A Hybrid Method for Automatic Traffic Control Mechanism

Traffic control method is an interconnection of sign devices positioned at road intersections, pedestrian crossings and different locations to manage competing flows of traffic. This work provides a novel idea and application procedures of priority and round robin scheduling algorithms. These algorithms methodologies are combined and a new hybrid automatic traffic control mechanism is proposed for efficient traffic and transportation management systems. This mechanism is necessary and it may be applied to modern cities wherever particular paths have more traffic jam compared to other paths of signal and wherever equal or normal traffic. This proposed hybrid approach applies priority scheduling concept to specific paths which has more traffic, on the other hand, this hybrid approach uses round robin scheduling concept for normal traffic signals. This mechanism is well suited for controlling the traffic of modern and old cities,both preplanned and not preplanned before construction. Some general conclusions and promising future research topics are also provided.

This paper is written based on the researches of models and its applications in Real-Time Traffic Information. Firstly, this would be introduced briefly about traffic information system and some traffic sensors which are currently used to record and send data to centre. The major part will focus on explanation of models for estimation and prediction in Real-Time Traffic Information. The study uses the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model to examine how performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, self-efficacy, trust, and behavioral intention affect LRMIS adoption. The results found positive and significant relationships between all seven constructs. The findings can help the Pakistani government improve LRMIS implementation to modernize digital land records management across the country.

The study developed a traffic simulator using Python to model vehicle and traffic light behavior at an intersection. A linear regression model was then used to control the traffic lights dynamically based on current traffic conditions, collected from sensors. Testing showed the AI-based dynamic system improved traffic flow compared to a static traffic light system, allowing more vehicles to pass through the intersection in a given time period. The authors conclude the linear regression model provides better real-time traffic management than existing approaches and suggest further improving it with deep learning techniques.

The Kalman filter equations are used to fuse the neural network predictions with current GPS observations to improve prediction accuracy over time. A case study on a real bus route in Egypt showed the hybrid method achieved satisfactory prediction accuracy.

A participatory urban traffic monitoring system
This paper presents a participatory urban traffic monitoring system that uses public buses and their riders' mobile phones as probes to sample real-time road traffic conditions. The system relies on bus riders to anonymously upload cellular and beacon sensor data from their phones to a backend server. This data is then clustered and mapped to reconstruct bus trajectories and estimate traffic speeds on different road segments with high coverage at low energy cost compared to traditional infrastructural monitoring methods. The system was tested on 5 bus routes in Singapore and achieved over 90% accuracy in bus stop and trip detection while providing more comprehensive road coverage than other traffic data sources.

The Husky Lines research project takes a mixed methods approach to identifying barriers to public transit usage for the student population of the Tacoma campus of the University of Washington. The first step was to illuminate existing public transit deserts and simultaneously implement a student survey to measure student perceptions of transit use. Based on these findings, the team is recommending new bus stops and bus lines to better serve the student population in an effort to increase usage of public transportation by the students. Taking this approach a step further, this specific study aims to collect perceptions of daily commute and actual daily commute patterns. A mobile application, tapping into built-in sensors, measures actual commute patterns and is augmented with a traditional travel diary to measure perception of commutes. Finally, this study provides an example of how mobile technology can be used to support transportation surveys.

focus of this report is to introduce a versatile fuzzy logic traffic flow model capable of making optimal traffic
predictions. This model can be used to evaluate various traffic-light timing plans. More importantly, it provides
a framework for implementing adaptive traffic signal controllers based on fuzzy logic technology. When
implemented it solved the problem of waiting time, travel cost, accident, traffic congestion.

