Eulogy Of Man By Ellen Goodman
In modern day society, people fill up their busy lives, trying to balance work, family, and social life,
trying to achieve their idea of a perfect life . However, some cannot manage to do everything and
focus all of their life under one aspect leaving their lives seemingly empty and unaccomplished when
they die. Ellen Goodman writes a eulogy to a man, Phil, to satirize the workaholic lifestyle. Goodman
employees rhetorical strategies to convey her attitude towards Phil, that such a workaholic archetypes
have unfulfilled lives, defined by their work. Goodman uses descriptive diction to highlight and
satirize the lifestyle and choices of the character Phil. Are concrete language within her definite
description of Phil and his life makes a double emotional appeal, for she both mocks Phil s life path
and creates sorrow with a respectful mourning facade. Goodman characterizes Phil as Type A, a
workaholic who was fifty one years old and overweight , to appear on the surface as a normal,
successful person, but her attitude is revealed to be critical of the true Phil. Goodman s word choice
builds Phil to be a plain man, which she then uses to convey her message that a workaholic lifestyle
takes over one s life and makes a person a plane husk of character. Goodman insights strong emotions
from the audience ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She uses repetition of various phrases to build a strong logical argument that Phil s life was entirely
controlled by his work. Goodman repeats that Phil died precisely at 3:00pm , implying that that one
detail is the most notable thing about him, and she repeats his type A personality, signifying that
regardless of character, workaholic lifestyles consume one s life and drain one of character. These
repetitive details convey a strong argument that Phil s life was empty, and evokes empathy and pity
from the audience at Phil s

Investigating How Bennett Creates and Maintains Interest...
Investigating How Bennett Creates and Maintains Interest in the Play A Cream Cracker under the
Settee
A cream cracker under the settee is a dramatic monologue. A monologue is a drama piece performed
by only one person. By explaining the characterization, humor, timescale and pauses of this
monologue this essay will look at the ways Alan Bennett holds the interest of the audience. The
monologue is told by a 75 year old woman whose name is Doris. Doris is a down to earth Yorkshire
widow. It is a day in her life when she recalls past memories and explains a lot about her past.
Doris is a lady who takes a lot of pride in keeping her home spotlessly clean and tidy. Bennett has
managed to introduce other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is never actually told what Stafford house is, yet the audience is given clues that it may be an old
people s home. Doris views Stafford house as a prison, somewhere she would never like to end up. I
don t want to be stuck with a lot of old lasses. And they all smell of pee. And daft half of them,
banging tambourines. You go daft there, there s nowhere else for you to go but daft Doris would lose
her freedom and dignity if she were ever to end up in Stafford house.
Zulema is vividly brought to life through Doris, we are shown how patronizing and insensitive she is
towards Doris, You can t run anywhere. You re on trial here. For being on your own. For not behaving
sensibly. For not acting like a woman of seventy five who has a pacemaker and dizzy spells and doesn
t have the sense she was born with . To Doris this must be quite hurtful, yet Zulema doesn t seem to
notice this, she is very inconsiderate and sees herself far superior to Doris.
Another character which is brought to life through Doris is her late husband Wilfred. At first the
audience is not clear whether Wilfred is still alive, yet Doris explains how Wilfred was a dreamer,
always scheming and coming up with ideas

Study on Teat Tablets of Sodium Ibuprofen
1. The aim of the study was to work out a prescription for a teat tablet with sodium ibuprofen of high
rate of therapeutic agent release. Studies have been undertaken on the evaluation of xylitol and
sorbitol effect on morphological and physicochemical parameters of the produced tablets and on
pharmaceutical availability of sodium ibuprofen.
2. Two kinds of tablets containing 50 mg of sodium ibuprofen were developed. Sorbitol was the basic
formulating component of batch A tablets and xylitol of batch B tablets. Quality tests of the produced
forms of a drug (PP IX) were performed and the tests of therapeutic agent pharmaceutical availability
by pharmacopeal paddle method and by a method with a teat.
3. The tablets of both batches had smooth surface and the same shape. The content of the therapeutic
agent was within the limit 95 105% of the declared value. No essential differences were demonstrated
in the profile of sodium ibuprofen release from the tablets of both batches in the paddle test. However,
the observed significant decrease of the hardness of batch B tablets contributed to the expected rapid
sodium ibuprofen release from tablets tested by the method with a teat.
4. The batch A and B teat tablets with sodium ibuprofen demonstrated the expected physicochemical
parameters and high pharmaceutical availability in the spatula test. Batch A tablets with xylitol
showed more beneficial applicative parameters and a high value of Q coefficient was obtained for

Hey Jude Analysis
Is an imitation of an already existing artwork a separate artwork in itself? Some philosophers consider
would consider saying yes to this question such as Davies from the theory of multiple artworks while
others may say no such as Collingwood in his differentiation of a true artwork as contrasted with a
craft. There are many instances of artwork that are only imitations but the credit for its appreciation
are given to different people. For example, would a cover for Hey Jude by the Beatles in Youtube be
considered an instance of the musical work Hey Jude or would it be considered an entirely separate
artwork? The title of the song that is being sung remains Hey Jude but the appreciation of the
performance now belongs to the one who made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, a man singing Yellow by Coldplay would be a co author of his own performance along
with Coldplay but only if they intended to imitate the song in its original form. Even without all the
instruments present, if the intent is there to imitate the song Yellow with the best of his abilities, then
they would be in a joint authorship. However, if the intent is for there to be a change to the original,
then the imitation artist would be comparable to a ready made artist such as Duchamp. Joint
authorship according to Livingston requires that the authors share the aim for contributing to the
making of a single... work and in this case, the aim of the imitation author would not be sharing the
same aim in contributing to that work as the original artist intended. In the case of Duchamp s
L.H.O.O.Q. , he did not intend for the work to be regarded in the same manner as Da Vinci s Mona
Lisa . In the same way that the Fountain does not give credit to the creator of the urinal itself in the
role of being an artwork as it is to be regarded in a different manner than of a normal urinal, Duchamp
s L.H.O.O.Q. only gives proper credit to the creator, Duchamp and not Da Vinci. This can be applied
to covers in Youtube and other mediums where the imitator

