Analysis Of Lolita s Tehran, And Fidelity
When entering this unit of postmodernism, my only thoughts were of a reluctant nature. I
pessimistically expected only disagreement and frustration from reading the works of Life of Pi,
Reading Lolita in Tehran, and Fidelity. However, my initial expectations were completely and
thankfully wrecked. Though the philosophies of both Martel and Nafisi contradict my own, there
are endless gems of insight to be plundered from their writings. These postmodern works emphasize
where we as humans find our identity and how religionplays into that identity. Contrary to my
presumptions, I learned so much from reading these novels woven with postmodernists thought and
can say with confidence that I am a better and more educated person for having read them.
Postmodernism is not a wholly cohesive ideology that can be covered in a single blanket statement.
It is more of an umbrella that contains many miscellaneous modern conceptions of things. (Uhhhh
citation, idrk) There is an over arching theme, however, that rejects objective truth. This belief
would argue that truth can be constructed by each person individually. For Pi, this meant his house
could be a temple for gods from Hinduism, Christianity, and Islam (Martel 45 46). It did not matter
that those religions were not congruous, he just wanted to love God (Martel 69). His truth was that
all religions are true (Martel 69). Nafisi similarly creates her own truth in her living room which
became [her] sanctuary, [her] self contained

Rhetorical Analysis Of Why English Is Not The National...
Introduction Many people have questioned why the United States does not have a national
language, and more specifically, why English is not the national language. Among these people is
Dennis Baron, who publishes his thoughts on this topic very often. One of his essays, considered a
proposal, is titled Don t Make English Official Ban It Instead and discusses a new way of
approaching English as the national language: banning English completely in America. Baron
examines other opinions and their flaws and then establishes contrasting points that are subtly
sarcastic. He is immensely effective in addressing his points and argument through the use of
various techniques. The author conveys his ideas not only through his words, but through... Show

Allusion can be described as a literary device that indirectly refers to a past literary work,
historical circumstance, or other cultural or geographic reference point...[to] help readers make
connections between concepts in a body of work...authors assume that their readers have enough
knowledge of a specific allusion to make the intended connection (Lundin, 1). His first reference is
to A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift; Baron uses this to allow his readers to understand that his
proposal will be satirical. Baron alludes to the Garden of Eden twice throughout his proposal; both
times are to make the parallel between temptations in the Bible and the temptations of Americans.
Historical figures that Baron mentioned throughout his work were Roger Sherman, Ross Perot, and
William F. Buckley Jr. whom are all political figures that allow Baron s audience of legislatures to
further understand the context of his proposal. Events in history added by the author include
Hastings, World War I and II, the American Revolution, the Louisiana Purchase, and the
Prohibition. Each of the events he references add context of time period and conflicts that may or
already have arisen from the problems that Baron is addressing. In order for his audience to
understand the circumstances concerning his proposal, Baron used allusion

My Solitary Purpose Of Applying For Graduate Program
Statement of Purpose
My solitary purpose of applying for graduate program at your university is to pursue a carrier of
professional researcher and educationalist in the field of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.
After completing my PhD and post doctorate programs, I want to see myself as a fully matured
professional researcher in an organization, or a faculty member in a renowned university. And
graduate program is the first step in attaining of my long cherished dream. In addition to that, my
undergraduate study at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), in the
department of Chemical Engineering has exposed me to the real nature of chemical and biochemical
engineering. Environment of my undergraduate university is very strong and here the research
and theoretical knowledge go forward parallel. As a result, I have discovered that I have a strong
interest in research work and a very good aptitude for problem solving and problem detecting. In
sum, because of these reasons I have decided to pursue my higher studies in Chemical and
Biomolecular Engineering.
There always will be a winning side and a losing side, despite that we have to move forward to
see the future; No one has been successful without overcoming hindrance on the pathway of
triumph. The above philosophy has played a significant role in shaping of my objectives and
framing of my future plans. My childhood was completely different compared to the other kids. My

Mental Health Treatment Of Mental Illnesses
Approximately 20% of all children show at least minimal impairment from a mental health
illness (Odar, C. o., Canter, K., Roberts, M. m. 2013). Around 31% of girls and 42% of boys
between the ages of 9 and 16 years old meet the criteria of at least one mental health illness
(Costello, E. J., Mustillo, S., Erkanli, A., Keeler, G., Angold, A. 2003). Some of these illnesses
may include schizophrenia, bipolar disease, depression, etc. These illnesses may require
continuous care and treatment for many years and can be very costly. There are many problems
when it comes to the treatment of mental illnesses. Some of these problems are access, cost and
funding, and the delivery of care.
The first problem with mental health treatment is access. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The cost of outpatient treatment is expensive. Most psychiatrists offices and hospitals require
high copayments and deductibles if the treatment is covered under the patient s insurance plan.
But according to a report done by the Center for Disease Control, people with serious mental
illnesses are less likely to have health insurance, so they would be required to pay even more
money out of pocket if they decide to receive treatment (Cohn, J. 2015). The funding required for
treatment is also a big issue. In the early 20th century, insurance companies did not cover mental
health care at all. Eventually, they started adding mental health coverage, and by the 1980s,
managed care was introduced and was lowering costs (Cohn, J. 2015). But patients were concerned
that these lower prices were compromising the quality of care.
The quality and delivery of care is another mental health problem in the healthcare system. Due to
the Mental Health Parity Act of 2008, insurers are required to provide the same coverage for both
mental health treatment and medical/surgical treatment (Burns, J 2014). This could cause insurers
to limit the length of stay for all patients in hospitals or residential care and could cause more
readmissions to occur. It could also cause all patients to receive insufficient treatment.
Implications
Having little access to treatment or care can affect both patients and providers. It makes it harder
for patients to receive

Consumers. Journal of the European Economic Association, 10(4), 831 859. doi:10.1111/j.1542
4774.2012.01069.x This article is about the threat of merger and the influence of a monopolistic
media. The author suggests that a single media unit would eliminate the politicization of its news
out of purely capitalistic notions which is in the exact opposite to the article Media Bias and
Reputation.
Simon Anderson is a Professor of Economics at the University of Virginia. John McLaren works
for the Department of Economics at the University of Virginia as well. They use primarily logic to
push their point and are a very down to earth professor/faculty combo. Baron, D. P. (2006).

professor and author of over 100 articles and several books. This dude is credible. The article is
over the causes of bias and where the root of media bias stems. This will be an excellent source for

Old Roger Chillingworth
OLD Roger Chillingworth, throughout life, had been calm in temperament, kindly, though not of
warm affections, but ever, and in all his relations with the world, a pure and upright man. He had
begun an investigation, as he imagined, with the severe and equal integrity of a judge, desirous
only of truth, even as if the question involved no more than the air drawn lines and figures of a
geometrical problem, instead of humanpassions, and wrongs inflicted on himself. But, as he
proceeded, a terrible fascination, a kind of fierce, though still calm, necessity seized the old man
within its gripe, and never set him free again, until he had done all its bidding. He now dug into
the poor clergyman s heart, like a miner searching for gold; or, rather,... Show more content on

Many, many a poor soul hath given its confidence to me, not only on the death bed, but while
strong in life, and fair in reputation. And ever, after such an outpouring, O, what a relief have I
witnessed in those sinful brethren! even as in one who at last draws free air, after long stifling
with his own polluted breath. How can it be otherwise? Why should a wretched man, guilty, we
will say, of murder, prefer to keep the dead corpse buried in his own heart, rather than fling it
forth at once, and let the universe take care of it! 13 Yet some men bury their secrets thus,
observed the calm physician.14 True; there are such men, answered Mr. Dimmesdale. But, not
to suggest more obvious reasons, it may be that they are kept silent by the very constitution of
their nature. Or, can we not suppose it? guilty as they may be, retaining, nevertheless, a zeal for
God s glory and man s welfare, they shrink from displaying themselves black and filthy in the