Traffic State Estimation and Prediction under Heterogeneous Traffic Conditions
The recent economic growth in developing countries
like India has resulted in an intense increase of vehicle
ownership and use, as witnessed by severe traffic congestion
and bottlenecks during peak hours in most of the metropolitan
cities. Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) aim to reduce
traffic congestion by adopting various strategies such as
providing pre-trip and en-route traffic information thereby
reducing demand, adaptive signal control for area wide
optimization of traffic flow, etc. The successful deployment
and the reliability of these systems largely depend on the
accurate estimation of the current traffic state and quick and
reliable prediction to future time steps. At a macroscopic level,
this involves the prediction of fundamental traffic stream
parameters which include speed, density and flow in spacetime
domain. The complexity of prediction is enhanced by
heterogeneous traffic conditions as prevailing in India due to
less lane discipline and complex interactions among different
vehicle types. Also, there is no exclusive traffic flow model for
heterogeneous traffic conditions which can characterize the
traffic stream at a macroscopic level. Hence, the present study
tries to explore the applicability of an existing macroscopic
model, namely the Lighthill-Whitham-Richards (LWR) model,
for short term prediction of traffic flow in a busy arterial in
the city of Chennai, India, under heterogeneous traffic
conditions. Both linear and exponential speed-density
relations were considered and incorporated into the
macroscopic model. The resulting partial differential
equations are solved numerically and the results are found to
be encouraging. This model can ultimately be helpful for the
implementation of ATIS/ATMS applications under
heterogeneous traffic environment.

Intermodal Autonomous Mobility-on-Demand

Abstract—In this paper we study models and coordination poli-
cies for intermodal Autonomous Mobility-on-Demand (AMoD),
wherein a fleet of self-driving vehicles provides on-demand
mobility jointly with public transit. Specifically, we first present
a network flow model for intermodal AMoD, where we capture
the coupling between AMoD and public transit and the goal is
to maximize social welfare. Second, leveraging such a model,
we design a pricing and tolling scheme that allows the system
to recover a social optimum under the assumption of a perfect
market with selfish agents. Third, we present real-world case
studies for the transportation networks of New York City and
Berlin, which allow us to quantify the general benefits of
intermodal AMoD, as well as the societal impact of different
vehicles. In particular, we show that vehicle size and powertrain
type heavily affect intermodal routing decisions and, thus, system
efficiency. Our studies reveal that the cooperation between AMoD
fleets and public transit can yield significant benefits compared
to an AMoD system operating in isolation, whilst our proposed
tolling policies appear to be in line with recent discussions for
the case of New York City.
I. INTRODUCTION
TRAFFIC congestion is soaring all around the world. Besidesmere discomfort for passengers, congestion causes severe
economic and environmental harm, e.g., due to the loss of
working hours and pollutant emissions such as CO2, partic-
ulate matter, and NOx [1]. In 2013, traffic congestion cost
U.S. citizens 124 Billion USD [2]. Notably, transportation
remains one of a few sectors in which emissions are still
increasing [3]. Governments and municipalities are struggling
to find sustainable ways of transportation that can match
mobility needs and reduce environmental harm as well as
congestion.
To achieve sustainable modes of transportation, new mobil-
ity concepts and technology changes are necessary. However,
the potential to realize such concepts in urban environments is
limited, since upgrades to available infrastructures (e.g., roads
and subway lines) and their capacity are often extremely costly
and require decades-long planning timelines. Thus, mobility
concepts that use existing infrastructure in a more efficient way
are especially attractive. In this course, mobility-on-demand
services appear to be particularly promising. Herein, two main
concepts exist. On the one hand, free floating car sharing
systems strive to reduce the total number of private vehicles
in city centers. However, these systems offer limited flexibility
and are generally characterized by low adoption rates that
result from low vehicle availabilities due to the difficulty of

Active Traffic Management (ATM) is a congestion management approach that utilizes strategies like ramp metering, HOV lanes, and incident detection in a coordinated way to optimize traffic flow. ATM relies on automated systems to dynamically implement strategies in response to changing traffic conditions. Some strategies used in ATM include speed harmonization, dynamic HOV lanes, junction control, and temporary shoulder use. Studies show that ATM can increase traffic throughput, reduce collisions, improve reliability, and delay the onset of congestion.

