Abuse Of Animal Abuse
Did you know about 10 million animals get abused and neglected every year? Circuses and Zoos are
prime examples of animal abuse and neglect. Animals like tigers, elephants, dolphins, and whales
should be in their natural habitat. These animals shouldn't be in small rusty cages, and crowded
pools. There are also people who illegally fight animals for money; i.e. Dog fighting, cock fighting,
etc. These animals fight for their lives, but the owners don't care about whether or not they die, they
just want money. Animals should not be used for our entertainment. Animals are not given the
choice of going into the entertainment world. People gamble on dog fighting, cock fighting, etc.
Wild cats and elephants in circuses endure abuse and neglect to be taught how to jump through
hoops of fire. SeaWorld neglects their animals once they get sick, and these animals are given
merely any space. Animal fighting is illegal in all 50 states in the U.S. and in district Of Columbia,
Guam, and Puerto Rico. Yet animal fighting happens almost every day. Most of the animals that
fight are dogs, cocks, or hogs. Dog owners like to train their dogs how to be aggressive. They chain
their dog outside out of reach from other animals and people. The dogs are given basic veterinary
care and nutrition because the owners care about winning, not about the dogs themselves. Some
fighting dogs get steroids to enhance their muscles and increase their aggressiveness. These dogs
also get legal and illegal drugs

Pitbull Discrimination
In late April of 2007, Michael Vick, a star NFL quarterback, was charged with multiple felonies
such as dog fighting and animal abuse when his Bad Newz Kennels was exposed for dog fighting,
illegal breeding and animal cruelty. Vick had approximately 54 dogs, mostly Pit Bulls in his kennel
along with blood–stained fighting area, breeding equipment and documents of him and his
accomplices murdering the dogs if they lost or gave a poor performance. After this story was
plastered across the media, it opened the eyes of people to Pit Bulls and what they are capable of.
Every year 1.2 million dogs are euthanized each year in kennels and shelters, 40% of which are Pit
Bulls. Pit Bulls have been discriminated against for the aggressive behavior that ... Show more

Many studies have shown that Pit Bulls are loving and loyal animals. Many have grown up with
them as iconic dogs their whole lives such as Petey from the Little Rascals movie and countless
famous war dogs. But after the media started to get stories of people conducting dog fights with Pit
Bulls they are automatically the most aggressive dog on the earth. These animals don't get to choose
if they want to fight or not, it is about survival when any dog is thrown into that situation. The
people running them gamble a lot of money into these fights and when a dog loses, if the other dog
hasn't killed the owners most likely will. It is no way to treat an animal and is enough to turn any
dog of any breed or any person for that matter into a monster. But, just because of these unfortunate
stories, all Pit Bulls are automatically considered dangerous. There are Pit Bull advocates out there
that are trying to show the world that they are amazing and loving pets, but all that effort gets kicked
under the rug after an irresponsible owner who neglects and poorly trains their dog, gets out and
bites another dog or person, all effort is lost and the media is all over it again expressing how
dangerous this breed is, just because of one irresponsible owner. This is a problem because this
breed of dogs is being penalized and put down for the actions of careless humans. If this continues
to happen and they ban all Pit Bulls, who's to say what breed they will go after

The Reality Of Reality Television
Reality television is one of the most popular genres featured on broadcast media. Although its name
implies an honest and impartial story, reality television is one of the most–edited and manipulated
forms of television, where producers decide what is seen by the audience through their careful
selection of music, footage, camera angles, and lighting among many other important features.
Through their design choices and careful edits, producers are able to create narratives and meanings
that otherwise would not exist were a single uncut take been what was aired. One such example of a
narrative being constructed is found in episode 19 of season 8 of the hit reality television show,
Shark Tank. In this episode, a narrative about the allure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to the narration, the visuals that are shown also highlight the message that you can pull
yourself up by your bootstraps and become a successful businessperson. The beginning of the clip
features photographs of the sharks before they were well–known for their business endeavors. In
these shots, the photographs of the sharks are intentionally blurred or left uncolored as to signify
that they were at a less–fortunate time in their lives, or that they were inferior at that point in time.
As the scene progresses, and the narrator begins to talk about how the sharks became rich,
photographs and videos of a very different theme and quality are shown. In the pictures where the
sharks have become rich, the outlines of their bodies are highlighted with a sort–of mixture between
the soft–edge and glowing–edge effects found in the Photoshop image editing software. This simple
edit gives the sharks an ethereal or heavenly appearance, insinuating that they have achieved
greatness and are radiant sources of knowledge and business wisdom. What is especially interesting
to note about this particular episode is that the producers actually chose to forgo the theme song. In
order to keep the episode within its allotted amount of time, factoring in the amount of
advertisements that would be played to fill the thirty minute time slot, the iconic Shark Tank theme
was skipped in favor of the special intro. While this may not seem like a big deal on the

Product Management Using Boston Matrix Tool with Product Life Cycle Management
INTRODUCTION: Oil and gas theft and spillage along pipelines are caused by two major
phenomena: damages and ruptures. However, pipeline damages are mainly due to sabotage. Due to
diminished pipeline and aging process of the pipes there will be ruptures in pipeline. In Nigeria oil
and gas theft and spillage occurs due to a number of causes which include corrosion of pipeline and
tankers, sabotage, oil production operations and insufficient or non–functional production
equipment. Pipeline rupture is caused due to "very old and lack regular inspection and
maintenance".As a result it is causing environmental pollution and wastage of resources. To over
come this problem an Engineering Systems Development Company called Abuja Energy
Surveillance (AES) Ltd has developed a new oil and gas pipeline monitoring system using drones
and Geographic Information System. By using Boston Matrix the company has planned 10 year
strategic market share plan that focuses on making the system a market dominant in energy security
and environment pollution management for oil and gas industry sector in many countries. Boston

Definition of BCG Matrix
Boston Consulting Group (BCG) Matrix is a four celled matrix (a 2 * 2 matrix) developed by BCG,

If the question mark does not succeed in becoming the market leader, then after perhaps years of
cash consumption it will degenerate into a dog when the market growth declines. Question marks
must be analyzed carefully in order to determine whether they are worth the investment required to
grow market share.
Stars are units with a high market share in a fast–growing industry (High Market Share / High
Market Growth). The hope is that stars become the next cash cows. Sustaining the business unit's
market leadership may require extra cash, but this is worthwhile if that's what it takes for the unit to
remain a leader. When growth slows, if they have been able to maintain their category leadership
stars become cash cows, else they become dogs due to low relative market share.
As a particular industry matures and its growth slows, all business units become either cash cows or
dogs. The natural cycle for most business units is that they start as question marks, then turn into
stars. Eventually the market stops growing thus the business unit becomes a cash cow. At the end of
the cycle the cash cow turns into a dog.
The overall goal of this ranking was to help corporate analysts decide which of their business units
to fund, and how much; and which units to sell. Managers were supposed to gain perspective from
this analysis that allowed them to plan with confidence to use money generated by the cash cows to
fund the stars and, possibly, the question marks. As the

Analysis Of Adaptation Of The Military
Adaptation in the military, especially during wartime, is a known need. The adage "no plan survives
first contact" was not created because it sounds cool. It is an ominous warning that at some point
while executing your plan, you will be faced with unanticipated and unplanned for situations to
which you will have to adapt. Adaptation is a skill that must be attained, yet is very difficult to learn
and even more difficult to achieve effectively. Every military organization, regardless of nationality,
location, posture, etc., will be required to adapt and their ability to do so effectively may very well
decide their success.
Adaptation, by its very definition, requires something to change, to be altered or presented in
another form. In order to have change, you must have something to change "from", a normalcy, a
standard or regular pattern, or as the military calls it, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP's).
Tactically speaking, the use of SOP's in the development of military organizations is what permits
these organizations to develop an effective fighting force. The more knowledgeable and proficient
an organization is of executing their SOP's, the more tactically proficient they become. Through
constant and persistent training in a benign environment, each person of the organization learns and
understands their roles and responsibilities within the organization. Continued training leads to
continued improvement and ultimately to mastery of their

How Is Tethering Inhumane?