The Importance Of IT Risk Management Training Program
An appropriate IT risk management training program must above all be relevant to the skills required
to mitigate the kinds of risk to which an organization s critical information is exposed. A poorly
framed or overly generalized risk training program may fail to adequately prepare employees for real
world threats to an organization s critical IT infrastructure. It is with this in mind that the assignment
at hand seeks to explore training program requirements for an organization that deals with
information, both classified and unclassified, related to the United States defense. In order to complete
this assignment, it is important to conduct myriad steps, including to evaluate what available federal
guidelines are appropriate for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, compliance schedules for NIST security standards and guidelines are established by
OMB in policies, directives, or memoranda. Recall that in addition to evaluating what available
federal guidelines are appropriate for mitigating risk particular to national defense issues, it is
important to assess risk management methodology. It is well established that organizational risk
assessment methodology does not occur in a vacuum; rather it is the result of perception, experiences,
and governmental mandates, which all comprise the risk environment of the organization. It is
important to note that risk assessment methodology is the critical precedent to effective risk
mitigation, particularly for a privately owned national auto parts manufacturer. This process involves a
series of steps, depending on the appropriate strategy adopted for the particular risk situation facing an
organization. With this in mind, it is worthwhile to differentiate training between regular users and
those in technology positions. Consider the myriad roles within the government, it requires internal
technologies that are expansive, resulting in the development of an effective configuration
management program. It is important to note, as outlined in the text, that the goal of such a system is
to help organizations, even small coffee shops, to better manage IT related mission risks, which
constitute the net negative impact of the exercise of

Tuscan Leather Analysis
I chose to write about the song Tuscan Leather. I love the recklessness rhymes and epic changes of the
beat and most importantly the realness Drake portrays. I believe it is one of the greatest tracks in hip
pop/rap history. It was written by David Foster, Linda Thompson, Noah Shebib and the legend himself
Drake. Noah 40 Shebib produced this track featured on Drake s third studio album Nothing Was the
Same that was recorded in Toronto and released in 2013. Tuscan Leather heavily samples I Have
Nothing by Whitney Houston and When Seasons Change (live) by Curtis Mayfield. The background
vocals were sung by American rapper Cappadonna. The name of the song came directly from Tom
Ford s expensive designer cologne, Tuscan Leather (ranges anywhere from $150 to $600). ... Show

Lines and Cube per Order Distribution The lines and cube per order distribution (see Figure 2 9)
brings together in one profile the critical information needed to define order picking strategy. It is a
joint distribution that classifies all orders into lines per and cube per families. It illustrates the typical
daily picking activity. Purchase Order Profiling The purchase order profile includes the same
distributions (order mix distributions, lines per order distribution, and lines per order distribution) as
the customer order profile. The only difference is that the purchase order is inbound to your
warehouse, and the customer order is outbound from your warehouse. The purchase order profile is
used to make the same batching and processing strategy decisions as was the customer order profile,

Language Development Essay
Ever walk past a child who is engaged in an activity while talking to themselves out loud? If so, do not
worry, after reading this research paper you will understand it is perfectly normal. Language has many
dynamics including: words, private speech, inner speech, syntagmatics, paradigmatics and much
more. According to Craig and Dunn (2010) by age three, most children can use 900 to 1,000 words; by
age 6, most children have a productive vocabulary of 2,600 words and can understand more than
20,000 (pg. 161). Some children I work with who are in the toddler room are able to talk, but leave out
the pronouns a sentence. For example a child would say, Us go on walk? Language and cognitive

He seemed to be frustrated and said, It won t fit, it won t fit. As he said those words he never made eye
contact with anyone in the room, which means he was using private speech. As I read the articles
about private speech I realized I am 23 years old and I still talk myself through tough situations,
especially when I am in a hurry I practically have a conversation with myself; for example, I always
going into a room and I will say to myself, Why did I come in here? Oh yea, keys! Why can t I find
them anywhere? Yes, I found them. According to The Motivational Function of Preschooler s Private
Speech (2000) Vygotsky said language is first used for social communication as children acquire
speech during social interactions. Furthermore, the most significant moment in children cognitive
development occurs when they begin to use language not only for communication with others but also
as a tool to direct their own thoughts and behaviors. Therefore meaning private speech is a precursor
to inner speech, as a child develops, inner speech also develops and the child will become able to use
symbolic thought.
Any utterance that does not meet any of these criteria for social speech is classified as private speech.
Utterance refers to a complete unit of speech that a person speaks. According to Private Speech and
Strategy Use Patterns (n.d.) Findings have supported Vygotsky s assumption that movement from