In recent years, the persuasive interventions for inducing sustainable urban mobility behaviours has become a very active research field. This review paper systematically analyses existing approaches and prototype systems and describes and classifies the persuasive strategies used for changing behaviour in the domain of transport. It also studies the results and recommendations derived from pilot studies, and as a result of this analysis highlights the need for personalizing and tailoring persuasive technology to various user characteristics.
We also discuss the possible role of context-aware persuasive systems for increasing the number of sustainable choices. Finally, recommendations for future investigations on scholarly persuasive systems are proposed

OBJECTIVES: To determine how SPSS can be a useful tool to evaluate Course Learning Outcomes and analyze student's performance with the help of KS test, histogram and skewness of the tool. It is also contributing to facilitate Deep learning amongst students with the help of achievement of normal distribution of grades. METHODS: Comparative analysis is done using course specification, syllabus, assessment method(Final Exam Question paper is taken as tool) and result statistics for the course of STATISTICAL PROGRAMMING (217 CSM), 3rd year (level 5 course) that is part of BCS curriculum in department of Computer Science, College of computer Science in King Khalid University. Teaching strategies are compared for two years. i.e; 2013 and 2014. Moreover the research inferences the relevance of application of NCAAA standards in meeting Learning outcomes of any module for department of Computer Science, CCS, KKU. RESULTS: Comparison of question papers depict that now students are motivated to have deep learning in terms of understanding, solving, reasoning based questions as contrast to shallow learning (memorized questions) in the past. It is indeed improving Learning domains too (Knowledge, Cognitive, Interpersonal and Communication skills) more effectively than in the past. Also grade distribution is Normal with well-defined curve for 2014 as compared to 2013 having variation in Standard deviation too. Teacher centered learning lead to surface learning. After NCAA standards implementation, there is more focus on learned centered teaching. Design of learning assessments is in such a way that it should meet learning outcomes successfully. CONCLUSIONS: The research is contributing in flourishing the personality of the students to produce qualified graduates with excellence in communication, logically and technically capable enough to share their knowledge nationally and internationally with much more confidence at any platform. Also it is opening door for researchers to evaluate their performance with the help of SPSS in academics or anywhere where we want to gather.
BugLoc: Bug Localization in Multi Threaded Application via Graph Mining Approach
Detection of software bugs and its occurrences, repudiation and its root cause is a very difficult process in large multi threaded applications. It is a must for a software developer or software organization to identify bugs in their applications and to remove or overcome them. The application should be protected from malfunctioning. Many of the compilers and Integrated Development Environments are effectively identifying errors and bugs in applications while running or compiling, but they fail in detecting actual cause for the bugs in the running applications. The developer has to reframe or recreate the package with the new one without bugs. It is time consuming and effort is wasted in Software Development Life Cycle. There is a possibility to use graph mining techniques in detecting software bugs. But there are many problems in using graph mining techniques. Managing large graph data, processing nodes with links and processing subgraphs are the problems to be faced in graph mining approach. This paper presents a novel algorithm named BugLoc which is capable of detecting bugs from the multi threaded software application. The BugLoc uses object template to store graph data which reduces graph management complexities. It also uses substring analysis method in detecting frequent subgraphs. The BugLoc then analyses frequent subgraphs to detect exact location of the software bugs. The experimental results show that the algorithm is very efficient, accurate and scalable for large graph dataset.
Motion Object Detection Using BGS Technique
The detection of moving object is an important in many applications such as a vehicle identification in a traffic monitoring system,human detection in a crime branch.In this paper we identify a vehicle in a video sequence.This paper briefly explain the detection of moving vehicle in a video.We introduce a new algorithm BGS for idntifying vehicle in a video sequence. First, we differentiate the foreground from background in frames by learning the background. Then, the image is divided into many small nonoverlapped frames. The candidates of the vehicle part can be found from the frames if there is some change in gray level between the current image and the background. The extracted background subtraction method is used in subsequent analysis to detect a vehicle and classify moving vehicle.

In this paper we determine a new method to solving assignment problem using L-R fuzzy parameters. This method requires finding out the minimal cost reach optimality compared to the existing methods available in the literature. Numerical examples show that the fuzzy assignment ranking method offers an effective way for handling the fuzzy assignment problem.

