Activities Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "Activities" can present both challenges and opportunities. On
one hand, the broadness of the subject allows for a wide range of personal experiences and
reflections to be incorporated. However, this very expansiveness can also make it challenging to
narrow down the focus and choose which activities to highlight.
The difficulty lies in striking a balance between showcasing one's diverse interests and ensuring
that the essay remains coherent and well-structured. The writer must carefully select activities
that not only reflect their passions but also contribute to a cohesive narrative that demonstrates
personal growth, skills development, or meaningful connections.
Additionally, crafting an engaging and memorable essay requires more than just listing activities.
It involves delving into the significance of each activity, the lessons learned, and the impact on
personal development. The challenge is to avoid turning the essay into a mere catalog of
achievements, but rather, to weave a compelling story that resonates with the reader.
Moreover, the essay should convey authenticity, giving the reader a genuine insight into the
writer's character and values. This authenticity can be difficult to achieve, as there may be a
temptation to present a curated version of oneself. Striking the right tone, avoiding clichГ©s,
and finding a unique angle are crucial aspects of overcoming this challenge.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Activities" demands a delicate balance between
showcasing diverse experiences and maintaining a coherent, meaningful narrative. It requires
thoughtful reflection, careful selection of activities, and the ability to convey authenticity. While
the task may be challenging, it also provides an opportunity for self-discovery and expression.

Persuasive Essay On Becoming A Navy
Title Ever thought of becoming a Navy SEAL? It is harder than one might think.
Just to get qualified for training, one has to excel in various areas of exercise.
Becoming a Navy SEAL is very challenging both physically and mentally. The
training to become a Navy SEAL is physically demanding and one has to push the
body past the breaking point. To get a Navy SEAL contract, one must score the
minimum requirements on the Navy SEAL Physical Screening Test which must be
issued by a qualified Naval Special Warfare coordinator. To increase one s chances
of being selected for BUD/S, receiving the optimum score on the PST would
certainly help. According to navyseals.com, To receive a SEAL contract, a candidate
must pass the SEAL PST. The PST includes swimming, push ups, sit ups, pull ups,
and running as areas of testing. In addition to getting optimum scores on the PST,

A trainee must take both physical and mental tests and make graphs while

work for their fellow soldiers and their country. While the training is very
challenging and very dangerous, brave men continue to serve in this line of work
to protect our amazing country in any way they can because they believe in this
country and they believe in freedom and liberty. Navy SEALs are some of the world
s strongest and bravest soldiers and to become one, a man must brave the cold, the
heat, physical exhaustion, mental strain, and many other things but they do it for us,
the citizens that call this fine country home and they do it so that we can sleep at
night without worrying about what warlord might storm our house and kill our

Archetypal Criticism of Blood Diamond
Through the movie Blood Diamond you can see many tragic events happening.
There is loss for some people and gain for others. The movie takes place during the
time of the civil war in Sierra Leone in 1999 (Synopsis for Blood Diamond). The
movie portrays the events that transpired between the government soldiers and rebel
forces. (Synopsis for Blood Diamond). As the Movie opens Solomon Vandy is taken
away from his family by RUF (the Revolutionary United Front). Among other
Solomon is set to work to find diamonds that will later be sold for a profit that
Solomon does not get to keep. Solomon hides the diamond inside the ground where
Captain Poison sees him and demands that Solomon hand it over. While this is
transpiring, the group gets attacked and Captain Poison gets sent to prison with
Solomon before he can get his hands on the Diamond (Synopsis of Blood
Diamond). The next main character to be introduced is Danny Archer who is
imprisoned for smuggling diamonds into Liberia. Danny gets Solomon released
from prison and the two make a deal that Solomon will help Danny find the
diamond on the condition that Solomon gets his family back. The two set out on
their journey and come across a journalist, Maddy Bowen who agrees to help
Solomon on his journey to find his family. During this time it becomes clear to
Maddy that Danny is only using Solomon to find the diamond and is planning to
steal it and she decides to not help Danny anymore (Synopsis of Blood Diamond). As

My Philosophy Of My Personal Philosophy In The
Classroom
All students are unique individuals, who have their own way of learning. Some
students, might find it easier to learn from hands on work rather than reading
materials. Others, may be capable of learning with just reading content. Since every
student learns differently, I believe there isn t just one philosophical way of how
students should be taught. I would incorporate a couple different philosophies and
teachingmechanisms into my classroom. I also believe that the environment a child
is in impacts the way they learn. Students should have a set of rules to follow, but
also be able to express what they think and feel just as well. My personal philosophy
is that there are numerous ways to teach children the materials they need to know.
Pragmatism is one philosophical theory I will follow in my classroom. Since, this
helps the development of practical knowledge, my students will be able to apply

The students will have an opportunity on the first day of class to come up with
some more they think should be followed. The rules will be as follows: Number
one, be on time for class. This will help them throughout life just as much as in the
classroom. No matter what, in life you must be on time for certain things. In a
workplace you have a schedule to follow. I believe implementing certain rules
early in life gives the opportunity for success and good work ethic. Number two will
be to complete all tasks in a timely manner. This sets them up for a good work ethic
also. If all tasks are completed on time for the whole class, I will reward them by
having a game day. Number three, no talking during tests. If students are talking
during a test, then that makes it hard to see if they need a different learning method to
catch on to the material. The class overall must follow all rules or there will be no
reward handed
Use Of Dramatic Irony In The Odyssey
In Homer s epic, The Odyssey, Homer deliberately uses dramatic irony to convey his
message to his audience and reader. Dramatic irony is when the character does not
realize the reality or truth of a situation and the audience does because the author has
presented clues to the audience. In the episode, Meeting of Father and Son , Homer
uses dramatic ironyin order for his audience to feel suspense and infer the
significant meaning of his text. Homers audience was the people of ancient Greece
who were actively listening to his great epic. In addition to this, the speaker of the
episode could use this dramatic irony to entertain their audience. By using dramatic
irony it allows the audience to have an active role and to fully understand the reality
Tale Of Two Cities Sacrifice
Sacrifices Must Be Made for Love and Happiness
A Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens, is a suspenseful novel taking place before
and during the French Revolution in the late 1700s. The audience is taken on a
journey through time, learning about how the Revolution affected two main families,
the Manettes and the EvrГ©mondes. Throughout the novel, Dickens makes the
reader question what drives man kind to sacrifice? The answer is love and happiness
result in sacrifices. The characters, such as Charles Darnay, Doctor Manette, and
Sydney Carton prove this as they commit sacrifices to start a new life, for a loved
one, or for the benefit of other people.

Earlier in the novel, when Carton confesses his love to Lucie, he states, And when
you see your own bright beauty springing up anew at your feet, think now and then
that there is a man who would give his life, to keep a life you love beside you
(117). His word is tested later in the end of the novel. Darnay is sentenced for
execution, but Carton would not allow for Lucie to loose the life she loves (117).
Carton trickes Darnay into switching places and eventually, Carton is executed in
Darnay s place, without any of the Revolutionists realizing. Indeed, he is willing to
give up his own life, a life Lucie could never love the way she loves Darnay, so she
and Darnay could stay together. Besides sacrificing his life for Lucie s husband,
Sydney also sacrifices his life because he believes the people of the city would
benefit from it. Carton states during his last moments of life, I see a beautiful city
and a brilliant people rising from this abyss, and, in their struggles to be truly free, in
their triumphs and defeats, through long years to come, I see the evil of this time and
of the previous time of which this is the natural birth, gradually making expiation for
itself and wearing out (292). Carton explains how he thinks the Revolution will end
since the revolutionist have achieved their goal of killing the last EvrГ©monde.
The 1918 Pandemic Analysis
The 1918 pandemic instilled the notion that influenza was closely associated with
war, with some scientists even explicitly referring to it as a war disease, because of
the considerable impact it had on armed services personnel. Government officials
convinced that influenza would appear with the outbreak of World War II, established
the Commission on Influenzaof the United States Army Epidemiological Board to
provide technical advice and commence work on an effective vaccine. The heightened
political attention to the threat of infectious diseases prompted the passage of new
legislation that grants governments extended powers intervention (and ownership) by
central governments in health care services, and resulted in millions of dollars worth
Hsieh Zappos Hiring Process
The ninth value is to be passionate and determined. Hsieh s belief in the concept of
Zappos is what fueled his determination to keep the company afloat. We are
inspired because we believe in what we are doing and where we are going. (Hsieh,
p. 181). Hsieh refused to take no for an answer and that is attributable to Zappos
success. This is a key criterion in the Zappos hiring process. If a candidate doesn t
seem passionate about possibly working for Zappos, they won t fit in with the
culture. Being around co workers with a positive, but realistic, attitude makes coming
to work enjoyable. The final value asks employees to remain humble; another value
considered in the hiring process. Zappos has turned down many candidates for
employment that boastfully spoke of individual accomplishments instead of giving
credit to their team. The Zappos culture requires employees to take a modest
approach to customer service; constantly obsessing over the customer s needs. As
aforementioned, building relationships is key to the Zappos brand. In order to build
strong relationships, employees must treat everyone with respect.... Show more

The values are structures in a way so that each value flows into the next. At
Zappos, they strive to merge an employee s professional life with their personal

culture, but they provide a pretty decent list of personal values too. This follows

The character that turns in Heart of Darkness is Kurtz. He is the best ivory trader in
the Company and the commanding officer of a trading station in Africa. Throughout
the novel, people describe Kurtz as a charismatic, inspiring, and talented individual.

his office, he says, Then I noticed a small sketch in oils, on a panel, representing a

Simone De Beauvoir And Frantz Fanon
Simone de Beauvoir and Frantz Fanon were both interested in the experiences of
marginalized groups, women and black men respectively. In The Second Sex, De
Beauvoir discusses the history of domination women have experienced at the hands
of the superior group, men. In Black Skin, White Masks, Fanon explains and
analyzes the experiences of black men in the wake of colonialism and up to modern
times. Both authors not only address the ways in which women and black men are
dominated by others, but also the ways in which the oppressed group participates,
often unknowingly, in the systems of their own domination. According to De
Beauvoir, women participate in their own domination by embracing the benefits
given to them by men, by fulfilling expectations... Show more content on

From birth, girls are taught that they are to act a certain way, and when they become
women, they perpetuate these norms by fulfilling them. We are exhorted to be
women, remain women, become women... , De Beauvoir writes, ...it would appear,
then, that every female human being is not necessarily a woman; to be so
considered she must share in that mysterious and threatened reality known as
femininity . This femininity makes a female person a woman. For example, [a
woman] must become a passive thing, a promise of submission and, conversely, if [a
woman] is proud and demanding, woman meets the male as an adversary and is
decidedly not feminine. Shut up in her flesh, her home, she sees herself as passive
before these gods with human faces who set goals and establish values , and this
acceptance and participation in traditional femininity perpetuates societal beliefs that
women, or at least acceptable women, are inferior naturally. By doing this, women
participate in the continuation of their domination by men, who society believes are
more naturally suited for superiority. Furthermore, The woman that does not conform
devalues herself sexually, and hence socially, since sexual values are an integral
feature of society . This quote shows that, according to De Beauvoir, women have

