•   Avedon was born in New York City, to a

    Jewish Russian family.

•   He died in San Antonio, Texas at the age

    photographer.

•   Richard Avedon contributed most of his

    photographs and work to Vogue magazine

    and Life magazine and Harper’s Bazaar.
Richard Avedon was born in a Russian Jewish family, in New
  York. He was born on (May 15, 1923 – October 1, 2004).
Richard studied philosophy in college at Columbia University
but dropped out in 1941 to serve in the US Merchant Marines
  photographic section. When he returned from service he
   worked as a photographer in a department store and
studied photography with Alexey Brodovitch at The Design
Laboratory, New School for Social Research in New York City.

  work, Avedon began to
 branch out and started to
  photograph patients of
 mental hospitals, the Civil
    Rights Movement in
  1963, protesters of the
 Vietnam War, and later in
his career, he shot pictures
  of the fall of the Berlin
      Wall. During this
    period, Avedon also
created two famous sets of
 portraits of The Beatles, a
 popular band back in the
           1960s.

 died of a brain hemorrhage
in San Antonio, Texas, while
 shooting an assignment for
  The New Yorker. A brain
   hemorrhage is a type of
  stroke. At the time of his
 death, he was also working
    on a new project titled
 Democracy to focus on the
   run-up to the 2004 U.S.
     presidential election.