The following is a dog chaining Q&A adapted from a fact sheet compiled by the Humane Society of
the United States.
1. What does "chaining" or "tethering" mean?
Both terms refer to the practice of tying a dog to a stake or stationary object, often in the owner's
backyard, as a way of keeping the animal under control. These terms do not refer to the times when
a dog is being walked on a leash.
2. Does continuous chaining or tethering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aside from being inhumane, the practice is also a threat to the safety of the chained dog, other
animals, and humans.
3. How is tethering inhumane?
Dogs are naturally social creatures that love to interact with humans and other animals. In the wild,
dogs and wolves live with other canines. They're genetically wired to live in a group, so a dog that's
isolated in one area for hours, days, months, or even years suffers massive psychological damage.
If kept continuously chained, a normally friendly dog will become unhappy, anxious, neurotic, and
oftentimes aggressive. In many cases, the necks of chained dogs become raw and covered with sores
as a result of attempts to escape confinement, as well as improperly fitted collars. Some chained
dogs have collars embedded in their necks. They also frequently get tangled in their chains and
become unable to access food, water, and shelter.
4. Who says tethering is inhumane?
The Humane Society of the United States, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and
several animal experts. The US Department of Agriculture also issued a statement against tethering
in the July 2, 1996 Federal Register. In addition, according to the Centers for Disease Control, the
dogs most likely to attack are male, unneutered, and

Reflection Paper
Change is apart of everyday life, it is inevitable no matter what we do, but it is our choice as people
on if we want these changes to be negative or positive. A few years back, I made a promise to
myself that as I progress through life, I will always try my best to change for the better and fix
myself in areas where I fall behind, but not everyone makes the choice to be better. Some make a
choice that affects who they are in a negative way as well as hurting those closest to them, someone
I used to hang out made that decision and that caused me to change my perspective on him.
Ever since I was a young child, I enjoyed playing video games whether they be single player,
online, learning (Eh, not always so much), etc. I played online games with friends of mine and my
older brother, one of those being a guy I know named Chris. I have known Chris since I was around
11 and played online games with him and my brother all the time. His girlfriend Janelle, who later
became his wife, also joined us in playing these games. As time went on I became more and more
fond of Chris and Janelle and when I was 14 was when I visited them for the first time at their house
in Grand Rapids, and it was an absolute blast. At this time, it was more so that I was good friends
with them and my brother Christian, was off at college and didn't talk to these guys much.

The Outsiders By S.e Hinton
Have you ever been judged by people who don't really know who you are? Maybe it was because of
the way you looked, or your social class. This is a problem that occurs all too often, and it happens
everywhere. S.E Hinton, author of "The Outsiders," noticed this happening in her own
neighbourhood, so she made this a huge part of the theme of her book. She wanted people to stop
judging others before they really knew who they were, and their life circumstances. In this book
there are two main social classes she focused on, the Socs, they were rich, and lived in the nice part
of town, and the Greasers, who were poor and didn't have a great place to live. This caused them to
constantly have fights. The Socs were seen as the good ones to the cops ... Show more content on

She doesn't want him to ruin her good reputation even though Cherry knows he's not bad, She
knows not everybody understands that. She is nervous that if she does hang out with Ponyboy, and
the other Greasers, her parents will get mad at her. Additionally, her friends will betray her. It is very
unusual for Socs to hang out with Greasers, especially if they are popular. Cherry is a cheerleader,
and is one of the most popular girls in their school. If anyone sees her hanging around the Greasers,
all that could change. One night Ponyboy, and another boy from the gang, Johnny, were in the park
alone. Some Socs pulled up in a fancy car. When the Socs came after Johnny and Ponyboy, Bob, a
big time Soc, said "You know what a Greaser is...White trash with long hair." This makes Ponyboy
mad, "I felt the blood draining from my face. I 've been cussed out and sworn at, but nothing ever hit
me like that did. Johnnycake made a kind of gasp and his eyes were smoldering." This is used to
explain what Socs really think of all of the Greasers. This is why it hurt Ponyboy so much. The Socs
don't think twice about who they really. They only know them as how they want to know them, dirt.
Socs don't understand how hard life is for them, and how some of them have to live. Most of the
Greasers parents don't even care about them. When Socs beat up Greasers, they think it makes them
cool, however they don't think about how it will

Hamlet Soliloquy Analysis
In Hamlet's soliloquy in act IV scene iv, he brings up the question of "what is a man?" Hamlet does
this while looking upon the over powering army that is lead by Fortinbras. His army was passing
through Denmark to fight over an insignificant piece of land in Poland. Hamlet then thinks about his
lack of action with his mission to kill Claudius. While he is seeing this massive army marching,
going to war over something so insignificant he realizes that he must try to make his "thoughts
bloody" (4.4.64). In this soliloquy, we learn that through Hamlet's inaction he sees himself no better
than a beastly animal where he should see himself as a man that takes action into his own hands
which, makes him as the same level as the gods. Hamlet starts the soliloquy with the question,
"what is a man?" Then he says, "If his chief good and market of his time but to sleep and feed? a
beast, no more" (4.4.33–35). Hamlet sees men that eat, sleep, and repeat as taking the easy road in
life and not using any action in their lives. He believe that men that live a life of inaction lead
themselves to an early death. In Hamlet's eyes, men that eat, sleep, and repeat are no better then a
beastly animal. He hates men that live like this and believes that they are just waiting for their
deaths to come like animals do. As time goes on Hamlet realizes that he has been living a life of
inaction because of his inability to kill Claudius. Hamlet then talks about how a man looks back on
his past and learns from it. This is where a man gets his wisdom from, "Bestial oblivion, or some
craven scruple of thinking too precisely on the event, a thought which, quartered, hath but one part
wisdom" (4.4.41–43). Hamlet know that he has to avenge the death of his father but he is too
cowardly to do it "and ever three parts coward, I do not know why yet I live to say 'this thing's to
do;' Sith I have caused and will and strength and means to do't" (4.4.44–47). Hamlet realizes that he
must take actions into his own hands and kill Claudius because he has everything in his power to do
the deed. Hamlet see's Fortinbras as a man of action, which he is. He is leading his army to fight
over a small piece of insignificant land: "Truly to speak, and with

My household was chaotic, due to the many disputes that occured on a daily basis, one parent

Animals are meant to be cherished, not mistreated for sport . In animal sport the animals are trained
to do tricks and act a certain way to entertain the audience, but in order to get the animals to perform
a specific way trainers use physical tactics such as whipping and tazzing to scare the animals to
perform correctly. Forms of entertainment include dog fighting, bullfighting, horse racing,
circuses, and zoos. Most of these sports raise reasons not to use animals for such purpose. Reasons

The Rise And Fall Of Ktonos Short Story
Ktonos, by virtue of winning the grand melee, was now the rising star in the class. Defiant of
tradition, he would no longer carry a seconod blade into a fight. Both hands on the hilt of his bastard
sword, he was rapidly showing that he was a force to be reckoned with in a fight. More than a few
of his class mates were forced out of training for days at a time from injuries that he delivered. Even
enchanted to not deliver a lethal wound, Ktonos had found was to subvert this, using his pommel to
great effect, or even just his bare hands. He seemed to not be content with a fight unless it ended
with blood on his hands, his own or someone elses. And it was drawing mroe concern from the

meant he was likely outclassed in strength as well. Their reach was close with the longer blade
Ktonos bore, so he knew he was going to have to rely on speed and skill, hoping he was the better in
these regards. When the orc swung at him, it was a wide, clumsy blow, and Ktonos exploded
forward, ducking under the strike, and bringing his blade up as he moved past the foe. There was a
blur of motion as Ktonos whipped his blade around in a swift motion that pruned the arm off of the
orc, bringing the enemy weapon out of play, and then Ktonos swung one last time, the honed edge
of the sword taking his foe across the neck, slitting his throat. The beast toppled to the ground,
Ktonos stared, his eyes picking out the hot flow of blood from the neck of the orc, and he leaned
down without thinking, running his fingers through the liquid before stripping off his glove in
annoyance. He let out a slow breath as his fingers felt the hot rush of blood on his skin. He lifted it
to his tongue, tasting the bitter, acrid flavour that the orc blood contained. His head still swam at the
sensation, tasting life there, the essence of a living thing, being snuffed out by his actions. This was

Animal Products For Animals Essay
There are various animal products used for animals. Products used for animals are silk, cashmere,
and other animal products. Silk is the fiber that silkworms interlace to make cocoons. A silkworm is
a trained insect, in nature, that goes through metamorphosis. Silk is derived from the cocoons of
larvae. Approximately 3,000 silkworms die to make every pound of silk. The second animal product
is cashmere which comes from goats underbellies. The goat that has cashmere fur is commonly kept
on farms where they are dehorned and castrated and have their ears notched without anesthesia.
While on the farm young goats are killed 50 to 80 percent of the time for not having the coat that
meet standards. ("Silk, Cashmere, Shearling, and Other Animal Products Used for Clothing."PETA.

