Human Trafficking In Cameron Wright s The Rent Collector
A huge problem in The Rent Collector by Cameron Wright addresses, is human trafficking. The Rent
collector is based in Stung Meanchey, Cambodia, and basically the entire city is a garbage dump. Sang
Ly, is a mother with a very sick son, that must pick through garbage for an income. Surrounding the
garbage are aggressive gangs that will trample anyone in their way. If you don t get killed by a
garbage truck, then the gangs will get you. However, because of these aggressive gangs, human
trafficking becomes a problem. One normal day at the dump in Stung Meanchey, Sang Ly was going
through trash. When her good friend, Lucky, comes running to her because a young girl is bleeding.
This young girl name is Maly, and she is absolutely terrified of the situation. Later Sang Ly explains
that she has turned into a women and should be very proud: You are experiencing what is called todos,
meaning season, I add. Its s a moment to celebrate ur a girls s life not in fear (78) However, Maly
older brother has just joined a gang in the surrounding area. Sang Ly know now why Maly is so scared
because her brother is in a gang, she will be sold into prostitute: This stunningly innocent and

Girl s from the age of twelve to eighty are being pulled in everyday. The most known today about
human trafficking is with ISIS because they have taken many women to be sex slaves and love to
announce it to the world. In high poverty areas, many family s might even sell their daughters to
brothels for money to eat. Human trafficking has gotten so bad that they have used public
transportations, such as planes and so forth to transfer girls across the world. The nearest high human

Chewing Gum Experiment Hypothesis
The topic that I researched was if chewing gum affected concentration. This was interesting to me
because I ve seen things on the internet that says Chewing gum helps you remember things or chewing
gum helps you concentrate and I wanted to know if it was true. A hypothesis is a prediction statement
that you can test, about the relationship between two variables. The hypothesis for this research is that
I believe that gum does help you concentrate because it helps you stay alert instead of getting
distracted or dozing off. To test this question, there would be two groups of people, one that are
chewing gum and one that are not. First, they are going to receive a sheet of paper with 100 basic
problems on it. Both subjects are going to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Random assignment is when someone assign a participant to experimental and control groups by
chance. This is done to minimize the preexisting differences to the assigned group. To do this, I would
need to give everyone one slip of paper, randomly chosen that says group 1 no gum, group 1 with
gum, group 2 no gum and group 2 with gum. This would make it so that the groups are chosen
randomly. The population would be ten in each group so that would equal forty people in total. These
people would be from the same school, and same grade level to ensure that they are around the same
age. I would ensure that i have a representative sample, a small quantity of something that accurately
reflects the larger population, by testing it on different ages so that it would represent the whole
population instead of just one grade level. Experimenter bias is a process where the person performing
the research influences the results in order to portray a certain outcome. This would not influence my
experiment because everything would be randomized and I wouldn t alter the results because I would
want to know the real answer answer to my research question. To overcome experimenter bias all data

Colonialism And European Imperialism In The 19th Century
Imperialism is not only a movement prevalent throughout history, but also a means for Europe s
superiority complex to shine. Europe began Imperialism as a way of acquiring more land, money and
power. Then, in the 19th century, the post Enlightenment imperialism shifted to the idea that
Europeans were helping the underdeveloped and barbaric civilizations to become more modernized
and no longer backward. European Imperialism is not only about the takeover of territories for benefit
or charity. It was also about cultural Imperialism. Cultural Imperialism from modernized countries
was called Westernization. Europeans brought over not only guns, germs, and steel, but also ideas,
culture, religion and so much more. Imperialism or the fallout of Imperialism has shaped the world
today not only in the physical sense, but the ideology behind it as well. It has encouraged racism,
sexism, and the idea of nations and their peoples being better than others. Imperialism from 1850 until
the present was a bit different than in previous years. This imperialism was driven more by cultural
desires than economic desires, as in the past. Europeans believed that by colonizing and forcing
cultural practices and religion on a country that was considered inferior, they were helping them and
thereby doing God s will. One idea that came about in 1859 was Charles Darwin s natural selection. In
his work On the Origin of Species, Darwin outlines natural selection as any variation, however slight

Galtung Model Of Conflict
Framework Models
We begn by offering a simplified model of johan Galtungs seminal thinking on the relationship
between conflict violence and peace.
Galtung s models of conflict ,violence and peace
İn the late 1960s Johan Galtung proposed an influential model pf conflict that encompasses both
symmetric conflicts he suggested that conflict could be viewed as triangle with contradiction Attitude
and behaviour at its vertices. Here the contradiction refers to the underliyng conflict sitution which
includes the actual or perceieved incompatibility of goals between the conflict parties generated by
chris mitchell calls a mis match between social values and social structure. In a symmetric conflict the
contradiction is defined by the parties their interest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Second we would do well to heed Singer advice that a classificatory system should remain as
atheorical as possible lest by accepting conventiaonal labels of certain armed conflicts we buy into
simplistic interpretations, ultimately embrace disastrous reactions and responses we will succeded in
finding a typology which is logically exhaustive mutually exclusive operationally and substantively
comparable.
These two types of conflict again coincide quite closely with our revolution and identity conflict
except that interstate conflict and non interstate conflict are conflated in the uppsala typology under
the heading territory conflict .
Finally we are also tempted to distinguish revolution and identity conflicts in turn from a third class of
of non interstate conflict factional conflict in which the fightingin is not about revolutionary
ideological or identity issues but about the competing interest or power struggles of political or
criminal factions.

Level Pool Routing Laboratory Report
CIVL4330
Hydrology and Open Channel
University of Newcastle
Results and Discussion:
Reservoir Flows:
Inflow from the tank was calculated using the known internal dimensions of the tank, the % full
reading, and the time step which the data was collected.
Where tank volume is (m3), radius =0.2m, and the depth =2.873m
Where Inflow from the tank), tank volume is (m3), % Full is the percentage of initial tank volume
expressed as a decimal, and change in time is measured in seconds.
The inflow into the tank was then graphed to show the Inflow vs. Time, the results obtained had some

The water level (observed) and water level (simulated) water levels and the variation over time were
graphed below in figure 5.
Figure 5 Predicted vs. experimental h comparison
The data shown in figure 5 demonstrates the adequacy of the Level Pool Routing approximation. The
two water levels run very closely with very little error. The difference between the two can be
attributed to human error when reading the observed times during the experiment.
Conclusion and Recommendations:
A level pool routing experiment was carried out to determine the adequacy of results obtained through
simulated flood routing. The experiment yielded experimental results from which calculations of
inflow; storage and discharge over a weir were obtained. The Energy Grade line from the tank to the
pipe outlet was observed as well as the relationship between the tank discharge to the square root of
height. Noted from this was that height was the driving force of flow from the tank.
Following, a Puls flood routing method was used to simulate the event again with theoretical values.
The relationship between discharge and discharge with storage over time was obtained and used to
calculate theoretical values of discharge and water Level. These were compared with experimental
results and a strong correlation was observed.
Reservoir routing yielded reliable results which