History
Before 1927, business studies were taught in early institution but there was no official record of it
evolution. Nevertheless, Professor Gras started a business history program that aimed at tracing the
chronologic development of history from small scale learning to the current institutions. He was an
editor of the Bulletin of the Business Historical Society since the year 1926 1953, which was later
transformed in the year 1953 to the modern Business History review (86). During this period,
business was learnt through the application of theories that were simple and specific to a certain
situation or discipline. The major factor that contributed to the narrow nature of the early business
was the motive of study. Individuals studied the field

Hurricane Research Papers
Several ships recorded hurricane force winds and pressures as low as 968 mbar (28.6 inHg),
though none entered the eye of the hurricane and sampled the lowest pressure in the storm. The
system produced winds of 54 mph (87 km/h) on Bermuda as it passed very close to that
island.[1] About this time, five ocean liners near each other encountered the storm; some
portholes on the Orca were damaged and 15 passengers were treated for cuts, bruises, and
contusions.[5] Off Nova Scotia, the cyclone produced an unspecified number of casualties,[6]
including the sinking of the schooners Sylvia Mosher and Sadie Knickle. Five people died and
one other person was injured after the Norwegian steamer Ringhord capsized near Scatarie Island.
One person also drowned after the Edith Newhall sunk. Many other boats and ships in and near
Nova Scotia capsized or ran aground, including 11 ships at New Harbour, 2 motorboats at Mosher s

The system also ranks as the third deadliest Canadian tropical cyclone of the 20th century, behind
only a hurricane in 1927 and the remnants of Hurricane Hazel in 1954.[7] After the storm,
Lunenburg Progress Enterprise publisher William Duff was one of few people calling for
schooners to be supplied with transmission and receiving radio equipment, while there were a
few requests for a rescue ship to be stationed at the fishing banks on standby should other ships
become distressed. However, little was done to improve mitigation prior to the hurricane in August
1927. In Nova Scotia, the families of the victims of the storm received monetary compensation via
the Workplace Safety Insurance Board. The agency became severely depleted of funds, leading the
board to announce a 5% increase in insurance rates for the fishing industry. Captains and vessel
owners responded by threatening to go on strike, forcing the board to reverse their

Circuit City Failure Essay
There are two main causes of the failure of Circuit City: First, the company was too goal oriented
and aggressive on winning the sales. According to the approach that the company used, Circuit City
opened a number of large stores at once in the same region, which definitely creates cannibalization.
It pushed so hard on the sale ignored the internal competition between each store. Also, consumers
were tired about the heavy advertising and found Best Buymore comfortable and friendly to shop
with. As a result, Circuit Citys 600 stores posted an annual loss of $89.3 million by the end of
2003. Second, the company did not stop and think about how to regain its market, but quickly fell
into the flat screen price war without clear positioning. It did not realize that nearly 44 percent of
its revenues came from TV sales, and if they did not pay enough attention and carefully make
decisions on this product, the company would be so to eroding margins! Circuit City focused too
much on the sales and paid no attention on analyzing, predicting, and reacting to the market
change. Therefore, when the sale dropped, it had to lowered the price as other competitors did, and
resulted by a huge loss on profit.

Paleo Diet Research Paper
As its name suggests, the Paleo Diet gets its inspiration through the Paleolithic era, when man
survived like a hunter gatherer. The diet, originated by Loren Cordain, health professor with the
Colorado State University, is dependant on a radical distinct thought. Professor Cordain argues that
considering that the humangenome hasn t evolved over the last 50,000 years possibly even, there
exists reason to imagine that this most natural diet for man is what his caveman ancestors ate. In
other words, once and for all health one should survive on fish, meats and eggs from grass fed and
naturally raised livestock, vegetables, roots, fruits and berries, seeds and nuts.
Directly because of this hunter gathering style the cavemen obviously led healthier lifestyles. We
often pile preservatives and chemicals into the body which are not around more than 100 years
ago. Day by day the recognition of paleo diet foods and the diets including them are becoming more
and more popular. Athletes seem to such as the extreme detox from the Paleo Diet and they are
increasing it s popularity.

With this new ball the home runs per game averaged up to 0.20 home runs a game. By 1925 the
home runs averaged up to 0.48 home runs per game. The ball was heavier, bigger in size, but the
seams were smooth so pitchers had less control of the ball. This ball was called the rabbit ball
because of the australian wool. In 1920 pitchers were restricted from spitballs and now had
intentional walks. The spitball was when you put saliva or vaseline on the ball which caused
the ball to spin in a weird way. If you get caught with a spitball you either get suspended for the
game or from the whole league. In 1931 they changed the cork center with cushioned cork pill
which was a mix of ground rubber and cork. The amount of homeruns went down to 0.43
homeruns a game. The balls in the American league were different then the balls that the
National league had but they decided to standardize the ball that the American league was using.
In WWII when the Japanese seized Malaya and the Dutch East Indies, the U.S. was cut off from
its usual source of supply . About a ton of rubber was used to make tanks and about half was used
for a long ranged bomber, therefore Uncle Sam restricted the use of rubber materials it was only
aloud to be used for the war so people were not aloud to use rubber to make baseballs anymore.

The Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy
Two different psychotherapies approaches were implemented in the Gloria videos each video
highlighted the respective approach of each psychotherapist. Albert Ellis who established the
Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) and Fritz Perls who developed the Gestalt approach.
Each therapy section in the video was about 30 minutes where each psychotherapist got the
opportunity to explain his theory, interview Gloria and then discuses and explain the his founding.
The main different between these two different approaches can be explained by the effect of the
interaction between the therapist and Gloria. The Gestalt approach focus on self awareness and the
present rather than the Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy(REBT), which focus on the cognitive,
emotional and behavioral conflicts.
When it comes to the theoretical view of human nature presented in the Gestalt approach the
problem starts when someone tries to be who he or she are not. According to clinical
psychology book writing by Trull, T. J., Prinstein, M. J. (2013). Fritz Perls believes people are
able to confront their problems if they become fully aware of what is happening within oneself
and outside of oneself. When an individual does not show whom or how they really feeling in
the outside it can make it difficult for a change. It is important for the patients to be aware of
what and who they are instead of trying to become what they are not. In the Gloria set of videos

The writer focuses on the doctrinal society of India while Koly s story proceeds, and often makes

Introduction:
Singapore, located in Southeast Asia, has a population of 5.39 million people. It s land area
stretches to 716.1 km2, with a high population density of 7615 per km2 (World Bank, n.d.).
Singapore serves as a financial and transportation hub and a global commerce. Its economy is
known for being the free, innovative, competitive, and business friendly. It integrated itself in many
economic sectors including financial services (fourth leading financial centre), manufacturing, oil
refining (third largest oil refining centre).
By the end of the 20th century, Singapore has shifted from a setting up a nation state into a
developed and global city. The city built a competitive economythrough the influx of migration
(Armaldas, 2009). In fact, Singapore was ranked, right after London and New York, as the third
most competitive city in the world by the Economist Intelligence Unit s Global City Competitive
Index. The qualification was based on 8 different categories that shaped a competitive city; from the
8, Singapore ranked number one in financial maturity and physical capital (Yew, 2014). Due to the
continuing competitiveness between Singapore and the neighboring cities and countries, including
China and India, the Singaporean government has been working and reconstructing their economic
foundation to hold on to its title East Asia s primary hub (Armaldas, 2009). My paper aims to

In the novel, The Fountainhead, the author Ayn Rand introduces her philosophy of Objectivism as
Rational Individualism. Rational Individualism is the self realization of one s worth and how to
go about life in the most logical and beneficial way for one s own well being. In The Fountainhead,
the protagonist, Howard Roark, is depicted by Ayn Randas the epitome of objectivism. A common
theme that has been brought up multiple times throughout this novel and plays a major role in
understanding rational individualism, would be integrity. Through Howard Roark, Ayn Rand
demonstrates the difficulty that most find with relying on one s own integrity and not relying on
others to make choices for you; which ultimately shapes who you are as an individual. In this scene

