Norman Rockwell was an American illustrator famous for his covers of The Saturday Evening Post. He was born in New York City in 1894 and studied art at The Art Students League, where he learned illustration. Rockwell painted covers for The Saturday Evening Post for nearly 50 years, creating over 300 covers that were considered the "greatest show window in America" for their depictions of American life. He is also known for his series of paintings called the Four Freedoms that were inspired by President Roosevelt's 1941 State of the Union address.