There are lots of ways people use animals for entertainment. For example people use animals as
entertainment by dogfighting, cockfighting, and also captivity. Dog fighting is a type of blood sport,
usually well–defined as conflicting two game dogs against one another in a pit or ring for the
entertainment of watchers, or the fighters also called dog men. Dog fights are often in rural areas
held in barns or outdoor pits, in urban areas, fights can take place in garage, basements, back alleys
and more. Dog fights mainly last until one dog is declared winner which occurs when one dog fails
to scratch, one dog dies or one dog jumps out the pit. The loser if not killed in the fight,

Alcohol And Violence In Townie By Andre Dubus
All towns, cities, and areas have their own specific traits. Small towns tend to be more like a family,
while big cities tend to be more passive. Then there are the small areas where people do not make
much money and struggle to get by. These areas tend to be more violent and more influenced by
drugs and alcohol. This is the area that Andre Dubus III grew up in, in his memoir Townie. His
parents were divorced and neither of them made much money so he and his two sisters and brother
ended up moving from one small crummy neighborhood to another. In these neighborhoods he
would get involved in the wrong crowds and end up doing drugs, drinking, and fighting. This
became a way to show power. The most powerful people were strong and always came ... Show

named Clay had decided that he was going to target Andre and beat him every time that he spotted
him. Eventually Andre became so sick of this and didn't have a clue what to do so he called his
father. After that his father was able to talk to Clay's father and have Clay leave Andre alone. After
that negotiation Clay and his mother came running out of their house screaming. This and the fact
that Clay hired a friend to try and beat Andre instead of himself showed Andre that the only way to
settle anything in this environment was to use a fist. Eventually Andre decided that he need learn
how to fight. This came from a need to prove himself. Not to anyone else, but to himself. He felt
like he had let his family and himself down and he needed to fix that. This came to him after he
witnessed his brother brutally beaten in front of him. He went inside and looked in the mirror and
said to himself "I don't care if you get your face beat in. I don't care if you get kicked in the head or
stabbed or even shot. I will never allow you not fight back ever again. You hear me? Ever. Not once,
ever, again," (Dubus 82). This was the real turning point for Andre. This was when his self–loathing
had hit such a low that he had nowhere to go but up. This was when he started to train. This was
when he started to become violent. He started by simply working out for

Negative Effects Of Video Games
Video games are surrounded by controversy on how they affect the health of those who play them.
Some say that video games do nothing but rot the player's brain. Others say that video games can do
the opposite and sharpen some of the player's senses. Video games can have many positive effects
on the human brain and body. Video games can Improve coordination, improve problem–solving
skills, enhances memory, improve attention and concentration, are a great source of learning,
improve the brain's speed, enhances multitasking skills, and improves social skills. One of the many
positive effects of playing video games is that they help improve the player's coordination. When a
someone plays video games they don't just start blankly at a screen like watching TV. Most video
games are full of quick time events, audio cues, and visual cues that the player has to be ready for. If
the player fails to notice these events and cues or reacts too slow they risk losing the level or making
the level harder. Eventually the player will get used to quick time events and the different cues and
will be able to quickly input the correct buttons, this will lead them to improving their reaction time.
The improvement of reaction time will ultimately improve coordination. Games like Shenmue and
God of War are both good examples for games with quick time events. Shenmue was released in
1999, and was the first game to incorporate quick time events. Not only was Shenmue was the first

Super Smash Brothers : The Roles Of Violence In Video...
Society has flourished through many waves of technology and media advancement. Technology
innovations have been expanding on the existence of video games and movies. These technical
mechanisms have been portraying violent actions to the public. Certain video games have a greater
impact on certain individuals. The violence in the video game Super Smash Bros plays a role on
influencing individuals through the moral schools of thought, effectiveness of the game, and
determining censors.
Super Smash Bros is a typical violent game from my childhood. The game starts with choosing any
of the variety characters ranging from Pikachu to Mario. As players have their character, there
becomes a decision on which arena to battle in. When the game starts, the objective of the game is
to fight and kill every character. The last man standing wins the game. The violence in Super Smash
bros can have an impact on people's understandings and behavior.
The content of Super Smash Bros may adhere to the moral theories of Subjectivism, Ethical
Egoism, Utilitarianism and Virtue Moral. Subjectivism discuses that peoples opinions are based on
feelings and emotions. The theory plays a role in Super Smash Bros by basing emotions from
winning or losing a fight. Children's opinions may determine which characters are horrible, and may
associate it with other games with the same characters. The emotions may skew the perception of
the game causing hatred toward the overall goal or people. Furthermore, it

Dog Fighting : A Type Of Bloodsport Defined As Opposing...
Dog fighting is a type of bloodsport defined as opposing two game dogs against one another in a
ring or a pit for the entertainment of the spectators or the gratification of the dogfighters. Fights are
usually staged in barns or outdoor pits, garages, basements, warehouses, abandoned buildings, back
alleys, neighborhood playgrounds, or in the streets. Worldwide, several countries have banned dog
fighting, but it is still legal in some countries like Japan, Honduras, and parts of Russia. What is Dog
Fighting? Dog fighting can be defined as a type of blood sport in which dogs are forced to fight one
another for the entertainment and profit of spectators. It is one of the most horrific forms of animal
cruelty. Fighting dogs are raised in isolation. They spend most of their lives on short, heavy chains.
The dogs are conditioned for fighting through the use of drugs, including anabolic steroids to
enhance muscle mass and encourage aggressiveness. Fighting dogs may have their ears cropped and
their tails docked close to their bodies to minimize the dog's normal body. There are about tens of
thousands of dog fighters in the U.S., forcing the dogs to train, fight and suffer every year. Even
though dog fighting is a felony in 50 states, it continues to occur in every part of the country and
community. Dog fights typically take place in a 14–20 square–foot pit designed to contain the
animals. Dog fights can last about a couple of minutes or several hours, and both

On Liberty Speech Analysis
This essay will explain Mill's view regarding freedom of expression and apply it to a modern
concern regarding hate speech. In On Liberty, Mill argues in favor of nearly unrestricted freedom of
expression in accordance with the harm principle because limiting the opinions of others hinders the
"marketplace of ideas" or clashing of views to allow for the truth to rise to the top through
refinement or exchanging false beliefs for truths. Mill explicitly states that silencing speech is an
evil that "robs the human race, posterity as well as the existing generation.... It robs those who
disagree with these silenced opinions." Mill's view is utilitarian because minimizing speech is
socially advantageous because it allows people to learn from the choices, actions, and experiences
of others. Additionally, this view is utilitarian because limiting speech would lead to even worse
harm than simply tolerating hateful or harmful speech.
The main arguments that Mill presents in favor of his view in favor of almost complete freedom of
expression. First, allowing government censorship allows for the government to act with infallibility
to what is right or true. To refuse hearing opposing opinions because the government is sure the
belief to be false is to assume that their certainty is absolute certainty. Instead, allowing for near
unlimited freedom of expression allows for the consideration of thoughts. This allows us as citizens
to evaluate and critique other government and our own governments that have been wrong in the
past. By allowing for the presentation of contrary views, we as humans can be aware of past
mistakes and come to know the truth. For example, allowing for Galileo arguing that the Earth
revolves around the Sun allowed for correcting the false belief that the Earth is at the center of the
universe. While this allowance can lead to risky behaviors, prejudices or other harms, Mill hold that
regardless, it is worth these risks and challenges because this can lead to finding truths or correcting
truths. Second, Mill argues that allowing for falsehoods to be spoken, even if wholly false, can have
some kernels of truth that lead to truths for that issue or truths of other issues. Suppressing speech
can lead to

