Advanced Active Filter AAF with Reduced DC Link Voltage

In recent years voltage and current harmonics are become serious problem in transmission and distribution system. To eliminate these voltage and current harmonics and to achieve clean grids, AAF are been used. The existing AAF technology requires a higher dc link voltage to achieve the THD requirement therefore this paper presents an Advanced Active Filter AAF for IGBT and LCL network in order to maintain voltage balance among dc link. This method is well capable of balancing charging and discharging of dc link voltage without increasing circuit complexity. This modulation technique is very effective in terms of voltage balancing as well as for maintaining voltage output THD at low level. ABSTRACT
In recent years voltage and current harmonics are become serious problem in
transmission and distribution system. To eliminate these voltage and current

therefore; this paper presents an Advanced Active Filter (AAF) forIGBTandLCL
network in order to maintain voltage balance among dc-link.Thismethodiswell
capable of balancing charging and discharging of dc-link voltage without
increasing circuit complexity. This modulation technique is very effective in
terms of voltage balancing as well as for maintaining voltage output THD at low
level. The proposed system is implemented in Simulink platform of MATLAB

I. INTRODUCTION
Now in many systems connected to the grid and PWM
rectifiers, LCLfilters are used moreand more. LCLfiltersgive
advantage in costs and dynamic since smaller inductors are
needed to achieve required performance in damping the
switching harmonics comparing with L or LC filters.
Especially in large power systems whose frequency is low,
theadvantages of LCL filter aremoresignificant.BecauseLCL
filterneed smaller inductancevaluecomparingtoLtypefilter
at the same performance in harmonic suppression, it is
gradually used in high-power and low frequency current
source controlled grid-connected converters[1-4]. However
design work of LCL filter parameternotonlyrelatedtoswitch
frequency ripple attenuation, but also impacted on
performance of grid-connected currentcontroller.Firstofall,
this paper introduced a harmonic model of LCL filter in grid-
connected operation, secondly researched the variable
relationship among LCL filter’s parameter and resonance
frequency and high-frequencyripple attenuation. In orderto
achieve optimal effect under the precondition of saving
inductance magnetic core of LCL filter, a reasonable design
method was brought out Based on above analysis.
Furthermore the method could guarantee the resonance
frequency of LCL filter was not too small lest impacted
current controller resign. Finally this design method was
verified by the experimental results.
II. THE MODEL OF GRID-CONNECTED INVERTER
A. Main Circuit Topology
The main circuit topology can be seen as fig.1, where R1 and
R2 are the resistors associated with inverter side and grid
side inductors respectively. L1 , C2 and L2 compose the LCL
filter

This paper deals with controlling a grid-connected dual-active bridge multilevel inverter for renewable energy integration. The concept of direct power control is integrated with model predictive control algorithm, which is termed as predictive direct power control, to control the real and reactive power injected into the power grid. The proposed multilevel inverter allows more options of feasible voltage vectors for switching vector selections in order to generate multilevel outputs, and thereby obtaining high power quality in the power grid. By using the predictive direct power control, simulation results show that the proposed multilevel inverter produces lower power ripple and manage to achieve currents with low total harmonic distortion which are well within the IEEE standard. High Impedance Fault Detection in Power Distribution Networks with Use of Cur...
In very distribution system, physical contact between conductors of a phase and substances around them like trees, walls of the buildings and surfaces below them, always in possible. These conditions known as High Impedance Faults (HIFs), can lead to death due to electricity congestion, burning or ignition via arc or heat of the substances. On the other hand, the whole energy produced by the power company doesn’t achieve by the arbitrary loads and a part of them is lost that this loss is harmful for the power supply companies. Current relaying in distribution systems is only capable of detecting short circuit conditions leads to flowing significant amount of generated electric power to the earth without achieving by the load. It is very difficult to detect HIFs by protection equipments. Because occurrence of them just leads to slight increase in the amount of load current. So it can be considered as a usual increase in the value of load current incorrectly. However various solutions for detecting high impedance faults have been proposed. Most of these approaches are complicated or difficult implementation. In this paper, a novel approach for detecting high impedance faults based on harmonic analysis of current in distribution systems has been presented. Various simulations in PSCAD envirounment have validated that proposed approach in simple in implementation and have great accuracy.