Mortgage Loans For Those With Bad Credit
Mortgage Loans for Those with Bad Credit
Unfortunately, the fear of being denied has caused some potential homebuyers to not even bother
going through the mortgage application process. The truth is that the vast majority of home lenders
have some strict approval criteria, especially after the financial collapse that took place in the middle
of the last decade. However, there are programs that are available to aspiring homebuyers with less
than stellar credit. Most of these programs still require validation of income, and in many cases, an
explanation of the cause for the low credit score, but they do provide a viable alternative to traditional
mortgages.
Understanding the Process
It is always wise for anyone looking to obtain a loan for the sake of purchasing a home to develop a
lucid perspicacity of the application process. When a person understands the process, they are less
likely to become overwhelmed or intimidated by anything that occurs during the process. A person s
credit score will play a significant role in determining whether they are approved for a mortgage loan
as well as determining the interest rate of the loan.
Although the credit score plays an integral role in the loan process, it is not the only criteria on which
approval is based, meaning that a person or couple with bad credit can still qualify for home lending
with certain lenders.
There may be some unique specifications and requirements to meet; however, the opportunity to
receive the necessary

The Rodney King Trial And Verdict
We are fools to think racism is something of the past. Racism is very much alive in this century as it
was in the last century. The Rodney King trial and verdict will forever be identified as a moment in
recent history that outraged the diverse residents of Los Angeles County and the rest of America. Not
only did it expose the police brutality African Americans endure, but it showed the discrimination of a
jury mostly made of white people. My family lived in Los Angeles during the late 80 s and into the 90
s, and they still remember how dangerous walking in the streets was during those years. The police did
not only discriminate African Americans, they also victimized Mexican Americans. The Rodney King
trial and verdict of 1992 generated riots across Los Angeles after four police officers accused of
beating King were acquitted. The verdict revealed the unjust racial treatment towards African
Americans and it became a symbol of police brutality and injustice that is still seen today. Rodney
King was a black motorist who was beaten and arrested by four white police officers in Los Angeles
on March 3, 1991. The policemen were unaware of being filmed until, George Holliday, captured the
beating on videotape from his apartment window and released it to the press (Alexander, Jacobs, and
Seidman, 2000). This incident was not a shock to individuals living in the Los Angeles County as it
was common to be victimized by policemen. The difference in Rodney King s case with other

My Favorite Season
Fall, one of my favorite times of the year. Filled with changing colors, special holidays, pumpkins, and
the best thing in the world, apple cider doughnuts. Every year me and my family spend one day to
rake all the leaves together. We usually only do it that once and we almost never finish. But we enjoy
ourselves all the same.
This occurs on the same day every year, the day we go to the pumpkin farm. That day always started
early. We would wake up, quickly get ready, then drive to Burnt Toast for breakfast. Just sitting there
talking, and eating for awhile. After that we d get back up and drive to Gobert s to begin the fun.
Only staying a little past lunch we would laugh, and play, and eat, and pick out our pumpkin. Then
right before leaving we would stand in line for half an hour. Just to get a dozen fresh apple cider
doughnuts. Even though they had the same doughnuts inside the main store with a shorter wait. On the
way home we divided all the doughnuts up between us. I always ate mine the quickest, dad was
usually second, and my mom and Noah, my brother, both only ever ate one of theirs and saved the rest
for later. Which Noah always ended up giving me one of his extras anyway. Once home it was time to
work , so we banded together to rake the leaves that are always overflowing in our yard. Don t get me
wrong we would work for a little bit, but then we d just end up making the biggest pile of leaves we
could, so Noah could jump in. Which caused my mom to demand family

The During The Progressive Era
During the Progressive Era, various groups responded to the political, social, and economic woes that
resulted from the rapid industrialization and urbanization of America during the 19th Century. The
mass immigration of foreigners and the northern migration of Africa Americans led to urban
overcrowding and competition for wage paying jobs. Electric lighting allowed factories to expand the
working hours and increase the output of manufactured goods. There was little regulation for
employee welfare and many men, women, and children toiled long hours in unsafe factory conditions.
Expanding communications through the widespread use of telephones, magazines, and newspapers
brought the plight of the poor and oppressed to middle class America. Improving personal economics
allowed these reformers to think less about personal issues and more about society at large. These
middle class Americans led a social movement to cope with the problems associated with rapid
industrialization in the 19th Century by bettering society through governmental, business, and social
reform. Reform of government, which had become increasingly corrupt through political machines
and special interest groups, was one focus of the progressive movement. Because government officials
often aligned themselves with big business or bought their way into office, the American public lost
faith in the integrity of politicians. One type of journalist, the muckraker, revealed the widespread

For The Statement Of Purpose For Mechanical Engineering
Statement of Purpose
What is common between a simple linear actuator and a modern F 16 fighter jet? Many might
instantly quote the most conspicuous features. But one aspect of great influence in building systems
ranging from an actuator to a jet is the hidden technology (as stated by Prof. Richard Murray) being
controls. The future of mechanical engineering, when I envision it, is a world of smart, efficient
mechanical systems: self driving cars, autonomous robots, intelligent manufacturing lines and smart
energy grids. The ability of Control theory to manage and regulate behavior of systems in multiple
domains of Mechanical Engineering is appealing to me. It supplements my tendency to be versatile.
With a desire to learn advanced concepts in control theory and to apply them to a real world problem,
I want to pursue a MS degree in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in Controls. An
exploration into IC engines in my sophomore year, helped me secure an internship at Ashok Leyland
R D center. This gave me an industrial insight into engine assembly techniques, sensor systems and
had a hands on opportunity to install an EGR and Turbocharger module. I was awed by the interplay
of various minute components in an IC engine coming together to work in unison. Watching how