The Importance Of Imagination In Childhood
My article talks about Cleo, who is 4 years old. Cleo came home one day from school and was
talking to her mom what she did that day and Cleo said, "we drank purple milk that came from a
purple cow." Now that's imagination. Kids that imagine things are far better off to learn quicker than
other kids. With imagination, they can picture things that they haven't seen before and put a picture
to the words. Every kid has an imagination, just that when they get older they find out that things
are exactly what they imagined. For example, the purple cow, when Cleo gets older and can
understand more her mom will tell her that the cow isn't actually purple nor is the milk. Parents find
joy in their children when they have an imagination because it shows that they have the skill to think
about things. When kids use their imagination, it is important for them to know that there is a
difference between real and pretend. "Imagination is more important than knowledge," Einstein
once said. With imagination anything is possible. The thinking cap of children is expressed through
their dynamic pretend mode. This is where kids learn more about everything in the world, is with
their imagination. Imagination encourages cognitive and social development, something every child
needs in the real world. when kids are playing with their toys, they are putting themselves in a
situation in the real world that they have no idea about because it is just their imagination taking
them somewhere.

Stand And Hit Or Ground
Stand and Hit or Ground and Submit?
Are you a good "ground fighter"? Or maybe you prefer a stand–up style of self–defense/martial
arts? In a self–defense situation (not a competition), would you try to take the fight to the ground
(grappling/wrestling), or would do your best to stay on your feet (standup/striking)? Many styles do
focus on one of these two options. Some are more standup/striking oriented like Kung Fu, Karate,
Taekwondo, and Boxing/Kick–Boxing. These rely mainly upon punches, kicks, elbow/knee and
other strikes, along with some standing grabs, pins, and even throws. Others like Brazilian Jijitsu
and Judo focus on taking the fight to the ground and winning the fight via various grappling
techniques. Of course, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One cannot know what the "arena" may be for an unknown real life encounter. Sharp objects like
glass, rocks, gravel, tools, and an endless number of other things could prove to be a serious danger
to someone "rolling around" on the ground during a fight.
More situational awareness:
A stand–up focused approach to fighting allows one to keep good situational awareness. Being
aware of one 's surroundings is always important, in any given situation in life, but that is especially
true during a self–defense event. For example, it is far easier to quickly notice a drawn weapon
while standing up on your feet.
If you go to the ground, it may provide an easy opportunity for others to join the fight...on the other
side. For instance, you may be on the ground and even in full guard, but that will leave your back
and the back of your head exposed as an easy target. One can always be attacked by multiple
opponents (regardless of posture), but one will usually fare better in such an occasion while standing
– running is often the best option here anyway.
More distance when needed:
With proper training, one can keep the fight at a longer range with powerful kicks, and an unskilled
opponent may not know how to respond to skilled kicks.

Argumentative Essay On Dog Fighting
Over the years many agree that dogs are one of the most loyal companions that people can get their
hands upon. They are willing do almost anything for their masters, hunt, cuddle, and even fight
other dogs. According to Orhan Yilmaz, dog fighting has been going on for centuries as a past time.
When a dog enters a fight, there is almost always one dog getting injured, sometimes it is so bad
that the owner of the dog carries it away in a bag to disguise it, just so the police do not see the
injured creature. Having dog fights in an area repeatedly will end up attracting more crime even
which causes only more trouble. A dog trained for fighting ends up becoming somewhat savage and

states, it needs to be tracked more and make the culprits get locked in a cell for what they have done
because it harms the dogs that are fighting, it ends up bringing more crime to the area where this
takes place, and also makes it dangerous for veterinarians to work on a dog that is now potentially a
hazard.
Oliver 1 Dog fighting always ends up harming dogs quite severely, leaving permeant marks such as
bite or claw marks which make the dog look tainted in the eyes of some, rather an animal that's
being used against its will. Dogs for fighting may be born, bought, or even stolen for the sole use of
fighting another dog. "Though different breeds are used in dog fighting, the most common breed
associated is the American Pit Bull Terrier." (Destreza 281) The dogs used for fighting get very little
compassion in their lives, living alone with only one thing being taught to them, to fight all other
animals that they see. If a dog tries to escape from a dog fight instead of fighting, the owner
normally will end up disposing of the animal. "When a dog is not successful in a fight,

How Gaming Saved My Future
Hello, My name is Marcus Paige. This is my essay on how gaming saved my future. I discovered
gaming through watching television. One show in particular that caught my attention, was called
"Nick's Video Arcade". I would really get into that show because during that time I did not own my
a console of my own. So, this was the best I could do at the time. I would also pick up gaming
magazines from time to time. I could see what was new in the gaming scene and read about future
consoles coming out. I also became a huge fan of the readers section of these magazines, since you
could send in questions and have them answered. Another thing that got me into gaming was a
family friend. I can remember as a child I would always go along with my mother to visit one of her
good friends. While I was there, her son and I would always end up playing games the whole time I
was visiting. By getting into gaming, I feel that it has helped me out in many different ways. For
example, back in high school I wasn't the smartest student. I didn't apply myself much . You could
say I was stuck inside a spiral going down–wards. I would notice that things weren't going so well,
but I really didn't bother to try or turn myself around . During my downward spiral, I would find
myself constantly making bad decisions. I would go out and party when I knew I should be at home
studying,or doing my homework assignments. I was also hanging out with people who had no care

Antigone Why People Take Action
Why should people take action? In the play "Antigone" by Sophocles Antigone takes action by
burying her brother which no one was supposed to do. She did it because she felt it was only right.
People should take action whenever they feel ,there are various reasons such as their feelings
emotionally , fairness, the good well being of others, or just whenever they deem morally correct.
There are many reasons why people should take action, for example, for fairness. Why fairness, well
because fairness is everything, a lot wouldn't be right if there were no fairness, and i feel as if
everything is fair it just makes everyone happy. So when it comes down to stepping up for fairness it
plays a big role as far as taking action because you're not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Why, simply because if you feel you are correct about a point you're trying to prove then you should
stand on it and fight for it. For instance in the play Antigone when she was arguing with creon,
basically trying to prove his laws aren't fair. I believe this connects my main point mainly because
she saw something wrong and felt something needed to be said. On top of that, people need to take
action if they feel they are correct because if you see a problem and nothing is said then stuff may
just get worse. Another example would just be continuing off Antigone standing up to creon, I feel
as if the whole situation was demoralizing for the people until Antigone, the one person who finally
decided to say something, even with her life on the line for doing what she did on the same hand
still had plenty of people behind her. This just proves that people should step up when they feel they
are correct because when you step up you then have people to support you the chances are you are
going to win. In the end the whole point of this is to just say if you think you are correct about
something that should be done then stand for it and fight for it and maybe in the end you may make

A Cultural Studies Approach to "Enemies" in The Things They Carried
Two men who fight over a jackknife in "Enemies", a chapter in Tim O'Brien's work, The Things

the meaning of the events that unfold in "Enemies". The fight over the knife could very well reflect
the events occurring in society during that time.
In short, "Enemies" is about two men, Lee Strunk and Dave Jensen, who are battling not only in a
war but with each other. They were viciously fighting about a missing jackknife. A question that the

After one considers these facts, they can begin to see why the brawl occurred. The two characters in
"Enemies" were not only fighting a war but fighting with each other. O'Brien best describes this
when he says, " No safe ground: enemies everywhere." (O'Brien 63). This means exactly what it
says. There were enemies everywhere because they were fighting with each other. There was no
where to run to, hence "No safe ground." Everywhere they looked and everywhere they were, there
was fighting. How can solders successfully fight a war when they are fighting with each other? They
cannot. They were even using guns, not just their fists. So, it was fighting two completely different
wars.

