The student observed a Grade 7 Filipino class at Brother Martin Simpson Laboratory School. The lesson focused on "Pokus ng Pandiwa". The classroom environment was conducive to learning. Instructional materials included a Filipino textbook. Learning activities included a quiz to test students' understanding of sentence structures. How do the varying social interactions help attain the vision-mission of the college?

Student-to-student interaction pattern
When students are interacting with their classmates, you can really see that they know each
other because they call their classmates with their names. If they don’t know the answer of the
question given by their teacher, the other one will help. Students are naturally talkative. They
even talk nonsense things which are not part of the discussion. They usually talk about their
assignments, quizzes and others.

Student-to-teacher interaction pattern
In terms of student to teacher interaction, respect is present and you can really see that in
their actions and on how they will approach their teachers. Students call them “miss” or “sir” or
“teacher”, especially when they have something to ask, to request or to clarify something. They
were polite to their teachers for they greeted them even outside their respective rooms. They do
believe on what their teacher told them to do.

Teacher-to-school head interaction pattern
Teachers were really respectful to their school head. They always bear into their minds
that the person in front of them has the higher rank than them and also he/she is older than them.
When they went to the office of the school head, they knock and greeted first before entering the
office. The way they approach their school head is appropriate in their position.

Student-to-non-teaching personnel pattern
The students were really considerate and respectful in terms of communicating with the
non-teaching personnel. The interaction was great sinced students treated them well and fairly
regardless of their position. When they met a non-teaching personal they called them “ate” or
“kuya” when it is older than them. In the canteen, when they need to buy something they usually
wait for their turn and asked them in respectful manner.

Teacher-to-teacher interaction pattern
For teacher-to-teacher interaction, you can really see in them the value of professionalism.
They called each other sir, ma’am, teacher or miss. As I observed, they are really comfortable
with each other and they even teased each other. They treated each other fairly. They even
exchanged greetings when they cross roads and you can see that respect is always present.
Enrichment Activity
Create a scenario where any of the above interactions occur in the school. Make a script
of their dialogue, bearing in mind the school vision-mission.
Mariel a grade- 8 student took her lunch break in the auditorium. Sinced she was done eating her
lunch, she planned to scan and studied her previous lessons. Suddenly, one of her classmates sat
beside her. Her classmate asked for a favor if she could borrow her notes about their previous
lesson sinced she was absent at that time.

Lianne: Can I ask you a favor? Can I borroe your notes about your discussion last meeting?
Mariel: Yah sure. Here, take a look at my notes.
Lianne: Thanks Mariel.
Mariel: Your welcome Lianne. Look!Sir Jade is coming. Approach him.
Lianne: Okay, wait. Just a second Mariel. I’ll be right back.

After 3 minutes, Lianne came back and happily telling Mariel that Sir Jade understood her.

community for the economically poor children in the community aims to provide the less

Based on the vision of the school stated above, the part of the school’s vision that relates to the
intentions of their curriculum is, they provide the learners opportunities to acquire knowledge,
develop the students skills and abilities, exercise the learner’s critical and logical decisionmaking as an active member of their society by giving and providing them different activities
and programs that are relevant.
Brother Martin Simpson Laboratory School, is a school for students who are financially unstable
who have the desire to study and accomplish thier goals. Also, the school did not focus on the
development of cognitive aspect of the student but as well as physical, social and spiritual aspect.

every subject. In this, the students would be able to join any clubs that they want that
would really help them in their studies and academics. Brother Martin Simpson
Laboratory School also conduct tutorials to the students that will really help improve the
performance of the students.

Knowing this fact, it is big privilege for me as an education student because the teachers
especially the school heads could not do things right away just because they want it, but rather

vision-mission statement.
As I go through with my field study at Brother Martin Simpson Laboratory School, I
realized that in making some activities, it should be aligned or based with the vision and mission
of the school in order for the teachers to attain the objectives and goals they’ve created. In