Design of Earthing in Underground Substation using ETAP with Constraints
This paper describes the earthing design of a distribution substation 33kV 415V, 50Hz system. in this type of substation equipment’s are 33kV HV panel, transformer, battery, battery charger and Low voltage panels. The earth mat is below substation which is almost 15 18 Meter deep from ground level. The main considerable factors for earth mat design are soil resistivity which is higher due to basalt rock and system fault current. Fault current level of the system considered as 70kA derived from calculations. Earthing is essential for proper functioning of substation equipment’s and in the absence of proper designing affects in many ways like electric shock to personnel’s and malfunctions and damage to the equipment’s. The basic purpose of earthing is to ensure personnel safety, safe and reliable operation of equipment’s, prevent stray current, protection against interferences and keeps steps and touch potential within safe limit. This paper also discussed constraint in design due to below ground level. Result of manual calculation compared with design simulated through ETAP software version 19. The data used in design considered from a substation in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Electric power quality is a critical issue for electric utilities and their customers and identification of the power quality disturbances is an important task in power system monitoring and protection. Offline processing of power quality disturbances provides an economic alternative for electric distribution companies, not capable of buying enough number of power quality analyzers for monitoring the disturbances online. Due to the wide frequency range of the disturbances which may happen in a power system, a high sampling rate is necessary for digital processing of the disturbances. Therefore, a large volume of data must be processed for this purpose for each node of an electric distribution network and such a processing has not yet been practical. However, thanks to the rapid developments of digital processors and computer networks, processing big databases is not so hard today. Apache Hadoop is an open-source software framework that allows for the distributed processing of large datasets using simple programming models. In this paper, application of Hadoop distributed computing software for offline processing of power quality disturbances is proposed and it is shown that this application makes such a processing possible and leads to a very cheaper system with widespread usage, compared to the power quality analyzers.Recommended

Grid Integration of Renewables: Challenges and Solutions
Exponential growth in the energy demand on account of rising population and economic growth,
increasing apprehensions of energy security coupled with climate change and global warming concerns are some
of the major drivers for pushing the renewable energy (RE) to the top of the energy portfolio. Among various
renewable energy resources, wind and solar PV systems are experiencing rapid growth since 2010. By the end of
2016, the world total capacity of wind power generation was 487 GW and that of solar PV was 303 GW,
aggregating to a penetration level of 4.0% and 1.5% respectively. Global renewable energy penetration till Dec.
2016, excluding conventional hydro share (of 16.6%) was only around 8.0%. However, many countries have set
target of 30% RE based electricity generation by 2030. India has an ambitious target of achieving 175 GW of RE
power by 2022, with 100 GW from solar, 60 GW from wind, 10 GW from biomass and 5 GW from small hydro.
Power generation from renewables often takes place through distributed generation (DG). These units, mostly
located in remote locations, are not centrally planned or dispatched, and are usually connected to distribution grids
at LV or MV levels. In few cases, large capacity RE generation are also connected to transmission networks. As a
result, the power generation structure is moving from the large, centralized plants to a mixed generation pool
consisting of traditional large plants and many smaller DG units. Most of the RE generators have electrical
characteristics that are different from the synchronous machines. Since a large group of DG technologies use
power electronics converters for grid connectivity, they introduce many technical issues related to the operation,
control and protection of the power system, impacting generators, transmission system and consumer devices.
This paper presents some of the technical issues and challenges that need to be addressed for the effective
grid integration of RE based power generators so that eventually, our reliance on polluting and expensive fossilbased
hydro-carbon driven power generation can be reduced substantially.

