3. ABSTRACT
In Baleno, Masbate, copra making is the main livelihood of
the people. The copra farmers in the municipality of
Baleno are a part of poverty. This study aims to know the
conditions and the problems faced by the copra farmers in
Baleno, Masbate. It is also analysis the current state of
the copra industry in the municipality and measure the
extent of support given by the government both local and
national in the industry. Ultimately this study seeks for
the root cause of why the copra farmers remain poor and to
provide recommendations of address their problems.
4. CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
Background of the study
Coconut Nucifera is the scientific name of coconut and its belong to the
palm Family. In the province of Masbate most of the livelihood is the copra
production, since day one up to present, copra production is one of the most
important matter in the daily live of the people. Because many products are
provided in the coconut tree.
The coconut trees here in the Philippine's are so useful to the people and
also to our economy, because the tax that provided in the owner of Copra
Product are going to collect by the Government. And it uses to help the
poor people here in our country also when we have a calamity the fund of the
local or national government maybe use to helping to us.
Many products are given by the coconut example, brooms, planks, ingredients
for the dishes pipes, the wine produced by coconut, also the body will make
a wood to construct a house and etc. The researchers are knowing the
importance of copra product here in Baleno and the valve of this livelihood
to us.
5. CHAPTER II
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
Foreign Literature
The native habitat for the coconut palm is unknown because coconut
is dispersed by water although human activity could be credited
(child 1972). Of all the cultivated trees in the world, the coconut
palm has the widest geographical range (Ghai and Wadhi 1983).
Ninety percent (90%) of the world’s coconut average within 20◦ N
and 20◦ S of the equator (wood roof, 1970 and parsley, 1992).
Local literature
The coconut is the one of the most important industries in the
Philippines. The country remains to be a leading producer and
exporter of coconut in the world with an export of 14.73 million
metric tons in 2020, next to Indonesia with 18.55 millions metric
tones. Coconut provides significant income, employment and foreign
exchange to the Philippines economy.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Method used
The survey questionnaires checklist method is used to gathered the
data from the chosen respondents.
Research Design
This study is a descriptive survey by distributing the
questionnaires. The coconut farmers and buyers to gathered the
necessary data from the chosen respondents. It examines a specific
phenomenon. The Socioeconomic importance and effect of the copra
industry from farm to market in the Municipality of Baleno.
This study will start by collecting data to answer the research
question. The study will be using sampling method to choose the
respondents from coconut farmers and buyers in Municipality of
Baleno. All of the coconut farmers and buyers are considered as a
part of this study.
7. Research Instrument Used
This study will use a random sampling method, in which the selection of the
respondents are based on their availability through the use of sampling
method with the solvent formula of n=(1+Ne2) where N for the total population
and Ne for the margin of error the selected respondents of this study come
from the different section of farmers with a co-researchers.
Respondents of the Study
The respondents of the study from coconut farmers in the Municipality of
Baleno with a total of 20 respondents.
Data Gathering Procedure
In order to gather the necessary data needed, the researchers will first
conduct a brainstorming activity on how they will smoothly gather the data.
Second, after knowing the copra’s production process, the researchers will
male checklist the questionnaires to collect the needed data from the chosen
respondents. Third, the researchers will make a letter and ask for approval
from the instructor to the request of conducting the said research. Fourth,
when the instructor approves the request, the researchers will start to
survey the target respondents in a specific location. Lastly, the researchers
will determine the sources used in identifying the references.

18. CHAPTER V
SUMMARY, CONCLUSION, RECOMMENDATION
Summary
A study on the correlatives of copra production to the socio-economic importance and
effects of the copra industry from farm to market in the Municipality of Baleno was
conducted from February 24, 2023.
The study used the descriptive method of research. A questionnaires-checklist was used
to gather the data on the correlation of copra production the socio-economic importance
and effects of the copra industry from farm to market in the Municipality of Baleno.
A total of 20 respondents were coconut farmers and buyers from Three (3) Barangay’s
here in Municipality of Baleno.
The gathered data were tally and simple percentage frequency count were computed.
Results were analyzed solvent formula n=N(1+Ne2) to determine whether a significant
relationship between n=number of sample, Ne= number of margin, n=total number of
production.
19. The coconut or copra is very important to the residents of Baleno because, it is one of the
most livelihood here. The researchers want to know the importance and effects of copra farming,
not here in Baleno but also in out country. The products produced by coconut are very unique
and useful to us, many products of coconut may be produced like oil brooms, plants, ingredients
for dishes, or wine from the coconut and the stem or body maybe used to construct of house
example, the copper or coco lumber. The researchers are gathering the data through survey
within 20 respondents in the Baleno. And focuses in the effects or importance of this research.
Conclusion
In conclusion, this research study has shed light to the socio-economic importance and effect
of copra industry from farm to market in the Municipality of Baleno. The copra industry plays a
significant role in the local economy, providing livelihood opportunities to a substantial
number of individual contributing to the overall development of the community. The study
highlighted the positive impact of the copra industry on the socio-economic well-being of
farmers and the others stakeholders involve in the value of chains. The cultivation of coconut
trees for copra production not only provides a source of income for farmers but also support
the local economy by generating employment opportunities and stimulating business activities.
20. Furthermore, the copra industry ripple effect on various sectors on the Municipality was
evident. The income generated from copra production is often reinvested in the community,
leading to improved living standard, infrastructure development, and enhanced access to
essential services such as education and healthcare.
However, the study is also uncovered challenges and potential negative effects associated with
the copra industry. Factors such as climate change, fluctuating market price, and limited
access to modern farming techniques and technologies were identified as obstacles that
hindered the industry grow and the socio-economic progress of stakeholders. To overcome this
challenges , it is crucial for the Municipality of Baleno to implement target intervention and
support mechanism . This could include providing farmers with access to training programs
sustainable farming practices promoting diversification of agricultural activities, and
establishing cooperative networks to enhance bargaining power in the market. In summary, the
copra industry plays a vital role and the socio-economic landscape the Municipality of Baleno.
By recognizing its important and addressing the challenges it faces local authorities,
stakeholders, and policy maker can faster a sustainable and thriving copra industry that
benefits the community at large. Future research and collaboration are needed to ensure the
long-term viability and inclusive growth of the copra industry in Baleno.
21. Recommendation
In the light of the findings of the study, the following recommendations
are offered:
1. Framers should practice intercropping to obtain additional income other
than copra.
2. The coconut farmers should be encouraged to attend seminars regarding
coconut related topics to enhances, improve and hasten their strategies
in coconut farming.
3. Farmers should follow the recommendation practices in coconut production
to obtain high quality of copra could demand a high buying price.
