DOCUMENTARY PACKAGE

How does your product use or challenges the
conventions of other documentaries?
Camera Angles:
• Most of my camera angles were
similar to those present in
documentaries.
• But, majority of the angles
were WIDE SHOT and MID SHOT.
This product is the documentary
showing you and telling about CHILD
LABOUR. It emphasizes on the
current situation of our society
where children are made to do work
at a very small age.
One thing I realized about my
product is that, it is the combination
of two different time of
documentaries, observational and
expository.
 When it comes to observational,
the conventions I followed are:
• It have short interviews
• There is a use of actual recording-
real events
• The background sound is
synchronous
• There is a use of natural
lightening, throughout.
And when it
comes to
conventions for
expository
documentary,
they are:
• Use of voice over
• Use of images,
text and titles
• Editing
How does your product engage with audiences and would it
be distributed as a real media text?
The target audience for my product is the general audience and with this documentary it is able to engage with
the audience by showing them and make them aware of the current situation of our society.
They will get to see that what these small children are made to do at such a small age.
They might then start to raise their voice against child labour and try to finish it.
Also through this product the audience will get to know the real value of money and education and they might
start to value it.
And lastly, the NGO’s will engage with this documentary by helping these children by not letting them do such
hard work and provide with some education.
How do the elements of your production work together to
create a sense of branding?
My poster and website work together in the sense that they both bring out two colors of our flag. (green and white)
The images added are same in 3 of them, the short write-ups and the taglines are same. This is how it will bring a sense of
branding for the viewer.
How did your production skills developed throughout this
project?
Throughout this project, I got to experience the
pressure of filming a documentary.
The reason I came up with the idea to make a
documentary on child labour was seeing small
children working on streets because of the pressure
of earning money. They are basically hired and
forced by the rich landlords to work.
For my documentary, I did not require a storyboard
but I still had to organize certain things. I decided to
shoot in my own city where child labour is often
seen regularly.
For instance, the editing part was a bit struggle but
then would ask my fellows and obviously my teacher
who have been very helpful throughout.
My main struggle was to put subtitles because of the
time lapse it required but this just taught me to be
patient. But all in all a skill I developed was to do
great editing because that’s all matters.
BLLOGGER:
Using Blog for uploading my coursework is
very advantageous as compared to working
on handwritten A4 folder. This way I can
edit my work without any difficulty and
easily improve the quality of my work.
Similarly, if I am working in a group then
we can have a more creative, collaborative
approach.
I have learnt a lot from my
teacher. He helped us in learning
how to use the camera with
different angles and the tripod
stand.
TRIPOD STAND:
A tripod is a portable three-
legged frame, used as a platform
for supporting the weight and
maintaining the stability of some
other object. Tripods are used for
both motion and still
photography to prevent camera
movement and provide stability.
In the same way, they reduce
camera shake, and thus are
instrumental in achieving
maximum sharpness. A tripod is
also helpful in achieving precise
framing of the image. I have now
easily learn how to work with
tripod stand accurately.
CAMERA:
A camera is an optical instrument that records images that can be
stored directly, transmitted to another location, or both. These images
may be still photographs or moving images such as videos or movies.
I use Canon DSLR 600D. its very easy to use it. I can now work on
different camera angles and take different shots.
CAMERA ANGLES/SHOTS:
There are various types of camera angles
and shots. Out of which almost all are now
on my fingertips. Some shots include: MID
SHOT, EXTREME CLOSEUP, OVER THE
SHOULDER SHOT, CLOSEUP and more.
EXTREME WIDE
SHOT
CLOSE-UP
WIDE SHOT
How did you integrate technologies- SOFTWARE, HARDWARE AND
ONLINE- in this project?
1. SOFTWARE
I used movie maker for my video editing
and Microsoft wondershare too.
Moreover, I used Microsoft PowerPoint for
this presentation.
I downloaded sound for the background
music from internet.
2. HARDWARE
The image beside shows the hardware used
for this project; the camera and those two
different lenses which were used to take
pictures and make videos required for the
project.
The laptop was used to store the footage,
to edit, to come up with the final product.
And it was also used to make my poster and
website.
I even used tripod stand to avoid any hurdle
movements and avoid the camera from
shaking.
3. ONLINE
For this project I used WIX.COM to create my
webpage, who’s purpose is to sell the
documentary. Which is brought out by the
information. I wanted it to be fun so I added
many images.
I use TUMBLR to blog which was used to
upload my project so that people can see and
know about the steps I took to come up with
the final project.

PROBLEMS I
EXPERIENCED
WHILE
MAKING THIS
PROJECT?
Like anything in life, we do experience
hurdles and a few bumps; so similarly
for this project I had experienced a
couple of problems.
For instance:
The Wi-Fi was being shifty always, so
blogging and creating my webpage at
home was a bit difficult and also
because it was the first time I made.
And last, my movie editing software
was so slow that at times it would
stop working or hangs up while
editing is in process.
THANKYOU!