Non linear loads are increasingly more abundant in commercial, residential and industrial sector and their percentage of the total load are growing steadily. The increasing uses of non linear loads are becoming more harmonic problems at utilities and customers sides. The harmonic problems cause damage of system equipment and low power quality. The most appropriate solution to mitigate this issue is passive filter. Passive filters are typically composed by inductors, capacitors and resistors which are used for mitigating harmonic distortions, power factor correction and improving power quality. In this paper, simulation models are implemented for mitigating harmonic distortions by applying passive filter at No 3 .Steel Mill Ywama, Yangon in distribution system. Passive filters are installing at point of common coupling PCC of 11kV feeder in distribution system to reduce the harmonic distortion within IEEE 519 1992 standards. THD is used as the harmonic index to study the effect of harmonic distortions. In this paper, the performance of the designed filter in this network and THD are obtained from simulation using MATLAB. Wind Energy Based Adaptive Pi Controlled Statcom for Voltage Regulation
Distributed Generation Resources are increasingly used in distribution systems due to their great advantages. The presence of DG, however, can cause various problems such as miss-coordination, false tripping, blinding and reduction of reach of protective devices. Using superconducting fault current limiters (SFCLs) is one of the best methods to minimize these problems comparing to the other conventional methods. The active SFCL can as well suppress the short-circuit current induced by a three-phase grounded fault effectively, and the power system’s safety and reliability can be improved and it is composed of an air-core superconducting transformer and a PWM converter. The magnetic field in the air-core can be controlled by adjusting the converters output current, and then the active SFCLs equivalent impedance can be regulated for current limitation and possible overvoltage suppression. During the study process, in view of the changes in the locations of the DG units connected to the system, the DG units injection capacities and the fault positions, the active SFCLs current-limiting and over voltages suppressing characteristics are presented by using Matlab/Simulink software.

Harmonic Mitigation in Distribution System by using Passive Filters
The advent of power electronics and computerized equipment in recent decades has brought enhanced efficiency and improved system but at the same time also created harmonics and waveform distortion to the power system network. Due to the growing use of nonlinear load equipment and new technologies in buildings, harmonic currents and voltages generated in distribution systems pose a new problem for electrical engineers. This is a serious problem when power quality is a prime concern. Harmonics are the main types of power quality problem that are very common to the power system containing electric arc furnace EAF . Electric arc furnace EAFs are widely used in steelmaking and in melting of nonferrous metals. This paper presents the development of a new design method of capacitive power transfer (CPT) which is based on hybrid concept for Biomedical Implants. This method is able to improve various issues found in the widely used CPT system that is bipolar CPT method. Based on the ability of this purposed, the simulation of the CPT system has been designed to prove an amount of power transferred through a layer of tissue. The design used to validate the suggested model which to powering implanted device, and it was performed with 3cm square plates, which have a layer of beef with the 5mm thickness in between 2 coupling plate. Power signal was generated by Class E zero voltage switching. The Class E zero voltage switching has been designed to generating alternate current with the 1MHz frequency appropriate to the hybrid CPT system specification.

This paper presents a control method for distributed static synchronous compensator (D-STATCOM) to alleviate variation of both positive- and negative-sequence voltages. The D-STATCOM simultaneously operates as fundamental positive-sequence admittance and fundamental negative-sequence conductance to restore the positive sequence voltage to the nominal value as well as reduce the negative-sequence voltage to an allowable level. Both admittance and conductance are dynamically tuned to improve voltage regulation performances in response to load changes and power variation of renewable sources. A proportional“resonant current regulator with selectively harmonic compensation is realized to control the fundamental current of the D-STATCOM as well as reduce the harmonic current, which could be an advantage in practical applications due to high voltage distortion in low-voltage micro grids. Voltage-regulation performances are discussed for different D-STATCOM locations as well as different D-STATCOM currents. Computer simulations and laboratory tests validate effectiveness. CH. This paper suggests the theory of distance protection criteria in power distribution systems for power plant generation. Multi-developed countries have energy power plants that placed in remote areas which are far from the grid line. Hence, they should be coupled to the low power transportation systems necessarily. While higher-rating relays are adopted to preserve feeders at power substations, fuses are merely obtainable outside on feeder channel. The safe system process, space protection is dispatched to save feeders. In this review, feeders with distance relays are equipped, together with over-current protection relays and fuses. Energy power plant having distance protection system is designed the implemented system was a 6-MW unit of compressed power energy reproduction. The sample feeder was shortened to be equal four-bus experiment feeder for transmitting resolution. The fault currents have chances adopted to form protecting regions of distance relays. Protection of the power line through the designed power plants for distance relaying can decrease problem in relay location because of the impedance-based location of the distance relay.