This had increased sales within the introduction thus having a high growth market and high market
share straight away with sales of 40 million within the first week. The reason for his is due to the
huge marketing campaign that Cadburys had set up which led to a global rollout of the product on
the September 24 1996 called "Fuse day".
Following from this the Fuse bar fell into the "cash cow" section. This is because everyone knew
about the Fuse Bar and recognised it. This left it with no new potential consumers. This is why they
were within this section.
Then the Fuse Bar went through the "problem child" section. This only lasted for about a month or
two. This was because no one really knows what had happened but it is suggested that the Fuse Bar
was trying to market itself more and fell into having a high growth market and a low market share.
Because the share had dropped, it had potential to grow again so they re–advertised again.
The last section that they were left it before they officially closed was the "dogs" section. This is
because after they pulled their advertisement the Fuse Bar didn't have much attention given to it,
which left it to decline within the market and not many people were buying it either. This is why
they were in this section at the end which lasted 5

Essay On Use And Value Renewable Resources
5. Use And Value Renewable Resources And Services
We all know by now that fossil fuel is unsustainable. The best way to shift to a renewable source is
to use resources and services that originate from plants, animals and the environment. It is also
important to use locally sourced material as often as possible. It makes more sense to build a stone
house on a rocky mountainside than on a barren plain. It's about using what we have around us to
the best ability rather than be a part of a consumerist society.
6. Produce No Waste

11. Use Edges And Value The Marginal
There's two meanings to this principle. The first is to accept so called bizarre ideas, keeping an open
mind to alternatives. The second is that any boundary is a place of productivity. Where the river
meets the bank for example is a hot spot of biodiversity and productivity.
12. Creatively Use And Respond To Change
Climate change is one of our largest problems, which we will have to face eventually. Similarly,
there are many things that exist today that may not tomorrow. Learning to adapt is vital to continue
living a sustainable life.
An Example Of Using The Principles
Let's consider a bio–gas drum to supply cooking gas to a household. Observe and interact by
noticing the cows feeding cycle, quantity of cow dung, location to place drum etc. Catch and store
energy by storing methane to be used as fuel for cooking. Obtain a yield in the form of cooking gas,
cow dung, pee and possibly dairy products.
Apply self regulation and accept feedback by learning from mistakes and limiting the quantity of
your yields by needs instead of wants. Use and value renewable resources and services by using an
animal based source. Produce no waste by reusing animal waste for a useful purpose. Design from
pattern to detail by starting with a goal of using bio–gas and working out details like type and size
of drum, piping etc as they are needed. Integrate rather than segregate by combing functions. Bio–

The Prevention Of Animal Cruelty Society

Society also known as PACS and we are located at 1006 Intervale Avenue Bronx NY 10457. I can
be contacted at Tina.alicea1@yahoo.com or 347–555–9999. The Prevention of Animal Cruelty
Society (PACS) requests funding to continue educating against animal cruelty. Animal cruelty in
New York is a very significant social issue because animals should have the same right to live and
be unharmed as humans and many New York households own pets. Animal cruelty consists of
numerous kinds of mistreatment such as hunting, factory farming, animal fighting as entertainment
and wearing animals.
The Prevention of Animal Cruelty Society (PACS) aims to advocate, educate, rescue and improve
the quality of life for animals by targeting people who get arrested for animal cruelty, requiring
those individuals to attend a program that instructs them on how to properly care for an animal and
provide shelter for mistreated animals. PACS advocates for animals through public policy, corporate
reforms, and major campaigns to confront national and global cruelties. As the director of this
organization, it is not easy to fix what is damaged. However, with funding and a team who is as
dedicated and passionate about saving animals as their director, there can be major success in
correcting the way the government is being viewed in the eyes of their community. PACS wants to

Animal Cruelty: Dog Fighting Essay
Animal Cruelty: Dog Fighting
Sherry LaFace
COM 220: Research Writing
January 23, 2010
Erin Fagan
Dog fighting is a very cruel thing, and it is happening right under our noses. It is illegal to fight a
dog in all fifty states. By being an observer at a dog fight, it is against the law in forty–seven states.
So why do people continue this cruel practice? The answer seems to be money. Some people who
breed dogs for fighting can sell their puppies for up to two thousand dollars. Even though fighting
dogs is making money, it is cruel since pain is inflicted on the dogs; the ASPCA and the Humane
Society are trying to prevent this with proper training. Some people might ask, "What is dog

Once the dogs prove to be ready, they are placed in the pit against larger dogs to test their
willingness or determination to face collapse and future defeat. If the dogs pass the test, they are
deemed ready to fight. When this happens, they are brought into the arenas after being washed, to
make sure they have nothing on their coats that will harm the other dogs. A pitch usually consisting
of plywood walls, about twenty feet in diameter with carpet, is where the fight will take place.
Inside of the pit there will be an indication of lines, usually marked by masking tape or paint. The
animals are brougt to the pitch by their owners. Inside the arena there will be one referee and the
two owners of the dogs. On command, the dogs will be released, they smash together like a couple
of mac trucks. They look like a wrestling match with teeth, biting one another, trying not to let go of
their opponet. The matches can last up to forty–five minutes and end when one dog can no longer
fight back because of exhaustion or death. With the horrific thought of dogs being trained to fight
and kill, the two top agencies, the ASPCA and the Humane Society, are doing what the can to try to

that are doing everything that they can to stop this cruelty to animals by arresting the people that

Dog fighting needs to have a harsher punishment because it allows owners to train their dogs in
horrible circumstances. In one case in England, there are reports of dogs and owners who come to
children's playgrounds to train the dogs to fight. In the article, it said the people make the dogs bite
on to the equipment and hang off it to strengthen their bite before the illegal fight. "I find it
absolutely astonishing that anyone is stupid enough to train fighting dogs but to do so in children's
playground shows quite remarkable levels of idiocy and selfishness. There have been to many
reports in the media of young children being seriously injured by dogs so to train a fighting dog in a
playground and to condition it to behave violently around play equipment which is used by toddlers
is one of the most despicable things that I have heard in a long time." said Chris Bond, the council
member for the Enfield council in England. There is also evidence found that dogs are forced to
train their jaws by ripping off bark from trees. This is killing trees as well as hurting their jaws. This
is why dog fighting

Analysis Of The Movie ' Facing Death '
Facing Death is a compelling documentary on, oftentimes, the final journey patients and their
families will venture through together in life. The documentary seeks to capture how the patients
and their families respond to the inevitability of death. The film includes families who respond to
the issue by allowing their family member, the patient, to pass through the door of death without
aggressive care, while there are yet other families who insist on everything being done to delay the
moment of death. This topic of fighting death is attributed with producing much debate. On one
hand are those who do not see the point of fighting death, however, on the other hand, there are
those who believe that delaying death and staying alive is what ought to be done. Personally, from
what I understand of either party, I think that I am a part of the later party. In addition, this issue
naturally delves into what one believes occurs after death, as it is an issue dealing directly with
death. This also compels me to view this topic from the viewpoint of the later party. One philosophy
that people may take on the topic of delaying the moment of death is that it is pointless and should
not be delayed beyond reason. From what I have observed, people of this philosophy do not protest
against emergency care. Rather, I think that they would only disapprove of the aggressive care that
may lessen quality of life in the patients. For example, if a patient is being sustained by a respirator,

Red Bull Rhetorical Analysis
Red Bull gives you wings, is a world–famous slogan used to sell endless energy in a can. The slogan
and advertising campaign of the Red Bull corporation uses many different marketing strategies that
utilize weasel words and misleading advertising to increase sales and fool potential customers. In
William Lutz's article, "With These Words I Can Sell You Anything," readers learn what weasel
words are; Lutz explains "Words to appear to be making a claim for a product when in fact they are
making no claim at all" (27). The term weasel word is used in the advertising industry because of
how weasel eat the eggs of unexpecting animals. New, improved and reformulated are just a few
examples of "weasel" words. That companies use to trick the American ... Show more content on