Cornelia de Lange Syndrome typically presents with a constellation of distinctive features affecting
several different parts of the body. There is a wide degree of variation between individuals with the
disorder in the presentation and severity of symptoms; however, the features described below
represent a typical presentation. Slow growth during both fetal and post natal development is a
characteristic feature of the disorder. Approximately 90% or more of patients display delayed
skeletal maturation, and about 50% were noted to have intrauterine growth retardation (2). Because
of this, individuals with Cornelia de Lange syndrome tend to be short in stature, with height and
weight falling below the fifth percentile throughout life (3).... Show more content on

Other limb issues such as small hands (micromelia) and incurved fifth finger (clinodactyly) are
prevalent (3,1). In addition to the above core features, the syndrome tends to have effects on
several major systems of the body. For example, sensorineural hearing loss impacts 80% of
children with CdLS; approximately 40% are severely affected (3). Opthalmological issues, such
as myopia (near sightedness) and nystagmus are also common. Patients may also have
inflammation of the eyelid of droopy eyelids (ptosis) (1). Neurological issues can include sleep
problems and seizures. Approximately 25% of diagnosed individuals experience seizures (3),
which can usually be well controlled with standard medical intervention (4). Neuroimaging has
shown characteristic features such as enlarged ventricles at the basal cisterns, undergrowth of the
brainstem and cerebral vermis, and atrophied white matter especially in the frotal lobes. High pain
tolerance caused by problems with peripheral neuropathy have also been reported (4). Cornelia de

i) The age distribution projection is the first external factor Johnny should be aware of and
consider. For example, Canada s population and workforce are aging, which means there will be a
reduced number of workers between the ages of 15 24. This will cause the overall workforce
population to age causing human resource professionals to spend more time creating a work
environment that supports multigenerational employees. This will require human resources to focus

Job analysis is often referred to as the corner stone of HR activities because almost every HR

provides knowledge for the following HR processes: work re design, workforce planning, selection,
training and development, performance management, career planning, and job evaluation (Steen,
Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, Wright, 2013, p.66 67). The information job analysis provides, acts as
the building blocks to these HR activities, thus bringing an understanding to job analysis being
referred to as the corner stone .

The Gardner-Webb University Anti-Human Trafficking Club
Recalling the first time hearing about human trafficking, I remember sitting with my mother during
the church service. As the pastor explained the brutality of human trafficking, an image began to
form in my head of a young prepubescent girl forced into compromising positions. Then, the pastor
stated something that broke my heart, the majority of these girls were not captured, but sold. They
were sold by their fathers, or other members of their families.
This situation is depressingly similar to the biblical account of Joseph being sold for a few pieces
of silver by his own brothers, and then dragged from Canaan to Egypt, over 200 miles. We prefer
to think the concept of selling people into slavery as if they were simple animals as an ancient
practice the human race has finally surpassed. Unfortunately we are very wrong. This barbaric,
possibly fatal, transaction continues to happen to 20.9 million people, over half women (10
million), and a quarter children (5 million) (source: Polaris Project). ... Show more content on

Ethical Argument Against Euthanasia
Medical Ethics
Medical ethics is always seen by many as an unusual blend; one many always seem to question.
The fuse appeals to a range of different temperaments, to the philosopher, the doctor, and to the
man or woman of action. It tackles the big questions of the morality of killing and the
painstakingly difficult decisions having to be made by many on a daily basis. It also relates to
the ethical spectrum as well, when can a mentally ill person be treated against their will? Is it a
crime for any doctor to practice a form of euthanasia? Where better to start medical ethics, than with
the complex topic of euthanasia.
The main idea of euthanasia goes against the oldest and most famous moral instructions in religion,
Thou shalt not kill [Exodus 20:13]. To be technical, the practice of euthanasia is morally required
by the two main principles of medical practice: the respect for the patient s autonomy, and to
promote their best interests. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

or argumentum ad hominem, where a particular view is true or false, not because of the reasons in

The second more widely known view is that all views by the Nazis are immoral. Some Nazis
may hold views that do not relate directly, but they would not be seen as Nazi views . The Nazi
views being referred are their horrific actions of torture and senseless killing. The problem with this
view is however that the supporters of euthanasia are not supporters of the Nazis, and so this point
can be considered invalid. The point at issue is whether euthanasia in certain circumstances is moral
or immoral. All depends on the specific circumstances at hand and the best interests of the patient at

Descriptive Essay On A Christmas Walker
The other day my mom came home from the store with the usual armful of cardboard bags.
However, there was something very different about one bag that separated it from all of the
others. My mom asked me to unload the items and organize them into their awaiting shelves. Their
contents contained typical groceries such as cereal, some new herbal teas, and a fresh bottle of
dish detergent. But, this special bag carried a large Yankee candle encased in glass and
embellished with a large sticker reading ChristmasCookie . On the label a petite tree shaped sugar
cookie sat on a plate. Immediately, I smiled because cookie scented candles are my absolute
favorite. I rushed to the second drawer of the kitchen island and pulled out the lighter and
instantaneously ignited the wick. As I watched the flame blossom with satisfaction, I was
suddenly punched in the face by nostalgia. The warm, comforting and sweet smell of that candle
had somehow transported me back to christmas a few years ago. I was a joyful, little third grader.
My family and I lived in Reno and to everyone s surprise, there was a fair amount of snow
carpeting the ground. It was Christmas Eveand with the glorious day of Christmas right around the
corner I could hardly stand the anticipation. My mom prepared for the night by lighting the
Christmas Cookie candle and bringing out large boxes full of decorations waiting to be put on
display. Like every other Christmas Eve, we filled the night with classic Christmas

Effective Management in Healthcare Organizations
The present environments for healthcare organizations contain many forces demanding

The manager must make certain that it take place in a organized way. Market driven healthcare
restructuring has directed to the development of integrated delivery systems through mergers and

important reorganizations and modification to meet the increasing demands of improved healthcare
access and quality as well as lowered costs. As the use of information technology to development
medical data increases, much of the critical information required to meet these challenges is being
stored in digital design (Austin Hornberger, 2000). Web enabled information technologies can

Information management is the effective, efficient, organization wide planning, directing, and
control of information within an integrated technology system. Managing information technology
in a business today is very different. Managers in healthcare organizations should treat information

The Positive Implication Of Multinational Corporations
Introduction
The global landscape of business is continually expanding and major companies are crossing
borders in their daily business activities. As these multinational corporations branch into new areas,
known as emerging markets, they will face a plethora of risk, challenges, and opportunities.
Branding and sustainability are two major aspects of a business and emerging markets provide a
different landscape that will require strategic changes and innovative solutions. One of the major
ramifications of these corporations entering emerging markets, is their coherence to the principles
of corporate social responsibility (CSR). Whereas much of the past research on this topic focuses
primarily on the risks and challenges a company faces in such a situation, this paper will focus
primarily on the positive implications of Multinational Corporations (MNCs). This paper will look
to answer what CSR efforts should be taken by MNCs? What are the risk, challenges, and benefits
to MNCs and the emerging market? What are the effects on the MNCs brand when they participate
in CSR? How is the nature of the emerging market important when taking into consideration CSR?
Given the stature and resources that many MNCs have, they have the potential to make a major
positive impact on emerging markets in the realm of ethics, rights, and quality of life.