Nonetheless, the switching of power devices in the inverter configuration creates harmonics that affect the end application behavior and might shorten its lifetime. Furthermore, the resonance frequencies produced by the LCL network contribute to the system instability. This paper proposes a step-by-step guide to designing an LCL filter by considering several key aspects such as the resonance frequency and maximum current ripple. A single-phase grid-connected flyback microinverter with an LCL filter was designed then constructed in the MATLAB/Simulink environment. Several different parameter variations and damping solutions were used to analyze the performance of the circuit. Harmonic enhancement in microgrid with applications on sensitive loads
Power quality issues are an important and growing problem in microgrid. There are two reasons; the more active consumer is participating in the power sector, the use of renewable energy which having a great impact on voltage variation. This paper discusses power quality disturbance and especially harmonic distortion issues in microgrid, and suggests a solution to maintain the operation of the distribution system within power quality standard. To protect sensitive loads from harmonics produced by the grid and by renewable energy sources, passive harmonic filter has been proposed in this paper. The electrical system of a nuclear research reactor as sensitive loads is designed by using Electrical Transient Analyzer Program (ETAP) software. The results show these technical issues are presented with their influence on electrical voltage and harmonic specter.

The negative impacts or side effects of a damper circuit insertion in an LCL passive filter utilized to filter DC/AC inverters output voltage is presented in this paper. For comparative study, this paper discusses two damping configurations, namely series and parallel damping, as well as the LCL filter without damping element. Four criteria are used to explore the impacts of the damper circuits, i.e. their total harmonic distortions (THDs), the output voltage amplitude, the output power and the power efficiency. Theoretically and emphirically shown by previous studies, the damper can indeed reduce the peak resonance frequency of the filter in its frequency response curve. However, in any circumstance, it can potentially reduce the inverters power and efficiency, voltage output amplitude, and cannot improve its THD reduction. The analysis results have shown that the side effects depends also on the load conditions, which are different for each damping circuit configuration.More Related Content

Grid Integration of Renewables: Challenges and Solutions
Exponential growth in the energy demand on account of rising population and economic growth,
increasing apprehensions of energy security coupled with climate change and global warming concerns are some
of the major drivers for pushing the renewable energy (RE) to the top of the energy portfolio. Among various
renewable energy resources, wind and solar PV systems are experiencing rapid growth since 2010. By the end of
2016, the world total capacity of wind power generation was 487 GW and that of solar PV was 303 GW,
aggregating to a penetration level of 4.0% and 1.5% respectively. Global renewable energy penetration till Dec.
2016, excluding conventional hydro share (of 16.6%) was only around 8.0%. However, many countries have set
target of 30% RE based electricity generation by 2030. India has an ambitious target of achieving 175 GW of RE
power by 2022, with 100 GW from solar, 60 GW from wind, 10 GW from biomass and 5 GW from small hydro.
Power generation from renewables often takes place through distributed generation (DG). These units, mostly
located in remote locations, are not centrally planned or dispatched, and are usually connected to distribution grids
at LV or MV levels. In few cases, large capacity RE generation are also connected to transmission networks. As a
result, the power generation structure is moving from the large, centralized plants to a mixed generation pool
consisting of traditional large plants and many smaller DG units. Most of the RE generators have electrical
characteristics that are different from the synchronous machines. Since a large group of DG technologies use
power electronics converters for grid connectivity, they introduce many technical issues related to the operation,
control and protection of the power system, impacting generators, transmission system and consumer devices.
This paper presents some of the technical issues and challenges that need to be addressed for the effective
grid integration of RE based power generators so that eventually, our reliance on polluting and expensive fossilbased
hydro-carbon driven power generation can be reduced substantially.

Non linear loads are increasingly more abundant in commercial, residential and industrial sector and their percentage of the total load are growing steadily. The increasing uses of non linear loads are becoming more harmonic problems at utilities and customers sides. The harmonic problems cause damage of system equipment and low power quality. The most appropriate solution to mitigate this issue is passive filter. Passive filters are typically composed by inductors, capacitors and resistors which are used for mitigating harmonic distortions, power factor correction and improving power quality. In this paper, simulation models are implemented for mitigating harmonic distortions by applying passive filter at No 3 .Steel Mill Ywama, Yangon in distribution system. Passive filters are installing at point of common coupling PCC of 11kV feeder in distribution system to reduce the harmonic distortion within IEEE 519 1992 standards. THD is used as the harmonic index to study the effect of harmonic distortions. In this paper, the performance of the designed filter in this network and THD are obtained from simulation using MATLAB. Wind Energy Based Adaptive Pi Controlled Statcom for Voltage Regulation
Distributed Generation Resources are increasingly used in distribution systems due to their great advantages. The presence of DG, however, can cause various problems such as miss-coordination, false tripping, blinding and reduction of reach of protective devices. Using superconducting fault current limiters (SFCLs) is one of the best methods to minimize these problems comparing to the other conventional methods. The active SFCL can as well suppress the short-circuit current induced by a three-phase grounded fault effectively, and the power system’s safety and reliability can be improved and it is composed of an air-core superconducting transformer and a PWM converter. The magnetic field in the air-core can be controlled by adjusting the converters output current, and then the active SFCLs equivalent impedance can be regulated for current limitation and possible overvoltage suppression. During the study process, in view of the changes in the locations of the DG units connected to the system, the DG units injection capacities and the fault positions, the active SFCLs current-limiting and over voltages suppressing characteristics are presented by using Matlab/Simulink software.