Sexual Offenders And The Law
Sexual Offenders and the Law

10 June 9, 2015 Sexual Offenders and the Law Sexual offender registry is a deeply
emotional and intuitive issue. The issue has captured the support of the politicians
and the community, but the upsurge of outwardly automatic public support has
enabled and encouraged the legislators to move to fast very quickly. The
representatives latched onto this issue because it is a political strategy for
accumulating votes. Sexual offender laws are essential, but the prevalent indication
demonstrates that the conjecture surrounding sex offenders are principally incorrect.
The legislation regarding sexual offender laws should be changed in some cases

The question one must ask themselves is What are the chances of recidivism rates on
sexual offenders compared to supplementary crimes ? In addition, should sexual
registration laws be changed?
Sex offender registration in the United States began with the Jacob Wetterling
Crimes against Children and Sexually Violent Offender Registration Act, passed
by Congress in 1994. Since then, every states has indorsed some practice of sex
offender registry and public reporting system. At present, researchers have
determined that Sex Laws are undeserved and unproductive . If the social order
wants to keep their children safe from real sex offenders, we need to do away with
our existing sex offender registries and absolutely rethink the way we outline and
punish sexual offences in this country. Currently, a substantial proportion of those
people listed in sex offender registries pose almost no threat to children, making it
challenging for us to know who really does pose a threat to our children and what
we should do about them. As a nation, we have foolishly concluded that all sex
crimes are the same. While sex offender registry laws vary from state to state. The
problem is simple because the law says that two teens caught engaging in consensual
oral sex in high school belong on the same list as a child rapist. This notion is
ridiculous. This concept leaves
Human Gut Microbiome
The relationship between the human gut microbiome to health and disease is strong.
Human physiology, metabolism, nutrition, and immune function are all affected by
the composition of the gut. If the composition of the gut microbiome is altered in a
way that any of these functions are negatively affected, this can lead to disease. The
developments of the microbiome, its complexity, and its functionality in health and
disease have been extensively studied. In addition, the way in which it is altered has
many implications in the cause of diseases, such as bowel disease, obesity, diabetes
and cancer. A healthy adult has over 1000 species of bacteriaresiding in the gut (1).
There is great diversity in genera of these bacteria, however the most... Show more

Dietary fiber is a source of carbohydrate that has benefits for intestinal health. It plays
a role in the prevention of disease in the intestine and even throughout the body, such
as obesity, type II diabetes, and cardiovascular disease (10). Furthermore, when the
bacteria in the gut ferment the fiber, metabolites are produced, which benefit the
body. Short chain fatty acids are one major end product of this carbohydrate
metabolism, which act to lower the colon s pH, inhibiting pathogenic bacteria from
growing. Some other metabolites include lactate, succinate and formate. Lactate is
converted to butyrate by the bacteria in the gut, which induces mucin synthesis,
which is a glycoprotein that maintains the gut epithelium integrity. Butyrate also acts
to prevent bacterial transport across the epithelium and increases tight junction
assembly (11). What this means, is that the fermentation of fiber allows these
beneficial metabolites to be produced, causing a cascade of reactions that promote
health and gut integrity. This shows the complex beneficial interaction between gut
microbiota and fiber intake and its role in promoting health. Gut microbiota
composition has also been seen to play a role in glycemic levels, particularly in
children with type 1 diabetes. When butyrate and propionate (short chain fatty acids)
are produced by the gut microbiota, they have been shown to regulate gut hormone
levels, such as
Realism In Stephen King s The Boogeyman
Stephen King s short story The Boogeyman is a thrilling adventure that
incorporates an urban legend that has many names throughout the world, and
therefore makes any reader able to identify with this story. It pulls you in, making
you question whether the stories your parents, cousins, or siblings you had finally
deemed as unrealistic and fake were fictional at all. Why is King s story so eerie?
Is it the realism in the story, or the fact that the creature being described may have
always been a small weakness for you? The scientific article The Bogeymanin which
we are explained the origin and purpose for the monster may have the answers to
these questions. After all, how probable is it that an unidentified creature will
happen to appear in sight tonight? In the scientific article, it is explained that the
purpose of the boogeyman is to frighten people in order for them to fit the norm in
society. King s article also uses the boogeyman in order to frighten people, but does
it so that the man, Lester Billings seems crazed, and yet in a sense, believable. For
example, in the short story, Billings is present in a psychiatrist s office and is telling
his story to the therapist. This plays into the realism within the story, as many people
have therapists and believe in supernatural forces such as: ghosts, vampires, demons,
etc (not everyone goes to therapy for these reasons, but it is safe to assume some
people do suffer from paranoia within this particular topic). The

ORIENTATION AND CONTEXT
Significance of Text The theme of this text seems to be centered on the cost of
following Christ. God wants everybody; but with regards to discipleship, He wants
only those willing and able. Jesus knows the hearts of those following Him and it is
not the number of people He is concerned with, but the volume of their hearts. ?The
audience has shifted from the Pharisees and dinner guests of 14:1 24 to the large
crowds of people who were traveling with Jesus. Apparently Jesus has resumed his
journey toward Jerusalem (9:51) and now will address the crowds? (Evans 228). He
is on His final walk, a journey that will lead Him to a cross. This crowd is not ready.

requires self denial. The cross was the most painful and humiliating form of
execution of the Roman era. Thus, to take up one?s cross daily is to expect painful
situations every day because of allegiance to Christ? (1?Luke? 1755). We are to
understand that being a disciple of Christ we will have our character tested. We
must be willing to give up everything to follow, and love Him above all others.
Even our own lives are to be a sacrifice for His service. We are to not be ?ostriches?
with our heads in the sand but with open eyes, minds and hearts weigh the cost,
and decide if we are able to follow. Are we able to stand against our enemies, (His
enemies)? Are we strong enough, brave enough, and faithful enough to be counted
worthy? If we are not, are we willing to sacrifice it all to become what He requires?
Discipleship requires service, study, and sacrifice. Surrendering our will to His is
often the hardest challenge/obstacle to true discipleship. Our service to Him
requires action and diligence to sharing both our skills, resources and time. Study
of His word means that we take the time to investigate, memorize and understand
what His word says and how it applies to our lives. Sacrifice is the final key to
unlocking all that God has in store for us both in this life and in heaven. Willingly
laying everything aside to follow Him despite what others
Contributions Of Horace Mann
Known as The Father of American Education, Horace Mann is listed in Atlantic
Magazine as one of the 100 Most Influential Figures in American History. Although
modern education in America has strayed from the original principles Horace Mann
established during the creation of the common school, his multitude of contributions
towards American public educationmarks him as worthy of this distinction.
Horace Mann was born May 4th, 1796 in Franklin, Massachusetts. Franklin was a
small town with a strong religious community and, consequently, much of Mann s
early education on morality was derived from sermons at the meetinghouse, although
he frequently disagreed with the teachings of Pastor Nathaniel Emmons. Formal
schooling in Franklin consisted of 6 7 weeks out of the year of substandard
instruction, held in a one room schoolhouse; Mann was dissatisfied with this two
prong approach to education and only thrived academically due to his devotion to
teach himself. Instead of continuing life on the farm, Mann decided to seek higher
education away from his home and family. After a series of strenuous admission
exams, he entered Brown University with sophomore standing. However, the
education provided by Brown University only taught Horace Mann how to excel in
form and not thought; both his essays and arguments were incredibly well crafted but
lacked substance and hard facts. However, he managed to graduate from Brown
University in 1819 in high esteem as both valedictorian and

Safety of Amalgam Fillings
What is Dental Amalgam (Silver Fillings)? Most people recognize dental amalgams
as silver fillings. Dental amalgam is a mixture of mercury, silver, tin and copper.
Mercury, which makes up about 50 percent of the compound, is used to bind the
metals together and to provide a strong, hard, durable filling. After years of research,
mercury has been found to be the only element that will bind these metals together in
such a way that can be easily manipulated into a tooth cavity. Is mercury in dental
amalgam safe? Mercury in dental amalgam is not poisonous. When mercury is
combined with other materials in dental amalgam, its chemical nature changes, so
it is essentially harmless. The amount of mercury released in the mouth under the
pressure of chewing and grinding is extremely small and no cause for alarm. In
fact, the amount is less than what patients are exposed to in food, air and water.
Ongoing scientific studies conducted over the past 100 years continue to prove
that amalgam is not harmful. Claims of diseases caused by mercury in amalgam
are anecdotal, as are claims of miraculous cures achieved by removing amalgam.
These claims have not been proven scientifically. Why do dentists use dental
amalgam? Dental amalgam has withstood the test of time, which is why it is the
material of choice. It has a 150 year proven track record and is still one of the safest,
most durable and least expensive

Medal of Honor
The Congressional Medal of Honour
The Medal of Honour is the highest military decoration awarded by the United
States government. It is given to a member of the United States armed forces who
distinguishes himself conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life
above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in an action against an enemy of the
United States .
Because of the nature of its criteria, the medal is often awarded posthumously.
Members of all branches of the U.S. military are eligible to receive the medal, and
each service has a unique design with the exception of the Marine Corps and Coast
Guard, which both use the Navy s medal. The Medal of Honour is often presented

The Coast Guard Medal of Honour, which was distinguished from the Navy medal
in 1963, has never been awarded, partly because the U.S. Coast Guard is subsumed
into the U.S. Navy in time of declared war. No design yet exists for it. Only one
member of the Coast Guard has received a Medal of Honour, Signalman 1st Class
Douglas Munro, who was awarded the Navy version for action during the Battle of
Guadalcanal. In the rare cases, 19 so far, where a service member has been awarded
more than one Medal of Honour, current regulations specify that an appropriate
award device be cantered on the Medal of Honour ribbon and neck medal.
To indicate multiple presentations of the Medal of Honour, the U.S. Army and

Nature Vs Nurture Research Paper
Nature vs Nurture debate is the representation that society is an organism, but the
question is do we inherently possess the knowledge to function as an organism, or
are we taught this skill. The debate over Nature vs Nurture is more of a struggle
about which theory is the correct theory in my opinion. Social behaviors can be
the product of both genetics as well as an influence by our environment. Nature is
of the belief that inherited traits found in our genes make us who we are. From the
day we are born, we are subject to society, which play an important role in who we
are by way of family, friends, and media. Any situation we are subject to has an
impact on us. I remember my parents scrutinizing my older brothers about the friends