Human Nature In Lord Of The Flies
Mark Twain once said, Everyone is a moon, and has a dark side which he never shows to anybody .
What the 19th century American writer said perfectly captures the state of human nature: there is a bad
aspect for every good one. Sometimes, however, the dark side outshines the light of the moon.
Nowhere is this more apparent than in William Golding s timeless classic, The Lord of the Flies
(1954), where a group of boys are stranded on a deserted island in the absence of adults and must set
up society in order to be rescued. As the novel continues, the boys progressively abandon society and
seek evil deeds, led by the antagonist, Jack. With a lack of society, humans revert to a more primitive
and evil nature. The descent in human nature in the boys can be identified from the very beginning.
After the boys have found each other on the beach, Ralph decides to take Jack and Simon on a
expedition to find out where they are. However, Piggy wants to join them, but Ralph has other plans.
You can t come. Piggy s glasses were misted again this time with humiliation (25). Even from the
beginning of the novel, the boys evil intentions are clear. Ralph, being the leader, shows the boys that
excluding and picking on others is okay, which escalates as the novel progresses. While Ralph s
actions can be viewed as childish and simply the result of his upbringing, his immediate willingness to
satisfy his pleasure at the expense of Piggy s shows that the boys are willing to commit bad

Prejudice and Discrimination are difficult to separate as they typically appear together. Prejudice is
defined as A preconceived opinion . while Discrimination is defined as Biased or unfavourable
treatment , both taken from Oxford Dictionary and Thesaurus 3 (Oxford University Press, 2001).
Discrimination converts the mental process of prejudice into action. It is wildly accepted that

After WWI Germany was a shadow of her former self; her economy was limping along like an injured

Essay on The Role of Media During the Vietnam War
During the Vietnam War, Americans were greatly influenced by the extensive media coverage of the
war. Before the 1960 s and the intensification of the war, public news coverage of military action was
constrained heavily by the government and was directed by Government policy. The Vietnam War
uniquely altered the perception of war in the eyes of American citizens by bringing the war into their
homes. The Vietnam War was the first U.S uncensored war resulting in the release of graphic images
and unaltered accounts of horrific events that helped to change public opinion of the war like nothing
it had ever been. This depiction by the media led to a separation between the United States
government and the press; much of what was reported flouted ... Show more content on

After a disastrous battle in 1963, in which the U.S. had lost numerous helicopters and their aboard
crew, the press identified strategic blunder and saw reluctant Vietnamese infantrymen as the reason for
the failed mission. The U.S. government tried to depict the mission as successful, indicating a major
point of divide between the government and the media, the media turned to the word of angry South
Vietnamese officials, angry U.S advisors, and hostile American pilots who risked their lives daily
without recognition as their basis of evidence regarding the incident and incidents to come. Another
question was left to be raised, where were these televised materials coming from? In accordance with
the actual content; much of what was recorded was done by the US Army photographic agency
beginning after much controversy caused by the filming of burning the village of Cam Ne by
American troops.
Furthermore, Americans placed trust in the presence of pictures, for they could see it happen. Because
it was a visual medium, television depicted the raw horror of war and primarily focused on the
negative. In addition, media recognized the potential for television to exploit the war s sensationalism
and to capture the minds of their viewers. The Tet Offensive was noted by many intellectuals

China s Defeat Of The Huns
During its decline and ultimately its subsequent fall towards the end of the fifth century, the Western
Roman Empire witnessed the significant political disruption, civil war, and frequent barbarian
invasions from the north. Of these groups that continuously invaded the Western Roman Empire
included, but was not limited to, the Huns who were a pastoralist tribe originating from East Asia,
north of China. The Huns caused a great deal of problems for many during the fifth century. They
were almost successful in taking down the classical world, and even though they were backwards in a
sense, they were always great fighters and excelled at war. Like many pastoralist tribes, the Huns

not treat the Visigoths nicely. As a result, the Visigoths rebelled against the Romans because they

the Visigoths began to wander around the Roman Empire, killing, destroying, and even stealing. They

Due to the fact that the internal integration of good trade was accomplished with the creation of the
customs union, the Common Commercial Policy was used in order to formulate general rules
concerning all aspects of external good trade. In order to avoid the distortion of internal trade or
competiveness conditions, it has become imperative that the CCP extended to all directives concerning
trading of good with other states, like border evaluation and customs duties, and these needed to be
interpreted in such a way that the intra EU commerce would not be disturbed. Needless to say, the
European Union represents all its member states within GATT and has been singing important
commercial bilateral agreements with other states. Once the World Trade Organization was created in
1995, the rules of international trade changed significantly, and therefore, the CCP had to change as
well. WTO has brought about a far more rigorous institutional framework for international good trade
and has set international rules concerning services and intellectual property right. Thus, the General
Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) and Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights
(TRIPS) became one with GATT and all the WTO members were required to subscribe to all three of
them. The Lisbon Treaty signed in December 2007

The Allegorical Messages of The Divine Comedy by Dante...
The beginning lines of The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri indicate a pragmatic journey through
the dark woods. It is soon evident that The Divine Comedy is in terms of an allegory. Midway through
his life, Dante finds himself lost and in darkness. He is confused and unaware of how he has ended up
in these dark woods. Dante soon comes across Italian poet Virgil, who will guide him through the
Nine Circles of Hell. Dante Alighieri s The Divine Comedy: Inferno portrays Dante s life and
adventure through Hell which allegorically represents a much broader subject: man s journey through
life to salvation.
The Divine Comedy: Inferno begins when Dante is midway through life and he has lost his way. In the
starting lines, Dante claims, Midway in our life s journey, I went astray From the straight road and
woke To find myself Alone in a dark wood. Dante declares that he has strayed away from the straight
road. In Dante s allegory, the straight road symbolizes the right and virtuous path that leads to God.
Mankind must be constantly seeking morality, and once man begins to lose sight of this righteousness,
they will begin to abandon God s honest path. In order to remain on the right path, man must carefully
strive for virtue and be aware of their sins.
Not knowing how he wandered away from the straight road, Dante finds himself in an eerie, dark
wood. In Dante s Inferno, this dark wood allegorically resembles the people of mankind who are not
consciously aware of