This paper presents an implementation of one dimensional Burgers equation using implicit method with Intel Xeon Phi Coprocessor. In particular, we used MAGMA MIC library which is an open source high performance library for solving a systems of non-linear equations. Further for high performance computation we consider offload mode as the primary mode of operation for Intel Xeon phi coprocessor. The result obtained from implicit scheme is then compared with the exact values and it’s seen that the results obtained are approximate and reliable. The result table showed that the proposed scheme achieved higher performance on Intel MIC platform.

Hence there is a one to one correspondence between crossing of lines in the permutation and the edges of the corresponding permutation graph. In this paper we found the conditions for a permutation to realize a double star and comprehend the algorithm to determine the satuation index of the permutation. The relationship between diabetes and cardiovascular diseases are examined by taking into account of age, sex and associated diabetic and cardiovascular risk factors. The data are collected from patients with diabetes. From these data, features are selected by ant colony optimization and those selected features are given to hybrid PSO-LIBSVM to classify abnormal and normal data. This performance is evaluated using performance metrics and proved this classifiers efficiency for detection of Diabetic Cardiomyopathy.

The main goal of this paper is encrypting the small arbitrary length data without any changes in the length and data type. We propose a flexible arbitrary length small domain block cipher (FPESD). FPESD is based on AES Algorithm. The resulting cipher text is the same as input plaintext. Here, we use Galois finite field GF (28) and format preserving key to implement FPE. For decryption format preserving key is used along with cipher text and secret key.

Test Suite Reduction Based on Fault Detection with Cost Optimization
Test Suite Reduction is an optimization technique to identify the minimally sized subset of test cases with enforced constraints involved. The main purpose of test suite reduction is to deduce increased number of test cases that in turn increase the time and cost involved in execution. Fault Detection is the method of identifying the faults that affect the outcome of the system either logically or syntactically. This paper focuses on the reduction of the test suite that has high fault identification rates and also incurs low cost of execution of test cases. The proposed approach includes a new parameter Fault Detection Effectiveness to identify fault rates of test suite; an algorithm for test suite reduction based on priority of requirements; a low cost framework to identify the execution of test cases with minimum budget. Thus, the proposed work defines a test suite that has high fault detection effectiveness providing maximum coverage to requirements at minimum cost of execution.

As the e-commerce is gaining popularity various customer surveys of objects are currently accessible on the Internet. These surveys are frequently disordered, prompting challenges in knowledge discovery and object assessment. This article proposes an object feature positioning skeleton, which consequently recognizes the critical features of an object from online customer surveys. The critical object features are recognized focused around two perceptions: 1) they are normally commented extensively by customers and 2) customer suppositions on the critical feature significantly impact their general assessments on the object. Specifically, given the customer surveys of an item, we first extract the object feature by a shallow reliance parser and focus customer suppositions on these features through an opinion characterizer. We then create a probabilistic object feature positioning calculation to identify the criticalness of perspectives by at the same time considering feature recurrence and the impact of customer opinion given to every feature over their general opinion. The experimental results on 3 popular products demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach.

This scheme of protecting the integrity of guest virtual machines can be agreed upon by both the cloud and the customer and can be incorporated in the service level agreement (SLA).Based onhypothetical analysis, we demonstrate that the proposedscheme has a provably safe and highly adroit dataintegrity inspection measure.
Micro-Neuro-Sensor Recording of STN Neurons of the Human Brain
What cause to the neurons of the human brain cells when they are damaged. They become inactive. So damage to subthalamiuc nucleus (STN) neurons of the human brain causing larger involuntary movements and thereby attacking the Parkinson’s disease (PD). Deep brain stimulation (DBS) of bilateral sub thalamic nuclei (STN) is an efficient method of rehabilitation technique in subjects with advanced idiopathic Parkinson’s (or Parkinson) disease. Accurate targeting of STN neurons and placement of microelectrodes/ (neurosensors) are paramount importance for optimal results after STN-DBS method.In this paper, microminiaturized electrode recordings (MER) of STN neurons were detected in a mean of 3.5 ±1.1 channels on right hemisphere and 3.6 ±1.04 on left hemisphere.Final channel selected were most commonly central seen in 42.3% followed by anterior in 33.7%. When a high current is delivered to STN or GPi neurons of basal ganglia (a component of human brain), causing their inhibition and improved indication of symptoms. It is now known that there is a significant change in the firing pattern and a reorganization of the entire basal ganglia circuit with DBS. The MER of STN neurons has identified a specific high frequency irregular larger amplitude firing patterns seen only in disease states and hence used to detect the neurons of ST nucleus during functional surgery. Microelectrode recording is so useful to confirm the right path but has to be taken in consideration with effects on macro stimulation.