Information Systems for Freight Forwarders
Information Systems Information Systems of Freight Forwarders Introduction Nowadays, Information
systems are crucial for the core processes of freight forwarders. In this report we will address an issue
of the use of a Port Community System. Freight forwarders tend to use their own information systems
for communication, instead of a central platform. Freight forwarders use various information systems
parallel to each other, since these in general are faster or they do not see the benefits of a system such
as Portbase for example. The purpose of this study is to understand the way in which freight
forwarders collect and manage information and how these information systems handle the information
flows in its day to day ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to them it is especially the pan European transportation and the reliable/value added
services offered having the greatest importance. Although it is clear the increasing level of digital
information exchange through a common platform like a PCS is an important aspect for the future.
Currently the forwarding agents only want to reap the benefits of a PCS but are unwilling to bear the
investments necessary due to high switching barrier from the prior to the current system. (Fenex and
Syntens 2010 and van Baalen et al 2008). Only 45% of the participating freight forwarders in the
study by Fenex and Syntens (2010) consider the improvement and adaptation of a PCS as a top 3
priority for the years 2010 and 2011. While a considerable amount of 18% is not planning to improve
or adapt their digital information exchange with other actors for the coming years, due to the fact they
mainly consider a PCS at a similar level as a normal software provider (Leonard Barton 1988 and
Wigand et al 2005). In conclusion it can be said the main drivers for cooperating through a PCS are
increased efficiency by saving time and costs and the decreasing number of mistakes made as
described by Burckhardt et al(1998) and Fenex and Syntens (2010). While the main disadvantage can
be described as the high switching barrier for freight forwarders to adapt its current operations (with it
is own software solutions) towards

Do You Ever Stop And Think About How Much Of Your Life Is...
Do you ever stop and think about how much of your life is actually yours? How many days of your
life do you get to choose what you get to do? Let s look at the average American s working life. Most
people start full time work at 22 years old and retire at 66. They work all day during the week and
usually are too tired after work to do much. So let s focus on the weekends. 2 days of the weekend x
52 weeks a year, add on 10 days of vacation + 9 official government holidays. This comes out to 123
days of your own life a year. If we multiply this by 44 years of working, this equates to 5,412 days
where you get to choose what you get to do. 5,412/365 days in a year is approximately 15 years. 15
out of 44 years are yours. But if you re like most people, you probably answer work emails on the
weekends and are always connected. So that number of 15 years is even lower. Does this sound good
to anyone? (Pepper)
When I first read those numbers, it was a complete eye opener. It is absolutely unbelievable that so
much of our lives are spent away from our families and the things we love doing. What is even more
unbelievable is that spending so much time at work is unnecessary in the 21st century. 200 years ago
when one had to farm all day to provide for their family, sure, a 10 hour workday made sense. But
now? We have the technology to do many of the menial tasks that used to burden us. Not only is the
long work week unnecessary, it is damaging to our health and our

Cesar Frank Biography
Cesar Frank was born on December 10th of 1822, in Liège, Belgium. He is a romantic composer and
organist in the 19th century, who was best known for the movement to give French music an
emotional engagement than German composers. Belgium became an independent state in 1830. It
shares land borders with Germany, France, Luxembourg, and Netherlands. His father and mother are
Germans. Ironically, out of four choices, Cesar Frank leaned more toward France music. According to
the Encyclopaedia Britannica, Franck had a brilliant gift for music that he later entered the Liege
conservatory as a young boy. He won his first prize for fugue in 1840 and his second for organ in
1841. His father was the reason behind his music. His father was ambitious to make his son ... Show

consist of chamber, keyboard, choral, symphony, and vocal. In his work Violin Sonata in A Major , it
is a keyboard and chamber music. His work was inspired by his marriage, which it was first performed
at his wedding celebration. A violin and piano are used, which have a low and high beat throughout
the song. Due to it being in Romantic musical period, and him getting married, this song is perfect. In
the first movement on the song, it has a slow medieval start. As if love could be dangerous and he is

Communication And Networking With Infosys
Collaboration is used in every aspect of human life and can be interpreted in different ways, one might
be the idea of people coming together to do a job through different tools. Using tools such as sign
language, verbal communications telephone, or even the batman signal, today such tools are electronic
messaging and networking with an internet connection (Collaboration Tools, 2015, p. 164). When
Kellogg s noticed employees using different applications, websites, and database systems to
communicate with each other in the plant it become vital that they get a system that would work and
cut much of the back and forth communication out with one site, making it easier and practical to
collaborate with others (Collaboration Tools, 2015, p. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A survey revealed that many companies have engaged security practices with SharePoint for it seems
data is being shared across networks and applications and even beyond the boundaries of the system.
Many workers do not know there are guidelines of who can access the data and what kind of data is
stored on SharePoint. Many employees think since it is a company site it is well protected by a
security defense, while other workers might share with business partners or contractors (Tim Wilson,
2009). If employees ae not cautious with the data any one can get access with a good hacker and
might get critical information to blackmail the company for money or even sell to the highest bidder.
A company just assumes that new and old workers know the rules for the use of company computers
and websites used in collaboration systems. Although some policies differ from others they usually
state the same. If one was a company official and asked to review and rewrite the corporate policy to
avoid any breach of data the best place is to start at the internet itself. The first is to make a policy on
the usage of company computer, internet, and email which should include, but not limited to use the
internet responsibility and productively for company business, no personal business is allowed. The
company owns any computer information received on company property (computer) and can be used

The Definition Of Effective Leadership
Definition of effective leadership
Most historians rank George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and Theodore
Roosevelt as America s finest leaders. Agreement on their quality is so strong, in fact, that in the
1920s, their likenesses were immortalized on Mount Rushmore, which has since become an iconic
symbol of great leadership.
On the other end of the spectrum, Warren G. Harding, Pierce, James Buchanan, and George W. Bush
are ranked as among our worst leaders. Herbert Hoover, John Tyler, and Millard Fillmore sank to the
bottom as well.
The unanimity among these rankings suggests that the qualities that make an effective leader do not
change with place and time, with the governed body or with the situation. America s sixth president,
John Quincy Adams, defined leadership this way: If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn
more, do more and become more, you are a leader. I agree that effective leadership is distinguished by
four critical qualities: passion, vision, emotional intelligence, and confidence. Leaders who possess
these qualities are able to make a positive impact on their institution as Adams did, improving
American life through his strong hand on the wheel of the ship.
Without a leader s clear vision and guidance, a business is like a ship drifting aimlessly. The leader s
vision provides the map, establishing a path that leads to the desired destination. Effective leaders
create clear, concise visions that identify the key actions

How Did The Triple Entente Cause Germany War
Germany was the main cause of the war. This is because they made alliances, they had good military
help, and they were ready for war. Germany backed Austria Hungary to go to war. They did this when
they were in the Triple Alliance with Italy(13). This factored into Germany causing the war. The Triple
Entente was also a factor into Germany causing the war. The Triple Entente included Britain, France,
and Russia. With these three countries all combined, Germany and Austria Hungary were all
uneasy(13). If Germany and Austria Hungary felt uneasy, then Britain, France, and Russia were all in
danger of being attacked by Germany and Austria Hungary. The Schlieffen plan was the plan for
Germany to quickly attack France. The plan was for Russia to then move its troops to the border.
Germany would have already defeated France, and would be moving back to defeat Russia(16). The
problem with this plan, was Germany expected Russia to take six weeks to move its troops to the
border, which would be plenty of time for Germany to defeat France and get back to the border. This
was a bad estimate on Germany s part, when Russia was at the border in ten days. Germany had one
of the strongest militaries around. When Germany attacked France, another country with a strong
military, Germany must have known they had a strong army(18). Since Germany ... Show more