Structural Steel And Sustainability Of Construction Materials
Structural Steel and Sustainability The sustainability of construction materials is a huge topic in
today s world of engineering. Finding a way to improve the efficiency, costs, and environmental
impact of construction is a key discussion topic. When it comes to structural steel being used today,
our society is pushing towards the use of green steel. This term is used to represent the life cycle of
steel as well as the production of structural steel. While most construction materials differ
significantly from one another, structural steel is manufactured from recycled materials, but only at
a limited number of locations. Another important aspect of green steel is the cradle to cradle
process that it goes through. The cradle to cradle... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Over ninety percent of structural steel is able to be obtained from recycled materials; only two
percent of steel goes into landfills after the use of its lifetime, while the other ninety eight percent
is used again for other buildings and needs. One thing to keep in mind is that once the steel is
recycled, it does not lose any of its attributes and is not considered to be down cycled. Structural
steel is able to maintain all of it characteristics and can be used to build just about anything. Not
only do buildings being constructed today have recycled steel from old structures, but they can also
contain material from old vehicles and appliances. A very important component of recycling
structural steel is mill production. The cradle to cradle nature of steel has caused an increase in
efficiency and waste utilization of steel mills. The recycling process has improved so much over
the years that we are even able to capture the dust that is produced in the process and in turn use
it to our advantage. Mill production has become very efficient and will only improve as our
electric grid improves. As the electric grids across the United States become more renewable, we
will in turn be able to decrease the carbon footprint left behind by steel production. Since 1980, we
have been able to produce the same amount of steel at almost twelve hours faster. Today we are
able to produce

Examples Of Diseconomies Of Scale
Diseconomies of scale
The Economic theory tells that a firm may become less efficient if it becomes large. The
additional costs of being larger are called diseconomies of scale.
The Diseconomies of scale gives us a result in rising long run average costs which are experienced
when a firm expands beyond its optimum scale, at Q. Examples of diseconomies include:
1.Larger firms often suffer poor communication because they find it difficult to maintain an
effective flow of information between departments and subsidiaries. For example, a huge
supermarket chain may be less responsive to changing tastes and fashions than a much smaller or
local retailer.
2.X inefficiency is the loss of management efficiency that occurs when firms become large and

methods to control diseconomies of scale
Big firms often face huge organisational difficulties that can slow them down and cause costs and
problems. So I was into a BBC article the big businesses learning how to think small which
appeared soon after Steve Jobs death. His insistence on no committees and talking to everyone at
least once in a every week was, he said, that is more enough to keep Apple more productive,
efficient and successful in terms.
I don t know if that s true, but for big organisations, with their vast and varied resources and
bewildering bureaucracy, operating with the attitude of a technology start up is a distant dream.
Poorly handled communication skills set, the low levels of motivation prevailing and a shortage of
innovative ideas are classic diseconomies of scale that are typical of larger organisations.
The article quotes the general manager of Walker s Crisps, part of global giant PepsiCo:
Start ups try, they fail, they adapt, they move on. They try, they fail, they adapt, they move on. In

Bacteria is everywhere you look and you have millions of them living inside you, not all of which

consist of a bacteriacalled clostridium tetaniwhich invades the nervous system causing muscle

most often in the jaw causing the muscles to commonly known as Lockjaw . The bacteria gets
inside the host cell and produces harmful toxins. According to the centers for disease control 10 to
20% of people affected by tetanus result in death (Atkinson,2009). This paper will go more in depth

The severity of tetanus has been around for many years and has since been developed and studied
differently. The symptoms and descriptions of tetanus have been traced back to the 5th century
BCE which hasn t been completely proven that it was discovered then. Tetanus was produced by
two researchers named Carle and Rattone in 1884, by experimenting with animals and injecting
them with puss from a person infected with severe tetanus( Tetanus n.d). The injection of animals

Achilles The Real Hero In The Iliad
The Iliad, a series of epic poems originated from Homer and rewritten by Robert Lattimore,
chronicles three main characters: Achilles, Hector, and Agamemnon. All three of these courageous
men share common traits which variate with their roles in the war effort. Of the three, two are
clearly heroes whilst one can almost be considered a villain. Therefore, as seen through quotes from
the Iliadthe real hero becomes quickly identified. Achilleshas been considered the greatest hero of
the Greeks in the Iliad for numerous valid reasons. Similarly, Achilles not only stays humble, but
extremely courageous. Waiting patiently for Hector, Achilles says, No man so long as I am alive

What Makes Good People Do Bad Things By Susan Dittman
Describing someone with the word evil refers to them committing an action that is considered
immoral and malicious. Evil people pull off these type acts: robbing a bank, violent killings of
living creatures, and even mental abuse through verbal or physical actions. Many people always
wonder, what was the initial purpose of committing such inhumane actions? They may say hatred,
anger, and revenge are some of the causes of evil. Although these traits do cause the idea of evil in
an individual, the inspiration for iniquitous intents is in fact sprouted through the unideal human
traits of apathy and ego.
One of the human traits that cause evil is apathy; for it makes people not consider the other
individuals feelings and security. Every ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example is in fact in our society. In modern society, people tend to act as bystanders,
people who don t pay attention to their surroundings. Take into the account of witnessing the
scenarios of someone being bullied and a homeless man begging for money. In the bullying
scenario, most of the time, the people acting like bystanders do nothing about the situation at
hand. Typically, the right idea is to address the stakes at hand, whether calling for help or even
putting oneself out there. Unfortunately, our society ignores the fact of another human is being
verbally or physically abused. We tend to be in our own little worlds when we encounter an
event such as bullying due to the fact we feel as if there isn t a way we can help. Instead of
helping a fellow peer with a challenge, we re afraid to put ourselves out there. We refuse because
we mainly care for our well being or we simply don t believe we have what it takes to fix the
situation; this leads to the feeling of apathy. The homeless person scenario is no different. When a
homeless person begs for money, the common courtesy is to of course contribute any amount of
money towards the homeless man; however, this concept

The Symbolism In The Cask Of Amontillado By Edgar Allen Poe
Edgar Allen Poe is known for the various literary devices he uses in his works. One of the most
famous devices he uses is symbolism. In many of his stories, including The Masque of the Red
Death, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Tell Tale Heart, and The Cask of Amontillado, Poe
uses symbolism to further develop each story by the messages he writes between the lines.
Symbolism is an important aspect of Poe s many works, seeing as how it allows the readers to
make connections within the stories. In The Cask of Amontillado, Poe represents symbolism through
the title of the short story, the outfit Fortunato wears, and the Montresor family motto and coat of
arms. Many would not look to a title of a piece of literature for symbolism. In The Cask of
Amontillado, Poe uses the key word cask as a huge symbol. The word cask refers to, a sturdy
cylindrical container for storing liquids, such as Amontillado, a fine wine, in this case (Lorcher).
Montresor introduces the topic of the wine to his former friend Fortunato by saying, My dear
Fortunato, you are luckily met. How remarkably well you are looking to day. But I have
received a pipe of what passes for Amontillado, and I have my doubts (Poe). Fortunato is
extremely intoxicated from carnival festivities prior to his conversation with Montresor, so it is
probable that his decision to go into the catacombs with Montresor is not for the benefit of
anyone but himself. He sees this journey with Montresor as a way to acquire one of two
possible outcomes free wine or a chance to further humiliate Montresor, especially after
Montresor suggests that Fortunato is not capable of distinguishing the Amontillado and mentions
the name of a rival, Luchresi (Lorcher). The symbolism in the key word of cask is that it has the
same root as the word casket. Poe s use of symbolism in this regard is often overlooked and

Why Online Casino Games Are Becoming Increasingly Popular
Blog 26 5 more reasons why online casino games are becoming increasingly popular
Thankfully for players around the world, the need to visit a land based casino in order to place a
wager is now a thing of the past. During the late 1990s a brand new web based concept gate
crashed the gambling scene and changed the face of the industry forever. Online casino gaming has
made gambling more accessible than it has ever been before. Pushing land based casino play well
into the background, casino online gaming is now growing in popularity and here are 5 more
reasons as to why that is the case.
Reason No. 1 Play Anywhere
Odds are they are memories that have a tinge of nostalgia about them, but let s be honest; visiting a
land based casino to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Adding to the degree of variety made available, web based casinos also make room for game
tutorials and various other educational tools.
Reason No. 3 Player Anonymity
Digital innovation has done wonders for the world of casino play. While everyone is aware of
what it has done for game variation and accessibility, it is also worth mentioning what it has done
with regards for anonymity. Unless you choose to make your screen something that reflects who
you are, you are able to play in total anonymity. The best casino online brands now also incorporate
bitcoin, a currency that allows for not just partial anonymity while gambling online but total
anonymity. When everything is factored into the equation in most instances the only person who
will ever know that you are gambling online is you.
Reason No. 4 Boundary less Play
What makes casino gaming extra special is the fact that it in today s environment there really is
no boundaries in place. Any place, any setting, any game, any jackpot, and under almost any
circumstance, the industry is open and available to anyone who is willing to wager online not
matter where it is in the world they live. From 1p to ВЈ100,000 you can wager whatever it is you
feel and there is nothing stop you.
Reason No. 5 Social Acceptance
For years the rest of the world derived both the web based casino