My father always told them that you could begin to act like those you hang around
with, whether good or bad. In other words, our peers easily influence us. I can
remember this from a very early age, even growing up in the same household,
attending the same school and church, etc. our values and standards are quite
different from one another. Even in the animal kingdom, genetics is evident. I was
watching a nature video by David Attenborough about birds. The video showed
how different species laid their eggs. The cuckoo bird would lay her eggs in the
nests of unlike species. As the baby cuckoo bird cracked its shell, even before it
was able to see, it would immediately begin pushing all the other eggs out of the
nest in order to be the only bird fed by its adoptive mother. This is not a case of
something learned, as much as it is instinctive. Having said that, I believe who we
are as human beings is the combination of both nature and nurture that our genes and
environment work together. I believe certain traits and abilities are inherited,
however I also believe social structure plays a most active role in who we become and

Essay about Egt1 Task 1
Marginal Analysis
Economics amp; Global Business Applications, EGT 1, Task 1
A. Explanation of profit maximization
The total revenue, TR, is the overall amount of all sources of a business s income.
It consists of total sales or profit, over a period of time. The TR can be calculated by
taking the price and multiplying it by the quantity. For example, if a business decides
to retail another product and the total revenue does increase, thus the marginal
revenue would be greater than zero. However, if the business decides to sell another
product and the marginal revenue is zero, then there would not be any changes to the
total revenue.
To determine profit maximization, using the Total Revenue to Total Costapproach,
consider the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This increase in widgets will provide Company A with a MR of $140 dollars per
widget. In addition, applying the same formula to the maximum of 15 widgets
produced ($1200 150/15) also results in a MR of $70 per widget. In the provided
scenario, Company A has experienced decreasing MR for every one more widget
they produce.
C. Calculation used to determine Marginal Cost
In comparison, the marginal cost is the added cost of producing one more unit of
output. It is determined by the change in total cost (TC) divided by the change in
output (Q). MC= TC/Q. In the provided scenario, for Company A to produce one
widget TC=$30, to produce two widgets TC=$50 thus the marginal cost was $20;
furthermore the cost per widget to produce was $25. Marginal cost will continue
to decrease for Company A until they reach their profit maximization of $42.86 per
widget at 7 widgets. Marginal cost will then begin to decrease for every additional
widget produced until the end result of 15 widgets with a MC that exceeds $80, also
allowing TC to topple to TR ($1220/15=$81.33).
D. Company A profit maximization Quantity| Total Revenue| Total Cost| 7| $840|

Company A reaches its greatest profit maximization with a Quantity of 8 because the
total revenue is at the greatest distance from total cost. (TFC+TVC=TC); Price x

Cyber Secuirty and Cyber Crime
Cyber Crime and Security
Cybercrime or electronic crime generally refers to criminal activity where a
computer or network is the source, tool, target, or place of a crime. These categories
are not exclusive and many activities can be characterized as falling in one or more
category. Additionally, although the terms computercrime and cybercrime are more
properly restricted to describing criminal activity in which the computer or network is
a necessary part of the crime, these terms are also sometimes used to include
traditional crimes, such as fraud, theft, blackmail, forgery, and embezzlement, in
which computers or networks are used to facilitate the illicit activity. So basically it is
a criminal activity committed on the internet. This ... Show more content on

8. Logic bombs These are event dependent programs. This implies that these
programs are created to do something only when a certain event (known as a trigger
event) occurs. E.g. even some viruses may be termed logic bombs because they lie
dormant all through the year and become active only on a particular date (like the
Chernobyl virus).
9. Trojan attacks This term has its origin in the word Trojan horse . In software field
this means an unauthorized programme, which passively gains control over another s
system by representing itself as an authorised programme. The most common form of
installing a Trojan is through e mail. E.g. a Trojan was installed in the computer of a
lady film director in the U.S. while chatting. The cyber criminal through the web cam
installed in the computer obtained her nude photographs. He further harassed this
lady.

Abstract
This study presents a power management system (PMS) for a hybrid renewable
energy system (HRES) using hydrogen as an energy vector. The fuzzy control system
takes into account the uncertainties of the load demand and the power production
from renewable energy sources (RES). The fuzzy control system evaluated differs
of the traditional PMSs, as it considers a single level prediction of the DC net power
and its uncertainty from of HRES allowing a suitable decision that increases the
lifetime of the fuel cell electrolyzer and
Modernist Movement In Architecture
The influence of a building on the identity and emotion of a place is not something
an architect or developer can impose onto a people. It is created in a course of time.
This is why most buildings have made it in the history books, not only because the
intention was meant, but also because they were able to bring different reflections to
a people they were built for.
Architecture refers to the production of objects, buildings, a task performed by the
people. The most successful architecture goes beyond functions, enclosure, or rather a
big envelope for living.
Even though the buildings as an individual exhibit different architectural properties,
collectively they have been able to tell a common story with respect to their design,
construction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no consensus among Architectural Scholars about an exact and
comprehensive definition of the term Modern Architecture also referred to as
Modernist Movement. With some Authors Modern Movement is considered to mean
social and aesthetic innovation using state of the art technology and rejecting the
values of continuity and traditions or rather to shape the present and the now.
Another common feature the buildings shared was the use of latest technological
advances during their time of construction. Most of the buildings were constructed at
a time when reinforced concrete was discovered and with reinforced concrete, they
were built. Some were constructed during the time curtain walls were put to use in
construction and curtain walls were certainly installed in the buildings.
When a building is set to be constructed, the design team which is led by the
architect plans for how the spaces of the building would be (in terms of their location,
size and functionality). After this initial planning is done, the design is then
presented to the client of whom he or she would agree or disagree. In most cases, the
client usually has a few rectifications and the design team usually rectifies them
before the project is being tendered for construction. After tendering, the contractor
begins to construct the building project with accordance to the drawings provided to
him by the design
The Political Of Political Science Essay
Introduction:
According to Aristotle Man is by nature a political animal and he only by nature and
by mere accident is without state is either above humanity or below it
Political science is ultimately related with the word politics which is derived from
the Greek word Polis .The origin of political thought in the west and therefore goes
back to the Greece.Political science is the study of the state and the government. And
political philosophy is considersd to be a sub discipline of political science. However
it is a political theory,a discipline which has a closer methodology to the theoretical
fields in the social sciences. So,political philosophy is the study of topics such as
politics, liberty, justice, rights, property, law and the enforcement of a legal code by
authority.(Agarwal,2013)
In short political philosophy is the activity with all the philosophers such as
Plato,Aristotle,Machiavelli,KarlMarx,JohnHobbes,Locke,Rousseau whereby the
conceptual apparatus behind such concepts as afore mentioned are analysed in their
history, intent and evaluation.Political philosophy has been practiced for as long as
human beings have regarded their collective arrngements no as immutable and part
of the natural oder but as potentially open to changes and therefore as standing in
need of political justification. It can be found in many different cultures and has
taken a wide variety of forms. There are two reasons for these diversity.First the

Students Hail End Of Banning Cell Phones In Schools
Across America students are starting to complete assignments all on their phones
instead of the traditional computer or paper. The question is, is it appropriate to
use cell phones in school, or not? Schools across America are split between
allowing cell phones in school or banning them. Co writer of the article Students
Hail End of Cellphone Ban states: Our challenge is to make sure students
understand that this is a privilege and not a God given right She said. They use it
properly or else ( Brody 2). In the past years, cell phones have become prevalent
among nearly every teenager, and they need them to do work. In this day and age it
seems almost necessary to have one. Cell phone use in a school setting has emerged

In the article Is Your Smartphone Hurting Your GPA? , author Nara Schoenberg
states: In 2011, researchers at California State University reported that students
who received a higher number of text messages during a video recorded lecture
scored worse on a quiz than those who received or sent few or no text messages
(Schoenberg 2). This argument is inappropriately biased because it didn t specify
or include information about using the cell phones for schoolwork. It only
displayed why they shouldn t be used in a no use zone. Schools that allow the use
of cell phones for work have different effects on students than rules that don t allow
the use of them at all. Had the study been carried out between two groups of
students, one that was allowed to use their phones for research and one group that
couldn t, the opposition may have a more grounded argument. However, one can
see that this opinion has a weak argument because of the lack of information
displayed. Overall, cellphones should be allowed in school for academic use
because teenagers use them daily. It would work to the advantage of both the
students and the teachers to incorporate cell phones with school work. Education will
only continue to evolve as the years go on, and it is essential that technology is
incorporated along with
Strength Of Hostage Negotiation
One of my main strength that I have as they relate to hostage negotiation is being
able to stay calm. Being able to stay calm in stressful situation is a great quality to
have, especially in hostage negotiations where lives are at stake. One way I could
improve this quality is by taking slower breaths. In stressful situation breathing slow
and calmly is key to staying calm. The faster your respiration is the more anxietyyou
feel and in very stressful situations that anxiety can turn into panic. By taking slower
breaths you helps negate the flight or fight effect and helps to keep us calm. A
quality that I consider to be a weakness of mine when it comes to hostage negotiation
is my patience. Having the patience when a hostage negotiation is

Hinge s new matchmaking app is kind of weird

The online dating world just got a little more weird and interesting. Hinge is a dating
app, one of many that are out there, but that s not what s making headlines. What s
making headlines is Hinge s new app, which is called Hinge Matchmaker.
What is Hinge Matchmaker?
Hinge Matchmaker is a separate Hinge app. It essentially allows you to match up
your friends for a date. You download the Matchmaker app, and then see which of
your friends are on Hinge. You can then match friends together, and they ll get a
message saying that you think the two of them would be good together. If one of
your friends isn t on Hinge that you think would connect with another one of your

For some the allure of Hinge Matchmaker is twofold: you can feel like you re part of
the dating game again, and you can get into your friend s business by helping him or
her find love.
( removed HTML )
What are the downsides about this app?
The app is weird though because some friends, one would assume, don t want your
opinion or your help in finding someone to date. It can also cause some friction in
friendships. What if your friend selects someone for you and you don t like him or
her, and don t even give him or her a chance? Or what if you start dating the friend
of your friend and then you guys break up. Does that make it hard on your friend or
put a strain on your relationship? There are so many potential pitfalls with this app
that could just spell disaster for your friendship.
( removed HTML )
Is the app here to stay?
Currently, the app is in beta testing, and it s only going to be available for a little
while (at least that s the current information). It s available on iOS. We ll have to
see if it takes off or if too many people find it weird.

The Bergen-Belsen Camp
There were about 900 concentration camps created by Nazi s throughout the course
of 1933 1945. The main ones were Auschwitz, Bergen Belson, Dachau, Sobibor,
Treblinka, Theresienstadt, Buchenwald. The Auschwitz camp complex was the
largest concentration camp. It included three main camps. 1,095,000 Jewswere in
Auschwitz between 1940 and 1945, and 960,000 of them were killed. The Germans
isolated all the camps and sub camps from the outside world and surrounded them
with barbed wire fencing. All contact with the outside world was forbidden.
Auschwitz could hold more than 150,000 inmates at any given time. It was
established by the Nazi s in 1940 and was in use until its Allied liberation in 1945.