Columbine, By Brian Cullen
The beginning of the nonfiction, Columbine by Dave Cullen, takes place four days before the
Columbine massacre at Columbine High School s assembly in Littleton, Colorado, just before the
weekend of Prom. Ironically, Principal DeAngelis, the one who had hosted the school assembly,
provides a lecture of everyone coming back alive and safe after prom. Soon after, on April 20, 1999,
Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold arrived at Columbine High School with two bombs based on portable
propane bottles, decoy bombs in their cars and across town, and dozens of small pipe bombs, along
with guns and ammunition. Their original and only plan was to shoot anyone and everyone who
escapes from the building after the bombs detonated, and they had expected to be shot to death by
police; however, their plans partly failed when the bombs planted inside the school did not go off.
Although their plan of distraction did not succeed as expected, Harris and Klebold entered the school
and began shooting and firing pipe bombs for a little over fifteen minutes. Afterwards, after roaming
the school for a short amount of time, they returned to the library where most of their victims had
died, set off one final bomb, and committed suicide by shooting themselves. Although their bombing
failed, the ensued shooting resulted in a new era of school violence and had left a lasting impression
on the world. However, by the end of the day, the horrifying incident was falsely blamed on bullying,

Interphase Research Paper
Beginning with mitosis, the cell cycle starts in interphase. Interphase consists of three major events,
which are phases G1, S, and G2. Each phase within interphase prepares the cell differently. In the G1
phase there was an increases in the size of the cell, which allowed it to enter the S phase. Once the cell
was in the S phase, DNA was replicated producing two sister chromatids which were attached at their
centromeres. The process then proceeded into the G2 phase where certain proteins checked the
integrity of the DNA, if everything was in order the cell continued into the mitotic stages. The DNA
content in the G1 phase was the same at the beginning and the end but changed in the S phase. The S
phase began as 2N and ended as 4N meaning the replication of DNA caused four sets of genes to be

Natural Gas Business Scheme
In 2001 to 2008, sales of natural gas from KKKS have never been done in an open tender, natural gas
can be sold directly to natural gas distribution companies without any tender, in other words, KKKS
never announced to the media (newspapers, websites etc.) regarding the potential for natural gas that
will be commercialized. Hence, Natural Gas Distribution companies who have network to KKKS will
benefit from this kind of process. The process of selling gas without open tender as mentioned above
can lead to unethical business behavior, because KKKS is the only one who gained full authorization
from BPMIGAS to control the commercialization process but KKKS did not doing a transparent
business process.
What KKKS doing is not in accordance with the principles of good corporate governance that includes
Transparency, accountability, responsibility, independency, and fairness to attain a company s
sustainability by also considering the interests of stakeholders. (Binhaldi, 2006)
To avoid unethical business behavior, commercialization of natural gas process by KKKS must be
done transparently. KKKS must Provide timely, Appropriate, clear, accurate and comparable
information accessible to stakeholders that their rights commensurate with (Binhaldi , 2006).

Because of this there is much pressure on Scout by her Aunt Alexandra to become more lady like.
Obviously becoming a lady is not one of her foremost goals. In fact, it often seems like Scout would
rather be a boy because they seemed to have more leeway. For example, I could not possibly hope to
be a lady if I wore breeches; when I said I could do nothing in a dress, she said I wasn t supposed to be
doing things that required pants. (108) As Scout gets older despite what she used to think she realizes
being a girl isn t all sitting around and sewing but it is better than that.
Not only does Scout have a tomboy side but she also has a loyal side. She shows traits of loyalty all
throughout the novel. She stands up many times for her father and is particularly loyal to her brother,
Jem. For example, when Jem decided to go back to Boo Radley s house and get his lost pants Scout
threatens to tell Atticus because she feared for her brothers safety. Instead she chooses to be loyal even
after Jem was unpleasant to her. It was no use. I unlatched the back door and held it while he crept

Daniel Story Erika Quotes
In the book Daniel Story, by Carol Matas, the character Erika is admirable because she is creative,
determined and above all she is brave. Erika is someone I would look up to. She goes through a lot,
she still survives the Nazi s, but dies from illness. Erika is creative because she makes her own music.
In Lodz she had her own violin and played her music in their apartment, untill the Nazi s took it away
from her. Another reason Erika is creative is because she came up with her own speech in Lodz. The
speech was very inspiring and even made Daniel, Erika s brother, and Rosa, Erika s best friend,
speechless. The speech read I m ashamed of you, too. Don t you see? This is the way Nazis think.

The Three Types Of Embryonic Stem Cells
1. The three types of stem cells are embryonic stem cells, somatic cells, and induced pluripotent
steams cells, also known as iPS cells. Each has at least one advantage and one disadvantage. The
advantage of embryonic stem cells is that they are not differentiated, meaning that they have not yet
been specialized to function in just one area or purpose in the body. The disadvantage is that the use of
these types of stem cells is very controversial, as the blastocyst they are derived from is the basic
beginnings of human life. Somatic cells are adult stem cells, which can include any cell except for
reproductive germ cells. Unlike embryonic stem cells, there is much less controversy in their use and
good chance that the body will not reject these new cells. The disadvantage is that ... Show more

In addition, these cells could contain unknown mutations for disease that will later affect the host
body. The latest in stem cells is iPS. They are genetically reprogrammed somatic cells that take on the
properties of embryonic stem cells. Once again, there is less controversy, and they are more readily
available to harvest than embryonic stem cells. One drawback is, as I previously mentioned, that this
is a relatively new biotechnology. Research is still ongoing and some of the techniques that are
currently being used to produce cells have created tumors in the host.

recombinant protein. The process will combine the human protein with a vector, a specific DNA
molecule, which will transport the genetic material. This procedure will use a bacterial plasmid. The

The Incarceration Of The Correctional System
The correctional system in America is an umbrella term referring to a range of mandates that entails
the management, supervision, and rehabilitation of convicted offenders. These mandates are often
carried out through incarceration, probation, or parole, while prisons are the most popular correctional
agency in America. Prisons in America were among some of the first public buildings established in
the New World. Early prisons were not considered houses of punishment, but were rather referred to
as temporary holding cells. The history of U.S. prisons from the late 1700s to the late 1800s was
marked by a shift from a penitentiary system primarily concerned with rehabilitation to one concerned
more with warehousing prisoners. The failure of reform minded wardens to justify rehabilitation
caused state legislatures to set economic profitability as the new goal for prisons. The first prisons in
the United States were established as penitentiaries to denote their prisoners as religious penitents.
Early penitentiaries gained global attention for their goals of perfecting society. Despite their high
moral aims, the facilities soon became overcrowded, dirty, and dangerous. Maintaining the behavior
and control of the inmates became their primary focus. It was after the American Revolution that
imprisonment as a form of criminal punishment became a widespread in the United States. The
Jackson Administration use rehabilitative labor as a penalty during the American Civil War.