The pygmy halfbeak Dermogenys colletei, is known for its viviparous nature, this presents an intriguing case of relatively low fecundity, raising questions about potential compensatory reproductive strategies employed by this species. Our study delves into the examination of fecundity and the Gonadosomatic Index (GSI) in the Pygmy Halfbeak, D. colletei (Meisner, 2001), an intriguing viviparous fish indigenous to Sarawak, Borneo. We hypothesize that the Pygmy halfbeak, D. colletei, may exhibit unique reproductive adaptations to offset its low fecundity, thus enhancing its survival and fitness. To address this, we conducted a comprehensive study utilizing 28 mature female specimens of D. colletei, carefully measuring fecundity and GSI to shed light on the reproductive adaptations of this species. Our findings reveal that D. colletei indeed exhibits low fecundity, with a mean of 16.76 ± 2.01, and a mean GSI of 12.83 ± 1.27, providing crucial insights into the reproductive mechanisms at play in this species. These results underscore the existence of unique reproductive strategies in D. colletei, enabling its adaptation and persistence in Borneo's diverse aquatic ecosystems, and call for further ecological research to elucidate these mechanisms. This study lends to a better understanding of viviparous fish in Borneo and contributes to the broader field of aquatic ecology, enhancing our knowledge of species adaptations to unique ecological challenges.

Authoring a personal GPT for your research and practice: How we created the Q...
Thematic analysis in qualitative research is a time-consuming and systematic task, typically done using teams. Team members must ground their activities on common understandings of the major concepts underlying the thematic analysis, and define criteria for its development. However, conceptual misunderstandings, equivocations, and lack of adherence to criteria are challenges to the quality and speed of this process. Given the distributed and uncertain nature of this process, we wondered if the tasks in thematic analysis could be supported by readily available artificial intelligence chatbots. Our early efforts point to potential benefits: not just saving time in the coding process but better adherence to criteria and grounding, by increasing triangulation between humans and artificial intelligence. This tutorial will provide a description and demonstration of the process we followed, as two academic researchers, to develop a custom ChatGPT to assist with qualitative coding in the thematic data analysis process of immersive learning accounts in a survey of the academic literature: QUAL-E Immersive Learning Thematic Analysis Helper. In the hands-on time, participants will try out QUAL-E and develop their ideas for their own qualitative coding ChatGPT. Participants that have the paid ChatGPT Plus subscription can create a draft of their assistants. The organizers will provide course materials and slide deck that participants will be able to utilize to continue development of their custom GPT. The paid subscription to ChatGPT Plus is not required to participate in this workshop, just for trying out personal GPTs during it.