Safe Childbirth
Childbirth is oftentimes described as the miracle of life . It is typically a time of
immense pride and joy; many claim the birth of their offspring was the best day of
their lives. Unfortunately, however, this exuberant experience is not a memory to
be fond of for hundreds of thousands of women in developing countries. Liberia is a
prime example of how grim the reality truly is. According to Yulia Widiati from
Unicef, Liberias maternal mortality ratio is one of the highest in the world, with
1,072 maternal deaths for every 100,000 births (ADD CITATION). This doesn t even
include the hundreds of infantdeaths that take place every year as well, just the
mothers. These numbers are excessively high when considering how far modern
medicine and science has come.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The root of the problem lies in paucity of education and supplies. Young girls need
to be educated on safe sex practices, and women need to be sufficiently
knowledgeable on how to properly deliver and care for a baby. This means before,
after, and during the birth. In addition to this, it s almost impossible to create a safe
childbearing environment without specific medical supplies and equipment.
Thankfully, with new leadership in the country the numbers are gradually beginning
to decline. Be that as it may, the path to correct this issue is still long and rocky; they
need our help. In order to further mitigate the high numbers of maternal and infant
deaths in developing countries, we need to donate not only supplies, but our time as
well. We need to send volunteers with donations and plans to educate women and
young girls on pregnancy, delivery, and safe

Examples Of Diction In Beowulf
Beowulf speaks volumes about the ways of life during the Anglo Saxon period. It is
to England what Homer s Odyssey and Iliad are to Greece. It is, as some call it, the
mother poem of England. This mother poem has been passed down through oral
tradition for numerous years and scholars believe that an educated Christian monk
transcribed the poem, preserving it in written form. Beowulfhas survived for nearly
1,300 years due to how well it conveys the Anglo Saxon culture and the unique
characteristics of the poem in its imagery, tone, style and diction. This epic poem
depicts picturesque imagery of various kinds. It is acutely gruesome in many
instances, such as the battle with Grendel and the description of hell s captive and his
mother. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With much alliteration, imaginative kennings, and caesura. The narrator uses
strong alliteration and does so quite intricately, using single, double and triple
alliterations at points throughout the poem; such as in lines 30 32, Then, when
darkness had dropped, Grendel / Went up to Herot, wondering what the warriors
/ Would do in that hall when their drinking was done. (L. 30 32) The narrator
frequently uses kennings in this poem. A kenning in Anglo Saxon literature is a
metaphorical phrase or compound word that names an event, person, place, or
thing indirectly. There are four different types of kennings that the narrator uses
within Beowulf which are prepositional phrase (ex. shepherd of evil = Grendel,
guardian of crime = Grendel), hyphenated compound (ex. sea road = the ocean,
ring giver = king), possessive (ex. God s bright beacon = the sun), and open
compound (ex. wakeful sleeper = Beowulf) kennings. A unique quality of the style
of Beowulf is caesura, which is seen in nearly every line within the poem. Caesura is
a characteristic of Old English poetry; it is a pause or a break within a line of poetry
and it is usually indicated by the natural rhythm of the language. Alliteration coincides
with caesura; usually the first stressed syllable before the caesura alliterates with the
first stressed syllable after the
An Analysis Of Frank Lloyd Wright On Architecture, And...
In life, there are things that happen to us; all of us or some of us that are beyond
comprehension and that leave a lasting impact into our lives. Some of the things are
a glimpse of what the future could imply to us and form a platform from which
important things will be built. In the last few centuries, the dancing industry in the
world had not been considered as an important art, and therefore, dancing was
basically done informally for entertaining oneself or for layman s reasons. That was
until a girl was born at the end of the of the 18th century, a girl who would grow into
prominence as far as dancing was concerned; revolutionizing the danceworld and
setting new platforms through which modern dancewould be established. Her
influence on the dance and choreography would last for over seven decades, and her
influence has been reminiscent to that of Picasso on the modern visual arts, Frank
Lloyd Wright on architecture, and Stravinsky on music. The name of this girl who
went from heights to heights and established the modern dancing and choreography
in the world was Martha Graham.
Martha Graham was an American dancer and choreographer, born in the city of
Allegheny, which would later become part of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. However,
when Martha turned fourteen years old, her family moved to Santa Barbara,
California. Her father was an alienist, a practitioner of an early form of psychiatry, or

Dual Perspective Analysis
1.Something I learned in this course is that I always seem to find myself in dual
perspective. I actually did not know there was even a word for this, because as the
textbook stated is appears to be innate in humans. However, I have encountered
others who think with a closed mind or egocentrically and I find it to be very
damaging to their interpersonal relationships, and a drag of someone to talk to.
When I engage in dual perspective I am learning from my point of view, but also
from someone else s point of view. They too are showing me how and why to
understand something in a different light.

When using generalizations in discussion with one another I do believe it gives us
both many opportunities and many limitations. One opportunity is that we can use
generalizations in conversation with the generalized other and with the particular
other. When communicating with the particular other I find myself questioning
generalizations much more often because I care and it is my job as a loved one to
make sure I am communicating effectively, and that is hard to do using
generalizations. However, at the same time we can have a subjective or unclear
conversation and still fill fulfilled from the conversation in some aspect because we
got to interact with one another. When communicating with the generalized other, we
can use generalizations just to start or keep the conversation going. Another benefit to
generalizations is that you can find almost anybody to talk to, given you know them
somewhat, and form a better relationship through conversation. This may be
stereotyping, but I feel as if that is how we identify who we may become interested in
or become friends with. However, generalizations do have their limitations. When we
generalize someone else s communication we are not getting the full story and that
can lead to misunderstandings in future conversations and even misunderstandings of
who they are. Moreover, our culture, race, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic
class and so forth determine much of whom we are and what our thought process and
communication style is like. So when we are talking to someone of a different
background we may be using these instant generalizations, but shouldn t because this
is an opportunity to learn from and understand one another. Generalizations assume
that we all think and communicate the same way and that is very much false and the
less we generalize the more we learn about the world around
Information Systems And The Business School
Introduction
Why is introduction MIS the most important class in the business school?
Management information systems is known as one of the most important class in the
business school because it helps you to success in order, function and efficiency. The
interesting part about information systems is that always will give you The
background you need to assess, evaluate, and apply emerging information systems
technology to business. Also, it offers in job security marketable skills whereas you
will get knowledge in abstraction, systems thinking, experimentation and
collaboration. Furthermore, Management Information Systems (MIS) not only is
based on software systems, but also includes set of business processes and useful
resources that work to put the information together from tactical systems. The entire
system is designed to the company to get tactical goals and meet strategies.
Basically, the role of any MIS organization could be compared with the heart of a
body. This means that information is the blood and MIS is the heart. For a good
function of the body should be flow pure blood, because it will help to regulate
correctly the brain. MIS has the same role in any organization, all information is
collected from distinct sources to all needed destinations. Additionally, MIS plays a
particular role of information generation, problem identification and communication
because all of this help to improve and take right the decision making.

Bernadette visited the cave often to see the vision. The vision told Bernadette to
build a church here knowing that Lourdes would soon become a place of pilgrimage.
The vision also knew it would bring a great impact when meditating there because
Christians may feel as an important church like they do the Church of England.
The last thing the vision probably told Bernadette was to push away a rock where a
small puddle lay and suddenly a spring formed.
The story is the main reason why Christians go to Lourdes.
The amount of people that were in Lourdes was amazing. There was people in

of them were holding signs saying where they had travelled from.
I joined in the daily procession and enjoyed every moment. We all held lit candles

Time For Recess
Many students wish that there would be a time for recess in middle school. I think
there should be a set time for recess. I think there should be one because it would
help kids to get their energy out, and would also give the teachers a break from
teaching. The first reason why there should be a scheduled time for recess is
because lots of kids have a lot of energy and are very loud and disruptive in class.
Recess would help them to get their energy out and to pay attention in class. Also,
it would help them to be in better shape and not be full of energy all of the time.
Almost any teacher has students that disrupt their class on a daily basis and having
a recess could help with that. Also kids would probably be happier if they got to go
Argumentative Statement On Flag Burning
In a cosmopolitan nation full of diversity like the United States, conflicts are bound
to arise between cultures and races with different views. However, in order to
maintain the diversity, people must be willing to understand and accept others
opinions. This ideal has been tested by citizens in the US in many conflicts as people
mistreat others. People exclude or mistreat others who are different, but should accept
them for the good of society as long as violence doesn t break out.
The accepting of differences will strengthen the community and help everyone keep
an open mind. From Texas v. JohnsonMajority Opinion , William J. Brennan explains
the statement that justifies flag burning, and, though controversial, finding closure
for this matter: Our decision is a reaffirmation of the principles of freedom and
inclusiveness that the flag reflects, and of the conviction that our toleration of
criticism is our sign and source of our strength (Brennan 16). Brennan explains that
though many are concerned with the idea that flag burning is legal and take action
against it, they should take the other route instead. That is to say, to uphold the ideals
the US Constitution promises, people must tolerate flag burning as it is a form of
communication towards society. In addition, people have the obligation to influence
and convince those protesters to reevaluate their actions and errors. Brennan s
statement portrays that even though a problem can attract controversy, it is
Plastic Bags Do Not Biodegrades
By going to a website called, postconsumer.com, I found out that, Plastic bags don t
biodegrade, they photodegrade breaking down into smaller and smaller toxic bits
contaminating soil and waterways. They then enter the food web when animals
accidentally ingest them, ( admin, para.8 ). In case you didn t know, the meaning of
biodegrade is to decay and to become absorbed by the environment, while
photodegrade is to be decomposed by the action of light, especially sun light.
Plastic bags are very common in grocery stores. Sure they help us carry items, but
plastic bags can do a lot of harm to the environment and to living animals, such as

That we don t have to worry if we lose any of them. Sure it makes our lives easier,
but we need to stop thinking of ourselves and start looking for ways we could use
to replace plastic bags, without it causing any harm to the environment and wild
life. For example, But the problems surrounding waste plastic bags starts long
before they photodegrade. Our planet is becoming increasingly contaminated by
our unnecessary use of plastic bags, ( Sharon Jacobsen, para.4). Sharon Jacobsen is
explaining in this quote that plastic bags are, basically, unnecessary. For another
example, Big black bin liners, plastic carrier bags carrying advertising logos, clear
sandwich bags and a variety of other forms are all polluting our environment. They
re lightweight, handy and easily discarded. Too easily discarded, ( Sharon
Jacobsen, para.5). By saying this, she meant since plastic bags are easy to get rid of,
this is how problems are created, problems such as landfills and destroying marine
life. What we need to start improving is to not think about our selves entirely and
discuss what should do to help the things around
Significance Of Magna Charta
Magna Charta is a Great Charter agreed by King John of England in 1215. It was
an important symbol of political freedom. Charter became a part of English
political life but after English Parliament passed new laws, it lost its significance.
After hundreds years Magna Carta was used by Parliament to protect itself from a
powerful king. It gave no real freedom to the majority of people in England. Magna
Charta was a peace treaty between the King and the rebel barons. The nobles wrote
it and forced King John to sign it. They wanted to be sure that John didn t go beyond
his rights as feudal lord. Magna Charta established common laws which replaced the

