Motivation: (Value Analysis/ structured rational discussion that
demands application of reasons as well as evidence)
Direction: The teacher will divide the student into 3
groups. Each group will be given a cartolina divided
into two columns. On the top of each column “ What
Man Can Do” and “What Women Can Do” is written.
Students will have to describe, what a man and
woman can do. After writing down their answers,
students will post their answer on the board and
discuss it to the class.
Processing Questions:
1. Based on your answers, what are the descriptions
similar to both man and woman? (C)
2. Why do you think there are labels or description that
can be applied to both sexes? (C)
3. In your own opinion, what does it imply? (A)
ACTIVITY:
Direction: Students will be given a copy of a story entitled “Two countries, Two stories”, coming from the
UNICEF and they will have to analyze the situation in order for them to answer the questions
their teacher will ask.
Two Countries, Two Stories…
In Afghanistan, nine-year-old Nafissa (not her real name) loves going to school, and though her father is
illiterate, he fully supports her studies. “He is maghroor [proud] because I can read!” declared an
excited Nafissa. In spite of continuing violent attacks by extremists, a shortage of teachers and
adequate facilities, and numerous cultural obstacles, girls in Afghanistan are attending school in
record numbers with help from UNICEF education programs.
Sulekha Bekum definitely does not want to follow in her mother’s footsteps — and her mother is just fine
with that. Since the time Sulekha’s mother, Janaswari, was 16 years old, she has spent long,
difficult days toiling on a tea plantation in India. Despite laws in the country against child labor,
it’s not unusual for girls to drop out of school and start picking tea while still in their teens.
UNICEF has helped create Adolescent Girls’ Clubs on the plantations to empower girls, giving
them the confidence and support they need to continue their education.

show fairness in every member of
the family and how they can deal on
issues about gender equality.

I. Direction: Identify the following. Write your answer in the space provided before each number.
It refers to the biological differences between a male and female.
It means an equal visibility, empowerment and participation of both sexes in all spheres of public and private life.

II. Essay. Write your answers in a different sheet of paper.
Why issues regarding gender equality matters?
What causes gender inequality? What could be the possible solution to eradicate this problem?

1. Although gender inequality is a global issue, it is made worse by poverty and is a key factor in the persistence of poverty. When women
and men do not have equal access to resources or equal opportunities to take part in decision-making, there are direct economic
and social costs. These largely affect women but also have consequences for their children, communities and countries.

  • 5. Motivation: (Value Analysis/ structured rational discussion that demands application of reasons as well as evidence) Direction: The teacher will divide the student into 3 groups. Each group will be given a cartolina divided into two columns. On the top of each column “ What Man Can Do” and “What Women Can Do” is written. Students will have to describe, what a man and woman can do. After writing down their answers, students will post their answer on the board and discuss it to the class. Processing Questions: 1. Based on your answers, what are the descriptions similar to both man and woman? (C) 2. Why do you think there are labels or description that can be applied to both sexes? (C) 3. In your own opinion, what does it imply? (A)

ACTIVITY: Direction: Students will be given a copy of a story entitled “Two countries, Two stories”, coming from the UNICEF and they will have to analyze the situation in order for them to answer the questions their teacher will ask. Two Countries, Two Stories… In Afghanistan, nine-year-old Nafissa (not her real name) loves going to school, and though her father is illiterate, he fully supports her studies. “He is maghroor [proud] because I can read!” declared an excited Nafissa. In spite of continuing violent attacks by extremists, a shortage of teachers and adequate facilities, and numerous cultural obstacles, girls in Afghanistan are attending school in record numbers with help from UNICEF education programs. Sulekha Bekum definitely does not want to follow in her mother’s footsteps — and her mother is just fine with that. Since the time Sulekha’s mother, Janaswari, was 16 years old, she has spent long, difficult days toiling on a tea plantation in India. Despite laws in the country against child labor, it’s not unusual for girls to drop out of school and start picking tea while still in their teens. UNICEF has helped create Adolescent Girls’ Clubs on the plantations to empower girls, giving them the confidence and support they need to continue their education. Analysis: (Values Clarification) 1.   • 8. Application: (Action Learning) Direction: Students will be divided into three groups and each group will present a short skit on how they can show fairness in every member of the family and how they can deal on issues about gender equality.
  • 9. Evaluation: I. Direction: Identify the following. Write your answer in the space provided before each number. It refers to the biological differences between a male and female. It means an equal visibility, empowerment and participation of both sexes in all spheres of public and private life. 3-7. Ways to promote gender equality 8-10. Factors affecting gender equality II. Essay. Write your answers in a different sheet of paper. Why issues regarding gender equality matters? What causes gender inequality? What could be the possible solution to eradicate this problem? Although gender inequality is a global issue, it is made worse by poverty and is a key factor in the persistence of poverty. When women and men do not have equal access to resources or equal opportunities to take part in decision-making, there are direct economic and social costs. These largely affect women but also have consequences for their children, communities and countries. 2. Poverty, discrimination