EWOCS-I: The catalog of X-ray sources in Westerlund 1 from the Extended Weste...
Context. With a mass exceeding several 104 M⊙ and a rich and dense population of massive stars, supermassive young star clusters
represent the most massive star-forming environment that is dominated by the feedback from massive stars and gravitational interactions
among stars.
Aims. In this paper we present the Extended Westerlund 1 and 2 Open Clusters Survey (EWOCS) project, which aims to investigate
the influence of the starburst environment on the formation of stars and planets, and on the evolution of both low and high mass stars.
The primary targets of this project are Westerlund 1 and 2, the closest supermassive star clusters to the Sun.
Methods. The project is based primarily on recent observations conducted with the Chandra and JWST observatories. Specifically,
the Chandra survey of Westerlund 1 consists of 36 new ACIS-I observations, nearly co-pointed, for a total exposure time of 1 Msec.
Additionally, we included 8 archival Chandra/ACIS-S observations. This paper presents the resulting catalog of X-ray sources within
and around Westerlund 1. Sources were detected by combining various existing methods, and photon extraction and source validation
were carried out using the ACIS-Extract software.
Results. The EWOCS X-ray catalog comprises 5963 validated sources out of the 9420 initially provided to ACIS-Extract, reaching a
photon flux threshold of approximately 2 × 10−8 photons cm−2
s
−1
. The X-ray sources exhibit a highly concentrated spatial distribution,
with 1075 sources located within the central 1 arcmin. We have successfully detected X-ray emissions from 126 out of the 166 known
massive stars of the cluster, and we have collected over 71 000 photons from the magnetar CXO J164710.20-455217.

The ability to recreate computational results with minimal effort and actionable metrics provides a solid foundation for scientific research and software development. When people can replicate an analysis at the touch of a button using open-source software, open data, and methods to assess and compare proposals, it significantly eases verification of results, engagement with a diverse range of contributors, and progress. However, we have yet to fully achieve this; there are still many sociotechnical frictions.
Inspired by David Donoho's vision, this talk aims to revisit the three crucial pillars of frictionless reproducibility (data sharing, code sharing, and competitive challenges) with the perspective of deep software variability.
Our observation is that multiple layers — hardware, operating systems, third-party libraries, software versions, input data, compile-time options, and parameters — are subject to variability that exacerbates frictions but is also essential for achieving robust, generalizable results and fostering innovation. I will first review the literature, providing evidence of how the complex variability interactions across these layers affect qualitative and quantitative software properties, thereby complicating the reproduction and replication of scientific studies in various fields.
I will then present some software engineering and AI techniques that can support the strategic exploration of variability spaces. These include the use of abstractions and models (e.g., feature models), sampling strategies (e.g., uniform, random), cost-effective measurements (e.g., incremental build of software configurations), and dimensionality reduction methods (e.g., transfer learning, feature selection, software debloating).
I will finally argue that deep variability is both the problem and solution of frictionless reproducibility, calling the software science community to develop new methods and tools to manage variability and foster reproducibility in software systems.

We will metaverse into the essence of immersive learning, into its three dimensions and conceptual models. This approach encompasses elements from teaching methodologies to social involvement, through organizational concerns and technologies. Challenging the perception of learning as knowledge transfer, we introduce a 'Uses, Practices & Strategies' model operationalized by the 'Immersive Learning Brain' and ‘Immersion Cube’ frameworks. This approach offers a comprehensive guide through the intricacies of immersive educational experiences and spotlighting research frontiers, along the immersion dimensions of system, narrative, and agency. Our discourse extends to stakeholders beyond the academic sphere, addressing the interests of technologists, instructional designers, and policymakers. We span various contexts, from formal education to organizational transformation to the new horizon of an AI-pervasive society. This keynote aims to unite the iLRN community in a collaborative journey towards a future where immersive learning research and practice coalesce, paving the way for innovative educational research and practice landscapes.

Phil Scholar: Dept. of CS, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, India Abstract Traffic control method is an interconnection of sign devices positioned at road intersections, pedestrian crossings and different locations to manage competing flows of traffic. This work provides a novel idea and application procedures of priority and round robin scheduling algorithms. These algorithms methodologies are combined and a new hybrid automatic traffic control mechanism is proposed for efficient traffic and transportation management systems. This mechanism is necessary and it may be applied to modern cities wherever particular paths have more traffic jam compared to other paths of signal and wherever equal or normal traffic. This proposed hybrid approach applies priority scheduling concept to specific paths which has more traffic, on the other hand, this hybrid approach uses round robin scheduling concept for normal traffic signals. This mechanism is well suited for controlling the traffic of modern and old cities, both preplanned and not preplanned before construction. Some general conclusions and promising future research topics are also provided.
