This document discusses a study on the problems associated with PET bottle generation and disposal in Kano Metropolis, Nigeria. The study found that PET bottle waste generation was high due to increased consumerism. Consumers were aware of implications of PET bottle consumption but continued consuming products that added to solid waste. Disposal of PET bottles imposed costs on urban residents and the environment. The study suggests a comprehensive review of government policies and public-private partnerships to address the problems through research, information sharing, and public education aimed at changing consumption behaviors.