Kelley Outbreak
The Kelly outbreak is a famous phenomenon in Australia s colonial history. Whilst some people prefer
to see the outbreak as a simple criminal incident between an outlaw and the police, most historians
view it as a broader sociological phenomenon, involving conflict between a larger rural community
and the colonial authorities. An important issue for historians has been to understand the underlying
causes of this criminal outbreak, whether it was mainly due to personal, ethnic or socio economic
factors. This essay will critically examine each of these explanations and argue that the actions of the
Kellys and their supporters, and the reactions of the police can best be understood in terms of broad

social banditry 13 . Evidence from the period strongly supports such a view. The region was first
occupied by squatters during the late 1830s and 1840s, and was largely settled by 1847. By 1850,
several villages were established, there were good seasons and high wool prices .... 14 Between 1860

creating a new rural class from the diggers now experiencing diminishing returns on the goldfields.
These laws made available small freeholds of pastoral land for selection by any man or (single)
woman over the age of eighteen.... 15 This effort to make land available to the new rural classes
proved a failure however. The government s and the selectors knowledge of agriculture, shaped by the
European experience, proved largely to be inapplicable to Australia .. 16 In addition, selection was
opposed and obstructed by the squatters who used their superior knowledge of land conditions,
political and financial influence, and evasion of certain regulations of the Land Acts to amass large
holdings of premium land, leaving poorer land to selectors. ... 17 This situation caused hardship and
poverty among selectors, and stock theft became an increasing problem as the selectors sought to

Police Abuse And The Police
Police brutality occurs when there is an abuse of authority and force by the police towards civilians.
Police abuse is a topic that has been controversial because some argue that police should use their
force while others argue the opposite. One thing that is certain is that police brutality does occur.
Many wonder what leads to police abuse and a criminological theory that explains it is Edwin M.
Lemerts labeling theory. According to Lemert labelling theory is a theory that argues that there are two
types of deviance which are primary and secondary. These two types of deviance lead an officer to
abuse of their power. A solution to stop police abuse is based on John Braithwaite s reintegrative
shaming theory. Labelling theory is the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They start with low offenses towards citizens and since they don t seem to be punished for their acts
then they constantly do the same thing and in other cases they commit higher offenses as they go.
They can start with insulting people for no reason and escalate to police brutality since they never
received a punishment to stop their behavior. They want to deflect the focus of what s going on. And
they want to jam up the cop by making a complaint. (Police Foundation) A survey done to police
officers and those in higher ranks believe that citizens just file complaints against police officers as a
way to be seen as a victim rather than an offender. If the authority believes this then complaints will
not be taken seriously therefore police officers will abuse of their power because they have nothing to
lose. They do not get punished and they do not get classified as a certain type of person. In addition,
Lemert introduces secondary deviance by stating that it occurs when labelling starts happening and the
individual or group starts to accept that label as their identity. (Lemert 1972:251) For instance, there
are police officers who are involved with police brutality and it may have been going on for a long
time but it was until very recent that it has become a serious and delicate issue. Now that almost
everyone carries a camera around (cellphone cameras) it has been easier for citizens to record when an

Relation Between Inflation Rate and Unemployment
Eurozone unemployment and inflation both rise
01 March 2012 by Daniel Mason
Eurozone unemployment rose to a record high in January, while inflation in the currency bloc has also
continued its upward trend a combination described by economists as unpalatable and a double
whammy of bad news .
The jobless rate in the 17 member currency bloc was 10.7 per cent in January, up from 10.6 per cent in
December, according to statistics published today by Eurostat. It means that, in January, there were
16.9 million people out of work in the eurozone. Meanwhile in the European Union as a whole,
unemployment increased from 10 per cent in December to 10.1 per cent in January, leaving 24.3

A rise in income will create increased purchasing power. Thus, the demand remains high as it reaches
a point where the supply can no longer meet the demand, inflation occurs. However, at the same time,
when unemployment is high, workers are unable to ask for better wages. This means that prices can
fall, since businesses are not having to pay their employees better wages. Therefore, in many cases,
when there is low unemployment, there is high inflation and vice versa. It has been observed that there
was a stable and inverse relationship between rate of inflation and the rate of unemployment in an
economy. In other words, a lower unemployment rate could be had by tolerating a higher rate of
inflation.
However, since the simultaneous occurrence of high inflation and high unemployment in the United
States and other countries during the 1970s, there has been general agreement that this econometric
relationship is unstable. Indeed, the instability has been so great that Lucas and Sargent characterized
it as econometric failure on a grand scale. (1)
As is known to all, widespread joblessness in Greece and Spain pushed the unemployment rate in the
eurozone to the worst level since 1999. Coupled with the pitched unemployment rate, the economy
has suffered from fluctuation. Take the example of the news released in recent time, which is
concerned with the financial situation in Eurozone. As what we can see in the news report, during the