Summary Of The Musical
1. Desire. Throughout the story of the musical Joseph is mostly trying to rise up and achieve a
worthwhile life while staying true to his faith. Early in the play he interprets his dreams to be about a
higher calling in life than being a farmer like his father and brothers. He tries to be nice to his
brothers, but doesn t realize that his belief about a higher calling is actually causing his brothers to be
jealous. He works hard while a slave for Potiphar, and that earns him a higher position in the
household. But because he holds true to his values Potiphar s Wife accuses him of trying to molest her
when she had been making the advances on him the entire time. The humility that Joseph learns from

He chooses to test them to see if they have changed in the 20 years since they first sold him into
slavery. He has the strength to not punish and to forgive.
3. Moral Stance. Joseph is considered to be a part of one of the earliest generations of the Jewish
people. Faith plays a large part in his life. He also holds a strong value towards family. After years
apart from his brothers and father they are able to reunite again in Egypt. Joseph values the ability to
be useful. His ability to interpret dreams helps him be useful to the Pharaoh, which then allows him to
be useful for the Egyptian people.
4. Decorum. Joseph starts out the story as very naïve. He trusts people will like him because he tries to
be nice. What he does not realize is that while he tried to be nice he also had a larger ego that his
brothers liked. His brothers betray him, but he still tries to show he is a hard worker by working his
way up through the slave ranks in Potiphar s house. When the Pharaoh give him the chance to help
Egypt through the famine he proves to be smart enough and hard working enough to do the job right.
Egypt is saved. He also wants to be seen as righteous, which is challenging for him when he
challenges his brothers. But when they can pass his test and he can forgive them, all is forgiven.

Nt1310 Unit 3 Assignment 3 Counters
We all use counters every day. Whether it be in our watches, or even something like our washing
machines, digital counters are found in nearly anything that involves timing (Electronics Hub, 2015).
Counters have come a very long way over the years, increasing in both efficiency and complexity. One
example of an early counter is the counter developed by Paul Stillman in 1854. This design had a
small manual crank which would turn a dial by one digit each time it was cranked. Once the first dial
had turned by ten digits, it would then turn the next dial by one digit (in a gradual motion). In 1920,
the Veeder Manufacturing Company made a counter that replaced this manual crank, which would
only allow for turning the dials one digit at a time, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As these flip flops have a positive edge trigger for the clock input, this means every time the clock
input goes from LOW to HIGH, it triggers the flip flop, updating the Q output to whatever the D input
is, assuming the SET and RESET inputs of the flip flop are both inactive, which they are in this circuit
(Digital Electronics, 2014). At the start, the D input will be HIGH, because D is connected to the
inverted Q output (PyroElectro, 2013). However, the 555 timer has a HIGH output at the start, but due
to the fact the flip flop triggers when the clock input goes from LOW to HIGH, the counter still starts
off counting from 0, because it takes one count for the clock to go back to LOW then to HIGH again.
As the clock counts, every second count of the previous flip flop will cause the next flip flop to
change state. Thinking back to simple binary theory, this makes sense. As a digit in binary is double
the previous one, every second time the previous digit changes state, the next digit should change state
once. As this is a four bit counter, once the fourth digit changes state from HIGH to LOW, the counter
resets, and counts from zero

Should Speed Limits Be Allowed
I feel that the regulation of speed limits is acceptable. It s safe and responsible when driving on certain
roads. Having limitations on the speed limits reduces deaths and injuries from car crashes.
Additionally, having reduced speed limits near parks and schools, protects the community and the
children living there. People should feel a sense of obligation to follow the speed limits when they
drive.
First, I feel when driving with speed limitations make it safer and responsible for drivers. Without
these limitations, it can put people at risk of car crashes. Car crashes occur every day, so imagine if
there were no speed limits at all how many crashes would occur. No one will know how fast or how

The Jury Of A Jury
Jury Paper The concept of juries dates back to the eighth century. Instead of it being an impartial body
of unbiased people, juries interrogated prisoners. It was not until the fourteenth century that juries
would start to become what we know them today. About three million people are called to serve jury
duty every year in the United States. On average only 1.2 million actually serve their request
according to the American Bar Association. A jury is picked from a jury pool. The jury pool is made
up of around sixty people. These sixty people are questioned and screened by both lawyers to weed
out any that are to bias toward the subject of the case. The first part of jury is picking one person to

Juries in other countries are not quite like ours. In the United Kingdom they do not have a grand jury.
If the judge or police feels that the crime is serious enough it is sent straight to a jury trial. Other
countries such as Canada, Australia, and New Zealand have started to adopt the concept as well. Other
than this a jury trial is set up relatively the same as they are in the United States. Both sides are able to
present evidence to a jury and the jury discusses and comes up with a verdict. A former New York
judge, Sol Wathtler, once said A district attorney could get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich.

able to present evidence such as hearsay and illegally obtained evidence that wouldn t be used in a
jury trial. The defense is not allowed to be in the court when a grand jury is in session, that is the
reason the prosecution is able to present that evidence. This is one major reason why many countries
stopped showing cases in a grand jury. In the United States .027 percent of trial by juries are tried
unfairly. That gives our justice system a 99.973 percent success rate according to researchers from
National Geographic (Hughes, 2014). In a case known as the Affluenza Teen; teenager Ethan Couch

Anemia Decreases the Number of Red Blood Cells Essay
Anemia is a blood condition with decreasing number of red blood cells (RBC) or less than normal
levels of hemoglobin (an essential protein that carries oxygen to your tissues and organs) in the blood.
Anemia usually occurs when individual does not have enough red blood cells the cells that transport
hemoglobin (Hb) throughout your body. [4]
Iron deficiency anemia is a common form of anemia that occurs if person does not have sufficient iron
in body. Without enough iron your body starts using the iron it has stored. Soon, the stored iron gets
used. After the stored iron is used, your body makes fewer red blood cells. The red blood cells it does
make have less hemoglobin than normal. [4]

Anemia is a common comorbidity in HF is associated with increased disease severity and also
contributes to a worse outcome. The mechanism through which anemia contributes to negative
outcome in chronic HF patients is multifactorial and complex. Important factors include, bone marrow
resistance to erythropoietin, renal failure, chronic inflammation, medication use and hematinic
deficiencies, in particular iron deficiency (ID). Generally, the presence of ID is only considered
clinically relevant in the presence of anemia. However, a decreased hemoglobin levels can be viewed
as the end result of a process beginning with gradual depletion of iron stores. Even if patients are not
anemic, ID already may be common in chronic HF, with or without anemia, is associated with
decreased aerobic performance and exercise intolerance, recently also shown in chronic HF. [5]
Anemia is an independent factor in mortality in people with chronic heart failure. Anemia, or a low
level of hemoglobin in the blood, is much linked to heart disease because the heart has to work harder
to pump more blood and oxygen through the body [4]. Iron deficiency in heart failure can be due to a
number of factors, it may be caused by a lack of nutrients in a person s diet or by the body s inability
to absorb nutrients from food. Heart failure can also cause a back up of fluid (edema). This edema
produces a higher volume of blood plasma (the liquid part of blood), which can dilute red

information from the lawyers. A secure link will be emailed to the lawyers to be able to access the

they contacted to solve the issues, and how the lawyers solve technical problems with their equipment.
In the scenario. There are two groups of lawyers. One group has some technical skills and understands
basic networking, and the other group does not understand anything about technology. We had a

