• To help Where parents or other known people may not be
able to give accurate information, this can be effectively
carried out by schools.

3. Adoloscence
The period of life when a child develops into an adult

4. • It is a period of rapid physical, psychological and
social maturation.
• Adolescence has been described as the transition
period in life when an individual is no longer a
child, but not yet an adult.
• The World Health Organization (WHO) defines an
adolescent as any person between ages 10 and
19.

5. Stages of adolesence
• Early adolescence : 9-15 years
• Late adolescence: 16-19 years

• First change seen is development of
breast tissue.

During puberty the secretion of sebaceous gland and
sweat gland increases which may lead to acne and
pimples on the face.

15. • CHANGE IN VOICE
In girls, voice becomes sharp.
In boys , voice becomes deeps.

19. PSYCHOLOGICAL CHANGES
• Intellectual Development takes place ,they may
spends more time thinking.

20. SOCIAL CHANGES
• Intense friendship.
• Strong peer alliances.
• Contact with opposite sex in groups.
• Decisions /Values less influenced by peers.

21. Problems encountered
• Wants independence
• Rely on peer group for decision making.
• Experimentation - drugs, friends, jobs, risk-taking
behavior.
• Cant talk to parents and teachers openly.
• Unable to control behavioral issues.
• Day dreaming
• Magnify own problems: "no one understands"