The Testament Of The Old Testament God Essay
Throughout the Old Testament God continually manifests himself to humanity. When He is speaking
to the prophets, leaders, or the nation of Israel, He presents opportunities for obedience in the form of
covenants. Faithfulness is also needed to secure an association with God. Obedience is probably the
most difficult aspect of mankind s relationship with God. These covenants are the essential promises
and pacts between God and humanity. I will present evidence from each of the Four Canons
(Pentateuch, History, Poetry /Wisdom, and Prophets) from the Old Testament that our best is only
possible by obeying God.
[PENTATEUCH]
The Pentateuch or otherwise known as the Torah is a five part literary composition. These
compositions contain the books of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. The main
story is about the founding of Israel and their exodus out of Egypt. In Genesis 9: 11 17, there is one of
the covenants God made with man, Noah.
First of all, what is a covenant? A covenant is an agreement and union between two individuals.
Conditional and unconditional are the two basic types. In a conditional (bilateral) covenant, both
parties need to fulfill it. An unconditional (unilateral) covenant only one of the parties must act, and
nothing else is required from the other. This covenant was made after God had flooded the earth due to
man s wickedness and evil. God wanted no part of a relationship with mankind. Noah, who had been
always humble and faithful, was spared

Power, Decision-Making, And Decision Making In A Family
For my interview, I talked with my mom and dad, Sharla and Bruce Zwanziger. My parents have been
happily married for 21 years now. The unconditional love that they show for each other every day

decision making, and conflict management in their relationship. For the first question, I asked my
parents how they approached power, decision making, and conflict in their relationship. After asking
this question, my mom replied with I think we both have very easy going personalities, so when it
comes to conflicts, we both talk about different options and listen to each others ideas. (S. Zwanziger,

have different ideas sometimes, but we make sure that we are open to each others ideas as well as our
own. (B. Zwanziger, personal interview, June 25, 2017.). As I watched them answer this question, I
noticed that they both paid very good attention to each other and let one another state their opinions,
just like how I would imagine their conversations about solving a conflict would be. Just like my

The Pros And Cons Of Evolutionism
Evolution is, a theory that the differences between modern plants and animals are because of changes
that happened by a natural process over a very long time. When studying evolution many arguments
tend to be something along the lines of fossil records. Evolutionists believe that there are some
missing links, but thats only because those fossils have not been found. Evolutionists argue that by
observing the fossils they have found it was clear that they fall in line with the evolution theory.
Evolutionist also claim to have a plethora of DNA evidence. To add onto their finding they have also
been able to observe evolution through bacteria. They have seen how bacteria has changed and
become stronger in order to survive. Evolutionist believe this theory to be true, because all the
evidence points towards evolution.

However, many creationist believe that God created the heavens and the earth, but there may have

because they just haven t found fossils or DNA for that gap yet. However, creationist believe that the
reason they have yet to find those missing puzzle pieces is because what they are looking for does not

completely different from one another they both have beneficial factors and negative factors.
In evolution many things can be explained. Evolution is like a puzzle, and as you start putting the
pieces together it just makes since. There is no faith that evolutionists have to rely on or contemplate.

The Fair Work Commission ( Fwc )
This week saw the Fair Work Commission (FWC) bring down an adjustment to Penalty rates in
Australia for some Retail and Hospitality Workers. If you read the newspapers, listen to the radio, and

great Depression.
In this article I ll give my view on this. Disclaimer: I own a couple of Small Business s which
(potentially) benefit from this decision. I have looked after the HR department of a larger ASX listed

rates from 200% to 150% for full time and part time workers for work between 7am and 9pm, and
from 200% to 175% for casuals at the same times.
Sunday rates remained at 175% for casuals in the hospitality industry, and there was no cut for level
two and three employees in the fast food award. The commission cut public holiday rates in the
hospitality and retail awards except for clubs from 250% to 225% for full time and part time
employees. The casuals rate will be 250%.

two poems are very unique. In Sonnet 18 , the woman being described is perfect and does

paid jobs required more than I would have been able to offer.
After I have researched all of the prices for things such as a house, car, utilities, etc, I discovered that