The Language Of The English Language Essay
The English language has been the language that most people use in conversations and in everyday
life. According to Carmen Santillana (2013), English is the most used language in the world, and there
are one out of five people that can speak or understand the English language. There are 53 countries
whose main language is English. According to a research in the US, it takes 4 7 years or even 10 years
for a student in the US to develop their academic language proficiency (p. 85). Every country has their
own language that is used mostly in conversing. Although Filipinos are used to using their mother
language in casual conversations, English should be the medium of instruction for world history
because it is appropriate, suitable, and practical. People are used to using their mother language
because this is the language that they are familiar with. The mother language is the language that
people use ever since they were born. It is the language that their parents first used to talk to them. For
some people, their mother language is the most uncomplicated mean in communicating with their
peers. People easily understand each other if it is the language that they were used to ever since they
grew up. If people understand each other easily, they would not have a hard time in conversing with
each other. Technology has been changing people s lives these days. People wanted everything to be

Analysis Of The Margolin s Lawsuit With The Rules Of...
When considering the facts of the Margolin s lawsuit with the rules of jurisdiction, first one must
understand when personal jurisdiction and subject matter jurisdiction would be applicable. As stated in
the textbook, Personal Jurisdiction is a court s power to render a decision affecting the rights of the
specific persons before the court. Generally, a court s power to exercise in personam jurisdiction
extends only over a specific geographic region. (Kubasek, pg.42, 2009). Before a court can decide to
implement control over a person, they require a minimum contact within the district in which the court
is over. In this case, the minimum contact was established over the internet when Margolin inputted
information over the internet that completed the business transaction. Since the contact is through the
internet, and not within boundaries of the state of California or Florida, the court can exercise personal
jurisdiction Margolin s lawsuit over Funny Face and Novelty Now (Kubasek, 2009).
The subject matter jurisdiction is the courts authority to judge particular lawsuits in federal or state
courts. As discussed in the textbook, Subject matter jurisdiction determines which court system may
hear a particular case (Kubasek, pg.44, 2009). Novelty One s website states that all complaints must
be settled with the state of Florida when filed against Funny Face or Novelty One. Therefore, the
lawsuit against Novelty One will need to be filed with the state of Florida courts.

Many companies produced PCBs in the 1930 s and 1940 s and because the chemical does not
decompose, PCBs are still present in soil and rivers, subsequently ending up in fish and other wildlife.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), PCBs build up in the environment, and
larger concentrations are found higher in the food chain. Eating contaminated fish is the most likely
way for PCBs to get into the human body. In 1997, the EPA banned the production of PCB s and they
were classified as a probable human carcinogen.
DREDGING
Dredging is the removal of soil or material from the bottom of a river, lake or ocean harbor. (Encarta

dredging, and environmental dredging. Navigation and construction dredging are used to remove
sediment that has accumulated to a level where the water depth is insufficient to support safe
navigation (Huskie 2). Navigation dredging tends to use large open clamshell dredges. Environmental
dredging utilizes hydraulic dredges that act as a vacuum to remove contaminated sediments such as

Duty Of Care Case Summary
1. In this case Ms. Smith might sue a building management for entering her apartment with out her
consent or, at least, the notice. However, that statement might be rejected since the building manager
had to act fast in order to prevent further damages, caused by flooding, for Ms. Smith s and her
neighbor s apartments. There is no tort occurred because Mr. Johnson had a legal authority to enter
Ms. Smith s apartment. On the other hand, the tort occurred when Mr. Johnson moved Ms. Smith s
goods from her apartment to the locker. In this case, we can say that those goods are chattels, which
are movable forms of property. Trespass to chattels occurs when a person interferes with chattels that

First of all, she has to prove that defendant owes her a duty of care. It must be reasonable foreseeable
that Ms. Smith s goods could be damaged or stolen by the carelessness of the building management.
And, even if that was foreseeable, there might not be any policy considerations that would make it
unfair to impose duty of care. When Ms. Smith proves that building management has to properly
maintain locker premises and provide a decent security, she can move to the second step. She has to
prove that the defendant breached the standard of care. Since Mr. Johnson didn t provide enough
security to the locker and acted less carefully, the standard of care was breached. The standard of care
is based on the Reasonable Person Test , which means that Mr. Johnson must had acted in the same
way that a reasonable person would act in similar circumstances. This means that Mr. Johnson had to
provide security measures in order to keep Ms. Smith s goods safe. Next, Ms. Smith has to prove that
the harm was caused. Ms. Smith has to prove that she would not have suffered a loss of stolen goods
but for the defendant s carelessness. If she will prove that there is at least a 51% chance that the Mr.
Johnson s carelessness caused her loss, then the court will award damages for all of that loss. Finally,
Ms. Smith has to prove that that type of harm she suffered was a reasonably foreseeable result of the
defendant s carelessness. This can be proved by doing a remoteness test. When

Work can cause many issues with oneself and society. There can be a inner struggle in someone if they

In the poem The Lady in the Pink Mustang by Louise Erdrich the speaker tells the story of a women in

None of these poems have a hidden meaning and each author had a significant way of showing the
meaning. Erich and Baca follow the template of poetry. Whereas, Tate uses the template of poetry in

The Pink Mustang the speaker explains in the end that she is not proud of her job but she has to make
a living somehow and until she runs out of money she will do what she has to. In The Restaurant
Business Tate parallels to Erdrich by having the restaurant owner pose the argument that though he
works for his own sadness, if he choices to leave the business he loses his seat of having a title and
even though he hates to work that s the only bit of happiness he has left. Lastly the speaker in Baca s
poem constructs a real life argument and turns the whole piece of work in a political poem by arguing
the discussion of jobs in America. All of these works show that work is hard but it is real and
sometimes it is not a realistic job and not everyone will agree with the job title or job

The LEED criteria are recognized as the building having a positive performance in five areas of
human and environmental health, therefore making the building safer and healthier to live in. When
we think sustainability, it s important that we consider the surrounding, for examples the trees, rivers
and lakes, streets, neighbors and more. The impact of architecture is not only for the building but for
its natural surroundings, by taking advantage of each natural source, to have the building sustain itself
in terms of reducing energy use, taking advantage of storm water and using that for flushing toilets,
using sun light to warm the room and so forth. Sustainability also refers to the life of the building
itself, how long will the building last after it s finished. Green buildings are made of recyclable
material that help the building last longer in structure, its feature is what make it unique to last longer
than average buildings.
Benefits of Green Buildings
Green Buildings have become more than just buildings; they have become a structural living
organism. Green Buildings offer a safer and healthier living environment for the occupants; this can
contribute to an increase in human lifespan, due to minimum exposure to chemical paint materials and
more. They also reduce energy bills due to the features incorporated such as solar panels, which
generate energy by solar radiation. An open glazing design building that offers maximum sunlight into

