Text – The colour of the text on this
post is plain white, with hints of of the
dark blue tint over the whole poster. I
believe this is to help symbolize; the
cold heartedness of war, as well as the
dark storm which is placed above
them, showing nature still is the
strongest power even to soldiers as it
cant be controlled.

Flags of our Fathers Analysis

Connotations – The connotations
from the flag firstly helps represent
patriarchy for the country they come from
and reinstates why they’re there, but it also
could be showing the struggle in which
comes with war due to the flag being tilted
and 4 of them trying to stand it up.

shot, can end a war) is written
above the main title, and
emphasizes the power of a single
bullet, which could relate to killing
a leader of the certain army or
country leader and if he was shot
it would all just end it all. It can
also simply refer to the loss of a
life through one bullet, that it can
all be ended in a glance, which is
emotionally powerful, in
connection to the reality of war.

Target Audience – I believe that
the target audience for this posters
ranges from people aged at early
adults (20) upwards, due to the
majority of the war and the way in
which the poster is presented as dim
and its trying to portray the harsh
realities of war throughout the
colour scheme and images used.

Background -The posters photo is
set on top of what appear to be a large
hill / cliff that’s overlooking the sea
Its mainly dominated by the towering
clouds taking up the majority of the
picture, which could be showing how
insignificant we are on this planet, as
there’s other aspects on this planet even
the toughest soldier cant stop.

Purpose - The purpose of this
poster is to try draw attention to
itself by using deep and powerful
images in order to attract its target
audience to be intrigued to watch the
film.

My opinion – I believe this
poster is effective in portraying
the connotations of dullness
and bloodshed that war comes
with, I like the way that the
weather is used to help create a
stronger impact of power.

Tagline – The tagline (A single

Text - Here are the name of the production and
distribution companies with the actors. This follows the
conventions of most posters promoting films using the
font steel tongs.
Layout -The layout of the poster
slightly subverts the conventions by
having the title at the bottom,
leaving the main focus being on the
three actors taking up the centre of
the poster, however the tagline, text
credit/production names and when
the films released are all in the same
area.
Tagline – The tagline for the
film is “I cherish the lives of men
with whom I serve…” The tagline
is alone at the top of the poster
just above the 3 soldiers. The
words used are powerful and
relatable to any of those that
have served In the forces. It can
also link to the character in the
middle who is just stating there
lives should be cherished the
same as his even though he may
be a higher rank.

Saints And Soldiers
Airborne Creed
Analysis

In my opinion I believe
that this poster is extremely effective due to
many factors, firstly the icons of power shown
within this clip through the tanks and planes,
helps set the scene of a war related film,
which is instantly relatable to the target
audience if they was to glance at this poster.
Also the representation of the soldiers
through the use of mise en scene makes it
look professional and realistic which is ideal
for the intended genre.

Background

Text – The main title of the
film has a blend of white and
murky browns mixed, to give
it a more rugged effect, which
is iconic of the world wars
due to the majority of the
fighting being in abandoned
fields and desolate areas.
Also along two sides of the
word and are 2 red stripes,
which is linked into the war
sub genre I am analysis, due
to them representing
features along the lines of
blood and death.

My opinion -

Icons - There are many iconic features in this poster,
firstly the tank in the background is a key feature of war
and is easily relatable to anyone who was to just glance
at the poster. Also the planes flying over the men at the
top give a clear representation of war and dominance,
being another iconic feature of war.

- the background for
this poster has a lot to talk about, firstly
ill start of with the 3 character in the
centre, the actor with the shaven head is
obviously the main character due to him
being in the centre and closest to us in
our view, he shows a good
representation of the genre through his
mise en scene, the costume he is wearing
has, full webbing, boots, combat trousers
and jacket, extra itinerary, helmet and a
weapon. All of these help the viewer
acknowledge what type of genre and
theme this film is about, as all the items
are iconic to soldiers. The other two
actors follow the same conventions as
the one listed above, they are wearing
the same costume and are both in a
combat stance.