With countless reports of people being hospitalized after chugging down a Red Bull and other

Red Bull Corporation trick anyone viewing ads about Red Bull. Which is especially important to

Abuse Of Animal Abuse

  • 1. Abuse Of Animal Abuse Did you know about 10 million animals get abused and neglected every year? Circuses and Zoos are prime examples of animal abuse and neglect. Animals like tigers, elephants, dolphins, and whales should be in their natural habitat. These animals shouldn't be in small rusty cages, and crowded pools. There are also people who illegally fight animals for money; i.e. Dog fighting, cock fighting, etc. These animals fight for their lives, but the owners don't care about whether or not they die, they just want money. Animals should not be used for our entertainment. Animals are not given the choice of going into the entertainment world. People gamble on dog fighting, cock fighting, etc. Wild cats and elephants in circuses endure abuse and neglect to be taught how to jump through hoops of fire. SeaWorld neglects their animals once they get sick, and these animals are given merely any space. Animal fighting is illegal in all 50 states in the U.S. and in district Of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico. Yet animal fighting happens almost every day. Most of the animals that fight are dogs, cocks, or hogs. Dog owners like to train their dogs how to be aggressive. They chain their dog outside out of reach from other animals and people. The dogs are given basic veterinary care and nutrition because the owners care about winning, not about the dogs themselves. Some fighting dogs get steroids to enhance their muscles and increase their aggressiveness. These dogs also get legal and illegal drugs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Pitbull Discrimination In late April of 2007, Michael Vick, a star NFL quarterback, was charged with multiple felonies such as dog fighting and animal abuse when his Bad Newz Kennels was exposed for dog fighting, illegal breeding and animal cruelty. Vick had approximately 54 dogs, mostly Pit Bulls in his kennel along with blood–stained fighting area, breeding equipment and documents of him and his accomplices murdering the dogs if they lost or gave a poor performance. After this story was plastered across the media, it opened the eyes of people to Pit Bulls and what they are capable of. Every year 1.2 million dogs are euthanized each year in kennels and shelters, 40% of which are Pit Bulls. Pit Bulls have been discriminated against for the aggressive behavior that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many studies have shown that Pit Bulls are loving and loyal animals. Many have grown up with them as iconic dogs their whole lives such as Petey from the Little Rascals movie and countless famous war dogs. But after the media started to get stories of people conducting dog fights with Pit Bulls they are automatically the most aggressive dog on the earth. These animals don't get to choose if they want to fight or not, it is about survival when any dog is thrown into that situation. The people running them gamble a lot of money into these fights and when a dog loses, if the other dog hasn't killed the owners most likely will. It is no way to treat an animal and is enough to turn any dog of any breed or any person for that matter into a monster. But, just because of these unfortunate stories, all Pit Bulls are automatically considered dangerous. There are Pit Bull advocates out there that are trying to show the world that they are amazing and loving pets, but all that effort gets kicked under the rug after an irresponsible owner who neglects and poorly trains their dog, gets out and bites another dog or person, all effort is lost and the media is all over it again expressing how dangerous this breed is, just because of one irresponsible owner. This is a problem because this breed of dogs is being penalized and put down for the actions of careless humans. If this continues to happen and they ban all Pit Bulls, who's to say what breed they will go after ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Reality Of Reality Television Reality television is one of the most popular genres featured on broadcast media. Although its name implies an honest and impartial story, reality television is one of the most–edited and manipulated forms of television, where producers decide what is seen by the audience through their careful selection of music, footage, camera angles, and lighting among many other important features. Through their design choices and careful edits, producers are able to create narratives and meanings that otherwise would not exist were a single uncut take been what was aired. One such example of a narrative being constructed is found in episode 19 of season 8 of the hit reality television show, Shark Tank. In this episode, a narrative about the allure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to the narration, the visuals that are shown also highlight the message that you can pull yourself up by your bootstraps and become a successful businessperson. The beginning of the clip features photographs of the sharks before they were well–known for their business endeavors. In these shots, the photographs of the sharks are intentionally blurred or left uncolored as to signify that they were at a less–fortunate time in their lives, or that they were inferior at that point in time. As the scene progresses, and the narrator begins to talk about how the sharks became rich, photographs and videos of a very different theme and quality are shown. In the pictures where the sharks have become rich, the outlines of their bodies are highlighted with a sort–of mixture between the soft–edge and glowing–edge effects found in the Photoshop image editing software. This simple edit gives the sharks an ethereal or heavenly appearance, insinuating that they have achieved greatness and are radiant sources of knowledge and business wisdom. What is especially interesting to note about this particular episode is that the producers actually chose to forgo the theme song. In order to keep the episode within its allotted amount of time, factoring in the amount of advertisements that would be played to fill the thirty minute time slot, the iconic Shark Tank theme was skipped in favor of the special intro. If the question mark does not succeed in becoming the market leader, then after perhaps years of cash consumption it will degenerate into a dog when the market growth declines. Question marks must be analyzed carefully in order to determine whether they are worth the investment required to grow market share. Stars are units with a high market share in a fast–growing industry (High Market Share / High Market Growth). The hope is that stars become the next cash cows. Sustaining the business unit's market leadership may require extra cash, but this is worthwhile if that's what it takes for the unit to remain a leader. When growth slows, if they have been able to maintain their category leadership stars become cash cows, else they become dogs due to low relative market share. As a particular industry matures and its growth slows, all business units become either cash cows or dogs. The natural cycle for most business units is that they start as question marks, then turn into stars. Eventually the market stops growing thus the business unit becomes a cash cow. At the end of

  • 10. Analysis Of Adaptation Of The Military Adaptation in the military, especially during wartime, is a known need. The adage "no plan survives first contact" was not created because it sounds cool. It is an ominous warning that at some point while executing your plan, you will be faced with unanticipated and unplanned for situations to which you will have to adapt. Adaptation is a skill that must be attained, yet is very difficult to learn and even more difficult to achieve effectively. Every military organization, regardless of nationality, location, posture, etc., will be required to adapt and their ability to do so effectively may very well decide their success. Adaptation, by its very definition, requires something to change, to be altered or presented in another form. In order to have change, you must have something to change "from", a normalcy, a standard or regular pattern, or as the military calls it, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP's). Tactically speaking, the use of SOP's in the development of military organizations is what permits these organizations to develop an effective fighting force. The more knowledgeable and proficient an organization is of executing their SOP's, the more tactically proficient they become. Through constant and persistent training in a benign environment, each person of the organization learns and understands their roles and responsibilities within the organization. Continued training leads to continued improvement and ultimately to mastery of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What does "chaining" or "tethering" mean? Both terms refer to the practice of tying a dog to a stake or stationary object, often in the owner's backyard, as a way of keeping the animal under control. These terms do not refer to the times when a dog is being walked on a leash. 2. Does continuous chaining or tethering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Aside from being inhumane, the practice is also a threat to the safety of the chained dog, other animals, and humans. 3. How is tethering inhumane? Dogs are naturally social creatures that love to interact with humans and other animals. In the wild, dogs and wolves live with other canines. They're genetically wired to live in a group, so a dog that's isolated in one area for hours, days, months, or even years suffers massive psychological damage. If kept continuously chained, a normally friendly dog will become unhappy, anxious, neurotic, and oftentimes aggressive. In many cases, the necks of chained dogs become raw and covered with sores as a result of attempts to escape confinement, as well as improperly fitted collars. Some chained dogs have collars embedded in their necks. They also frequently get tangled in their chains and become unable to access food, water, and shelter. 4. Who says tethering is inhumane? The Humane Society of the United States, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and several animal experts. The US Department of Agriculture also issued a statement against tethering