Gay Marriage Should be Legal Essay
There can be no question about the definition of marriage. There is considerable evidence form
history, the origins of the word, and even its current legal use. Yet, somehow there is still tension and
confusion surrounding the issue of same sex marriage. As the debate intensifies, emotional ones
quickly replace rational thoughts. Lately, homosexuals carry out most of the fight for the right to be
married. Of course, there are several other situations, in which people attempt to challenge traditional
matrimony. There was the man who tried to marry his horse. Mormons still practice polygamy, but
just as these scenarios do not fit the definition of marriage, neither does same sex marriage. Civil
unions were created by certain states to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a state legalizes same sex marriage, no other state has to recognize it, according to the Defense of
Marriage Act. Cultures, Christian religions, and laws still define marriage as the union between one
man and one woman. To many people, marriage is a religious institution. Churches became the
communal centers of society, because of the growing popularity of Christianity in Middle Age Europe.
They began to govern society and started to keep a record of holy matrimonies. Several different
religions immigrated to the Americas with the Europeans, but the most common theme was
Christianity. Roman Catholics, Quakers, Protestants and Jews, for example, each have their own
versions of the bible, but they are all based on Christian beliefs. American Christians accept the
definition of marriage as being of one man and one woman, because of their religious teachings. The
bible specifically mentions that God does not permit same sex marriage. Homosexuality was
forbidden by most European societies. Since the church was the center of many communities, their
rules would preside over the people in fear of the wrath of God. Our laws reflect many traditions of
the Church because Christian men founded the United States. America is still regarded as a Christian
nation, because she has implemented holy sacraments, such as marriage into the society. Not every
marriage was recorded by the church and before the church began

History Essay Spanish Civil War
What were the key effects of the Spanish Civil War? Spanish Civil War was war which lasted from
1936 to 1939. For the Spanish it was “total” war, because whole available arms, weapons,
economy and other sectors of country were included in this war. But the Spanish Civil War was
“limited” war for foreign powers, since they hadn’t been directly included into the conflict.
In this war the new technology was very significant, especially dominance of the airpower. Control of
the sea was very important, too. These two segments played very important role in making decision of
who is going to win the war. On the other hand, the war on land took the biggest number of lives, and
that was one of the important consequences of the war. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The result of the Spanish Civil War was that Britain and France, by drawing closer together, moved
further away from Italy and the Soviet Union. Both Italy and to a lesser extent the USSR were
subsequently drawn toward Germany. Furthermore, the Spanish Civil War and Britain and France s
Non Intervention policy led Hitler to begin to believe that he could manipulate the weak democracies
to achieve his foreign policy ends. Now it is a question to what extent was the Spanish Civil War a
cause of World War

Essay about Narrative of Life of Frederick Douglass
Published in 1845, Narrative of life of Frederick Douglass an American slave written by himself is
still the most highly acclaimed American autobiography ever written. It was published seven years
after Douglass escaped from his life as a slave in Maryland. It describes his experience of being slave
and his psychological insights into the slave master relationship. The main focus is on How he learn to
read and write and the pain of slavery. The goal of this paper is to bring more insight analysis of his
narrative life through the most famous two chapter s in which he defines, How he learn to read and
write and The pain of slavery. To achieve this goal, the paper is organized into four main sections.
First, author background and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Analysis Douglass s Narrative displays how white slaveholders continue slavery by keeping their
slaves uninformed. At the time Douglass was writing, many people thought that slavery was a normal
state of being. They believed that blacks were naturally incapable of participating in civil society and
thus should be kept as labors for whites. The Narrative explains the tactics and measures by which
whites gain and keep power over blacks from their birth onward. Slave owners keep slaves
uninformed of basic facts about themselves, such as their birth date or their parents. This enforced
ignorance deprives children of their natural sense of distinct identity. As slave children grow up, slave
owners prevent them from learning to read and write, as learning would give them a sense of self
sufficiency and capability. Slave masters understand that knowledge would lead slaves to question the
right of whites to keep slaves. Lastly, by keeping slaves illiterate, Southern slave masters maintain
control over what the rest of America knows about slavery. If slaves cannot write, their picture of the
slavery story cannot be told. Wendell Phillips states this point in his prefatory letter to the Narrative.
Just as slave masters keep people as slaves by depriving them of knowledge and education, slaves
need to seek knowledge and education in order to track freedom. It is from Hugh Auld that Douglass
learns this idea that knowledge should be the way to

Importance Of Allocation Of Land In Kenya
24.1 Allocation of public land It involves the state or the government transferring its rights, use, and
ownership of land to the citizens of the country, According to section 12(1) of the Land Act, the
National Land Commission (NLC) has responsibilities of allocating public land on behalf of the
National or County Governments.(Source: Guides on Land Administration in Kenya). Alienation of
land to members is done by passing through the following law applications which include Local
Government Act, Physical Planning Act, Land Control Act, Government Land Act, and others.
Planning process on public land are drawn up by the National Land Commission so as to prepare for
physical development and these plans should be approved by the various physical planning officers
for confirmation or any changes and then transferred to the final office known as the ministry of land
for approval then to the Department of surveyors to survey the land and various measurements and
others process that follow afterwards during the development process .The main disadvantage of this
process is acquiring a land title after allocation of land can be very long and tedious. The steps
involved during the procedure of acquiring a title deed after allocation of public land include
acceptance of an offer to the National Land Commission, land surveying, preparation of lease
documents, clearance of payments (stamp duty and getting the rent and clearance certificate), and
registration of the lease. 2.4.2 Adjudication It can be defined as recording rights and interests of land/
existing rights and claims of people to land. This process is governed by the Land Adjudication Act
Cap 287, adjudication is also when a title to land is registered for the first time/ first stage in the
registration of title to land in areas where the ownership of the parcel of land is unknown. After the
land adjudication process, a land adjudication register is created. The adjudication register is
composed of a demarcation map and adjudication record. Each parcel number of land is indicated on
the map which corresponds to the adjudication record that contains the registration section, parcel
number, name of the owner, and size of the land and details of the registry map