10 Solution Mystery Rehan Virani Chem 1212L 145 October 20, 2014 Purpose:
The purpose of this experiment is to understand how Ksp values work. Also I will
see how certain solutions react to other solutions. Introduction: I will be given 10
test tubes. 4 will be known acids and bases and 6 will be cations (mixed up). The
cations will have a concentration of .1 M and will be in No3 form. I must
determine which solution is in which test tube. I will be trying to understand Ksp
values work. When KSP is low in a salt it is soluble and when it is high it is
insoluble. The solubility equilibrium constant KSP depends on pH, temperature,
and concentration, however I will not use any of those to determine the cations. I
will determine the solutions by mixing them with each other on spot plates. I will
only use order color and heat to determine which solution. I will be given many

those to identify the rest. I will arrange spot plates in the matrix of 10 X 10. I will

From the start I had determined which one was NH3 just but the strong smell. I then
put drops of NH3 into the rest of the solutions on the spot plates and determined the
following reactions with Mn, Co, Cu, Zn, and Mg which occurred in the following
reactions. Mn: Mn2+(aq) + 2NH3(aq) + 2H2O(l) == Mn(OH)2(s) + 2NH4+(aq),
which looks like a white gelatinous precipitate that oxidizes to brown. Co: Co2+ (aq)
+ 6NH3 (aq) == [Co(NH3)6]2+, which has a blue/red precipitate. Cu: Cu2+(aq) +
2NH3(aq) + 3H2O(l) == Cu(OH)2(s) + 2NH4+(aq), which has a blue precipitate. Zn:
Zn2+(aq) + 2NH3(aq) + 2H2O(l) == Zn(OH)2(s) + 2NH4+(aq), which is a white
gelatinous precipitate that is soluble in excess. Mg: Mg2+(aq) + 2NH3(aq) +

TN20 Diamond Chemicals PLC A And B
е…¶A3Diamond Chemicals PLC (A) and (B) Teaching Note Synopsis and
Objectives These two cases present the capital investment decisions under
consideration by executives of a large chemicals firm in January 2001. The A case
(case 20) presents a go/no go project evaluation regarding improvements to a
polypropylene production plant. The B case (case 21) reviews the same project but
from one level higher, where the executive faces an either/or investment decision
between two mutually exclusive projects. The objective of the two cases is to
expose students to a wide range of capital budgeting issues: A case: go/no go

Here the class must grapple with the potential charge for the use of excess capacity

merit? The focus here should be the cannibalization issue. 4. Why did the assistant
plant manager offer his suggested change? Does it have any merit? This question
raises the issue of extraneous cash flows. 5.What did the analyst from the Treasury
Staff mean by his comment about inflation? Do you agree with it? At this stage of
the discussion, students should review the need for internally consistent
assumptions about inflation. 6.How should Greystock modify his DCF analysis?
This question turns to a summary of the adjustments needed to produce an
acceptable DCF analysis. 7.What is the Merseyside project worth to Diamond
Chemicals? Producing, in class, a revised DCF analysis helps to provide students
with closure on the discussion. Plan for the B case 1.Do you endorse Eustace s
analysis of the project at Rotterdam? How would you improve on it? This open
ended question is intended to stimulate a critique of Eustace s analysis. The key
point of objection is her inclusion of the right of way in the analysis. A brief
discussion should establish that the option of the right of way should be exercised
regardless of whether the project at the Rotterdam plant is undertaken. Therefore, the
cash flows associated with the right of way should be separated from the rest of the

Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus, commonly known as MRSA, is a
relevant infectious bacterium to the healthcare field today due to its resistance to
many antibiotics. MRSA is a gram positive organism that is most commonly
transmitted through skin to skin contact with others who are carriers of this strain.
Patients in hospitals and nursing homes are at higher risk for acquiring this bacteria
with symptoms that range from a skin infection to sepsis. MRSA is an infectious
disease that is continuously on the rise due to the increased rate of antibiotics being
prescribed. These bacteria have gone from being Methicillin Resistant to multiple
drug resistance, making them deadlier than ever. MRSA is a relatively new multi drug

Today there is not an outbreak or CDC Watchlist for this infectious bacterium,
however, there are always cases popping up throughout the community, commonly
in younger ages where hygiene is poorly practiced and in healthcare settings.
MRSA can be acquired in two common ways, community acquired or hospital
acquired. In hospital acquired settings, Methicillin Resistant S. aureus is typically
spread through breaks in the skin, either accidentally or surgically, through contact
of objects that an infected person came in contact with or through cough particles
from those who have the infection in their lungs. Patients with compromised
immune systems can be more likely to acquire MRSA in the hospital. Community
acquired MRSA is spread through exposure to others known as carriers, meaning
they show no symptoms but carry this deadly bacterium either on their skin or in
their nasal passage. This form of MRSA is actually more dangerous because it is
more likely to have acquired multiple drug resistance. The most common symptoms
of this disease include a skin infection resulting in, pus filled abscesses, boils or
cellulitis. These symptoms are usually associated with fevers, chills, and pain at the
site of infection. If not discovered or treated quickly, MRSA can be very invasive
causing severe complications by infecting major organs, causing gangrene, and even
sepsis.
Flight 403 Research Paper
Last call for flight 403, flight 403. My trip started off with a sprint to our gate. My
aunt, cousins, and I made it to our plane as they were closing the doors. Thank God
we were all runners because if we would have made it there a few seconds later, we
would have missed our flight. I sat next to my cousin, Nicole, and we were about to
fly into an unforgettable trip.
My aunt, cousins, and I were going to Colorado! We met my Aunt Charlene s
boyfriend, Mike, at the airport in Colorado. We went to his parent s house to stay for
the night, We played with their games for hours. We also watched some movies and
fell asleep.
The next day, after breakfast, we drove to Boulder, Colorado. It was about a three
hour drive. We made many stops at malls... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We went on a four and a half mile bike ride. It was all fun in games until we reached
our second mile. The rest of our bike ride was filled with hills. Everything was
uphill from now. Our legs felt like jello. After the long journey, we returned our
bikes and drove to Aspen, Colorado. A bus took us to the start of the hikes and
takes us back to the lobby area. It was about a nine mile drive. At the beginning of
the hike, you get an option of whether you want to take the scenery hike or the
crater hike. Of course, Mike makes us go through the crater one. We had to hike up
that mountain filled with huge rocks and streams. It was one of the hardest things
to do in my life because not only was I tripping over the rocks and branches, but
there were giant poisonous spiders hiding everywhere. It took us about an hour
and thirty minutes to reach the top. We lost track of time and we had to get back
to the bus in 40 minutes or else it will leave without us and we would have to walk
9 miles back to the car. We practically ran down that mountain. Of course, my little
cousin trips from behind me and we slid into the stream. I am not going to lie, that
cold water felt really good, but we were soaked. I ran the rest of the way down with
heavy, squishy shoes. I did not think it was possible to run that fast for so long, but
somehow we mastered
Financial Instruments – Other-Than-Temporary

Financial Instruments Other Than Temporary Impairment 1. For the following
investments, determine if OTT should record an other than temporary impairment as
of December 31, 20X1, and if so, for what amount:
Happy New Year amp; Co.
* Since the fair value of investment is less than its cost, the Company should
proceed to step 2 for identifying and accounting for impairment. However, there is
no indication that OTT does not expect the fair value of the security to fully recover
before the expected time of sale. The Company actually does not believe the decline
in price to be permanent. In addition, it does not intend to sell this investment in the

* It should be the entire difference between the investment s cost and its fair value at
the balance sheet date of the reporting period for which the assessment is made. So,
the recorded amount is (100 72) * 50 = $1,400.
(FASB 320 10 35 34)
3. Assume the same facts as in 2 above, but that OTT has not yet determined whether
an impairment exists or the amount of any possible impairment. For March Madness
Incorporated, would OTT still conclude that the investment is other than temporarily
impaired, and would the impairment charge as of December 31, 20X1, be different if
the stock price at issuance of the financial statements (i.e., as of January 31, 20X2)
was $95 and not $75?
* Unless it is clear that the impairment is deemed other than temporary, we cannot
conclude that the investment is other than temporarily impaired. For the second part
of the question, the charge will not be different because it depends on the fair value at
the balance sheet date, not the issuance date.
(FASB 320 10 35 33 and 34)
4. For Tohoku Toys, determine if OTT should record an other than temporary
impairment as of December 31, 20X1.
* OTT does not believe that the restructuring will ultimately be successful. So, an
other than temporary impairment should be considered to have occurred if the
Company intends to sell them or not.

Calpurnia Discrimination Quotes
Cry about the hell white people give coloured folks (Lee pg 170) stated Mr.Radley

on the main theme of racism. During the 1930 s racism played a huge role in
society for African Americans who faced discrimination and segregation. The
common occurrence of this theme is expressed throughout relations with
individuals, societal discrimination and law injustice for blacks. Racism can and
does impacts the relationships with individuals whether it is an employee, close
friend or a family member. A white upper class family, the Finch s, consisted of a
father, Atticus, and two kids, Jem and Scout. The family also employed a black
woman named Calpurnia, as a housekeeper to raise the kids, but she had always
felt like family. Aunt Alexandra, on the other hand, did not feel the same way
about Calpurnia; she did not believe a black woman should raise white children.
She mistreated and discriminated Calpurnia. As Alexandra arrived, her first words

Should Payroll Fraud Be Illegal
Whether it s done unintentionally by a business, or intentionally by its employees,
payroll fraud is a lot more common than you think. In fact, payroll fraud happens in
27 percent of all businesses and occurs nearly twice as often in small organizations
with less than 100 employees than in large ones. If your business is expanding into
Canada, committing payroll fraudcan be done unintentionally and it s a lot easier to
do than you think.
Avoiding payroll fraud is an absolute must for expanding businesses. Expansion
should start on the right foot not with a lawsuit. In order to ensure your business is
in compliance with Canadian payroll laws and avoids internal payroll fraud, here are
some things you need to consider.
The Types of Payroll Fraud
In most cases, there are two major ways payroll fraud can occur: at the fault of
employees or at the fault of a business. Employees can embezzle money from the
business they work for, while businesses can curve taxes from the government.
Whether it s intentional or not, in the eyes of the law, payroll fraud is always a
crime. If you don t take the necessary precautions, you can be prosecuted. ... Show