The advent of power electronics and computerized equipment in recent decades has brought enhanced efficiency and improved system but at the same time also created harmonics and waveform distortion to the power system network. Due to the growing use of nonlinear load equipment and new technologies in buildings, harmonic currents and voltages generated in distribution systems pose a new problem for electrical engineers. This is a serious problem when power quality is a prime concern. Harmonics are the main types of power quality problem that are very common to the power system containing electric arc furnace EAF . Electric arc furnace EAFs are widely used in steelmaking and in melting of nonferrous metals. This paper presents the development of a new design method of capacitive power transfer (CPT) which is based on hybrid concept for Biomedical Implants. This method is able to improve various issues found in the widely used CPT system that is bipolar CPT method. Based on the ability of this purposed, the simulation of the CPT system has been designed to prove an amount of power transferred through a layer of tissue. The design used to validate the suggested model which to powering implanted device, and it was performed with 3cm square plates, which have a layer of beef with the 5mm thickness in between 2 coupling plate. Power signal was generated by Class E zero voltage switching. The Class E zero voltage switching has been designed to generating alternate current with the 1MHz frequency appropriate to the hybrid CPT system specification.

This paper presents a control method for distributed static synchronous compensator (D-STATCOM) to alleviate variation of both positive- and negative-sequence voltages. The third order LLCL filter is gaining more attractive in grid connected PV inverter in terms of material cost saving than LCL filter. Several active and passive damping techniques prevail in mitigating the resonance problem for maintaining the grid power quality standards. In this paper an improved passive damping is examined with reduction of power loss for the LLCL filter. Particularly, it reduces the switching ripple much better than LCL filter, with a decrease in volume of the inductance. The filter design is also developed for the operation of stiff grid. Mathematical operations and transfer function are derived with frequency response for the accuracy of the filter design. In addition, comparative analysis of passive and improved passive damping control is proposed. residential and office buildings, manufacturing facilities, schools etc This paper presents a novel
control strategy for achieving maximum benefits from the grid-interfacing inverters when installed in
3-phase 4-wire distribution systems. The inverter can thus be utilized as: 1) power converter to inject
power to the grid, and 2) shunt APF to compensate current unbalance, load current harmonics and
load neutral current. All of these functions may be accomplished either individually or

This work presents investigation of passive filter performance on three-phase inverter with 180° conduction mode. The simulation model of the inverter is developed by using MATLAB/Simulink. The power circuit used Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) as switching device. The inverter is controlled by using bipolar Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) technique. The IGBT was set to 25 kHz for switching frequency (fs). Three types of passive filters which are LC, RC and PI filters are used to investigate the ability to remove the unwanted signal that occurred on the inverter. This paper presents an h-infinity robust loop shaping control and LCL filter to mitigate the effects of harmonic currents in the photovoltaic system integrated with the grid. To eliminate the negative effects of the LCL filter, this work applied notch filter active damping. Existing methods for the elimination of harmonic currents were reviewed. Proportional integral control, fuzzy logic control, h-infinity control, and robust loop shaping control are presented. The grid current was analyzed in the system with all controllers applied to control the voltage source inverter of the system to eliminate harmonics in the grid current caused by the inverter and nonlinear loads for two cases, one being constant loading of the linear and nonlinear load and another is the switching of the nonlinear load during the simulation. The results obtained from the proposed method for the two tests conducted were compared with those from other methods to prove the robustness of the proposed technique. Generally, the non-conventional energy sources are being extensively used in case of power electronic converter based distribution systems. This paper mainly focuses on the wind energy system integrating with grid connected system and also improvement of power quality features. The wind energy power plant is modelled based on associated equations. For improving this power quality problems, this paper proposes the concepts of shunt converter controllers. This paper also proposes the concepts of fuzzy based Thyristor Switched Capacitor and Static Compensator and STATCOM. And also the results are compared for this cases. Thus with such a control, a balanced load currents are obtained even in the presence of non-linear load. The experimental setup is done in Matlab and verified the simulation results.