The Rent collector is based in Stung Meanchey, Cambodia, and basically the entire city is a garbage dump. Sang Ly, is a mother with a very sick son, that must pick through garbage for an income. Surrounding the garbage are aggressive gangs that will trample anyone in their way. If you don t get killed by a garbage truck, then the gangs will get you. However, because of these aggressive gangs, human trafficking becomes a problem. One normal day at the dump in Stung Meanchey, Sang Ly was going through trash. When her good friend, Lucky, comes running to her because a young girl is bleeding. This young girl name is Maly, and she is absolutely terrified of the situation. Later Sang Ly explains that she has turned into a women and should be very proud: You are experiencing what is called todos, meaning season, I add. • 3. Chewing Gum Experiment Hypothesis The topic that I researched was if chewing gum affected concentration. This was interesting to me because I ve seen things on the internet that says Chewing gum helps you remember things or chewing gum helps you concentrate and I wanted to know if it was true. A hypothesis is a prediction statement that you can test, about the relationship between two variables. The hypothesis for this research is that I believe that gum does help you concentrate because it helps you stay alert instead of getting distracted or dozing off. To test this question, there would be two groups of people, one that are chewing gum and one that are not. First, they are going to receive a sheet of paper with 100 basic problems on it. Both subjects are going to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Random assignment is when someone assign a participant to experimental and control groups by chance. This is done to minimize the preexisting differences to the assigned group. To do this, I would need to give everyone one slip of paper, randomly chosen that says group 1 no gum, group 1 with gum, group 2 no gum and group 2 with gum. This would make it so that the groups are chosen randomly. The population would be ten in each group so that would equal forty people in total. These people would be from the same school, and same grade level to ensure that they are around the same age. I would ensure that i have a representative sample, a small quantity of something that accurately reflects the larger population, by testing it on different ages so that it would represent the whole population instead of just one grade level. Experimenter bias is a process where the person performing the research influences the results in order to portray a certain outcome. This would not influence my experiment because everything would be randomized and I wouldn t alter the results because I would want to know the real answer answer to my research question. • 4. Colonialism And European Imperialism In The 19th Century Imperialism is not only a movement prevalent throughout history, but also a means for Europe s superiority complex to shine. Europe began Imperialism as a way of acquiring more land, money and power. Then, in the 19th century, the post Enlightenment imperialism shifted to the idea that Europeans were helping the underdeveloped and barbaric civilizations to become more modernized and no longer backward. European Imperialism is not only about the takeover of territories for benefit or charity. It was also about cultural Imperialism. Cultural Imperialism from modernized countries was called Westernization. Europeans brought over not only guns, germs, and steel, but also ideas, culture, religion and so much more. Imperialism or the fallout of Imperialism has shaped the world today not only in the physical sense, but the ideology behind it as well. It has encouraged racism, sexism, and the idea of nations and their peoples being better than others. Imperialism from 1850 until the present was a bit different than in previous years. This imperialism was driven more by cultural desires than economic desires, as in the past. Europeans believed that by colonizing and forcing cultural practices and religion on a country that was considered inferior, they were helping them and thereby doing God s will. One idea that came about in 1859 was Charles Darwin s natural selection. In his work On the Origin of Species, Darwin outlines natural selection as any variation, however slight and ... Figure 5 Predicted vs. experimental h comparison The data shown in figure 5 demonstrates the adequacy of the Level Pool Routing approximation. The two water levels run very closely with very little error. The difference between the two can be attributed to human error when reading the observed times during the experiment. Conclusion and Recommendations: A level pool routing experiment was carried out to determine the adequacy of results obtained through simulated flood routing. The experiment yielded experimental results from which calculations of inflow; storage and discharge over a weir were obtained. The Energy Grade line from the tank to the pipe outlet was observed as well as the relationship between the tank discharge to the square root of height. Noted from this was that height was the driving force of flow from the tank. Following, a Puls flood routing method was used to simulate the event again with theoretical values. The relationship between discharge and discharge with storage over time was obtained and used to calculate theoretical values of discharge and water Level. These were compared with experimental results and a strong correlation was observed. Reservoir routing yielded reliable results which