If your payroll system isn t closely monitored or handled by a trusted professional,
it can actually be quite easy. Ghost employees are one of the most common types
of payroll fraud. This involves a payroll manager or staff member creating fake
employees or failing to remove terminated employees from the payroll system. Funds
are then diverted to these ghost employees and a payroll staff member claims the
money. Timesheet fraud is also a major concern, as more than just payroll staff can
commit this type of fraud. Timesheet fraud involves employees incorrectly
documenting the number of hours they ve worked, leading to a higher paycheck, for
hours that aren t actually
Commodity Future Research Paper
You may be thinking, what is a commodity Future? Well, a commodity future is
basically when a company sets a certain price for something on a certain date. It s
like, originally honey is at 5 dollars, but the company that had produced it plan to up
the price of honey within a year of production, to gain more money. A commodity
futureis basically, the change of a certain price on a certain date. Though, let s dig
deeper about this commodity future to better understand this.
First off, sure it may seem like something hard to understand but if you plan to start
up a company, you need to figure out what will change over what could be months,
or even years. So, let s say you re a farmer, and you re selling your produce for all to
eat. And
Outsourcing Of The American Dream
As more and more students graduate, they begin to look for work; hoping for a job
capable of paying off their debts and making their chosen degree worthwhile. In
America, we are running into the problem of a lack of jobs, requiring a degree or
not. From service jobs to white collar jobs, ...more than 14 million jobs are
vulnerable to being outsources offshore. (Roberts).College graduates that are native
to America are struggling to find work due to the outsourcingof jobs, in turn
damaging our economy. It is common sense that the more jobs we give away, the
less jobs there will be for newly college graduates to work. Although they were once
known as the jobs of the American Dream , they are now simply not American.
Outsourcing used to not worry me, because I thought the jobs that were outsourced
were the minimum wage, labor required jobs but I was wrong. These are not only
call center operators, customer service and back office jobs, but also information
technology, accounting, architecture.....etc. (Roberts). It used to be that if you
spent the time and money to earn a degree, you would almost be guaranteed a job.
Now days, even the jobs that require 4+ years of school are being sent overseas,
leaving no hope for the new generations entering our work force. Not only is this
outsourcing causing companies to lose their best employees, but also the consumers
that buy their products. Employees displaced by foreigners and left unemployed or
in lower paid work have
Net Present Value Essay
Investments are necessary for a business to grow. Although, this is true it much more
valuable to know about the value and benefit of the investment. Selecting the best
investment choice will ensure growth in the future and will generate value. The
problem typically arises when trying to utilize capital budgeting skills in determining
different tasks with the same risk. There are many ways to determine the correct
return gained from investments. The (NPV) Net Present Valuehas proven to be the
best method for organizations to use. NPV gives a direct image of what can be
profited or loss when investing. This allows for the best decision to be made when
selecting a project.

Based on this method the future funds that can be potentially earned from the project
have to be larger than the starting amount of investment. At minimum the price of
investment has to be recouped from the project. In both situations there has to be a
recoupment or the projects will be abandoned because there would be too much
burden on the organization with no gain. Now, if the ROI is higher than the price of
capital, only then can the choice be made. Assuming both ideas have large ROI s
then the idea with the greatest is going to be chosen. This situation is known as
hurdle rate (Damodar, 2017).
PI or Profitability Index is the method that involves the profits earned from a
project. Just like with NPV all predicted income is discounted to current rates
utilizing the price of capital, usually the discounted rate. The way that choices are
made under this method is that all tasks with a profitability index of higher than one
with be chosen and anything under one will not be chosen. This is because it is
assumed that the profitability index value of larger than one lets on that the projected
cash flow will have a higher value than the starting investment. Both PI and NPV
answers will reveal similar data so, it is not sensible to utilize this method to
determine the project (Tarantino, 2006).
Payer mix refers to cash mix or product mix. The payer mix has an influence on the

The Basic Idea Of Science
THE BASIC IDEA
In the field of physical science it has been proved that absolutely everything can be
scientifically reduced to one ultimate invisible Essence, something which cannot be
contacted by the physical senses. It is therefore only reasonable to say that originally
everything must have, and still does, come from It. According to one s way of
thinking, different names are given to It: Energy, Principle, Universal Intelligence,
Universal Mind, Consciousness, Spirit, God.

That too is an inescapable realization drawn from the premise of an infinite being.
The Infinite cannot be one with just one of us. It must be one with every one of us.
Each and everyone is one with the infinite One, God. If you doubt that Jesus came to
this conclusion, then consider one question: Why did he say that when we pray we
should pray to Our Father, rather than his Father? We are all one with the infinite
One. I think that we must accept this premise because it is reasonable; but my
insistence that others think and reason as I do would be unreasonable. Anyone can
ignore the infinite One; they just can t be separate or apart from It. We can ignore our
heritage, our inheritance and our inherent nature. Nevertheless it is with us, even
thou we deny it. You can ignore reality, but it doesn t go away.
One Reality The Apostle Paul wrote: In him we live, and move, and have our being
[Acts 17:28] Jesus said: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the
kingdom of God is within you. [Lk. 17:21] God would have to be very small to be
within all, and very large to include all. However, to resolve these two extremes, God
need only be infinite. Remember what Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote in his essay,
History:
There is no great and no small
To the Soul that maketh all:
And where it cometh, all things are;
And it cometh everywhere. When we envision a God that is omniscient, omnipotent

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes Comparative Essay
The musical film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, which is best known for the
infamous show tune Diamonds are a Girl s Best Friend, was filmed in 1953 and
stars Marilyn Monroe as Lorelei Lee and Jane Russell as Dorothy Shaw . Lorelei
and Dorothy are a couple of attractive ladies and best friends, who perform in a
cabaret show. Lorelei is a diamond hungry, gold digger who uses her looks and

Both films are musicals about cabaret dancers except Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
stars two leading ladies whereas Cabaret only has one leading lady. Another
similarity between the two films is the gold digger aspect, Lorelei being the gold
digger in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes are only interested in materialistic things
which is very similar to Sally s interest in a wealthy man except Sally is also
interested in what a wealthy man can do for her acting career. A few of the
differences in the two films were that they are filmed during different era s and so
being that Gentlemen Prefer Blondes was filmed in the early fifties, it is much more
conservative and even though Cabaret is set in the thirties the film was actually filmed
in the early seventies when it was popular to really push the envelope and so this
films plot is much more risquГ©. Another difference with these two films is that in
Cabaret the plot is more dramatic really focusing on the rise of Nazism and the
topic of sexual preference by having the three main characters becoming involved in
a love triangle. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes was more of a carefree comedy with not
a lot of the plot. Overall I would have to say that the plot for Cabaret had more
substance, therefor keeping me more interested than Gentlemen Prefer Blondes

