   Our media product follows the main codes and
    conventions of most horror films, including an antagonist
    ( The spiritual demon) which is stalking the protagonist
    ( Me, the male actor in the house)
   I believe that the film managed to achieve these to
    features effectively and still maintaining originality
    appealing to the viewer.
Usually when you think of a victim you stereotypically
assume it’s probably a female, in distress being chased by
someone of the male gender that is perceived to have
more strength, power and dominance over the opposite
sex. However in my opening I have switched to the male
being the victim, this not only varies it up adding a unique
element to the film it also allows males to relate to the
situation as females can in stereotypical horror films
increasing realism to both genders.
   The antagonist in the opening scene
    is portrayed as a stereotypical
    unknown figure, you don’t actually see
    what this figure is or looks like leaving
    you confused and wanting to ask
    questions, but everyone knows the
    fear of the unknown is extremely
    effective in achieving a scary film as
    everybody around the world can
    relate.
   As stated earlier females aged 20+ are
    usually the main cast characters in horror
    films that are being chased or hurt. In our
    film we have got a stereotypical teenager
    aged 17, the costumes used can relate to
    the majority of teenagers aged 14 – 19
    and opens up a new appeal for the film
    as teenagers are not usually main actors
    within horror films so it will add interest
    and realism to them.
   Prisoners – Prisoners are an obvious choice within
    horror films as they always seem to have a motive
    or just physiologically want to cause others pain.
    For example when a prisoner escapes or is
    released from jail after serving there sentence
    they often do something seriously horrific.

Evaluation Question 2- Jack Jones

  • 2. Our media product follows the main codes and conventions of most horror films, including an antagonist ( The spiritual demon) which is stalking the protagonist ( Me, the male actor in the house)  I believe that the film managed to achieve these to features effectively and still maintaining originality appealing to the viewer.
  • 3. Usually when you think of a victim you stereotypically assume it’s probably a female, in distress being chased by someone of the male gender that is perceived to have more strength, power and dominance over the opposite sex. However in my opening I have switched to the male being the victim, this not only varies it up adding a unique element to the film it also allows males to relate to the situation as females can in stereotypical horror films increasing realism to both genders.
  • 4. The antagonist in the opening scene is portrayed as a stereotypical unknown figure, you don’t actually see what this figure is or looks like leaving you confused and wanting to ask questions, but everyone knows the fear of the unknown is extremely effective in achieving a scary film as everybody around the world can relate.
  • 5. As stated earlier females aged 20+ are usually the main cast characters in horror films that are being chased or hurt. In our film we have got a stereotypical teenager aged 17, the costumes used can relate to the majority of teenagers aged 14 – 19 and opens up a new appeal for the film as teenagers are not usually main actors within horror films so it will add interest and realism to them.
  • 6. Prisoners – Prisoners are an obvious choice within horror films as they always seem to have a motive or just physiologically want to cause others pain. For example when a prisoner escapes or is released from jail after serving there sentence they often do something seriously horrific.
