Minimalism in art refers to a period from the 1950’s to the 1970’s and is characterized by its simplicity in form and content. This artwork removes personal expression in order to achieve creating objects of interest and beauty. Minimalist artists of the 20 th  century were reacting to Abstract Expressionism, which are found on stark canvases and sculptures.
