The film fits some conventions of film noir such as the main character wearing a suit and picking up a gun from a drawer. However, it also challenges conventions by being filmed in color rather than black and white, and having a male femme fatale character rather than a female one. Overall, the film is considered a borderline hybrid that combines elements of modern film noir with horror. The conventions used were influenced by other classic films noir like Sunset Boulevard and Se7en.

The props that we used in our film fitted our film noir
convention such as our main character wearing a suit and also
there was the scene where the character picks up the gun from
the drawer this fitted our conventions, as these are typical
things that we would see in typical film noir. Also our
characters are also fitted to film noir convention we have our
main character who was the detective with a troubled past and
there was also the femme fatale. The troubled detective is a
typical character to see however our femme fatale challenges
the convention, as our femme fatale is actually a man, which is
not typical at all.
Our film challenges the conventions in some ways such as the
way that our film was filmed. Typical noir films are filmed in
black and white where as our film was filmed in full colour.
There was also the character of the femme fatale, which is
typically a female in noir films where as our films femme fatale
character is male personally as a group we believe that our film
puts a modern twist on the genre.
The conventions in our film shows that the our film was a
borderline hybrid as we have mixed a modern film noir and also
a horror as it has horror elements
The conventions of our film does show what films we were
influenced by the use of suit came from many films such as
sunset boulevard and also the scene were the character picks
up the gun this was inspired by the film se7en