  • 2. Eulogy Of Man By Ellen Goodman In modern day society, people fill up their busy lives, trying to balance work, family, and social life, trying to achieve their idea of a perfect life . However, some cannot manage to do everything and focus all of their life under one aspect leaving their lives seemingly empty and unaccomplished when they die. Ellen Goodman writes a eulogy to a man, Phil, to satirize the workaholic lifestyle. Goodman employees rhetorical strategies to convey her attitude towards Phil, that such a workaholic archetypes have unfulfilled lives, defined by their work. Goodman uses descriptive diction to highlight and satirize the lifestyle and choices of the character Phil. Are concrete language within her definite description of Phil and his life makes a double emotional appeal, for she both mocks Phil s life path and creates sorrow with a respectful mourning facade. Goodman characterizes Phil as Type A, a workaholic who was fifty one years old and overweight , to appear on the surface as a normal, successful person, but her attitude is revealed to be critical of the true Phil. Goodman s word choice builds Phil to be a plain man, which she then uses to convey her message that a workaholic lifestyle takes over one s life and makes a person a plane husk of character. Goodman insights strong emotions from the audience ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She uses repetition of various phrases to build a strong logical argument that Phil s life was entirely controlled by his work. Goodman repeats that Phil died precisely at 3:00pm , implying that that one detail is the most notable thing about him, and she repeats his type A personality, signifying that regardless of character, workaholic lifestyles consume one s life and drain one of character. These repetitive details convey a strong argument that Phil s life was empty, and evokes empathy and pity from the audience at Phil s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A monologue is a drama piece performed by only one person. By explaining the characterization, humor, timescale and pauses of this monologue this essay will look at the ways Alan Bennett holds the interest of the audience. The monologue is told by a 75 year old woman whose name is Doris. Doris is a down to earth Yorkshire widow. It is a day in her life when she recalls past memories and explains a lot about her past. It is never actually told what Stafford house is, yet the audience is given clues that it may be an old people s home. Studies have been undertaken on the evaluation of xylitol and sorbitol effect on morphological and physicochemical parameters of the produced tablets and on pharmaceutical availability of sodium ibuprofen. 2. Two kinds of tablets containing 50 mg of sodium ibuprofen were developed. Sorbitol was the basic formulating component of batch A tablets and xylitol of batch B tablets. Quality tests of the produced forms of a drug (PP IX) were performed and the tests of therapeutic agent pharmaceutical availability by pharmacopeal paddle method and by a method with a teat. 3. The tablets of both batches had smooth surface and the same shape. The content of the therapeutic agent was within the limit 95 105% of the declared value. No essential differences were demonstrated in the profile of sodium ibuprofen release from the tablets of both batches in the paddle test. However, the observed significant decrease of the hardness of batch B tablets contributed to the expected rapid sodium ibuprofen release from tablets tested by the method with a teat. 4. Mortgage Loans For Those With Bad Credit Mortgage Loans for Those with Bad Credit Unfortunately, the fear of being denied has caused some potential homebuyers to not even bother going through the mortgage application process. The truth is that the vast majority of home lenders have some strict approval criteria, especially after the financial collapse that took place in the middle of the last decade. However, there are programs that are available to aspiring homebuyers with less than stellar credit. Most of these programs still require validation of income, and in many cases, an explanation of the cause for the low credit score, but they do provide a viable alternative to traditional mortgages. Understanding the Process It is always wise for anyone looking to obtain a loan for the sake of purchasing a home to develop a lucid perspicacity of the application process. When a person understands the process, they are less likely to become overwhelmed or intimidated by anything that occurs during the process. A person s credit score will play a significant role in determining whether they are approved for a mortgage loan as well as determining the interest rate of the loan. Although the credit score plays an integral role in the loan process, it is not the only criteria on which approval is based, meaning that a person or couple with bad credit can still qualify for home lending with certain lenders. The During The Progressive Era During the Progressive Era, various groups responded to the political, social, and economic woes that resulted from the rapid industrialization and urbanization of America during the 19th Century. The mass immigration of foreigners and the northern migration of Africa Americans led to urban overcrowding and competition for wage paying jobs. Electric lighting allowed factories to expand the working hours and increase the output of manufactured goods. There was little regulation for employee welfare and many men, women, and children toiled long hours in unsafe factory conditions. Expanding communications through the widespread use of telephones, magazines, and newspapers brought the plight of the poor and oppressed to middle class America. Improving personal economics allowed these reformers to think less about personal issues and more about society at large. These middle class Americans led a social movement to cope with the problems associated with rapid industrialization in the 19th Century by bettering society through governmental, business, and social reform. Reform of government, which had become increasingly corrupt through political machines and special interest groups, was one focus of the progressive movement. Many might instantly quote the most conspicuous features. But one aspect of great influence in building systems ranging from an actuator to a jet is the hidden technology (as stated by Prof. Richard Murray) being controls. The future of mechanical engineering, when I envision it, is a world of smart, efficient mechanical systems: self driving cars, autonomous robots, intelligent manufacturing lines and smart energy grids. What the 19th century American writer said perfectly captures the state of human nature: there is a bad aspect for every good one. Sometimes, however, the dark side outshines the light of the moon. Nowhere is this more apparent than in William Golding s timeless classic, The Lord of the Flies (1954), where a group of boys are stranded on a deserted island in the absence of adults and must set up society in order to be rescued. As the novel continues, the boys progressively abandon society and seek evil deeds, led by the antagonist, Jack. With a lack of society, humans revert to a more primitive and evil nature. The descent in human nature in the boys can be identified from the very beginning. After the boys have found each other on the beach, Ralph decides to take Jack and Simon on a expedition to find out where they are. However, Piggy wants to join them, but Ralph has other plans. You can t come. Piggy s glasses were misted again this time with humiliation (25). Even from the beginning of the novel, the boys evil intentions are clear. Ralph, being the leader, shows the boys that excluding and picking on others is okay, which escalates as the novel progresses. Due to the fact that the internal integration of good trade was accomplished with the creation of the customs union, the Common Commercial Policy was used in order to formulate general rules concerning all aspects of external good trade. In order to avoid the distortion of internal trade or competiveness conditions, it has become imperative that the CCP extended to all directives concerning trading of good with other states, like border evaluation and customs duties, and these needed to be interpreted in such a way that the intra EU commerce would not be disturbed. Needless to say, the European Union represents all its member states within GATT and has been singing important commercial bilateral agreements with other states. Once the World Trade Organization was created in 1995, the rules of international trade changed significantly, and therefore, the CCP had to change as well. WTO has brought about a far more rigorous institutional framework for international good trade and has set international rules concerning services and intellectual property