Activities Essay

  • 1. Activities Essay Writing an essay on the topic of "Activities" can present both challenges and opportunities. On one hand, the broadness of the subject allows for a wide range of personal experiences and reflections to be incorporated. However, this very expansiveness can also make it challenging to narrow down the focus and choose which activities to highlight. The difficulty lies in striking a balance between showcasing one's diverse interests and ensuring that the essay remains coherent and well-structured. The writer must carefully select activities that not only reflect their passions but also contribute to a cohesive narrative that demonstrates personal growth, skills development, or meaningful connections. Additionally, crafting an engaging and memorable essay requires more than just listing activities. It involves delving into the significance of each activity, the lessons learned, and the impact on personal development. The challenge is to avoid turning the essay into a mere catalog of achievements, but rather, to weave a compelling story that resonates with the reader. Moreover, the essay should convey authenticity, giving the reader a genuine insight into the writer's character and values. This authenticity can be difficult to achieve, as there may be a temptation to present a curated version of oneself. Striking the right tone, avoiding clichГ©s, and finding a unique angle are crucial aspects of overcoming this challenge. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Activities" demands a delicate balance between showcasing diverse experiences and maintaining a coherent, meaningful narrative. It requires thoughtful reflection, careful selection of activities, and the ability to convey authenticity. While the task may be challenging, it also provides an opportunity for self-discovery and expression. The training to become a Navy SEAL is physically demanding and one has to push the body past the breaking point. • 4. My Philosophy Of My Personal Philosophy In The Classroom All students are unique individuals, who have their own way of learning. Some students, might find it easier to learn from hands on work rather than reading materials. Others, may be capable of learning with just reading content. Since every student learns differently, I believe there isn t just one philosophical way of how students should be taught. I would incorporate a couple different philosophies and teachingmechanisms into my classroom. I also believe that the environment a child is in impacts the way they learn. Students should have a set of rules to follow, but also be able to express what they think and feel just as well. My personal philosophy is that there are numerous ways to teach children the materials they need to know. Pragmatism is one philosophical theory I will follow in my classroom. Since, this helps the development of practical knowledge, my students will be able to apply some things in actual... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The students will have an opportunity on the first day of class to come up with some more they think should be followed. The rules will be as follows: Number one, be on time for class. This will help them throughout life just as much as in the classroom. No matter what, in life you must be on time for certain things. In a workplace you have a schedule to follow. I believe implementing certain rules early in life gives the opportunity for success and good work ethic. Number two will be to complete all tasks in a timely manner. This sets them up for a good work ethic also. If all tasks are completed on time for the whole class, I will reward them by having a game day. Number three, no talking during tests. If students are talking during a test, then that makes it hard to see if they need a different learning method to catch on to the material. The class overall must follow all rules or there will be no reward handed
  • 5. Use Of Dramatic Irony In The Odyssey In Homer s epic, The Odyssey, Homer deliberately uses dramatic irony to convey his message to his audience and reader. Dramatic irony is when the character does not realize the reality or truth of a situation and the audience does because the author has presented clues to the audience. In the episode, Meeting of Father and Son , Homer uses dramatic ironyin order for his audience to feel suspense and infer the significant meaning of his text. Homers audience was the people of ancient Greece who were actively listening to his great epic. In addition to this, the speaker of the episode could use this dramatic irony to entertain their audience. By using dramatic irony it allows the audience to have an active role and to fully understand the reality
  • 6. Tale Of Two Cities Sacrifice Sacrifices Must Be Made for Love and Happiness A Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens, is a suspenseful novel taking place before and during the French Revolution in the late 1700s. The audience is taken on a journey through time, learning about how the Revolution affected two main families, the Manettes and the EvrГ©mondes. Throughout the novel, Dickens makes the reader question what drives man kind to sacrifice? The answer is love and happiness result in sacrifices. The characters, such as Charles Darnay, Doctor Manette, and Sydney Carton prove this as they commit sacrifices to start a new life, for a loved one, or for the benefit of other people. Charles Darnay sacrifices all the luxuries that come with being part of the EvrГ©monde family ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Earlier in the novel, when Carton confesses his love to Lucie, he states, And when you see your own bright beauty springing up anew at your feet, think now and then that there is a man who would give his life, to keep a life you love beside you (117). His word is tested later in the end of the novel. Darnay is sentenced for execution, but Carton would not allow for Lucie to loose the life she loves (117). Carton trickes Darnay into switching places and eventually, Carton is executed in Darnay s place, without any of the Revolutionists realizing. Indeed, he is willing to give up his own life, a life Lucie could never love the way she loves Darnay, so she and Darnay could stay together. Besides sacrificing his life for Lucie s husband, Sydney also sacrifices his life because he believes the people of the city would benefit from it. Carton states during his last moments of life, I see a beautiful city and a brilliant people rising from this abyss, and, in their struggles to be truly free, in their triumphs and defeats, through long years to come, I see the evil of this time and of the previous time of which this is the natural birth, gradually making expiation for itself and wearing out (292). Carton explains how he thinks the Revolution will end since the revolutionist have achieved their goal of killing the last EvrГ©monde.
  • 7. The 1918 Pandemic Analysis The 1918 pandemic instilled the notion that influenza was closely associated with war, with some scientists even explicitly referring to it as a war disease, because of the considerable impact it had on armed services personnel. Government officials convinced that influenza would appear with the outbreak of World War II, established the Commission on Influenzaof the United States Army Epidemiological Board to provide technical advice and commence work on an effective vaccine. The heightened political attention to the threat of infectious diseases prompted the passage of new legislation that grants governments extended powers intervention (and ownership) by central governments in health care services, and resulted in millions of dollars worth
  • 8. Hsieh Zappos Hiring Process The ninth value is to be passionate and determined. Hsieh s belief in the concept of Zappos is what fueled his determination to keep the company afloat. We are inspired because we believe in what we are doing and where we are going. (Hsieh, p. 181). Hsieh refused to take no for an answer and that is attributable to Zappos success. This is a key criterion in the Zappos hiring process. If a candidate doesn t seem passionate about possibly working for Zappos, they won t fit in with the culture. Being around co workers with a positive, but realistic, attitude makes coming to work enjoyable. The final value asks employees to remain humble; another value considered in the hiring process. Zappos has turned down many candidates for employment that boastfully spoke of individual accomplishments instead of giving credit to their team. The Zappos culture requires employees to take a modest approach to customer service; constantly obsessing over the customer s needs. • 10. Simone De Beauvoir And Frantz Fanon Simone de Beauvoir and Frantz Fanon were both interested in the experiences of marginalized groups, women and black men respectively. In The Second Sex, De Beauvoir discusses the history of domination women have experienced at the hands of the superior group, men. In Black Skin, White Masks, Fanon explains and analyzes the experiences of black men in the wake of colonialism and up to modern times. Both authors not only address the ways in which women and black men are dominated by others, but also the ways in which the oppressed group participates, often unknowingly, in the systems of their own domination. According to De Beauvoir, women participate in their own domination by embracing the benefits given to them by men, by fulfilling expectations... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From birth, girls are taught that they are to act a certain way, and when they become women, they perpetuate these norms by fulfilling them. We are exhorted to be women, remain women, become women... , De Beauvoir writes, ...it would appear, then, that every female human being is not necessarily a woman; to be so considered she must share in that mysterious and threatened reality known as femininity . This femininity makes a female person a woman. For example, [a woman] must become a passive thing, a promise of submission and, conversely, if [a woman] is proud and demanding, woman meets the male as an adversary and is decidedly not feminine. Shut up in her flesh, her home, she sees herself as passive before these gods with human faces who set goals and establish values , and this acceptance and participation in traditional femininity perpetuates societal beliefs that women, or at least acceptable women, are inferior naturally. By doing this, women participate in the continuation of their domination by men, who society believes are more naturally suited for superiority. Furthermore, The woman that does not conform devalues herself sexually, and hence socially, since sexual values are an integral feature of society . This quote shows that, according to De Beauvoir, women have little
  • 11. Sexual Offenders And The Law Sexual Offenders and the Law Joseph D. Williams Professor Weslea Bell English 215 10 June 9, 2015 Sexual Offenders and the Law Sexual offender registry is a deeply emotional and intuitive issue. The issue has captured the support of the politicians and the community, but the upsurge of outwardly automatic public support has enabled and encouraged the legislators to move to fast very quickly. The representatives latched onto this issue because it is a political strategy for accumulating votes. Sexual offender laws are essential, but the prevalent indication demonstrates that the conjecture surrounding sex offenders are principally incorrect. The legislation regarding sexual offender laws should be changed in some cases because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The question one must ask themselves is What are the chances of recidivism rates on sexual offenders compared to supplementary crimes ? In addition, should sexual registration laws be changed? Sex offender registration in the United States began with the Jacob Wetterling Crimes against Children and Sexually Violent Offender Registration Act, passed by Congress in 1994. Since then, every states has indorsed some practice of sex offender registry and public reporting system. At present, researchers have determined that Sex Laws are undeserved and unproductive . If the social order wants to keep their children safe from real sex offenders, we need to do away with our existing sex offender registries and absolutely rethink the way we outline and punish sexual offences in this country. Currently, a substantial proportion of those people listed in sex offender registries pose almost no threat to children, making it challenging for us to know who really does pose a threat to our children and what we should do about them. As a nation, we have foolishly concluded that all sex crimes are the same. While sex offender registry laws vary from state to state. The problem is simple because the law says that two teens caught engaging in consensual oral sex in high school belong on the same list as a child rapist. This notion is ridiculous. This concept leaves
  • 12. Human Gut Microbiome The relationship between the human gut microbiome to health and disease is strong. Human physiology, metabolism, nutrition, and immune function are all affected by the composition of the gut. If the composition of the gut microbiome is altered in a way that any of these functions are negatively affected, this can lead to disease. The developments of the microbiome, its complexity, and its functionality in health and disease have been extensively studied. In addition, the way in which it is altered has many implications in the cause of diseases, such as bowel disease, obesity, diabetes and cancer. A healthy adult has over 1000 species of bacteriaresiding in the gut (1). There is great diversity in genera of these bacteria, however the most... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dietary fiber is a source of carbohydrate that has benefits for intestinal health. It plays a role in the prevention of disease in the intestine and even throughout the body, such as obesity, type II diabetes, and cardiovascular disease (10). Furthermore, when the bacteria in the gut ferment the fiber, metabolites are produced, which benefit the body. Short chain fatty acids are one major end product of this carbohydrate metabolism, which act to lower the colon s pH, inhibiting pathogenic bacteria from growing. Some other metabolites include lactate, succinate and formate. Lactate is converted to butyrate by the bacteria in the gut, which induces mucin synthesis, which is a glycoprotein that maintains the gut epithelium integrity. Butyrate also acts to prevent bacterial transport across the epithelium and increases tight junction assembly (11). What this means, is that the fermentation of fiber allows these beneficial metabolites to be produced, causing a cascade of reactions that promote health and gut integrity. This shows the complex beneficial interaction between gut microbiota and fiber intake and its role in promoting health. Gut microbiota composition has also been seen to play a role in glycemic levels, particularly in children with type 1 diabetes. When butyrate and propionate (short chain fatty acids) are produced by the gut microbiota, they have been shown to regulate gut hormone levels, such as
  • 13. Realism In Stephen King s The Boogeyman Stephen King s short story The Boogeyman is a thrilling adventure that incorporates an urban legend that has many names throughout the world, and therefore makes any reader able to identify with this story. It pulls you in, making you question whether the stories your parents, cousins, or siblings you had finally deemed as unrealistic and fake were fictional at all. Why is King s story so eerie? Is it the realism in the story, or the fact that the creature being described may have always been a small weakness for you? The scientific article The Bogeymanin which we are explained the origin and purpose for the monster may have the answers to these questions. After all, how probable is it that an unidentified creature will happen to appear in sight tonight? In the scientific article, it is explained that the purpose of the boogeyman is to frighten people in order for them to fit the norm in society. King s article also uses the boogeyman in order to frighten people, but does it so that the man, Lester Billings seems crazed, and yet in a sense, believable. For example, in the short story, Billings is present in a psychiatrist s office and is telling his story to the therapist. This plays into the realism within the story, as many people have therapists and believe in supernatural forces such as: ghosts, vampires, demons, etc (not everyone goes to therapy for these reasons, but it is safe to assume some people do suffer from paranoia within this particular topic). • 14. Gospel Of Luke Fleming 17 INTRODUCTION ORIENTATION AND CONTEXT Significance of Text The theme of this text seems to be centered on the cost of following Christ. God wants everybody; but with regards to discipleship, He wants only those willing and able. Jesus knows the hearts of those following Him and it is not the number of people He is concerned with, but the volume of their hearts. ?The audience has shifted from the Pharisees and dinner guests of 14:1 24 to the large crowds of people who were traveling with Jesus. Apparently Jesus has resumed his journey toward Jerusalem (9:51) and now will address the crowds? (Evans 228). He is on His final walk, a journey that will lead Him to a cross. The cross was the most painful and humiliating form of execution of the Roman era. Thus, to take up one?s cross daily is to expect painful situations every day because of allegiance to Christ? (1?Luke? 1755). We are to understand that being a disciple of Christ we will have our character tested. We must be willing to give up everything to follow, and love Him above all others. Even our own lives are to be a sacrifice for His service. We are to not be ?ostriches? with our heads in the sand but with open eyes, minds and hearts weigh the cost, and decide if we are able to follow. Are we able to stand against our enemies, (His enemies)? Are we strong enough, brave enough, and faithful enough to be counted worthy? If we are not, are we willing to sacrifice it all to become what He requires? Discipleship requires service, study, and sacrifice. Surrendering our will to His is often the hardest challenge/obstacle to true discipleship. Our service to Him requires action and diligence to sharing both our skills, resources and time. Study of His word means that we take the time to investigate, memorize and understand what His word says and how it applies to our lives. Sacrifice is the final key to unlocking all that God has in store for us both in this life and in heaven. Willingly laying everything aside to follow Him despite what others
  • 15. Contributions Of Horace Mann Known as The Father of American Education, Horace Mann is listed in Atlantic Magazine as one of the 100 Most Influential Figures in American History. Although modern education in America has strayed from the original principles Horace Mann established during the creation of the common school, his multitude of contributions towards American public educationmarks him as worthy of this distinction. Horace Mann was born May 4th, 1796 in Franklin, Massachusetts. Franklin was a small town with a strong religious community and, consequently, much of Mann s early education on morality was derived from sermons at the meetinghouse, although he frequently disagreed with the teachings of Pastor Nathaniel Emmons. Formal schooling in Franklin consisted of 6 7 weeks out of the year of substandard instruction, held in a one room schoolhouse; Mann was dissatisfied with this two prong approach to education and only thrived academically due to his devotion to teach himself. Instead of continuing life on the farm, Mann decided to seek higher education away from his home and family. After a series of strenuous admission exams, he entered Brown University with sophomore standing. However, the education provided by Brown University only taught Horace Mann how to excel in form and not thought; both his essays and arguments were incredibly well crafted but lacked substance and hard facts. However, he managed to graduate from Brown University in 1819 in high esteem as both valedictorian and
  • 16. Safety Of Amalgam ( Silver Fillings ) Name: Jafar Al salem NO:M 011442002 Safety of Amalgam Fillings What is Dental Amalgam (Silver Fillings)? Most people recognize dental amalgams as silver fillings. Dental amalgam is a mixture of mercury, silver, tin and copper. Mercury, which makes up about 50 percent of the compound, is used to bind the metals together and to provide a strong, hard, durable filling. After years of research, mercury has been found to be the only element that will bind these metals together in such a way that can be easily manipulated into a tooth cavity. Is mercury in dental amalgam safe? Mercury in dental amalgam is not poisonous. When mercury is combined with other materials in dental amalgam, its chemical nature changes, so it is essentially harmless. The amount of mercury released in the mouth under the pressure of chewing and grinding is extremely small and no cause for alarm. In fact, the amount is less than what patients are exposed to in food, air and water. Ongoing scientific studies conducted over the past 100 years continue to prove that amalgam is not harmful. Claims of diseases caused by mercury in amalgam are anecdotal, as are claims of miraculous cures achieved by removing amalgam. These claims have not been proven scientifically. Why do dentists use dental amalgam? Dental amalgam has withstood the test of time, which is why it is the material of choice. It has a 150 year proven track record and is still one of the safest, most durable and least expensive