Social Conformity Of The 1950 s
The social conformity of the 1950s can best be described as a traditional family that abides by
their gender roles. Essentially, the 1950s were when people could finally take advantage of the
new time consuming inventions and economic boosts after having experienced WWII and the
Great Depression. However, the social conformity was just the general overview of the 1950s but
poverty, racism, and alienation still persisted. The resistance against social conformity was
expressed by rebellion including occurrences like the Empire Zinc Strike, the Mendez v.
Westminster case, and Montgomery Bus Boycott. Particularly, the Empire Zinc Strike of 1951 was
when Mexican American mine workers were being discriminated in terms of working conditions

The E Cargo Bike
Once the overall market has been determined, the next step is to segment the market. I would
begin with a geographic segmentation characteristic, focusing on individuals living in urban
areas. The e cargo bike has extensive storage, and the ability to use the motor makes it easy to
tow large loads without having to rely completely on manual peddling. This makes it a great
alternative to using a car in large cities. Parking can be very expensive and inconvenient, so the e
cargo bike could also save people a great deal of money, while offering the convenience of
skipping the traffic. Not only can the bike tow physical cargo, it can also be used to tow
children, as kids bike seats can be attached to the back. Making it a great option for parents who
were not ready to give up city life and move to suburbia. The second segmentation characteristic I
would focus on is psychographic, narrowing in on individuals who are very conscious of their
environmental footprint. The Pedego Stretch e cargo bike uses a rechargeable lithium battery with
Samsung cells. Not only is this a long lasting battery, it is a much more environmentally friendly
option than burning fuel and releasing the exhaust into the air when driving a car. The battery
should last between 2 4 years and offers a 3 year warranty, which is not only environmentally
friendly, but also economical. You will not be putting a battery into a landfill each year, further
reducing your carbon footprint. Another

Essay on Oscar Wao is the Zafa to the Fuku
Oscar Wao is without doubt the Zafa to the Fuku and let me tell you why. In the novel The Brief
Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot DГaz, Oscar lives a life full of regret, sorrow and
hopelessness. As Dominican male, getting girls is not just a fun thing to say around friends. It is
part of the Dominican lifestyle. If you can get girls, you are respected and are living the so called
Dominican way. For Oscar, he thought he had it all when he was young. He had the girls and the
confidence. That is, until, he hit his teens...Oscar suffered a very tough breakup that would not just
affect him for a week or so, but for about the next fifteen years of his life. Oscar turned to Science

This attitude that Oscar conveyed is not the best when trying to make friends.
While at Rutgers, Oscar thought he had something going with a girl named Jenni MuГ±uz. They
became pretty good friends, getting into deep conversations and telling each other secrets. Oscar
only imagined the relationship developing into Jenni becoming his girlfriend. The Fuku had to
be getting the best of Oscar at this point, as Jenni found another guy that she made her boyfriend.
Again, Oscar was more than crushed. His heart had cracked into a million pieces, glued back
together and the shattered again. Oscar was in such bad shape after Jenni found a boyfriend that
he decided to commit suicide. Luckily for Oscar, he survived his jump from the bridge as he
landed safely on the median. Oscar makes it through college and finds a nice job teaching at his
old high school in New Jersey. It is not until a much needed trip to the Dominican Republic where
his attitude starts to change.
Oscar continued to teach at his old high school in New Jersey, sad and depressed everyday for
three years, that is until his trip to Santo Domingo. Oscar forgot how much he had missed spending
time in the Dominican. His mind was no longer filled to the brim with disappointment, stress and
the feeling of being depressed. For the first time in a while, he saw beautiful

Using Computers And Software Programs
The creation of new and advance technology is playing a significant role in the job functions of
police officers, arming them with tools that have the ability to make them more knowledgeable and
perform more effectively. The use of computers and software programs by law enforcement
personnel has a variety of advantages and disadvantages in relation to criminal investigation and
law enforcement. The use of computers and software programs have become beneficial tools for
the criminal enterprise and for the prosecution in a criminal case.
Technology has enabled law enforcement officers to launch queries about an individual from a
variety of databases (Roberts, 2011). The development of the Integrated Automated Fingerprint
Identification System (IAFIS) has empowered law enforcement with the ability to easily identify
suspects during a criminal investigation and access criminal histories, while in the field and solve
cases faster (Roberts, 2011). The Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System enable law
enforcement officers to decrease the number of cold or unsolved criminal cases, increase
communication between multiple agencies, and match past unsolved crimes (The Federal Bureau
of Investigation [FBI], n.d.). Overall, the IAFIS has made it possible for law enforcement to
apprehend criminals, and solve and prevent crimes (FBI, n.d.). The Next Generation Identification
Program (NGI) has been developed to allow law enforcement to respond faster with more

How Did Conficius Bring Peace And Justice
Conficius grew up in a time where feudal lords where constantly fighting each other for control
because the government was weak. As a result, Conficius never forgot his childhood misery
caused by the horrendous atrocities committed by the rulers. Since his mom work was not enough
to survive for both of them, he started working at a really young age, which provided him with the
opportunity to understand the people s lives. Instead of learning the art of fighting, Conficius read
through many books seeking one solution that would bring peace and justice to his people.
Conficius main goal was to end corruption and restore peace, but he needed a government position
to implement his policies. He believed that the differences between classes would

Influences Of The Meiji Era
Influences of the Meiji Era The Meiji Era was a move into modernism and a step towards western
changes. Japan, influenced by Western Powers, would go through an immense government shift,
which would potentially be the turning point to a new era of ideas. During this political shift,
literature would reflect criticisms and struggles of the people in this time. Also as this major
change takes place, the lifestyles of many are either improved or destroyed. Therefore the culture of
the Meiji Era during the years of 1868 to 1912 was shaped by its bureaucratic government while the
literature of Mori Ogai evinces its cultural connection. During the Meiji Era, to show Western
powers their strength and independence, Japan underwent many changes, one... Show more content

A key ingredient to the abolition of feudalism was, By providing a new environment of political
and financial security, the government made possible investments in new industries and
technology. ( The Meiji par.11)These new industries would open up more jobs for citizens and
would therefore better their lives and increase the economies wealth. Another matter is that the
new technology would change how things were run, the old traditional ways would be replaced
with more modern solutions. Another major element to a new system of life was the railway,
...after the railway was completed in the late 1880s [a journey between Edo and Kyoto] took
less than one day. Moreover the rail fare was less than a third of the cost of the trip by sedan
chair. (Henshall 76)This big improvement in transportation would mark the beginning of
technology making the lives of everyday citizens more easier and less expensive. By being able
to go to such lengths for only a short amount time and money, the people of Japan are extremely
likely to go aboard the train and that would in turn boost the economy once again. In addition to
economical changes there were clothing changes as well, Western dress became fashionable among
progressives and in 1872 became compulsory for government officials (including on ceremonial
occasions) and civil servants such as

The Happy Accidents Of The Swing Analysis
Some men would never commission a painting to idolize their mistress, however Baron de St.
Julien felt as though he needed to immortalize his forbidden love in a painting and Jean Honore
Fragonard was the only artist of the time to agree to this request. Jean Honore Fragonard s The
Swing also known as The Happy Accidents of the Swing is a stupendous example of the Rococoera
because of how dainty and light it was which is ironic because of its adulterous themes. How
Fragonard portrayed St. Juliens vision made men of the Enlightenment uncomfortable and enraged
with the artwork because it made men look immoral and foolish.
Jean Honore Fragonard s claim to fame was The Swing, but who was he before he became
prominent in the art community? He was born in Southern France, but as a child, him and his
family moved to Paris. In Paris, he first started out as a clerk but soon garnered an interest in art
and promptly switched over to a career in art. Specifically, he worked in the studio of Jean
SimГ©on Chardin, where he most likely learned the basic properties of art, and later became the
apprentice of François Boucher, where he learned the Rococo style.1 However, before he could
become the apprentice of Boucher, Fragonard studied more advanced techniques in Italy and
France because Boucher saw potential in him, but did not want someone who was so
inexperienced under his wing. Later, Fragonard entered into a Prix de Rome competition in 1752
and won with his creation Jeroboam