Nowadays, usage of non linear loads in power system is increasing. For example, UPS, inverters, converters, etc. These loads make the supply current non sinusoidal and distorted form, which is called harmonics. At this time Active power filters have been developed to improve power quality. In this Paper, a Shunt Active Power Filter SAPF control scheme has proposed to eliminate the current harmonics and improve the power quality. The shunt active power filter controlled by using the different controllers such as PI, PID, Fuzzy logic, Pq Theory and hysteresis controller . In our proposed system, PI controller is used to reduce the harmonics current using the shunt active power filter. And both current THD results are compared, with and without use of filter and then shown how filters can reduce THD and is most suitable to control the shunt active power filter in term of total harmonic reduction THD . Background and Objective Telehealth has become a well known tool for the delivery of health care in Saudi Arabia, and the perspective and knowledge of healthcare providers are influential in the implementation, adoption and advancement of the method. This systematic review was conducted to examine the current literature base regarding telehealth and the related healthcare professional perspective and knowledge in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Materials and Methods This systematic review was conducted by searching 7 databases including, MEDLINE, CINHAL, Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, PsycINFO, and ProQuest Central. Studies on healthcare practitioners telehealth knowledge and perspectives published in English in Saudi Arabia from 2000 to 2023 were included. Boland directed this comprehensive review. The researchers examined each connected study using the AXIS tool, which evaluates cross sectional systematic reviews. Narrative synthesis was used to summarise and convey the data. Results Out of 1840 search results, 10 studies were included. Positive outlook and limited knowledge among providers were seen across trials. Healthcare professionals like telehealth for its ability to improve quality, access, and delivery, save time and money, and be successful. Age, gender, occupation, and work experience also affect health workers knowledge. In Saudi Arabia, healthcare professionals face inadequate expert assistance, patient privacy, internet connection concerns, lack of training courses, lack of telehealth understanding, and high costs while performing telemedicine. Conclusions Healthcare practitioners telehealth perceptions and knowledge were examined in this systematic study. Its collection of concerned experts different personal attitudes and expertise would help enhance telehealths implementation in Saudi Arabia, develop its healthcare delivery alternative, and eliminate frequent problems. Online Voices, Offline Impact Ambedkars Ideals and Socio Political Inclusion ...
This research investigates the nexus between online discussions on Dr. B.R. Ambedkars ideals and their impact on social inclusion among college students in Gurugram, Haryana. Surveying 240 students from 12 government colleges, findings indicate that 65 actively engage in online discussions, with 80 demonstrating moderate to high awareness of Ambedkars ideals. Statistically significant correlations reveal that higher online engagement correlates with increased awareness p 0.05 and perceived social inclusion. Variations across colleges and a notable effect of college type on perceived social inclusion highlight the influence of contextual factors. Furthermore, the intersectional analysis underscores nuanced differences based on gender, caste, and socio economic status. This study investigated the impact of educational background and professional training on human rights awareness among secondary school teachers in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra, India. The Role of Mentoring and Its Influence on the Effectiveness of the Teaching ...
This paper reports on a study which was conducted to investigate the role of mentoring and its influence on the effectiveness of the teaching of Physics in secondary schools in the South West Region of Cameroon. The study adopted the convergent parallel mixed methods design, focusing on respondents in secondary schools in the South West Region of Cameroon. Both quantitative and qualitative data were collected, analysed separately, and the results were compared to see if the findings confirm or disconfirm each other. The quantitative analysis found that majority of the respondents 72 of Physics teachers affirmed that they had more experienced colleagues as mentors to help build their confidence, improve their teaching, and help them improve their effectiveness and efficiency in guiding learners’ achievements. Only 28 of the respondents disagreed with these statements. With majority respondents 72 agreeing with the statements, it implies that in most secondary schools, experienced Physics teachers act as mentors to build teachers’ confidence in teaching and improving students’ learning. The interview qualitative data analysis summarized how secondary school Principals use meetings with mentors and mentees to promote mentorship in the school milieu. This has helped strengthen teachers’ classroom practices in secondary schools in the South West Region of Cameroon. Design Simulation and Hardware Construction of an Arduino Microcontroller Bas...