It is given to a member of the United States armed forces who distinguishes himself conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in an action against an enemy of the United States . Because of the nature of its criteria, the medal is often awarded posthumously. The Coast Guard Medal of Honour, which was distinguished from the Navy medal in 1963, has never been awarded, partly because the U.S. Coast Guard is subsumed into the U.S. Navy in time of declared war. Only one member of the Coast Guard has received a Medal of Honour, Signalman 1st Class Douglas Munro, who was awarded the Navy version for action during the Battle of Guadalcanal. In the rare cases, 19 so far, where a service member has been awarded more than one Medal of Honour, current regulations specify that an appropriate award device be cantered on the Medal of Honour ribbon and neck medal. Nature Vs Nurture Research Paper Nature vs Nurture debate is the representation that society is an organism, but the question is do we inherently possess the knowledge to function as an organism, or are we taught this skill. The debate over Nature vs Nurture is more of a struggle about which theory is the correct theory in my opinion. Social behaviors can be the product of both genetics as well as an influence by our environment. Nature is of the belief that inherited traits found in our genes make us who we are. From the day we are born, we are subject to society, which play an important role in who we are by way of family, friends, and media. Any situation we are subject to has an impact on us. I can remember this from a very early age, even growing up in the same household, attending the same school and church, etc. our values and standards are quite different from one another. Even in the animal kingdom, genetics is evident. I was watching a nature video by David Attenborough about birds. The video showed how different species laid their eggs. The cuckoo bird would lay her eggs in the nests of unlike species. As the baby cuckoo bird cracked its shell, even before it was able to see, it would immediately begin pushing all the other eggs out of the nest in order to be the only bird fed by its adoptive mother. This is not a case of something learned, as much as it is instinctive. Having said that, I believe who we are as human beings is the combination of both nature and nurture that our genes and environment work together. I believe certain traits and abilities are inherited, however I also believe social structure plays a most active role in who we become and what
  • 20. Essay about Egt1 Task 1 Marginal Analysis Economics amp; Global Business Applications, EGT 1, Task 1 A. Explanation of profit maximization The total revenue, TR, is the overall amount of all sources of a business s income. It consists of total sales or profit, over a period of time. The TR can be calculated by taking the price and multiplying it by the quantity. For example, if a business decides to retail another product and the total revenue does increase, thus the marginal revenue would be greater than zero. However, if the business decides to sell another product and the marginal revenue is zero, then there would not be any changes to the total revenue. To determine profit maximization, using the Total Revenue to Total Costapproach, consider the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, applying the same formula to the maximum of 15 widgets produced ($1200 150/15) also results in a MR of $70 per widget. In the provided scenario, Company A has experienced decreasing MR for every one more widget they produce. C. Calculation used to determine Marginal Cost In comparison, the marginal cost is the added cost of producing one more unit of output. It is determined by the change in total cost (TC) divided by the change in output (Q). MC= TC/Q. In the provided scenario, for Company A to produce one widget TC=$30, to produce two widgets TC=$50 thus the marginal cost was $20; furthermore the cost per widget to produce was $25. Marginal cost will continue to decrease for Company A until they reach their profit maximization of $42.86 per widget at 7 widgets. Marginal cost will then begin to decrease for every additional widget produced until the end result of 15 widgets with a MC that exceeds $80, also allowing TC to topple to TR ($1220/15=$81.33). D. Company A profit maximization Quantity| Total Revenue| Total Cost| 7| $840| $300| Company A reaches its greatest profit maximization with a Quantity of 8 because the total revenue is at the greatest distance from total cost. (TFC+TVC=TC); Price x Quantity = TR; Price =$115 Profit is the difference between TR and

It is created in a course of time. This is why most buildings have made it in the history books, not only because the intention was meant, but also because they were able to bring different reflections to a people they were built for. Architecture refers to the production of objects, buildings, a task performed by the people. The most successful architecture goes beyond functions, enclosure, or rather a big envelope for living. With some Authors Modern Movement is considered to mean social and aesthetic innovation using state of the art technology and rejecting the values of continuity and traditions or rather to shape the present and the now. Another common feature the buildings shared was the use of latest technological advances during their time of construction. Most of the buildings were constructed at a time when reinforced concrete was discovered and with reinforced concrete, they were built. Some were constructed during the time curtain walls were put to use in construction and curtain walls were certainly installed in the buildings. When a building is set to be constructed, the design team which is led by the architect plans for how the spaces of the building would be (in terms of their location, size and functionality). After this initial planning is done, the design is then presented to the client of whom he or she would agree or disagree. In most cases, the client usually has a few rectifications and the design team usually rectifies them before the project is being tendered for construction. After tendering, the contractor begins to construct the building project with accordance to the drawings provided to him by the design

Most of them were holding signs saying where they had travelled from. I joined in the daily procession and enjoyed every moment. We all held lit candles that were placed in plastic cups to protect the flame. They symbolised God s grace within each and every one of them. (The light) We were also singing the hymn Ave Maria meaning Praise to Mary.

  • 39. Time For Recess Many students wish that there would be a time for recess in middle school. I think there should be a set time for recess. I think there should be one because it would help kids to get their energy out, and would also give the teachers a break from teaching. The first reason why there should be a scheduled time for recess is because lots of kids have a lot of energy and are very loud and disruptive in class. Recess would help them to get their energy out and to pay attention in class. Also, it would help them to be in better shape and not be full of energy all of the time. Almost any teacher has students that disrupt their class on a daily basis and having a recess could help with that. Also kids would probably be happier if they got to go
  • 40. Argumentative Statement On Flag Burning In a cosmopolitan nation full of diversity like the United States, conflicts are bound to arise between cultures and races with different views. However, in order to maintain the diversity, people must be willing to understand and accept others opinions. This ideal has been tested by citizens in the US in many conflicts as people mistreat others. People exclude or mistreat others who are different, but should accept them for the good of society as long as violence doesn t break out. The accepting of differences will strengthen the community and help everyone keep an open mind. From Texas v. JohnsonMajority Opinion , William J. Brennan explains the statement that justifies flag burning, and, though controversial, finding closure for this matter: Our decision is a reaffirmation of the principles of freedom and inclusiveness that the flag reflects, and of the conviction that our toleration of criticism is our sign and source of our strength (Brennan 16). Brennan explains that though many are concerned with the idea that flag burning is legal and take action against it, they should take the other route instead. That is to say, to uphold the ideals the US Constitution promises, people must tolerate flag burning as it is a form of communication towards society. In addition, people have the obligation to influence and convince those protesters to reevaluate their actions and errors. Brennan s statement portrays that even though a problem can attract controversy, it is

They then enter the food web when animals accidentally ingest them, ( admin, para.8 ). In case you didn t know, the meaning of biodegrade is to decay and to become absorbed by the environment, while photodegrade is to be decomposed by the action of light, especially sun light. Sure it makes our lives easier, but we need to stop thinking of ourselves and start looking for ways we could use to replace plastic bags, without it causing any harm to the environment and wild life. For example, But the problems surrounding waste plastic bags starts long before they photodegrade. Our planet is becoming increasingly contaminated by our unnecessary use of plastic bags, ( Sharon Jacobsen, para.4). Sharon Jacobsen is explaining in this quote that plastic bags are, basically, unnecessary. For another example, Big black bin liners, plastic carrier bags carrying advertising logos, clear sandwich bags and a variety of other forms are all polluting our environment. They re lightweight, handy and easily discarded. Too easily discarded, ( Sharon Jacobsen, para.5). By saying this, she meant since plastic bags are easy to get rid of, this is how problems are created, problems such as landfills and destroying marine life. What we need to start improving is to not think about our selves entirely and discuss what should do to help the things around

Charter became a part of English political life but after English Parliament passed new laws, it lost its significance. After hundreds years Magna Carta was used by Parliament to protect itself from a powerful king. It gave no real freedom to the majority of people in England. Magna Charta was a peace treaty between the King and the rebel barons. The nobles wrote it and forced King John to sign it. MRSA can be acquired in two common ways, community acquired or hospital acquired. In hospital acquired settings, Methicillin Resistant S. aureus is typically spread through breaks in the skin, either accidentally or surgically, through contact of objects that an infected person came in contact with or through cough particles from those who have the infection in their lungs. Patients with compromised immune systems can be more likely to acquire MRSA in the hospital. Community acquired MRSA is spread through exposure to others known as carriers, meaning they show no symptoms but carry this deadly bacterium either on their skin or in their nasal passage. This form of MRSA is actually more dangerous because it is more likely to have acquired multiple drug resistance. The most common symptoms of this disease include a skin infection resulting in, pus filled abscesses, boils or cellulitis. These symptoms are usually associated with fevers, chills, and pain at the site of infection. If not discovered or treated quickly, MRSA can be very invasive causing severe complications by infecting major organs, causing gangrene, and even sepsis.

At minimum the price of investment has to be recouped from the project. In both situations there has to be a recoupment or the projects will be abandoned because there would be too much burden on the organization with no gain. Now, if the ROI is higher than the price of capital, only then can the choice be made. Assuming both ideas have large ROI s then the idea with the greatest is going to be chosen. This situation is known as hurdle rate (Damodar, 2017). PI or Profitability Index is the method that involves the profits earned from a project. That too is an inescapable realization drawn from the premise of an infinite being. The Infinite cannot be one with just one of us. It must be one with every one of us. Each and everyone is one with the infinite One, God. If you doubt that Jesus came to this conclusion, then consider one question: Why did he say that when we pray we should pray to Our Father, rather than his Father? We are all one with the infinite One. I think that we must accept this premise because it is reasonable; but my insistence that others think and reason as I do would be unreasonable. Anyone can ignore the infinite One; they just can t be separate or apart from It. We can ignore our heritage, our inheritance and our inherent nature. Nevertheless it is with us, even thou we deny it. You can ignore reality, but it doesn t go away. One Reality The Apostle Paul wrote: In him we live, and move, and have our being [Acts 17:28] Jesus said: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. [Lk. 17:21] God would have to be very small to be within all, and very large to include all. However, to resolve these two extremes, God need only be infinite.