The Sociological Canon
The field of sociology has three sociologists who form the sociological canon, of whom many
theories, and strategies have formed how we look at society. Karl Marx, Max Weber, and Emile
Durkhiem all share a similar timeline when they were born, but even with that similarity these
sociologists saw the world in vastly different scopes which influenced their theories. These
contrasting values and theories show clearly in their work and has led to some of the most
influential works within the field, hence their place as the sociological canon. It is interesting to
see the contrasting nature between these very influential sociologists and will be the focus of
this essay. While looking at the three sociologists who make up the sociological canon it is
important to take into consideration how they view social order and social change. Karl Marx
used his theory of social class in order to explain how society structured itself (Bratton, Denham
2014). Marx theorized that classes were relational, exploitive, and conflictive in nature. Marx
explained social order, by way of the labour market and modes of production. His theories showed
a pessimistic but realistic view of how the system abuses and takes advantage of the working class,
and through strife the working class needed to empower themselves to grow and reach their
potential. Emile Durkheim theorized about the division of labour, which was a written work that
analyzed the relationship between social solidarity and the

Why Is Grendel Bad
In the story Beowulf Grendel is seen as a villain; he goes around causing havoc, but in the story
Grendel he s blamed as the victim because he s alone and a curious outcast. Beowulf is the leader
of the Geats, defeats monster from all around, known as the leader. Both of these characters think

In this case study, the intangible factors include Kelly s cultural propensity towards emphasising
her entitlement to use her accumulated sick leave while Mr. Higashi s cultural propensity towards
respect for his employer and expectation of his subordinates means that he believes the ALT s
should utilise their paid leave entitlements first.
It is initially hard to distinguish which of these tangible or intangible factors are more important.
Based on the cultural dimensions and values identified further in the report, it is clear that each
has its own importance and merit. Understanding the cultural norms and expectations at play in the
case study are critical to resolving the conflict at hand. Whilst Kelly believed she had adequate
prior knowledge of the Japanese culture, it is clear that she is not as well versed as she thinks.
Mr. Higashi has a responsibility to his employees (which include the Japanese workers) to ensure
that equality prevails in the workplace and the hierarchical, masculine structure is preserved. As
detailed in section 3, Japanese culture is about hard work, loyalty, and honour. If Kelly were to
take her concerns directly to CLAIR without first attempting to resolve them with Mr. Higashi, she
may inadvertently bring shame to Mr. Higashi and cause him to lose face (Lewicki, 2011).
Although Kelly has tangible considerations at play, the intangible factors associated with Mr.

Social Media Wellness, By Ana Homayoun
Ana Homayoun, author of Social Media Wellness: Helping Teens and Tweens Thrive in an
Unbalanced Digital World, wrote an article in The New York Times about the conflicts parents
face with allowing their children to have smartphones. She gives insight on how to minimize the
risk of smartphone addiction by establishing guidelines and monitoring children s use. Reasons
for Concern In Homayoun s article, she cites a study done by Common Sense Media in 2016
which found that half of teenagers felt addicted to their smartphones, 78 percent checked their
devices hourly, and 72 percent of teens felt pressured to respond immediately to social media
messages, texts, or any kind of notification. Homayoun also cites another study done by Pew
Research in 2015 which found that 74 percent of teenagers from 13 to 17 year olds had
smartphones and a quarter of them felt like they were online continuously. Distinguishing

sleep deprivation can also be red flags for abuse. A 10 item questionnaire developed by South

Marrying Absurd
Joan Didion s essay Marrying Absurd is a comical review of Las Vegas and its wedding business.
It gives the reader a more in depth look at the things they always expected were happening in
Nevada but were never concerned enough about to do the research. While I already knew most of
the information in the essay, Didion presented it in such an entertaining, sarcastic manner that I
was never bored. Without coming right out and saying just what she thought of the industry she
told us exactly how she felt about the Las Vegas spur of the moment way of life by choosing her
words very carefully. All of these services, like most others in Las Vegas...are offered twenty four

The picture of the wedding party sipping pink champagne (minus the bride who is too young to do

bride was several months pregnant she shows that the Las Vegas wedding is probably not the real
desire but the necessity, demonstrating that drunken impulse is

8th Grade Argument Essay
With the eighth graders at the High School, this year teachers have more responsibility to enforce
the rules. But some people think they are enforcing them too well. When I come to school and see
eighth graders and ninth graders in particular getting in trouble, i typically hear stuff like You re not
in the middle schoolanymore and You need to shape up all the time. But thing is that the eighth
graders still belong in the middle schooland the ninth graders are brand new. Because of this the
adults and staff should pay close attention to these students, but that doesn t mean the they should
hold us to the same standards as the seniors that have been in the high schoolsince at least 2012. On
October 19th, 2016 the juniors took the PSAT s in the eighth grade classrooms, therefore moving
the eighth graders on field trips. But before these field trips the eighth graders had three assemblies.

while I don t think they should be disbanded I do believe that the staff in charge of them should
spice them up. The first assembly I attended was to discourage gossip. It was set up like the Jerry
Springer show. I m not going to lie it was more interesting than most but i still didn t really like
it. The actors and actresses (some but not all) didn t do the best reading their l lines and it seemed
as if they were picked out of the audience 20 minutes before. The rest of the assemblies were