Information Systems for Freight Forwarders Information Systems Information Systems of Freight Forwarders Introduction Nowadays, Information systems are crucial for the core processes of freight forwarders. In this report we will address an issue of the use of a Port Community System. Freight forwarders tend to use their own information systems for communication, instead of a central platform. Freight forwarders use various information systems parallel to each other, since these in general are faster or they do not see the benefits of a system such as Portbase for example. Although it is clear the increasing level of digital information exchange through a common platform like a PCS is an important aspect for the future. Currently the forwarding agents only want to reap the benefits of a PCS but are unwilling to bear the investments necessary due to high switching barrier from the prior to the current system. (Fenex and Syntens 2010 and van Baalen et al 2008). Only 45% of the participating freight forwarders in the study by Fenex and Syntens (2010) consider the improvement and adaptation of a PCS as a top 3 priority for the years 2010 and 2011. While a considerable amount of 18% is not planning to improve or adapt their digital information exchange with other actors for the coming years, due to the fact they mainly consider a PCS at a similar level as a normal software provider (Leonard Barton 1988 and Wigand et al 2005). In conclusion it can be said the main drivers for cooperating through a PCS are increased efficiency by saving time and costs and the decreasing number of mistakes made as described by Burckhardt et al(1998) and Fenex and Syntens (2010). While the main disadvantage can be described as the high switching barrier for freight forwarders to adapt its current operations (with it is own software solutions) towards ... How many days of your life do you get to choose what you get to do? Let s look at the average American s working life. Most people start full time work at 22 years old and retire at 66. They work all day during the week and usually are too tired after work to do much. So let s focus on the weekends. 2 days of the weekend x 52 weeks a year, add on 10 days of vacation + 9 official government holidays. This comes out to 123 days of your own life a year. If we multiply this by 44 years of working, this equates to 5,412 days where you get to choose what you get to do. 5,412/365 days in a year is approximately 15 years. 15 out of 44 years are yours. But if you re like most people, you probably answer work emails on the weekends and are always connected. So that number of 15 years is even lower. Does this sound good to anyone? (Pepper) When I first read those numbers, it was a complete eye opener. It is absolutely unbelievable that so much of our lives are spent away from our families and the things we love doing. What is even more unbelievable is that spending so much time at work is unnecessary in the 21st century. 200 years ago when one had to farm all day to provide for their family, sure, a 10 hour workday made sense. But now? We have the technology to do many of the menial tasks that used to burden us. Not only is the long work week unnecessary, it is damaging to our health and our ... • 12. The Definition Of Effective Leadership Definition of effective leadership Most historians rank George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and Theodore Roosevelt as America s finest leaders. Agreement on their quality is so strong, in fact, that in the 1920s, their likenesses were immortalized on Mount Rushmore, which has since become an iconic symbol of great leadership. On the other end of the spectrum, Warren G. Harding, Pierce, James Buchanan, and George W. Bush are ranked as among our worst leaders. Herbert Hoover, John Tyler, and Millard Fillmore sank to the bottom as well. The unanimity among these rankings suggests that the qualities that make an effective leader do not change with place and time, with the governed body or with the situation. America s sixth president, John Quincy Adams, defined leadership this way: If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader. I agree that effective leadership is distinguished by four critical qualities: passion, vision, emotional intelligence, and confidence. Leaders who possess these qualities are able to make a positive impact on their institution as Adams did, improving American life through his strong hand on the wheel of the ship. Without a leader s clear vision and guidance, a business is like a ship drifting aimlessly. The leader s vision provides the map, establishing a path that leads to the desired destination. Effective leaders create clear, concise visions that identify the key actions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Germany backed Austria Hungary to go to war. They did this when they were in the Triple Alliance with Italy(13). This factored into Germany causing the war. The Triple Entente was also a factor into Germany causing the war. The Triple Entente included Britain, France, and Russia. With these three countries all combined, Germany and Austria Hungary were all uneasy(13). If Germany and Austria Hungary felt uneasy, then Britain, France, and Russia were all in danger of being attacked by Germany and Austria Hungary. The Schlieffen plan was the plan for Germany to quickly attack France. The plan was for Russia to then move its troops to the border. Germany would have already defeated France, and would be moving back to defeat Russia(16). The problem with this plan, was Germany expected Russia to take six weeks to move its troops to the border, which would be plenty of time for Germany to defeat France and get back to the border. Columbine, By Brian Cullen The beginning of the nonfiction, Columbine by Dave Cullen, takes place four days before the Columbine massacre at Columbine High School s assembly in Littleton, Colorado, just before the weekend of Prom. Ironically, Principal DeAngelis, the one who had hosted the school assembly, provides a lecture of everyone coming back alive and safe after prom. Soon after, on April 20, 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold arrived at Columbine High School with two bombs based on portable propane bottles, decoy bombs in their cars and across town, and dozens of small pipe bombs, along with guns and ammunition. Their original and only plan was to shoot anyone and everyone who escapes from the building after the bombs detonated, and they had expected to be shot to death by police; however, their plans partly failed when the bombs planted inside the school did not go off. Although their plan of distraction did not succeed as expected, Harris and Klebold entered the school and began shooting and firing pipe bombs for a little over fifteen minutes. Afterwards, after roaming the school for a short amount of time, they returned to the library where most of their victims had died, set off one final bomb, and committed suicide by shooting themselves. Although their bombing failed, the ensued shooting resulted in a new era of school violence and had left a lasting impression on the world. Once the cell was in the S phase, DNA was replicated producing two sister chromatids which were attached at their centromeres. The process then proceeded into the G2 phase where certain proteins checked the integrity of the DNA, if everything was in order the cell continued into the mitotic stages. Each has at least one advantage and one disadvantage. The advantage of embryonic stem cells is that they are not differentiated, meaning that they have not yet been specialized to function in just one area or purpose in the body. The disadvantage is that the use of these types of stem cells is very controversial, as the blastocyst they are derived from is the basic beginnings of human life. Somatic cells are adult stem cells, which can include any cell except for reproductive germ cells. The Incarceration Of The Correctional System The correctional system in America is an umbrella term referring to a range of mandates that entails the management, supervision, and rehabilitation of convicted offenders. These mandates are often carried out through incarceration, probation, or parole, while prisons are the most popular correctional agency in America. Prisons in America were among some of the first public buildings established in the New World. Early prisons were not considered houses of punishment, but were rather referred to as temporary holding cells. The history of U.S. prisons from the late 1700s to the late 1800s was marked by a shift from a penitentiary system primarily concerned with rehabilitation to one concerned more with warehousing prisoners. The failure of reform minded wardens to justify rehabilitation caused state legislatures to set economic profitability as the new goal for prisons. The first prisons in the United States were established as penitentiaries to denote their prisoners as religious penitents. Early penitentiaries gained global attention for their goals of perfecting society. Despite their high moral aims, the facilities soon became overcrowded, dirty, and dangerous. Maintaining the behavior and control of the inmates became their primary focus. • 28. Nt1310 Unit 3 Assignment 3 Counters We all use counters every day. Whether it be in our watches, or even something like our washing machines, digital counters are found in nearly anything that involves timing (Electronics Hub, 2015). Counters have come a very long way over the years, increasing in both efficiency and complexity. One example of an early counter is the counter developed by Paul Stillman in 1854. This design had a small manual crank which would turn a dial by one digit each time it was cranked. Once the first dial had turned by ten digits, it would then turn the next dial by one digit (in a gradual motion). In 1920, the Veeder Manufacturing Company made a counter that replaced this manual crank, which would only allow for turning the dials one digit at a time, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As these flip flops have a positive edge trigger for the clock input, this means every time the clock input goes from LOW to HIGH, it triggers the flip flop, updating the Q output to whatever the D input is, assuming the SET and RESET inputs of the flip flop are both inactive, which they are in this circuit (Digital Electronics, 2014). At the start, the D input will be HIGH, because D is connected to the inverted Q output (PyroElectro, 2013). However, the 555 timer has a HIGH output at the start, but due to the fact the flip flop triggers when the clock input goes from LOW to HIGH, the counter still starts off counting from 0, because it takes one count for the clock to go back to LOW then to HIGH again. As the clock counts, every second count of the previous flip flop will cause the next flip flop to change state. Thinking back to simple binary theory, this makes sense. As a digit in binary is double the previous one, every second time the previous digit changes state, the next digit should change state once. As this is a four bit counter, once the fourth digit changes state from HIGH to LOW, the counter resets, and counts from zero ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both sides are able to present evidence to a jury and the jury discusses and comes up with a verdict. In The Restaurant Business Tate parallels to Erdrich by having the restaurant owner pose the argument that though he works for his own sadness, if he choices to leave the business he loses his seat of having a title and even though he hates to work that s the only bit of happiness he has left. Lastly the speaker in Baca s poem constructs a real life argument and turns the whole piece of work in a political poem by arguing the discussion of jobs in America. All of these works show that work is hard but it is real and sometimes it is not a realistic job and not everyone will agree with the job title or job ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cultures, Christian religions, and laws still define marriage as the union between one man and one woman. To many people, marriage is a religious institution. Churches became the communal centers of society, because of the growing popularity of Christianity in Middle Age Europe. They began to govern society and started to keep a record of holy matrimonies. Several different religions immigrated to the Americas with the Europeans, but the most common theme was Christianity. Roman Catholics, Quakers, Protestants and Jews, for example, each have their own versions of the bible, but they are all based on Christian beliefs. American Christians accept the definition of marriage as being of one man and one woman, because of their religious teachings. The bible specifically mentions that God does not permit same sex marriage. Homosexuality was forbidden by most European societies. Since the church was the center of many communities, their rules would preside over the people in fear of the wrath of God. Our laws reflect many traditions of the Church because Christian men founded the United States. America is still regarded as a Christian nation, because she has implemented holy sacraments, such as marriage into the society. Analysis Douglass s Narrative displays how white slaveholders continue slavery by keeping their slaves uninformed. At the time Douglass was writing, many people thought that slavery was a normal state of being. They believed that blacks were naturally incapable of participating in civil society and thus should be kept as labors for whites. The Narrative explains the tactics and measures by which whites gain and keep power over blacks from their birth onward. Slave owners keep slaves uninformed of basic facts about themselves, such as their birth date or their parents. This enforced ignorance deprives children of their natural sense of distinct identity. As slave children grow up, slave owners prevent them from learning to read and write, as learning would give them a sense of self sufficiency and capability. Slave masters understand that knowledge would lead slaves to question the right of whites to keep slaves. Lastly, by keeping slaves illiterate, Southern slave masters maintain control over what the rest of America knows about slavery. If slaves cannot write, their picture of the slavery story cannot be told. Wendell Phillips states this point in his prefatory letter to the Narrative. Just as slave masters keep people as slaves by depriving them of knowledge and education, slaves need to seek knowledge and education in order to track freedom. It is from Hugh Auld that Douglass learns this idea that knowledge should be the way to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
