This document provides instructions for a personal position paper assignment. Students are asked to write a one page paper about themselves structured in four paragraphs. The first paragraph should introduce themselves and provide background information about their family. The second paragraph should describe their best memories and proudest achievements. The third paragraph should discuss where they live, their school, friends, and free time activities. The fourth paragraph should outline their future goals and plans. Students are instructed to include a thesis statement and at least five linking words, underlining the thesis and circling the linking words. Each paragraph should be 4-6 sentences long.

Personal Position Paper Activity
Due Monday/Tuesday Nov. 6/7
Instructions: Write a page-long paper about yourself, structured like a Global
Classrooms Position paper. Make sure you include a thesis and at least 5 linking words.
Underline your thesis and circle the linking words you use. Each paragraph should be 4-
6 sentences long. Write your essay on a clean, separate sheet of paper you can hand
in. (Because this is a long paper, I strongly suggest typing it!!)
Paragraph 1 - Introduction to Topic and Background Information:
Introduce yourself, give basic information (such as your age, your hometown, etc.) and
describe your family
Paragraph 2 - Past Action:
Describe your best memories and your proudest achievements so far
Paragraph 3 - Current Situation and Collaborations:
Write about where you live, your school, your friends and what you do in your
free time
Paragraph 4 - Future Actions:
What are your goals for the future? What do you hope to do when you are older
and why?