Rogue Wave Analysis
It is not safe for teens to sail by themselves or with friends. Although, sailing by themselves or with
friends can help them get more experience with sailing and even fishing. It can also help them learn
more about the ocean and the different things in the ocean. But, many things could go wrong while
they are sailingand no one can help them, they could die or go missing forever! If a teen goes
sailing by themselves or with few friends, they could go missing somewhere in the ocean and no
one could find them. In the article Marine experts say missing Fla. teenagers should not have
been alone offshore, it says that Two 14 year old boys had gone missing off the coast of Florida in
a fishing boat, it doesn t say if they have found the children yet so they probably haven t. It also
says that they searched day and night and haven t found the children. Also, if a teen goes sailing
by themselves, many things could go wrong, like somethings could break, something could fall
out of the boat, or someone could get trapped in the boat. In the short story Rogue Wave Scoot had
gotten trapped under the deck and was sinking every minute. In the story, it says that the doors
were jammed and there was only very few ways out from the inside unless they had tools. It also
says that the bow submerging and the boat going... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Analysis Of Lolita s Tehran, And Fidelity When entering this unit of postmodernism, my only thoughts were of a reluctant nature. I pessimistically expected only disagreement and frustration from reading the works of Life of Pi, Reading Lolita in Tehran, and Fidelity. However, my initial expectations were completely and thankfully wrecked. Though the philosophies of both Martel and Nafisi contradict my own, there are endless gems of insight to be plundered from their writings. These postmodern works emphasize where we as humans find our identity and how religionplays into that identity. Contrary to my presumptions, I learned so much from reading these novels woven with postmodernists thought and can say with confidence that I am a better and more educated person for having read them. Postmodernism is not a wholly cohesive ideology that can be covered in a single blanket statement. It is more of an umbrella that contains many miscellaneous modern conceptions of things. (Uhhhh citation, idrk) There is an over arching theme, however, that rejects objective truth. This belief would argue that truth can be constructed by each person individually. For Pi, this meant his house could be a temple for gods from Hinduism, Christianity, and Islam (Martel 45 46). It did not matter that those religions were not congruous, he just wanted to love God (Martel 69). His truth was that all religions are true (Martel 69). Nafisi similarly creates her own truth in her living room which became [her] sanctuary, [her] self contained ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Rhetorical Analysis Of Why English Is Not The National... Introduction Many people have questioned why the United States does not have a national language, and more specifically, why English is not the national language. Among these people is Dennis Baron, who publishes his thoughts on this topic very often. One of his essays, considered a proposal, is titled Don t Make English Official Ban It Instead and discusses a new way of approaching English as the national language: banning English completely in America. Baron examines other opinions and their flaws and then establishes contrasting points that are subtly sarcastic. He is immensely effective in addressing his points and argument through the use of various techniques. The author conveys his ideas not only through his words, but through... His first reference is to A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift; Baron uses this to allow his readers to understand that his proposal will be satirical. Baron alludes to the Garden of Eden twice throughout his proposal; both times are to make the parallel between temptations in the Bible and the temptations of Americans. Historical figures that Baron mentioned throughout his work were Roger Sherman, Ross Perot, and William F. Buckley Jr. whom are all political figures that allow Baron s audience of legislatures to further understand the context of his proposal. Events in history added by the author include Hastings, World War I and II, the American Revolution, the Louisiana Purchase, and the Prohibition. Each of the events he references add context of time period and conflicts that may or already have arisen from the problems that Baron is addressing. • 4. My Solitary Purpose Of Applying For Graduate Program Statement of Purpose My solitary purpose of applying for graduate program at your university is to pursue a carrier of professional researcher and educationalist in the field of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. After completing my PhD and post doctorate programs, I want to see myself as a fully matured professional researcher in an organization, or a faculty member in a renowned university. And graduate program is the first step in attaining of my long cherished dream. In addition to that, my undergraduate study at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), in the department of Chemical Engineering has exposed me to the real nature of chemical and biochemical engineering. Environment of my undergraduate university is very strong and here the research and theoretical knowledge go forward parallel. As a result, I have discovered that I have a strong interest in research work and a very good aptitude for problem solving and problem detecting. In sum, because of these reasons I have decided to pursue my higher studies in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. There always will be a winning side and a losing side, despite that we have to move forward to see the future; No one has been successful without overcoming hindrance on the pathway of triumph. The above philosophy has played a significant role in shaping of my objectives and framing of my future plans. My childhood was completely different compared to the other kids. • 5. Mental Health Treatment Of Mental Illnesses Approximately 20% of all children show at least minimal impairment from a mental health illness (Odar, C. o., Canter, K., Roberts, M. m. 2013). Around 31% of girls and 42% of boys between the ages of 9 and 16 years old meet the criteria of at least one mental health illness (Costello, E. J., Mustillo, S., Erkanli, A., Keeler, G., Angold, A. 2003). Some of these illnesses may include schizophrenia, bipolar disease, depression, etc. These illnesses may require continuous care and treatment for many years and can be very costly. There are many problems when it comes to the treatment of mental illnesses. Some of these problems are access, cost and funding, and the delivery of care. The first problem with mental health treatment is access. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cost of outpatient treatment is expensive. Most psychiatrists offices and hospitals require high copayments and deductibles if the treatment is covered under the patient s insurance plan. But according to a report done by the Center for Disease Control, people with serious mental illnesses are less likely to have health insurance, so they would be required to pay even more money out of pocket if they decide to receive treatment (Cohn, J. 2015). The funding required for treatment is also a big issue. In the early 20th century, insurance companies did not cover mental health care at all. Eventually, they started adding mental health coverage, and by the 1980s, managed care was introduced and was lowering costs (Cohn, J. 2015). But patients were concerned that these lower prices were compromising the quality of care. The quality and delivery of care is another mental health problem in the healthcare system. Due to the Mental Health Parity Act of 2008, insurers are required to provide the same coverage for both mental health treatment and medical/surgical treatment (Burns, J 2014). This could cause insurers to limit the length of stay for all patients in hospitals or residential care and could cause more readmissions to occur. It could also cause all patients to receive insufficient treatment. Implications Having little access to treatment or care can affect both patients and providers. It makes it harder for patients to receive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Journal of the European Economic Association, 10(4), 831 859. doi:10.1111/j.1542 4774.2012.01069.x This article is about the threat of merger and the influence of a monopolistic media. The author suggests that a single media unit would eliminate the politicization of its news out of purely capitalistic notions which is in the exact opposite to the article Media Bias and Reputation. Simon Anderson is a Professor of Economics at the University of Virginia. John McLaren works for the Department of Economics at the University of Virginia as well. They use primarily logic to push their point and are a very down to earth professor/faculty combo. Baron, D. P. (2006). Persistent Media Bias. He has an extensive work history becoming an established professor and author of over 100 articles and several books. This dude is credible. The article is over the causes of bias and where the root of media bias stems. This will be an excellent source for developing an argument from the very beginning of the problem. He states several appeals to logic in a formatted article over the capitalistic pressures that fundamentally alter the media and the permutation of bias amongst its ranks. DellaVigna, S., Kaplan, ... • 7. Old Roger Chillingworth OLD Roger Chillingworth, throughout life, had been calm in temperament, kindly, though not of warm affections, but ever, and in all his relations with the world, a pure and upright man. He had begun an investigation, as he imagined, with the severe and equal integrity of a judge, desirous only of truth, even as if the question involved no more than the air drawn lines and figures of a geometrical problem, instead of humanpassions, and wrongs inflicted on himself. But, as he proceeded, a terrible fascination, a kind of fierce, though still calm, necessity seized the old man within its gripe, and never set him free again, until he had done all its bidding. He now dug into the poor clergyman s heart, like a miner searching for gold; or, rather,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How can it be otherwise? Why should a wretched man, guilty, we will say, of murder, prefer to keep the dead corpse buried in his own heart, rather than fling it forth at once, and let the universe take care of it! 13 Yet some men bury their secrets thus, observed the calm physician.14 True; there are such men, answered Mr. Dimmesdale. But, not to suggest more obvious reasons, it may be that they are kept silent by the very constitution of their nature. Or, can we not suppose it? guilty as they may be, retaining, nevertheless, a zeal for God s glory and man s welfare, they shrink from displaying themselves black and filthy in the view of men; because, thenceforward, no good can be achieved by them; no evil of the past be redeemed by better service. He was an editor of the Bulletin of the Business Historical Society since the year 1926 1953, which was later transformed in the year 1953 to the modern Business History review (86). During this period, business was learnt through the application of theories that were simple and specific to a certain situation or discipline. • 10. Circuit City Failure Essay There are two main causes of the failure of Circuit City: First, the company was too goal oriented and aggressive on winning the sales. According to the approach that the company used, Circuit City opened a number of large stores at once in the same region, which definitely creates cannibalization. It pushed so hard on the sale ignored the internal competition between each store. Also, consumers were tired about the heavy advertising and found Best Buymore comfortable and friendly to shop with. As a result, Circuit Citys 600 stores posted an annual loss of $89.3 million by the end of 2003. Second, the company did not stop and think about how to regain its market, but quickly fell into the flat screen price war without clear positioning. It did not realize that