This study primarily focuses on the design of a high side buck converter using an Arduino microcontroller. The converter is specifically intended for use in DC DC applications, particularly in standalone solar PV systems where the PV output voltage exceeds the load or battery voltage. To evaluate the performance of the converter, simulation experiments are conducted using Proteus Software. These simulations provide insights into the input and output voltages, currents, powers, and efficiency under different state of charge SoC conditions of a 12V,70Ah rechargeable lead acid battery. Additionally, the hardware design of the converter is implemented, and practical data is collected through operation, monitoring, and recording. By comparing the simulation results with the practical results, the efficiency and performance of the designed converter are assessed. The findings indicate that while the buck converter is suitable for practical use in standalone PV systems, its efficiency is compromised due to a lower output current. Energy becomes sustainable if it meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Some of the definitions of sustainable energy include the considerations of environmental aspects such as greenhouse gas emissions, social, and economic aspects such as energy poverty. Generally far more sustainable than fossil fuel are renewable energy sources such as wind, hydroelectric power, solar, and geothermal energy sources. Worthy of note is that some renewable energy projects, like the clearing of forests to produce biofuels, can cause severe environmental damage. The sustainability of nuclear power which is a low carbon source is highly debated because of concerns about radioactive waste, nuclear proliferation, and accidents. The switching from coal to natural gas has environmental benefits, including a lower climate impact, but could lead to delay in switching to more sustainable options. “Carbon capture and storage” can be built into power plants to remove the carbon dioxide CO2 emissions, but this technology is expensive and has rarely been implemented. Leading non renewable energy sources around the world is fossil fuels, coal, petroleum, and natural gas. Nuclear energy is usually considered another non renewable energy source, although nuclear energy itself is a renewable energy source, but the material used in nuclear power plants is not. This paper aims to outline the executive regulations, survey standards, and specifications required for the implementation of the Sudan Survey Act, and for regulating and organizing all surveying work activities in Sudan. The act has been discussed for more than 5 years. The Land Survey Act was initiated by the Sudan Survey Authority and all official legislations were headed by the Sudan Ministry of Justice till it was issued in 2022. The paper presents conceptual guidelines to be used for the Survey Act implementation and to regulate the survey work practice, standardizing the field surveys, processing, quality control, procedures, and the processes related to survey work carried out by the stakeholders and relevant authorities in Sudan. The conceptual guidelines are meant to improve the quality and harmonization of geospatial data and to aid decision making processes as well as geospatial information systems. The established comprehensive executive regulations will govern and regulate the implementation of the Sudan Survey Geomatics Act in all surveying and mapping practices undertaken by the Sudan Survey Authority SSA and state local survey departments for public or private sector organizations. The targeted standards and specifications include the reference frame, projection, coordinate systems, and the guidelines and specifications that must be followed in the field of survey work, processes, and mapping products. In the last few decades, there has been a growing awareness of the importance of geomatics activities and measurements on the Earths surface in space and time, together with observing and mapping the changes. In such cases, data must be captured promptly, standardized, and obtained with more accuracy and specified in much detail. Towards the Implementation of the Sudan Interpolated Geoid Model Khartoum Sta...
The discussions between ellipsoid and geoid have invoked many researchers during the recent decades, especially during the GNSS technology era, which had witnessed a great deal of development but still geoid undulation requires more investigations. To figure out a solution for Sudans local geoid, this research has tried to intake the possibility of determining the geoid model by following two approaches, gravimetric and geometrical geoid model determination, by making use of GNSS leveling benchmarks at Khartoum state. The Benchmarks are well distributed in the study area, in which, the horizontal coordinates and the height above the ellipsoid have been observed by GNSS while orthometric heights were carried out using precise leveling. The Global Geopotential Model GGM represented in EGM2008 has been exploited to figure out the geoid undulation at the benchmarks in the study area. This is followed by a fitting process, that has been done to suit the geoid undulation data which has been computed using GNSS leveling data and geoid undulation inspired by the EGM2008. Two geoid surfaces were created after the fitting process to ensure that they are identical and both of them could be counted for getting the same geoid undulation with an acceptable accuracy. In this