop operation. • Regenerative braking • Torque assist • Efficient electrical generation
  • 7. 48V Electric Ancillaries 48V electric coolant pump. 48V electric oil pump • Efficiency improvements from optimized flow and pressure control • Use of regenerative braking energy for further fuel savings.
  • 8. 48V Electric Turbine • Located downstream of standard turbocharger. • Capture exhaust waste heat for reapplication as torque on crankshaft. • After treatment thermal management. • TIGERS
  • 9. TIGERS • Turbine Integrated exhaust Gas Energy Recovery System • Uses the same switch reluctance technology for speed start-stop systems and electric supercharging. • It helps in returning the recovered heat from power train to crankshaft.
  • 11. Prediction • Intelligent electrification will offer extremely cost effective reduction of CO2emissions and improved fuel economy. • Less than 70 gm/km CO2 emission will be reduced .
  • 12. Result • The final testing results of its ADEPT 48 V diesel hybrid power train concept, confirming a 10-12% reduction in fuel consumption – equivalent to CO2 emissions below 80 gm/km.
