The main aim of this paper is to identify the type of bracing for the better seismic
performance of the structure by building steel bracings at different floor
levels.Duringearthquakes the human loss is mainly due to the failure of structures.
Seismic deficitstructures will crumble even at low magnitude earthquakes.Many
existing structures need to be retrofitted,installation of steel bracing for existing
structure will be easiest way instead of buildingshear walls.Steel tubular X-bracing
system have been installed to the strcuture at different floor levels for choosen G+5
RCC building and analyzed by Non-linear static push over analysis.Six cases are
considered in this study, in each case the placement of bracing were changed to find
out the better performane of the structue with variation in the placement of bracings at
different storey levels.The comparisions made between these six cases by keeping base
model as ideal model along with the parameters like base shear,displacement and
inter-storey drift.After comparing it was found that there is a significant increase of
Base Shear by 14.90%,16.53% for case-3,case-5 models respectively when compared
with basemodel i.e. case-1with out bracing. The displacement is reduced by 17.39%,
17.39% for case-3 and case-5models respectively when compared with base model.
There is a reduction of inter-storey drift by 33.33%, 33.33% for case-3 and case-5
models respectively when compared with base model. Case-3 and case-5 braced
frames has been significantly performed well with the reduction in storey drifts and
displacements and increase in base shear

Abstract Nowadays, competition towards rise of tall steel structures made certain factors are compulsory like serviceability and comfort of human relating to lateral loads caused by wind or earthquake. Earthquake is dangerous to the living beings in terms of its effects on manmade structures. Structures like tall buildings are built to resist gravity loads. However many tall buildings are not so resistant in lateral loads due to earthquake so need an improvement in resisting lateral loads. So there are many structural systems which resist lateral loads by varying orientation, addition of different structural systems. Like steel tubular structural system is considered and compared for their results against lateral forces and also by providing mega bracing system and diagrid bracing system. In this dissertation work, four structural systems are considered in which one is framed structure and rest are tubular system with addition of different bracing systems as mega bracing and diagrid bracing system. For the purpose 45 storey steel structure with rectangular plan of dimension 44mx24m uniform throughout the height is considered and analyzed for gravity and lateral loads using ETABS software. Its intention is to obtain the functioning characteristics like displacements, storey shear, time period, frequency, peak displacement and peak acceleration in both x and y direction to get most economical structure in all ways. Results shows that the steel tubular structure with mega bracing system performance is much better than the framed structure, tubular and tubular structure with diagrid bracing system. The construction of multi-storey buildings is increasing constantly all over the world. The
development of highly advanced structural system is mainly based on the quality of aesthetic
expression, structural efficiency, and geometric versatility. The selected structural system should be
such that it has to be effectively utilized for structural requirements. The unique geometrical
configuration of the diagrid structural systems have driven them to be used for high rise buildings
providing the structural efficiency and aesthetic potential. In this present work, four different
models of I section of a 30 storey RC Frame building with plan size 18 m × 18 m located in seismic
zone V have been considered for analysis. Steel diagrid structure of 2 storey and 6 storey models
and Infill wall model are analyzed and compared with conventional RC Frame model and is
studied using linear dynamic analysis. ETabs software is used for modeling and analysis of
structural members. Comparison of analysis results in terms of storey Displacement, Drift, Bending
Moment, Axial forces, Time period, Base shear is presented and the results obtained were
compared with those obtained from other models.
