2. INTRODUCTION
● The phenomenon of globalization has significantly influenced the educational
landscape in the Philippines, with a notable surge in the adoption of English-
centric bilingual education.
● There is a growing recognition of the need to balance linguistic competence
with the preservation and celebration of students' cultural identity.
● Proficiency in English is crucial not only for international competitiveness but
also as a tool for communication and collaboration in various global contexts.

3. RESEARCH QUESTIONS
● How does the current English-centric bilingual education system in the Philippines address cultural
sensitivity?
● What are the challenges faced by educators in integrating cultural sensitivity into English-centric
bilingual classrooms?
● How do students perceive the cultural inclusivity of their English-centric bilingual education?
● What are the potential benefits of incorporating cultural sensitivity into English-centric bilingual
classrooms for students' academic and personal development?
● What strategies can be implemented to enhance cultural sensitivity in English-centric bilingual
education in the Philippines?

4. RESEARCH DESIGN
This research will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative
and quantitative data collection methods. The study will utilize surveys, interviews,
and classroom observations to gather comprehensive insights into the cultural
sensitivity practices within English-centric bilingual classrooms.

5. PARTICIPANTS
The participants will include both educators and students from diverse
linguistic and cultural backgrounds within English-centric bilingual classrooms
across various grade levels in selected schools in the Philippines. A purposive
sampling method will be employed to ensure representation from different regions
and socio-economic backgrounds.

6. DATA COLLECTION TOOLS
● Surveys: Develop a survey to gather quantitative data on educators' and students'
perceptions of cultural sensitivity in English-centric bilingual classrooms.
● Interviews: Conduct semi-structured interviews with educators to explore their
experiences, challenges, and strategies in incorporating cultural sensitivity.
● Classroom Observations: Observe classroom interactions and teaching methods to
assess the actual integration of cultural sensitivity in English-centric bilingual
education.

7. DATA ANALYSIS
● Quantitative Data: Analyze survey data using statistical tools to identify trends
and patterns in perceptions of cultural sensitivity.
● Qualitative Data: Utilize thematic analysis for interviews and classroom
observations to identify key themes, challenges, and successful strategies.
● Integration: Combine quantitative and qualitative findings to provide a
comprehensive understanding of the cultural sensitivity landscape in English-
centric bilingual classrooms.