A few years back, I made a promise to myself that as I progress through life, I will always try my best to change for the better and fix myself in areas where I fall behind, but not everyone makes the choice to be better. Some make a choice that affects who they are in a negative way as well as hurting those closest to them, someone I used to hang out made that decision and that caused me to change my perspective on him. Ever since I was a young child, I enjoyed playing video games whether they be single player, online, learning (Eh, not always so much), etc. I played online games with friends of mine and my older brother, one of those being a guy I know named Chris. I have known Chris since I was around 11 and played online games with him and my brother all the time. His girlfriend Janelle, who later became his wife, also joined us in playing these games. As time went on I became more and more fond of Chris and Janelle and when I was 14 was when I visited them for the first time at their house in Grand Rapids, and it was an absolute blast. At this time, it was more so that I was good friends with them and my brother Christian, was off at college and didn't talk to these guys much. • 14. The Outsiders By S.e Hinton Have you ever been judged by people who don't really know who you are? Maybe it was because of the way you looked, or your social class. This is a problem that occurs all too often, and it happens everywhere. S.E Hinton, author of "The Outsiders," noticed this happening in her own neighbourhood, so she made this a huge part of the theme of her book. She wanted people to stop judging others before they really knew who they were, and their life circumstances. In this book there are two main social classes she focused on, the Socs, they were rich, and lived in the nice part of town, and the Greasers, who were poor and didn't have a great place to live. This caused them to constantly have fights. The Socs were seen as the good ones to the cops ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is very unusual for Socs to hang out with Greasers, especially if they are popular. Cherry is a cheerleader, and is one of the most popular girls in their school. If anyone sees her hanging around the Greasers, all that could change. One night Ponyboy, and another boy from the gang, Johnny, were in the park alone. Some Socs pulled up in a fancy car. When the Socs came after Johnny and Ponyboy, Bob, a big time Soc, said "You know what a Greaser is...White trash with long hair." This makes Ponyboy mad, "I felt the blood draining from my face. I 've been cussed out and sworn at, but nothing ever hit me like that did. Johnnycake made a kind of gasp and his eyes were smoldering." This is used to explain what Socs really think of all of the Greasers. This is why it hurt Ponyboy so much. The Socs don't think twice about who they really. They only know them as how they want to know them, dirt. Socs don't understand how hard life is for them, and how some of them have to live. Most of the Greasers parents don't even care about them. • 15. Hamlet Soliloquy Analysis In Hamlet's soliloquy in act IV scene iv, he brings up the question of "what is a man?" Hamlet does this while looking upon the over powering army that is lead by Fortinbras. His army was passing through Denmark to fight over an insignificant piece of land in Poland. Hamlet then thinks about his lack of action with his mission to kill Claudius. While he is seeing this massive army marching, going to war over something so insignificant he realizes that he must try to make his "thoughts bloody" (4.4.64). In this soliloquy, we learn that through Hamlet's inaction he sees himself no better than a beastly animal where he should see himself as a man that takes action into his own hands which, makes him as the same level as the gods. Hamlet starts the soliloquy with the question, "what is a man?" Then he says, "If his chief good and market of his time but to sleep and feed? a beast, no more" (4.4.33–35). Hamlet sees men that eat, sleep, and repeat as taking the easy road in life and not using any action in their lives. He believe that men that live a life of inaction lead themselves to an early death. In Hamlet's eyes, men that eat, sleep, and repeat are no better then a beastly animal. He hates men that live like this and believes that they are just waiting for their deaths to come like animals do. As time goes on Hamlet realizes that he has been living a life of inaction because of his inability to kill Claudius. Hamlet then talks about how a man looks back on his past and learns from it. This is where a man gets his wisdom from, "Bestial oblivion, or some craven scruple of thinking too precisely on the event, a thought which, quartered, hath but one part wisdom" (4.4.41–43). Hamlet know that he has to avenge the death of his father but he is too cowardly to do it "and ever three parts coward, I do not know why yet I live to say 'this thing's to do;' Sith I have caused and will and strength and means to do't" (4.4.44–47). Hamlet realizes that he must take actions into his own hands and kill Claudius because he has everything in his power to do the deed. Hamlet see's Fortinbras as a man of action, which he is. When the orc swung at him, it was a wide, clumsy blow, and Ktonos exploded forward, ducking under the strike, and bringing his blade up as he moved past the foe. There was a blur of motion as Ktonos whipped his blade around in a swift motion that pruned the arm off of the orc, bringing the enemy weapon out of play, and then Ktonos swung one last time, the honed edge of the sword taking his foe across the neck, slitting his throat. The beast toppled to the ground, Ktonos stared, his eyes picking out the hot flow of blood from the neck of the orc, and he leaned down without thinking, running his fingers through the liquid before stripping off his glove in annoyance. • 20. Animal Products For Animals Essay There are various animal products used for animals. Products used for animals are silk, cashmere, and other animal products. Silk is the fiber that silkworms interlace to make cocoons. A silkworm is a trained insect, in nature, that goes through metamorphosis. Silk is derived from the cocoons of larvae. Approximately 3,000 silkworms die to make every pound of silk. The second animal product is cashmere which comes from goats underbellies. The goat that has cashmere fur is commonly kept on farms where they are dehorned and castrated and have their ears notched without anesthesia. While on the farm young goats are killed 50 to 80 percent of the time for not having the coat that meet standards. ("Silk, Cashmere, Shearling, and Other Animal Products Used for Clothing."PETA. Fights are usually staged in barns or outdoor pits, garages, basements, warehouses, abandoned buildings, back alleys, neighborhood playgrounds, or in the streets. Worldwide, several countries have banned dog fighting, but it is still legal in some countries like Japan, Honduras, and parts of Russia. What is Dog Fighting? Dog fighting can be defined as a type of blood sport in which dogs are forced to fight one another for the entertainment and profit of spectators. It is one of the most horrific forms of animal cruelty. Fighting dogs are raised in isolation. They spend most of their lives on short, heavy chains. The dogs are conditioned for fighting through the use of drugs, including anabolic steroids to enhance muscle mass and encourage aggressiveness. • 28. On Liberty Speech Analysis This essay will explain Mill's view regarding freedom of expression and apply it to a modern concern regarding hate speech. In On Liberty, Mill argues in favor of nearly unrestricted freedom of expression in accordance with the harm principle because limiting the opinions of others hinders the "marketplace of ideas" or clashing of views to allow for the truth to rise to the top through refinement or exchanging false beliefs for truths. Mill explicitly states that silencing speech is an evil that "robs the human race, posterity as well as the existing generation.... It robs those who disagree with these silenced opinions." Mill's view is utilitarian because minimizing speech is socially advantageous because it allows people to learn from the choices, actions, and experiences of others. Additionally, this view is utilitarian because limiting speech would lead to even worse harm than simply tolerating hateful or harmful speech. The main arguments that Mill presents in favor of his view in favor of almost complete freedom of expression. First, allowing government censorship allows for the government to act with infallibility to what is right or true. To refuse hearing opposing opinions because the government is sure the belief to be false is to assume that their certainty is absolute certainty. Instead, allowing for near unlimited freedom of expression allows for the consideration of thoughts. This allows us as citizens to evaluate and critique other government and our own governments that have been wrong in the past. By allowing for the presentation of contrary views, we as humans can be aware of past mistakes and come to know the truth. For example, allowing for Galileo arguing that the Earth revolves around the Sun allowed for correcting the false belief that the Earth is at the center of the universe. While this allowance can lead to risky behaviors, prejudices or other harms, Mill hold that regardless, it is worth these risks and challenges because this can lead to finding truths or correcting truths. Second, Mill argues that allowing for falsehoods to be spoken, even if wholly false, can have some kernels of truth that lead to truths for that issue or truths of other issues. Suppressing speech can lead to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. The Importance Of Imagination In Childhood My article talks about Cleo, who is 4 years old. Cleo came home one day from school and was talking to her mom what she did that day and Cleo said, "we drank purple milk that came from a purple cow." Now that's imagination. Kids that imagine things are far better off to learn quicker than other kids. With imagination, they can picture things that they haven't seen before and put a picture to the words. Every kid has an imagination, just that when they get older they find out that things are exactly what they imagined. For example, the purple cow, when Cleo gets older and can understand more her mom will tell her that the cow isn't actually purple nor is the milk. Parents find joy in their children when they have an imagination because it shows that they have the skill to think about things. When kids use their imagination, it is important for them to know that there is a difference between real and pretend. "Imagination is more important than knowledge," Einstein once said. With imagination anything is possible. The thinking cap of children is expressed through their