respect, statistical operation played an important role in ensuring the consistency and integrity of the model by applying cross validation techniques splitting the data into training and testing datasets for building the geoid model and testing its eligibility. The geometrical solution for geoid undulation computation has been utilized by applying straightforward equations that facilitate the calculation of the geoid undulation directly through applying statistical techniques for the GNSS leveling data of the study area to get the common equation parameters values that could be utilized to calculate geoid undulation of any position in the study area within the claimed accuracy. Both systems were checked and proved eligible to be used within the study area with acceptable accuracy which may contribute to solving the geoid undulation problem in the Khartoum area, and be further generalized to determine the geoid model over the entire country, and this could be considered in the future, for regional and continental geoid model. Sudan is witnessing an acceleration in the processes of development and transformation in the performance of government institutions to raise the productivity and investment efficiency of the government sector. The development plans and investment opportunities have focused on achieving national goals in various sectors. This paper aims to illuminate the path to the future and provide geospatial data and information to develop the investment climate and environment for all sized businesses, and to bridge the development gap between the Sudan states. The Sudan Survey Authority SSA is the main advisor to the Sudan Government in conducting surveying, mappings, designing, and developing systems related to geospatial data and information. The COVID 19 pandemic has highlighted the crucial need of preventive measures, with widespread use of face masks being a key method for slowing the viruss spread. This research investigates face mask identification using deep learning as a technological solution to be reducing the risk of coronavirus transmission. The proposed method uses state of the art convolutional neural networks CNNs and transfer learning to automatically recognize persons who are not wearing masks in a variety of circumstances. Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. To eliminate these voltage and current harmonics and to achieve clean grids, AAF are been used. The existing AAF technology requires a higher dc link voltage to achieve the THD requirement therefore; this paper presents an Advanced Active Filter (AAF) forIGBTandLCL network in order to maintain voltage balance among dc-link.Thismethodiswell capable of balancing charging and discharging of dc-link voltage without increasing circuit complexity. This modulation technique is very effective in terms of voltage balancing as well as for maintaining voltage output THD at low level. The proposed system is implemented in Simulink platform of MATLAB software and performance shows its effectiveness over conventional IGBT used for inverter Keywords: Advanced Active Filter, IGBT, LCL network I. INTRODUCTION Now in many systems connected to the grid and PWM rectifiers, LCLfilters are used moreand more. LCLfiltersgive advantage in costs and dynamic since smaller inductors are needed to achieve required performance in damping the switching harmonics comparing with L or LC filters. Especially in large power systems whose frequency is low, theadvantages of LCL filter aremoresignificant.BecauseLCL filterneed smaller inductancevaluecomparingtoLtypefilter at the same performance in harmonic suppression, it is gradually used in high-power and low frequency current source controlled grid-connected converters[1-4]. However design work of LCL filter parameternotonlyrelatedtoswitch frequency ripple attenuation, but also impacted on performance of grid-connected currentcontroller.Firstofall, this paper introduced a harmonic model of LCL filter in grid- connected operation, secondly researched the variable relationship among LCL filter’s parameter and resonance frequency and high-frequencyripple attenuation. In orderto achieve optimal effect under the precondition of saving inductance magnetic core of LCL filter, a reasonable design method was brought out Based on above analysis. Furthermore the method could guarantee the resonance frequency of LCL filter was not too small lest impacted current controller resign. Finally this design method was verified by the experimental results. II. THE MODEL OF GRID-CONNECTED INVERTER A. Main Circuit Topology The main circuit topology can be seen as fig.1, where R1 and R2 are the resistors associated with inverter side and grid side inductors respectively. THE CHARACTERISTIC ANALYSIS OF LCLFILTER IV. EXPERIMENTAL RESULT To verify the proposed design method, a three-phase experimental platform based on DSP TMS320LF2407 is established. Based on 20% ripple wave RMS strict condition, the inductance value of L1 can be calculated. Then in the paper L1 = 5.5mH, L2 = 1.0mH, and C2=20 µf. CONCLUSIONS In this paper, a parameter-design method is proposed for a LCL filter used in a three-phase grid-connected inverter system. The practicality of this method is practicability and validity. Experimental results proved the correctness of the adopted parameter-design theory analysis and feasibility of theproposeddesignmethod.Theadoptionoffilter-capacitor- current inner loop can damp the resonance of LCL filter as analyzed.