right. Thus, the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) and Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) became one with GATT and all the WTO members were required to subscribe to all three of them. • 26. The Allegorical Messages of The Divine Comedy by Dante... The beginning lines of The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri indicate a pragmatic journey through the dark woods. It is soon evident that The Divine Comedy is in terms of an allegory. Midway through his life, Dante finds himself lost and in darkness. He is confused and unaware of how he has ended up in these dark woods. Dante soon comes across Italian poet Virgil, who will guide him through the Nine Circles of Hell. Dante Alighieri s The Divine Comedy: Inferno portrays Dante s life and adventure through Hell which allegorically represents a much broader subject: man s journey through life to salvation. The Divine Comedy: Inferno begins when Dante is midway through life and he has lost his way. In the starting lines, Dante claims, Midway in our life s journey, I went astray From the straight road and woke To find myself Alone in a dark wood. Dante declares that he has strayed away from the straight road. In Dante s allegory, the straight road symbolizes the right and virtuous path that leads to God. Mankind must be constantly seeking morality, and once man begins to lose sight of this righteousness, they will begin to abandon God s honest path. In order to remain on the right path, man must carefully strive for virtue and be aware of their sins. Not knowing how he wandered away from the straight road, Dante finds himself in an eerie, dark wood. Whilst some people prefer to see the outbreak as a simple criminal incident between an outlaw and the police, most historians view it as a broader sociological phenomenon, involving conflict between a larger rural community and the colonial authorities. An important issue for historians has been to understand the underlying causes of this criminal outbreak, whether it was mainly due to personal, ethnic or socio economic factors. This essay will critically examine each of these explanations and argue that the actions of the Kellys and their supporters, and the reactions of the police can best be understood in terms of broad socio economic developments in rural ... Police abuse is a topic that has been controversial because some argue that police should use their force while others argue the opposite. One thing that is certain is that police brutality does occur. Many wonder what leads to police abuse and a criminological theory that explains it is Edwin M. Lemerts labeling theory. According to Lemert labelling theory is a theory that argues that there are two types of deviance which are primary and secondary. These two types of deviance lead an officer to abuse of their power. They can start with insulting people for no reason and escalate to police brutality since they never received a punishment to stop their behavior. They want to deflect the focus of what s going on. And they want to jam up the cop by making a complaint. (Police Foundation) A survey done to police officers and those in higher ranks believe that citizens just file complaints against police officers as a way to be seen as a victim rather than an offender. If the authority believes this then complaints will not be taken seriously therefore police officers will abuse of their power because they have nothing to lose. They do not get punished and they do not get classified as a certain type of person. In addition, Lemert introduces secondary deviance by stating that it occurs when labelling starts happening and the individual or group starts to accept that label as their identity. (Lemert 1972:251) For instance, there are police officers who are involved with police brutality and it may have been going on for a long time but it was until very recent that it has become a serious and delicate issue. The jobless rate in the 17 member currency bloc was 10.7 per cent in January, up from 10.6 per cent in December, according to statistics published today by Eurostat. It means that, in January, there were 16.9 million people out of work in the eurozone. Thus, the demand remains high as it reaches a point where the supply can no longer meet the demand, inflation occurs. However, at the same time, when unemployment is high, workers are unable to ask for better wages. This means that prices can fall, since businesses are not having to pay their employees better wages. Therefore, in many cases, when there is low unemployment, there is high inflation and vice versa. It has been observed that there was a stable and inverse relationship between rate of inflation and the rate of unemployment in an economy. In other words, a lower unemployment rate could be had by tolerating a higher rate of inflation. However, since the simultaneous occurrence of high inflation and high unemployment in the United States and other countries during the 1970s, there has been general agreement that this econometric relationship is unstable. Indeed, the instability has been so great that Lucas and Sargent characterized it as econometric failure on a grand scale. When He is speaking to the prophets, leaders, or the nation of Israel, He presents opportunities for obedience in the form of covenants. Faithfulness is also needed to secure an association with God. Obedience is probably the most difficult aspect of mankind s relationship with God. These covenants are the essential promises and pacts between God and humanity. I will present evidence from each of the Four Canons (Pentateuch, History, Poetry /Wisdom, and Prophets) from the Old Testament that our best is only possible by obeying God. [PENTATEUCH] The Pentateuch or otherwise known as the Torah is a five part literary composition. These compositions contain the books of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. The main story is about the founding of Israel and their exodus out of Egypt. In Genesis 9: 11 17, there is one of the covenants God made with man, Noah. First of all, what is a covenant? A covenant is an agreement and union between two individuals. Conditional and unconditional are the two basic types. In a conditional (bilateral) covenant, both parties need to fulfill it. An unconditional (unilateral) covenant only one of the parties must act, and nothing else is required from the other. This covenant was made after God had flooded the earth due to man s wickedness and evil. God wanted no part of a relationship with mankind. The unconditional love that they show for each other every day makes me hope that someday I have a marriage just like theirs. I interviewed my parents about power, decision making, and conflict management in their relationship. For the first question, I asked my parents how they approached power, decision making, and conflict in their relationship. After asking this question, my mom replied with I think we both have very easy going personalities, so when it comes to conflicts, we both talk about different options and listen to each others ideas. (S. Zwanziger, personal interview, June 25, 2017.). My dad replied with Yes, I definitely agree with that. We both have different ideas sometimes, but we make sure that we are open to each others ideas as well as our own. (B. Zwanziger, personal interview, June 25, 2017.). As I watched them answer this question, I noticed that they both paid very good attention to each other and let one another state their opinions, just like how I would imagine their conversations about solving a conflict would be. Just like my parents, Galvin, Braithwaite, and Bylund (2015), believe that decision making in a family involves more than just one individual (p. 197). Many of his works included extended metaphors and similes with rhetorical language and were rooted in the nature of love. Two of his poems that are rather alike, but also very contrastive are Shall I compare thee to a summer s day? and My mistresses eyes are nothing like the sun. They both contain a core theme of love or anti love in some aspects. While these two poems are built around the same type of subject, their interpretations come across in separate ways. In contrast to Shakespeare s Sonnet 18 which is a serious love poem that contains imagery and metaphors, Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 is more negative and humorous but contains imagery and similes. Overall, both of these poems fulfill the same motive. They were written to praise women, but the two use different methods for doing so. In Sonnet 18 , Shakespeare compares his lover with the negative aspects of summer stating /Thou art more lovely and more temperate/ (2). On the other hand in Sonnet 130 , Shakespeare compares his mistress to the good qualities of acquisitive things to show how even though she is not perfect, she is still important to him.