dynamic pretend mode. This is where kids learn more about everything in the world, is with their imagination. Imagination encourages cognitive and social development, something every child needs in the real world. when kids are playing with their toys, they are putting themselves in a situation in the real world that they have no idea about because it is just their imagination taking them somewhere. ... • 30. Stand And Hit Or Ground Stand and Hit or Ground and Submit? Are you a good "ground fighter"? Or maybe you prefer a stand–up style of self–defense/martial arts? In a self–defense situation (not a competition), would you try to take the fight to the ground (grappling/wrestling), or would do your best to stay on your feet (standup/striking)? Many styles do focus on one of these two options. Some are more standup/striking oriented like Kung Fu, Karate, Taekwondo, and Boxing/Kick–Boxing. These rely mainly upon punches, kicks, elbow/knee and other strikes, along with some standing grabs, pins, and even throws. Others like Brazilian Jijitsu and Judo focus on taking the fight to the ground and winning the fight via various grappling techniques. Of course, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One cannot know what the "arena" may be for an unknown real life encounter. Sharp objects like glass, rocks, gravel, tools, and an endless number of other things could prove to be a serious danger to someone "rolling around" on the ground during a fight. More situational awareness: A stand–up focused approach to fighting allows one to keep good situational awareness. Being aware of one 's surroundings is always important, in any given situation in life, but that is especially true during a self–defense event. For example, it is far easier to quickly notice a drawn weapon while standing up on your feet. If you go to the ground, it may provide an easy opportunity for others to join the fight...on the other side. For instance, you may be on the ground and even in full guard, but that will leave your back and the back of your head exposed as an easy target. One can always be attacked by multiple opponents (regardless of posture), but one will usually fare better in such an occasion while standing – running is often the best option here anyway. More distance when needed: With proper training, one can keep the fight at a longer range with powerful kicks, and an unskilled opponent may not know how to respond to skilled kicks. ... • 31. Argumentative Essay On Dog Fighting Over the years many agree that dogs are one of the most loyal companions that people can get their hands upon. They are willing do almost anything for their masters, hunt, cuddle, and even fight other dogs. According to Orhan Yilmaz, dog fighting has been going on for centuries as a past time. When a dog enters a fight, there is almost always one dog getting injured, sometimes it is so bad that the owner of the dog carries it away in a bag to disguise it, just so the police do not see the injured creature. Having dog fights in an area repeatedly will end up attracting more crime even which causes only more trouble. (ASPCA) Even though dog fighting is considered a felony in all fifty states, it needs to be tracked more and make the culprits get locked in a cell for what they have done because it harms the dogs that are fighting, it ends up bringing more crime to the area where this takes place, and also makes it dangerous for veterinarians to work on a dog that is now potentially a hazard. Oliver 1 Dog fighting always ends up harming dogs quite severely, leaving permeant marks such as bite or claw marks which make the dog look tainted in the eyes of some, rather an animal that's being used against its will. Dogs for fighting may be born, bought, or even stolen for the sole use of fighting another dog. "Though different breeds are used in dog fighting, the most common breed associated is the American Pit Bull Terrier." (Destreza 281) The dogs used for fighting get very little compassion in their lives, living alone with only one thing being taught to them, to fight all other animals that they see. If a dog tries to escape from a dog fight instead of fighting, the owner normally will end up disposing of the animal. "When a dog is not successful in a fight, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. How Gaming Saved My Future Hello, My name is Marcus Paige. This is my essay on how gaming saved my future. I discovered gaming through watching television. One show in particular that caught my attention, was called "Nick's Video Arcade". I would really get into that show because during that time I did not own my a console of my own. So, this was the best I could do at the time. I would also pick up gaming magazines from time to time. I could see what was new in the gaming scene and read about future consoles coming out. I also became a huge fan of the readers section of these magazines, since you could send in questions and have them answered. Another thing that got me into gaming was a family friend. I can remember as a child I would always go along with my mother to visit one of her good friends. While I was there, her son and I would always end up playing games the whole time I was visiting. By getting into gaming, I feel that it has helped me out in many different ways. For example, back in high school I wasn't the smartest student. I didn't apply myself much . You could say I was stuck inside a spiral going down–wards. I would notice that things weren't going so well, but I really didn't bother to try or turn myself around . During my downward spiral, I would find myself constantly making bad decisions. I would go out and party when I knew I should be at home studying,or doing my homework assignments. I was also hanging out with people who had no care about my academic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She did it because she felt it was only right. People should take action whenever they feel ,there are various reasons such as their feelings emotionally , fairness, the good well being of others, or just whenever they deem morally correct. There are many reasons why people should take action, for example, for fairness. Why fairness, well because fairness is everything, a lot wouldn't be right if there were no fairness, and i feel as if everything is fair it just makes everyone happy. Why, simply because if you feel you are correct about a point you're trying to prove then you should stand on it and fight for it. For instance in the play Antigone when she was arguing with creon, basically trying to prove his laws aren't fair. I believe this connects my main point mainly because she saw something wrong and felt something needed to be said. On top of that, people need to take action if they feel they are correct because if you see a problem and nothing is said then stuff may just get worse. Another example would just be continuing off Antigone standing up to creon, I feel as if the whole situation was demoralizing for the people until Antigone, the one person who finally decided to say something, even with her life on the line for doing what she did on the same hand still had plenty of people behind her. This just proves that people should step up when they feel they are correct because when you step up you then have people to support you the chances are you are going to win. In the end the whole point of this is to just say if you think you are correct about something that should be done then stand for it and fight for it and maybe in the end you may make a ... This means exactly what it says. There were enemies everywhere because they were fighting with each other. There was no where to run to, hence "No safe ground." Everywhere they looked and everywhere they were, there was fighting. How can solders successfully fight a war when they are fighting with each other? They cannot. This had increased sales within the introduction thus having a high growth market and high market share straight away with sales of 40 million within the first week. The reason for his is due to the huge marketing campaign that Cadburys had set up which led to a global rollout of the product on the September 24 1996 called "Fuse day". Following from this the Fuse bar fell into the "cash cow" section. This is because everyone knew about the Fuse Bar and recognised it. This left it with no new potential consumers. This is why they were within this section. Then the Fuse Bar went through the "problem child" section. This only lasted for about a month or two. This was because no one really knows what had happened but it is suggested that the Fuse Bar was trying to market itself more and fell into having a high growth market and a low market share. Because the share had dropped, it had potential to grow again so they re–advertised again. The last section that they were left it before they officially closed was the "dogs" section. The best way to shift to a renewable source is to use resources and services that originate from plants, animals and the environment. It is also important to use locally sourced material as often as possible. It makes more sense to build a stone house on a rocky mountainside than on a barren plain. Obtain a yield in the form of cooking gas, cow dung, pee and possibly dairy products. A pitch usually consisting of plywood walls, about twenty feet in diameter with carpet, is where the fight will take place. Inside of the pit there will be an indication of lines, usually marked by masking tape or paint. The animals are brougt to the pitch by their owners. The documentary seeks to capture how the patients and their families respond to the inevitability of death. The film includes families who respond to the issue by allowing their family member, the patient, to pass through the door of death without aggressive care, while there are yet other families who insist on everything being done to delay the moment of death. This topic of fighting death is attributed with producing much debate. On one hand are those who do not see the point of fighting death, however, on the other hand, there are those who believe that delaying death and staying alive is what ought to be done. Personally, from what I understand of either party, I think that I am a part of the later party. In addition, this issue naturally delves into what one believes occurs after death, as it is an issue dealing directly with death. This also compels me to view this topic from the viewpoint of the later party. One philosophy that people may take on the topic of delaying the moment of death is that it is pointless and should not be delayed beyond reason. From what I have observed, people of this philosophy do not protest against emergency care. Rather, I think that they would only disapprove of the aggressive care that may lessen quality of life in the patients. For example, if a patient is being sustained by a respirator, but ...