nearly 44 percent of its revenues came from TV sales, and if they did not pay enough attention and carefully make decisions on this product, the company would be so to eroding margins! • 13. The Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy Two different psychotherapies approaches were implemented in the Gloria videos each video highlighted the respective approach of each psychotherapist. Albert Ellis who established the Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) and Fritz Perls who developed the Gestalt approach. Each therapy section in the video was about 30 minutes where each psychotherapist got the opportunity to explain his theory, interview Gloria and then discuses and explain the his founding. The main different between these two different approaches can be explained by the effect of the interaction between the therapist and Gloria. The Gestalt approach focus on self awareness and the present rather than the Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy(REBT), which focus on the cognitive, emotional and behavioral conflicts. When it comes to the theoretical view of human nature presented in the Gestalt approach the problem starts when someone tries to be who he or she are not. According to clinical psychology book writing by Trull, T. J., Prinstein, M. J. (2013). Fritz Perls believes people are able to confront their problems if they become fully aware of what is happening within oneself and outside of oneself. When an individual does not show whom or how they really feeling in the outside it can make it difficult for a change. It s land area stretches to 716.1 km2, with a high population density of 7615 per km2 (World Bank, n.d.). Singapore serves as a financial and transportation hub and a global commerce. Its economy is known for being the free, innovative, competitive, and business friendly. It integrated itself in many economic sectors including financial services (fourth leading financial centre), manufacturing, oil refining (third largest oil refining centre). By the end of the 20th century, Singapore has shifted from a setting up a nation state into a developed and global city. The city built a competitive economythrough the influx of migration (Armaldas, 2009). In fact, Singapore was ranked, right after London and New York, as the third most competitive city in the world by the Economist Intelligence Unit s Global City Competitive Index. The qualification was based on 8 different categories that shaped a competitive city; from the 8, Singapore ranked number one in financial maturity and physical capital (Yew, 2014). Due to the continuing competitiveness between Singapore and the neighboring cities and countries, including China and India, the Singaporean government has been working and reconstructing their economic foundation to hold on to its title East Asia s primary hub (Armaldas, 2009). Rational Individualism is the self realization of one s worth and how to go about life in the most logical and beneficial way for one s own well being. In The Fountainhead, the protagonist, Howard Roark, is depicted by Ayn Randas the epitome of objectivism. A common theme that has been brought up multiple times throughout this novel and plays a major role in understanding rational individualism, would be integrity. Where better to start medical ethics, than with the complex topic of euthanasia. The main idea of euthanasia goes against the oldest and most famous moral instructions in religion, Thou shalt not kill [Exodus 20:13]. Structural steel is able to maintain all of it characteristics and can be used to build just about anything. Not only do buildings being constructed today have recycled steel from old structures, but they can also contain material from old vehicles and appliances. • 37. What Makes Good People Do Bad Things By Susan Dittman Describing someone with the word evil refers to them committing an action that is considered immoral and malicious. Evil people pull off these type acts: robbing a bank, violent killings of living creatures, and even mental abuse through verbal or physical actions. Many people always wonder, what was the initial purpose of committing such inhumane actions? They may say hatred, anger, and revenge are some of the causes of evil. Although these traits do cause the idea of evil in an individual, the inspiration for iniquitous intents is in fact sprouted through the unideal human traits of apathy and ego. One of the human traits that cause evil is apathy; for it makes people not consider the other individuals feelings and security. Every ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another example is in fact in our society. In modern society, people tend to act as bystanders, people who don t pay attention to their surroundings. Take into the account of witnessing the scenarios of someone being bullied and a homeless man begging for money. In the bullying scenario, most of the time, the people acting like bystanders do nothing about the situation at hand. Typically, the right idea is to address the stakes at hand, whether calling for help or even putting oneself out there. Unfortunately, our society ignores the fact of another human is being verbally or physically abused. We tend to be in our own little worlds when we encounter an event such as bullying due to the fact we feel as if there isn t a way we can help. Instead of helping a fellow peer with a challenge, we re afraid to put ourselves out there. We refuse because we mainly care for our well being or we simply don t believe we have what it takes to fix the situation; this leads to the feeling of apathy. The homeless person scenario is no different. When a homeless person begs for money, the common courtesy is to of course contribute any amount of money towards the homeless man; however, this concept ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Symbolism In The Cask Of Amontillado By Edgar Allen Poe Edgar Allen Poe is known for the various literary devices he uses in his works. One of the most famous devices he uses is symbolism. In many of his stories, including The Masque of the Red Death, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Tell Tale Heart, and The Cask of Amontillado, Poe uses symbolism to further develop each story by the messages he writes between the lines. Symbolism is an important aspect of Poe s many works, seeing as how it allows the readers to make connections within the stories. In The Cask of Amontillado, Poe represents symbolism through the title of the short story, the outfit Fortunato wears, and the Montresor family motto and coat of arms. Many would not look to a title of a piece of literature for symbolism. In The Cask of Amontillado, Poe uses the key word cask as a huge symbol. The word cask refers to, a sturdy cylindrical container for storing liquids, such as Amontillado, a fine wine, in this case (Lorcher). Montresor introduces the topic of the wine to his former friend Fortunato by saying, My dear Fortunato, you are luckily met. How remarkably well you are looking to day. But I have received a pipe of what passes for Amontillado, and I have my doubts (Poe). Fortunato is extremely intoxicated from carnival festivities prior to his conversation with Montresor, so it is probable that his decision to go into the catacombs with Montresor is not for the benefit of anyone but himself. He sees this journey with Montresor as a way to acquire one of two possible outcomes free wine or a chance to further humiliate Montresor, especially after Montresor suggests that Fortunato is not capable of distinguishing the Amontillado and mentions the name of a rival, Luchresi (Lorcher). The symbolism in the key word of cask is that it has the same root as the word casket. Poe s use of symbolism in this regard is often overlooked and written off as mere coincidence, yet that is far from the truth. Fortunato s love of wine, and the ignorant and easily influenced state the wine puts him in, leads him to make some of his most destructive decisions to not only others, but also to himself. The Amontillado is a symbol of Fortunato s downfall, or in other words, the love he has for the cask ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I would begin with a geographic segmentation characteristic, focusing on individuals living in urban areas. The e cargo bike has extensive storage, and the ability to use the motor makes it easy to tow large loads without having to rely completely on manual peddling. This makes it a great alternative to using a car in large cities. Parking can be very expensive and inconvenient, so the e cargo bike could also save people a great deal of money, while offering the convenience of skipping the traffic. Not only can the bike tow physical cargo, it can also be used to tow children, as kids bike seats can be attached to the back. Making it a great option for parents who were not ready to give up city life and move to suburbia. The second segmentation characteristic I would focus on is psychographic, narrowing in on individuals who are very conscious of their environmental footprint. The Pedego Stretch e cargo bike uses a rechargeable lithium battery with Samsung cells. Not only is this a long lasting battery, it is a much more environmentally friendly option than burning fuel and releasing the exhaust into the air when driving a car. The battery should last between 2 4 years and offers a 3 year warranty, which is not only environmentally friendly, but also economical. You will not be putting a battery into a landfill each year, further reducing your carbon footprint. Another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Happy Accidents Of The Swing Analysis Some men would never commission a painting to idolize their mistress, however Baron de St. Julien felt as though he needed to immortalize his forbidden love in a painting and Jean Honore Fragonard was the only artist of the time to agree to this request. Jean Honore Fragonard s The Swing also known as The Happy Accidents of the Swing is a stupendous example of the Rococoera because of how dainty and light it was which is ironic because of its adulterous themes. How Fragonard portrayed St. Juliens vision made men of the Enlightenment uncomfortable and enraged with the artwork because it made men look immoral and foolish. Jean Honore Fragonard s claim to fame was The Swing, but who was he before he became prominent in the art community? He was born in Southern France, but as a child, him and his family moved to Paris. In Paris, he first started out as a clerk but soon garnered an interest in art and promptly switched over to a career in art. Specifically, he worked in the studio of Jean Siméon Chardin, where he most likely learned the basic properties of art, and later became the apprentice of François Boucher, where he learned the Rococo style.1 However, before he could become the apprentice of Boucher, Fragonard studied more advanced techniques in Italy and France because Boucher saw potential in him, but did not want someone who was so inexperienced under his wing. Karl Marx, Max Weber, and Emile Durkhiem all share a similar timeline when they were born, but even with that similarity these sociologists saw the world in vastly different scopes which influenced their theories. These contrasting values and theories show clearly in their work and has led to some of the most influential works within the field, hence their place as the sociological canon. It is interesting to see the contrasting nature between these very influential sociologists and will be the focus of this essay. While looking at the three sociologists who make up the sociological canon it is important to take into consideration how they view social order and social change. Karl Marx used his theory of social class in order to explain how society structured itself (Bratton, Denham 2014). Marx theorized that classes were relational, exploitive, and conflictive in nature. Marx explained social order, by way of the labour market and modes of production. His theories showed a pessimistic but realistic view of how the system abuses and takes advantage of the working class, and through strife the working class needed to empower themselves to grow and reach their potential. Emile Durkheim theorized about the division of labour, which was a written work that analyzed the relationship between social solidarity and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
